gmail links won't open in browsers - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hi guys, on note8 European DrKetan rom rooted.
Links from my gmail app, particularly to Facebook and Pinterest fail to open, when they used to. Not in Samsung, Chrome, nor Firefox. If I copy the link and put it in MiniOpera I can access the page.
Any help would be enormously appreciated. Thank you

[Q] Stock Android 2.2 Calendar files

Does anyone know where I can get the stock Android 2.2 Calendar?
*bump*
Does anyone know where to find an up to date apk file of the stock Android calendar (not the TouchWizCalendar)?
Is there still no better solution than the detour around CyanogenMod?
It's in the App Market.

Thank you for the info, but in my post I asked for the apk, a file which can be downloaded on the PC.
I believe this is it.
Calendar.apk
Here is CalendarProvider.apk just in case you need it.

Thanks again, this is exactly what I need at the moment.
A link to mediafire or any other filehoster is a good solution for the current release. In order to spare you from being bothered again in the future by me or anyone else with the same request I would like to know if there is a "direct source" which always has an up to date version?
I just did a search on Google, downloaded and uploaded it to Mediafire.
Google is the easiest way to get almost any file you need.
Also, most cooked ROMs come with an app folder with all current apps for the OS release.

I did that too, but I did not find any source apart from the cooked ROMs and some filehoster links which did not seem to be very up to date or "official".
Don't keep me in suspense which non-ROM Website did you use as source for the mediafire download link you provided?

I already mentionened, that I want to know if there is a better/more direct solution than following some outdated links posted by users in forums or always checking if an app is included in some mod.
I often come across free apps which can only be downloaded in the market. I already got the market running on the Android emulator (which requires some modifications described in several tutorials). But the market on the emulator does only show a limited number of apps compared to the market on a real mobile phone.
So the motivation of my request is also learning if there is a better solution than the previously mentioned workarounds.

Not that I know. I use the search on this forum and Google.
I found the calendar.apk file here.
Google led me there.
I download some of the new cooked ROMs and look at the files included with them. Sometimes there are newer versions of files. This is not quick or easy, but it's what I do.

Firstly how does not been able to install appbrain stop you from downloading anything from market?
Second, what do you mean you cant install it, Have you got the apk file? what happens when you run the installer?
Third, please use descriptive titles for topics, What you wrote does not describe this topic.
If you want help you need to give more detail, Nobody reads minds here.

Am assuming yours a GSM tab.
firmware tells you are running Froyo 2.2
Build number tells you what FRoyo ROM firmware you have I.e. JK2...this basically gives the date of the current build and the build version for your location/country...
Baseband tells you which modem you have in this JK2 modem
All the above basically means its on stock firmware not modded.
For not able to download from the market...do the following...go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications. Tap on ALL running applications, scroll down and tap on Market. In the Application Info page which opens up, tap on clear data and restart your phone...hopefully it should now work.
Appbrain no idea...btw appbrain is not the same as google market...

answer to your first question... my gmail account does not detect my galaxy tab as a device or for some reason isn't getting synced.. although when i created my new gmail account it showed the round sign which you get when it is being synced with.. but whenever i go to the android market and log in... it doesn't detect my galaxy tab and says there are no device synced with my gmail account... and because of that i can't install any softwares ...
secondly ... no i don't have the apk file since when ever i try to download it... i get that error message..
thirdly.. i apologize for my messed up english and i wasn't trying to look cool with my post.. or anything.. i am not from usa or uk so my english is not upto the mark like you guys and i am so sorry for that.. please tell me my mistakes and i will try to overcome them from now on.. again i am so sorry for the trouble..
and my thread tittle was meant to be "hi i am new xda devs forum and i always wanted to be in it but i didn't have the proper gadget for it all this time but now i am able to afford one android after so long and i am facing a problem with my samsung galaxy tab as i know nothing about it.. so i want to know is it jailbreaked or did i get the real thing ... and secondly i cannot download anything from the android market ... is it because i don't know how to do it?? or is it because i can't sync my gmail account with it?? cause when ever i want to sign in it says my device is not synced with my gmail account.."
besides if i don't need appbrain.. could you tell me the procedure to download from the android market??
So you sign in with you gmail account but it doesn't sync anything? Go to accounts & sync and see what is syncing. Doesn't make sense that it says there isn't a device synced with your account.
Never heard of this problem before. Only similar issue i've heard like this is after syncing some paid apps don't show in to market, not that it doesn't work at all..
And regarding downloading from the market. Open it up, choose your app, download it.
And your Tab is molded because it says 'root' in your kernel info but it sounds like you're running a stock rom.

