I notice that on landscape mode the top on bottom does not respond to touch. The S-Pen works fine but not finger touch. Just wondering if anyone else have the same issue? I have already removed my tempered glass protection to rule that out and also tried opening in safe mode.
My model number is SM-N960F bought in Australia (Optus).
Update : Factory reset fixed the issue. Looks like a software issue (some app interfering)
Try the touch screen test. This is on S9, should be same on N9

And if there are issues contact Samsung

Thanks. I've tried that already and it works fine but my issue happens only on landscape mode. It is not dead zone as they work with SPen and also works fine on portrait mode (which the test is)
If you reinstall edge touch and make changes that might be the cause of touch not being recognised in landscape. Just select optimised settings to fix.
I have same issue, in landscape, bottom 1.5cm of screen is unresponsive but when i scroll frop up to bottom of screen, it works. Looks like there is some app overdrawing over bottom of screen..
Solved: reboot fixed issue

I am not sure whether it is my mind playing trick with me or not, but I feel like my phone is less sensitive after I did the hard reset (power+volume down). Sometimes I need to press 2-3 times because the first light tap was not detected.
So is there anyway to increase the sensitivity?
I have the same problem, but no idea that is the hardware or only software problem.....
Fresh owner of this Optimus 2X in France, in our community, frandroid.com, we encounter the same problem , I think this is a software issue.
Did someone already contact LG??
Maybe they should include this into the bug list thread.
May I know were you guys having this problem since it is out of the box? or after reset?
I have the same problem started from day 1 till now
I have the same issue and already thought I'd be the only one having this problem.
I would not say it's a problem with sensitivity, but it feels like the touchscreen goes into some kind of sleepmode where then you need to press a second time, to wake it up.
Continuous touching is no problem. (like when typing rapidly on the keyboard)
This video is not from me, but it shows the problem.
Have a look at 13:28 and 13:37. The reviewer tries to hit the "Ackermann" entry, but the touchscreen does not recognize the touch. At 13:37 the guy has to press another time to get the entry selected.

Yes! The touchscreen is definitely less sensitive than my old HTC Hero, and gets quite frustrating sometimes when a scroll misses the first part of the movement or a click is missed.

just in case, are you guys using 20110218 baseband too?
The same problem here. If I unlock the screen and then tap on any on screen apps, I need to touch again for it to open. Only the first time though, after that it function ok. I think this is a bug and needs to be fixed... I have my pc for double-click.
Yep, count me in. Same problem here. Sometimes screen taps aren't registered. Will do some research later on, but I think it's a software problem. (maybe you have to tap 2x as fast )
Hi,
same problem here!
Potentially a driver issue. A Nexus S user had a similar issue in this thread: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/18431-tuning-driver-to-deal-with-unresponsive-touchscreen/
He managed to tweak the driver and it works fine now. Need to know C++ (I think?) to understand though.

