Luckily I have my bluetooth mic and user that for 90% of my phone calls but still, why is this happening. Does anyone have any solutions? When i record voice msgs on facebook or whatsapp its only white noise.
Thanks in advance.

Try blowing out the mic at the bottom of the phone with your mouth or a blower.

Has the phone been underwater?
The phone was never under water but has been in the shower with me getting wet. I play music at full vol in the shower like i did with my S8.
I blew the mic with compressed air and nothing.
What gives
Sounds like it's time to contact Samsung.
So my mic works when i record videos! Only time it seems to work, just not for things like whatapp, messenger, phone calls. Weird!

I'm having the same issue, did you find a solution?
Try blowing air at an angle into the microphone hole at the base of the device. Sometimes pocket lint and dust and block the microphone.

It fix my phone by blowing the hole on the microphone thanks
Did you solve this problem?
How did you fix it?
I had the same issue. I found out that my bottom microphone stopped working after i dropped it some days ago. When i read about it some forums said that the connections may got loose. I watched a disasembly tutorial where i could locate the place of the connection and then, i pushed hard on the back where the connection was. And suddenly a pop. I managed to click the connection back and now my Note 9 work perfectly!!

Hello,
My HTC Diamond on last week gets "MicroPError" and no backlight.
I dismounted the phone to clean the interior and fix the connections inside, after mountin it, the backlight was fixed and I was happy with it, because I could fix the problem on my phone, but when I make the first call, i realised that I fixed one problem and get another one.
So now, the problem on my phone is when I make or when I receive a call no one can hear me.
Can someone help me trying to fix my phone.
Best regards
Ya i can help you. The problem is the with the 2 golden hook like connectors.[ Near the camera ] You might have bend it in the process of cleaning.
To be specific , the top portion of the mobile when removed controls the speakers. You can easily spot the golden connector and make sure that it touches the upper metal connector when closing the top cover.
top cover is the one above the battery in this pic

Hello,
Thanks for your reply, but it didn't solve my problem, I checked what you said, and the connection is normal.
By the way this is not the connector for the speaker? My problem is not on the speaker, my problem is on the microphone.
My problem is not ear the others, but the other can't ear me on a phone call, so the problem is on the microphone, don't you agree?
Do you have another idea for this problem?
Best regards.

Check your microphone connections at the lower bottom . One with a black cap.
Hello again,
Can you please help me identifying the microphone.
Best regards
Hello again,
I checked it again, and the connections of the microphone sims to be fine.
I think the microphone itself is damaged, because I make another test.
I tryed to use the Voice Recorder, and found that if I talk normal on the recorder, when I play the sound, my voice is very low, almost not earable and a lot of noise, if I talk louder, when playing the sound my voice is already possible to ear, but also with a lot of noise, this is the reason for thinking that the problem is on the microphone. By the way, the black cap of the microphone falls down when I opened the phone for cleaning on the first time, is it normal.
If the problem is, as I think on the microphone, is it possible to replace the microphone, or it must be replaced the pc-board.
Best regards.
Hello, today i wake up with a funny problem, it seems that the mic is not working properly on calls, but it do work on hands free mode...
So after checking and make several calls, i realize that it also work on regular calls, but i have to speak closer to the mic, otherwise it wont register my voice, its like there is a setting who go nuts all of a sudden...
Anyone with this kind of issue? will a full restore work things out or i'm doomed?
Hope theres no dust in the mic hole. Also try calls with noise reduction off.

My micrphone doesnt work too, but when in speaker mode it owkrs when trying to speak with somebody on the other line. I think the built in mouthpiece is broke
Mine did this earlier in the year, I think dust got in the mic, I got a new mic/USB board off eBay for about £4.00 and replaced it myself, really easy to do too
Dave
Hey folks,
I had the problem with the stock ROM and now I have the similar problem with jackeagels 5.5.1 (SM-G800F).
My microphone works sometimes and sometimes doesn't. People I want to call can't hear me. Eventually after a few calls they do. This is a state I don't want to stay in so does one has any idea what the problem could be? A while ago I pulled some dust out of the mic hole (with a needle) but that doesn't seem to be the problem here
Mines always been dust in the hole. Get compressed air can and blast it. Very annoying.
Hey Guys!
I have a similar problem but only when I use the internal mic, the problem does not occur when I use my headset.
Sometimes, the people I'm calling say that they can hear me very quietly.
Mostly, they say that they hear a constant noise or sound like a "bom bom bom" which is in the background. I can't hear this sound myself and as I said it does not occur when the headset is plugged in.
Any help is appreciated!
Regards, Jens
What phone model? What OS?
The main mic is at the bottom, near USB port. Recording a voice note without earphone, of course, works? The mic hole is dirt or blocked somehow?