Sorry, appbrain just won't work if you don't have the market installed, as AppBrain still lets the market handle all app downloads.

APK request

Hi,
I had a live wallpaper on my old phone (htc desire) called "Flame-Haired Shana LiveWall" available on android market (from spatulacorp). seems it's been removed from the market. but i can still view the market page, it just says my new devices are incompatible.
I was wondering if anyone who has it could upload the APK so I could try installing it directly? or would that not work?
Current phone: HTC Sensation XE

[Q] Newbie & Gmail App

Hi All !
I've just signed up to this forum and quite honestly I'm blown away by the scope and breadth of the information.
I have tried to look for what I want, but I can't find an answer.
So, my NEWBIE question is:
Is there a place on here that lists the "latest" versions of each app / .apk ?
I particularly want the latest / best gmail app for my kindle fire HD. I don't want to get into "rooting" just yet and so need to side load it - hey I'm getting into your jargon already !
Thanks,
Andy

The easiest way to find out the latest version of an app, is to go to the play store through your browser and search for the app you want. On the info page you will find the latest version. Then use something like aptoide(Google it), or else Google the app you want, followed by the version, followed by apk. Hey presto, you should get a few results show up.
BTW the latest version of gmail is ver. 4.5-694836.

I do not believe that works. I have those apps installed as part of the procedure to install Play Store, Accounts and Sync, etc. When I install the latest GMail from the Play Store, it installs just fine, it starts to sync mail, and just waits forever (never syncs mail).

[Q] HTC Notes after lollipop update

Hi,
I did a research on internet and this forum but could not find any thread about this.
after the Lollipop update on my HTC One M7 HTC Notes was removed and when I try to open it I am adviced to download Evernote.
I installed, created a username but I am not able to get my old notes.
Is there any way to get them back? I need them

HTC removed notes from lollipop and placed with evernote
If you sync your notes to evernote than you can get them back else no

If you did not create an Evernote account BEFORE the Lollipop update, most likely your notes were not backed up by Evernote. So there is no way to recover them.
Outrageous
WTF? I just updated as well and found I was unable to view my notes using the HTC Notes app. I followed the instructions to create an Evernote account and downloaded the app. I only got 7 of my notes back.
Someone from HTC should explain how to recover the notes. What are they thinking when they delete people's work during an update and force them into using an app they don't want or need!?
This is disgusting behaviour.
HTC - explanation please?
That's really weird guys since on my phone everything synced properly and I got all my notes back on evernote after installing and making an account.

Htc notes cannot be uninstalled
I got evernotes and all htc notes have got migrated to evernotes. now Notes application is still present in my phone and i am unable to remove it from there. not option available to uninstall. When i click to open, it go to playstore and opens all notes in evernote itself. Could some one tell me if you have faced this issue and resolved it.
I am using HTC one and Android 5.0.2 .
Didn't notice that before you mentioned it. Weird, but seems that's the order of things for now. Just use Evernote.

htc notes is a system app so you can only remove it if you have an unsecured kernel or using a custom recovery. Removing system app will result with not being able to install future ota updates which should not be an issue since the M7 shouldn't receive new ota updates... So I would simply use twrp's embedded file manger to remove htc notes app from /system.
