I registered a mi account, bound the phone number for my Mi Mix to that account, applied for unlocking permission, waited 3 days then flashed the global rom to replace the China rom. No problem until I dropped and broke my Mi Mix. I have now purchased another new Mi Mix which has arrived with the China rom and I want to flash to global rom again. This new / replacement phone has the same phone number / sim card as the first phone. Do I sign in to my mi account on the new phone and apply for unlocking permission? Or should I set up a brand new mi account for the new phone. On the miui forums people are telling me I can unlock the new phone with my existing account but I would have to wait 30 days to unlock. Others on the miui forums are telling me to register a new account so I only have to wait 3 days. Any suggestions?

Generally they let you unlock 1 phone per month I have heard, and that has worked for me.
That would be 30 days after you unlocked the first Mix, not 30 days after purchase of the second one.
But I have also heard that heavy users on the MIUI forum can get special treatment, and unlock more phones more often.
You might not be able to register a second Mi account using the same phone number, not sure about that.
Hello i have an international version of Mi 8.
I waited the famous 720 hours (1 month) and when i tried a few times in the past the message was about how many hours were left (720, 584, 356, etc), a sort of countdown. Well, now the 720 hours are passed but i can't unlock the BL and the message is different and in chinese language: 手机使用未达到指定时间,无法解锁 that in english sound more or less like <The phone has not been used for the specified time and cannot be unlocked> What it means?? Why now, although 720 hours have passed, I can't unlock the bootloader?? Thank you for the help
Which computer processor do you have? It's prossible, that you will get problems with AMD Ryzen processors. I had problems too. After switching to a notebook with Intel processor it worked fine for me

Have you got any solution?? I am facing the same problem. Now what should I do? wait more?
Try to sign out of MI account in Settings and then sign in (the mi account in the root Setting, not that one under developer options) . I did it and it just worked, my bootloader is unlocked now
Got the same Chinese characters after waiting 360h... How did you solve that?
This is the error

Do you have a AMD Ryzen-based PC? I had problems with it, too. After switching to my Intel-based notebook, it worked

I bound my mi account to the phone and waited for 360h until yesterday. But still can't unlock the phone, it says that i didn't use the phone long enough...
I have global beta, not stable, can it be because of that?

No because i was already on beta global when i unlocked my bootloader. But i waited 720 hours, not 360
4th day after 360h and still can't unlock. It must be something else going on, my MI account has permissions. And the log from the unlock tool does not show any signs of malfunction.
Tried to log out and log to MI account on the phone. Tried 3 different windows 10 pc, tried old version of Mi unlock... I can't realy understand what could I be doing wrong.
Does the Waiting time resets every time I click to bind account, even if it is the same Mi account?
U have version Global or China?

The procedure was: sign out from MI account (from the root of settings, under the Account section) and then sign in. After this i went under Developer Options and added the phone in the Mi Unlock voice. Then i unlocked my bootloader without further problems. I don't know you can't
I cant because the tool says I did not used the phone enough time... But the problem is that no one knows how much time it is! If I must wait 720h it should display 720h in the first time, not 360h....
I have unlocked bootloader mi 8 before
But i used miflash and check clean all & lock
Now i can't unlock again
Unlock tool notification wail 360 hour
I bought mi 8 3 month ago
Locked out for 2nd 24 hour period...
I understand you have to wait 7 days to unlock bootloader but this is just infuriating.
SMS code sent, yeah right. Sure. I'm just blind and can't see it... Phone is good, but Xiaomi is really really dysfunctional company.
I miss the good all days with my LG G2 and unlocking the bootloader with an app. And now, I can't even begin unlocking until Xiaomi decides I can get a sms code from them. When will that be? Nobody knows.
Done the search, tried many things. Anybody has a suggestion what to do?
Solved the problem.
You have to turn on sync messages with Xiaomi cloud and then it works.
Good thing is that your timer for unlocking bootloader starts as soon as you create Xiaomi profile.
Only 116 hours left and then come the ROMs...
Im here in the US can't verify and I cannot click the sync messages tried several times, any suggestion? Redmi Note 9T 5g. Thanks in advance
It is an international calls plan issue , you must have enough credits in your plan to send SMS to xiaomi servers.

My problems even more frustrating... I get the SMS code, but the ****ing app says incorrect or expired code.
I can login to other Xiaomi services requiring an SMS code for the same account, it's just that USELESS PoS unlock tool.

It sounds like you've got more than one Mi account and the phone number is registered to a different account than the account connected to the phone.
Try logging out of your Mi account on the phone, then log in again, but using the SIM phone number as the account ID.
If that works, then you will also need to log in to the Mi Unlock Tool using the phone number for the account ID.

yes, I've got two different accounts, but every time I sing in with a different one, I delete the previous account. but it seems that xiamoi as a "memory" of the number used. so, I can't sing in with no one of the other tow accounts beacuse I already deleted it. now I tried tu use and create an account with another sim: I need to wait 168 h, the same of some weeks ago, but the unlock went bad the last time. I'm on a stacking point.

y have same problem
Hi guys, my cousins redmi 8 is mi account locked after he performed a phone reset and forgot the password of the mi account and he doesnt have his old phone number aswell that was bounded to the mi account, so i started trying the usual tricks you find on youtube but nothing woked, so i was thinking is it possible to remove the mia ccount by installing a new rom on the phone?.
Thanks
your only bet is to take it to a service center, with proof of purchase and everything else. even with a new miui rom itll still ask for the mi account. if youve used a custom rom before, you should be able to get out
let that be a lesson learnt, dont casually use phone numbs and emails like theyre nothing