Thanks for your reply.
It is a G800F with CyanogenMod 13.
I tested the issue after my initial post with the voice recorder in detail.
So the sound is a kind of buzzing like in the early days of mobile phones when you put your phone near a radio and you get an incoming call.
When I record with the voice recorder, then I hear the buzzing. It is stronger when I say something and quiter when I record silence. Then I also made the same test with my headset, and, unfortunately the buzzing also occured. The intensity was bit lower I think but the sound was there.
Unfortunately, I never tested it with the stock rom. Could this problem be related to a software problem? I'm not sure if I backup my CM and install a stock rom for testing...
Thx!
Yeah, the best way to mak sure it's not software is backup and going back to stock. If it still doesn't work then you have a hardware issue almost certainly...
Hi all!
I noticed that when I use any earphone/headphone with a mic, I can hear my own voice during a call. How can I disable it? I'm quite sure it wasn't like this before, but I don't remember doing anything (and can't find the option either), I find it really annoying.
It's only when I use the caller. If I send an audio using whatsapp, for example, it works okay.
Thanks!!

I have Sony headphones and can't hear any such feedback, have you tried different headphones?
Yes I've tried differents headphones.
It happens when my mouth is close to the mic. If I touch the mic, I can hear the "touch" as well. Maybe it's happening since the last update, but I'm not sure
(maybe it's normal? can you try touching the mic while calling to hear if there is a sound?)

I only have one set of headphones that have a mic built in and no, no feedback at all. In fact I can't hear my voice at all, which is a little odd, but then again they are noise cancelling.
I see.
I'll keep checking the phone options then. I tried with the same headphones in another phone, and it works just normal, so it's something with my device.
Thanks for the help!
Hi,
I am using S21 Ultra Snapdragon version. I am having issue with my microphone which is adjacent to charger plug. It only works when i put my mouth real close to it or at straight plane. During voice call, the person receiving my call complains of hearing voice in fluctuating volume (sometimes loud sometimes small in seconds). I am on latest firmware. I have already tried cleaning my the hole of microphone. Please help.
Thank you.

If a factory reset doesn't help, it could be a microphone hardware issue. Better to take it to the service centre and get it checked out. Somethings can't be fixed with a software solution
Thank you for your reply. I had tried factory reset but no help.
This phone was left as a gift to me and unfortunately, in my country, the official service center doesnt repair phones from abroad. Also, I had shown this to four technicians. One said its likely software because if mic was damaged it wouldnt receive any noise. Remaining had said it was hardware issue and all of their answers were different.(problem in microphone, problem in IC). Thus, Im quite reluctant to send them for repair.
Could you please help regarding possible faulty hardware. The problem is my phone sends fluctuating volumed voice during call either from sim or messenger.
Thank you
@Qhycliss1: Just interested to know: does the same symptoms occur when you make a voice recording? Eg with the samsung native voice recording app?
That may (or not) exclude microphone HW issues.
Hi and thank you for your reply.
While using official voice recorder, if i keep my mouth near the lower microphone then the voice is excellent. However, if i deviate my mouth by creating an angle (if i face the screen and record) the volume in recording decreases but still i can hear recording.
Of note, when I try loopback test (*#0283#), the rcv_1st mic has muffled sound but when i arch my hand to direct sound from mouth to mic) it is clear. I dont know if this is of any help.

Sounds like a defective microphone to me. Sorry I can't think of a software solution to help.
If I was in your situation and repair was not an option, I'd probably end up use USB headset with mic or Bluetooth earphones for calls. It's not ideal, but don't know what else to suggest.

Thank you for your reply. I had tried that code. There seems to be issue with rcv_1st mic.