I see, then probably they will fix it on the next update/gingerbread?
Same issue here.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the problem seems to be that the screen has zero tolerance when it comes to tapping and swiping together. If you tap and slide your finger a bit directly after the tap, the tap is ignored. In other words your tap has to be a steady tap when you click on a button or an app. Right on the spot and with no swiping or sliding afterwards. I can't reproduce this on any of my other devices.
Ergo, it seems that the natural tapping I'm used to isn't working on the x2. It seems like I have to adjust my tap. I think that this could in principle be solved with a setting somewhere, because clearly the x2 is capable of registering this in for example a web page.
The great thing of this is that you can safely tap and swipe in the app drawer to scroll up and down or left and right. The downside is that a tap with a little swipe isn't registered at all. I would say that LG has choosen here for a wrong setting.
My personal experience about screen sensivity.. can you confirm if it's the same for your device?
I noticed a strange touch response.. and after some tests, I can say that the touch screen and icons are influenced by the surface where the phone was put!
with the phone in my hands, it's all ok (only sometimes - rare - I need to tap more than once).
If I put the phone over a glass surface (like a glass table) without touching it with both hands, the touch and the icons not respond!! NEVER!
If I put the phone on my scanner the touch screen works ok, but the icons not (or only few and rare taps was detected).!
If I put the phone over my big Onkyo amplifier.. It works like in my hands.. or better!! even without touching with hands.. only with a finger!
Put it back on my glass table.. and all stop working again. If I put a aluminium foil under the phone (between phone and table).. the touch and the icons works again !!
If I put it on the bed.. it don't work.
LG support say that they have tested the phone about this issue after my report.. but no strange response was detected by them. I don't know if they really tested it..
Try it and let me know what you think about!
tested on glass surface, I can press and swipe through pages with a finger without problem.
it is true that my device is not so responsive, but aint reaching that level yet
i read about a similar behaviour on other devices because some devices need a proper grounding for the capacitive screen to work correctly. You can find this problem via google.
Some devices have problem in a car-mounting, for example.
But i think thats not the problem the thread-opener talked about?
Guys I'm looking to get this phone and after reading Engadgets review of the X2 where they mention that the screen is not as sensitive to the touch as other phones I got a bit worried and started googling which lead me here!
Is this true? The screen isn't very sensitive and you have to apply more pressure than other capacitive phones?
I know that the OP is talking about a different issue but I reckon LG will get that sorted out via software update, or at least hope so!
Please do post your experience about the screen sensitivity of the X2 as this is putting me off. I currently have the Motorola Milestone 2 which is very sensitive to the touch even with a screen protector on it.
Cheers
I have been having problems lately with my HP touchpad on CM9. They are as follow: the touchscreen goes crazy and does all sorts of random typing and button pressing. At one point I could not use it so I webOS doctored it up and then flashed CM10. So far it fixed the issue but now my corner "back" button only works when you press it on the side closest to the middle. Some other buttons are like this or do not work completely in apps. I don't think it could be a hardware issue as I have always been careful with all of my devices. Thanks in advance!
Can you completely rule out hardware issues by testing your screen using a drawing app?

I will try that now.
Update: Ok please try to work with this: In landscape look at the arrow, the width of the arrow, that entire section is not working from bottom to top. You have to almost tap on the very right edge of the back arrow. I still do not think it is hardware.
Bump, please help
I'm on CM w/android 4.2.2 and have similar screen issues... screen sometimes goes a static non-moving "fuzzy" blue... not sire if ther is any pattern to it or not, but reboot fixes it for a while.
lately I've noticed that ill get artafacts... fpr example todays google doodle viewed using stock android browser app will often produce black a d white horizontal artafacts. perhaps driver issues?

I'm struggling with the same phenomenon, have you been abe to solve it ?
in portrait mode my back, home button and recent apps does not work, I must turn the screen into landscape in order for them to work, what gives?

You don't say what Rom you are using but it certainly works on Jcsullins latest.
Evervolv but now i am thinking its an lcd digitzer screen problem cause nothing in that area works regardless of the rom. I never dropped the device so i am not sure why just a section of the lcd screen would stop responding..
Just got my S10 today and I already noticed a big problem. If I try to tap anything near both the left and right edges in the middle of my display, nothing happens or things hang up. For instance, using the Samsung keyboard, I can't press either 1 or 0. It is repeatable with other apps as well.
It seems to be a software issue with the edge panels because it is in the region of the screen that shows the "edge". However, turning edge off has no effect on the problem. Also tried turning on Touch sensitivity but no help. If I go to developer options and enable pointer location, all areas of the screen respond, even the edge area, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.
I took off my case but that didn't fix it either. I could try taking off the screen protector but I'd hate to ruin it if that's not the problem.
Anyone else having this problem? I'd hate to RMA a phone 2 days before its official release lol.
I am having similar issues with my S10+ towards the middle lower right or middle lower left of the screen. I'm sending mine back for a new one. I've tried every fix imaginable and still no joy. Hopefully the new phone will be better, otherwise it might be an issue with the new screens! What a bummer!

