After I got the September patch which also included "AIS" in the update has completely ruined the camera on my HPlay (only video mode).
It looks extremely grainy when I switch to the video mode, almost like a VGA camera. This happened after the update was installed. And the problem persists even after I turn off the Stabiliser.
Anyone has experienced similar issues?
Build : 8.2.0.125(C675GT)
Edit : I tried some different camera applications off the playstore and they all work great, so the problem is with the actual stock camera app

Hi
I've recently load the latest hot fix from HTC website:
Hot fix for TyTN II photo quality issue
If you zoom in on a captured photo and notice grainy, maze-like patterns within the image itself (this problem is caused by too much sharpness enhancement being applied in bright-light environments), please download and install this hot fix to solve the problem. Sharpness parameters within the photo will then be reduced with only a minimal loss of image sharpness.
Now my camera does not work at all, all is see is black. Even if I change to the video call camera its also black.
Is there a setting to enable the camera or is the camera broken? What now?
Me too. Since I applied the update, I cant see anything, but can still take pictures and review/look at them afterwards. Very strange. Hope there's a fix that doesn't involve hard-reset. Uninstalling doesn't want to work either.
You guys might have to change the radio, look into that
Just wanted to say that this hotfix doesn't work with WM6.1.
So if you upgraded your device to WM6.1 you don't need the "Hot fix for TyTN II photo quality issue"
Greets...
had this happen right before flashing a new ROM. Reflashing a ROM fixes that.. assuming you have a correct radio installed, of course.
Try that : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2253873&postcount=371
It should fix it
I'm using SGS, and runing the Froyo.JHJP4 (Israeli Orange ROM),
One of the problems was with the camera that didn't work at first, so I installed a fix for that (GT-I9000PTRJP4_KERNEL.zip).
after that I tested the camera and discovered something very annoying:
The quality of the camera got much worse compared to the 2.1 version,
and it looks as if it's in constant "Night mode"... so the image moves slowly while moving the camera, and the images are very grained and quality is down.
I checked the settings, and everything look normal:
The night mode is OFF
and the Quality is at BEST.
Anyone familiar with this problem??
I really like this ROM and don't want to change it again, but the camera is important to me...
THANX!
Recently my m7s camera has been buggy. When taking a picture with the front or back facing camera the viewfinder doesn't update, it shows the first image from when the camera app was opened or when the cameras are switched. Videos work but there is a slight moment of a frozen image at the beginning of the video, another mention is before a video it says anther app is using the camera and is being terminated now, I don't know if this means I have a virus or if it is just a bug. I'm not rooted.
Any support would be appreciated.
When I use the front facing count down it takes a picture like normal I'm real time but the viewfinder doesn'tuupdate, it happens in every app that uses the camera so I'm not sure if it is hardware or software that's the problem.

erase cache/dalvik cache and see if the problem persist, if yes try a factory reset. If the issue still there after a factory reset its probably an hardware problem.
Hello
This is the problem:
I had install CM14.1 on my MI5 . The camcorder only works in the first video recorded after reboot the device, the second video only shows the first frame still and the audio is playing normally. All the camera apps that I tried have the same problem.
I already installed the 12/17 zip of the official CM14.1 and the problem continues.
How can I fix this? Thanks for your help!!

At the moment you can't fix it. Many people have reported same issue and I have it also. It just doesn't work yet. The recorded files are useless.
Also i have some "dark stripes" running on the screen, while recording video. That should also be common problem for now.
But as far as i understand, rom developers are known with the issue and working on it. Maybe it works in the next update?
It seems that cm14.1 build 20/12 has fixed the issue. According to my experience, you need to flash the latest version cm first. And then clear data of the "media storage". My camcorder works in this way.
In newest build 161222 video recording seems to work better. I can watch videos that I've recorded.
But the problem with "dark stripes" or "dark waves" exist. Anyone else having this problem? When using stock camera and recording video, dark waves start running on the screen. Footej camera works better.
I recently buy this Xiaomi 11T Pro, but encounter an issue with the camera. When I switch to Portrait mode while using the rear camera, the camera would freeze at the blurry scene when I first switch. I can switch to other camera mode, but cannot press switch to front or view previous image.
Front camera Portrait mode is working normally. Is there anyone encountering the same issue, and have you find a fix yet ? I have tried factory reset to no avail.

I have no problem here, using Global 12.5.7, if you have alr factory resetted without fixing it, you can try to test the camera to know whether if it's hardware issue or not.
To do this go to Settings -> About phone -> All specs, scroll down to Kernel version and tap it multiple times until an app called CIT opened, the keep scrolling down until you see all the camera modules, they should be rear, front, macro and ultra camera with the number 25, 26, 27, 29 respectively. You can then test them one by one to know if it's still working or not.

I have tried following your instructions and able to test the first three modules successfully. But for Ultra camera, it cannot start taking picture. Was you able to test ultra camera, or is it just me?

Funny, all modules show up for me, the preview works perfectly but failed to take pictures. May be you can try some 3rd party apps like Aida64 to see if the camera still works.
Which version are you on? Global or other?
Maybe see, if theres an newer version camera apk online from the one in your phone. Maybe that could fix the issue.
I don't know how but the issue is gone for now. I noticed that the problem is with the ultra-wide camera, which affect the 0.6x zoom, portrait mode, and the Ultra-wide lens. I have done one more factory reset, then when it freeze, I switch out and back to the camera, which seem to solve the issue. Now it work normally, and I can also test Ultra camera in CIT.