Samsung turns down sensitivity on the edge to prevent accidental touches. Try downloading Good Lock on Galaxy Store, then download Edgo Touch from Good Lock to adjust sensitive region.
Try turning off 'accidental touch protection'
Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Accidental protection is for dark environment where it prevent touched in pockets. It likely won't be what's causing the insensitivity for them on the edge of the phone.
With Samsung's Edge Touch app, it'll let you adjust the sensitive zone on the edge of the phone.
Hello, Suddenly my status bar area is not responsive to touch therefore I am not able to pull down notification. Touch is working perfectly on other areas.
I tested touch using *#0*# and top area blocks are not responding to touch.
I didn't dropped my phone, screen is not broken and no water damage. It suddenly stopped working.
I tried reboot, safe mode, wipe cache partition and factory reset but it is not working.
Initially i thought it is hardware issue but in lock screen i am able to pull down notification perfectly. so hardware issue is ruled out.
Can anyone recommend a solution? Your help will be highly appreciated.

It could very well be hardware related and there's no other way but to replace the screen if it is indeed hardware related... But for now try going into settings -> display -> status bar -> untick and retick both options there and see what happens.. I was also going to suggest to try this.. Press the physical power button until the power menu appears
Long press the on screen power off button until it turns into 'safe mode'. Click on that
Check whether the status bar now works or not. If it works, then it's definitely related to one of your apps possibly.
But you did say you tried safe mode so I don't know.. Have you updated it recently? Any recently installed apps?
Edit: Do you happen to have a screen protector and case on the phone? Someone else said quote. "the glass from the screen protector was interfering with the perimeter of the plastic case. The plastic pushed the glass up, so thats why it was interfering."
Let me know.
Hello to all owners of this device! Has anyone encountered the problem of poor touchscreen response at the edges of the screen? I know that manufacturers make the edges of screens - waterfalls are less sensitive, but something is wrong with my device and it's just awful ... The phone can respond perfectly to touching the edge of the screen for a while, but then, at one point, it stops responding to pressing. I press one point 4-5 times and the phone simply does not respond to my touches, then it seems to "wake up" and begin to respond normally to touches. This does not even happen at the very edge of the screen, but 3-4mm from the edges where the waterfall already ends ... This is very disturbing in everyday work, for example, when typing text. "Lags" of the touchscreen to the edges of the screen is the norm for this phone or did I get a defective phone?
Spoiler: Video
Your browser is not able to display this video.
I was lucky to catch this effect once in a video. If you look closely, you can see that the phone does not perceive touches, although they are quite accented. Here, everything else is not so deplorable, it happens that he does not recognize 5-10 touches in a row. This happens not only in the keyboard, but in it it is most critical ...
Have you tried adjusting "Side swipe sensitivity" option in settings?

I tried increasing and decreasing the sensitivity - it doesn't help. This option is responsible for increasing or decreasing the distance from the edge of the display, where the back gesture is triggered and does not really affect the response to tapping on the screen. Also tried disabling the gestures - still the same. I don't know if I can return the phone to the service center as defective. I would like to understand before that, is it a touchscreen defect or do I just need to learn how to type on the display type "waterfall".

Yes, of course, I flashed the phone through the recovery and made a complete reset of the system. With other keyboards the same, if they are the same in width. Only a narrower keyboard helps, for example, the Microsoft swift key can be adjusted in width, it works better with it, but this does not change the essence of the problem. The problem is not with the keyboard, but with the edge sensitivity. As I said above, it happens that everything works well and all touches are registered, it happens that the touchscreen does not respond to many taps ... I tried to hand over the phone to the vivo service center in my city, but it was not accepted, because the phone is for the Chinese market. I am trying to return the phone to the seller on aliexpress, I hope I succeed ...
