Moisture detected in the USB port - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi
Hi thought this might be useful to someone I have been getting messages regarding moisture in the charger port even though it has never been wet. The phone would not charge because of this . After reading some forums I found the answer was to clear the cache after that no more warnings. Not sure why this happened but a good result . Just thought it might help someone

It can definitely be fixed, it's just a matter of how easily it can be done. Have you tried some of the unusual combinations people have come up with to get into download mode. For example removing the battery, holding power + volume down + home and then reinserting the battery whilst these buttons are held?
Also, if you can't get into download mode that doesn't mean you have to sell it as parts. Samsung will be able to repair it, if they can't tell what you did then perhaps they'll repair it for free under warranty.
Sometimes I just wonder why people try to install low-level software on their device that ISNT MEANT for their device. There is a reason, the captivate has a different model number and that is because it requires DIFFERENT software.
This comes close to me flashing the BIOS for an AMD motherboard on my X58 Intel motherboard.
reason for people installing other software is in my case because im STUPID !!! I stood almost 24 h reading forums in my country and stuff , and i googled ODIN the first link was this ODIN ONE CLIK i entered read about things there and it seamed to be for my phone, and from there we know the story. I did not think for one moment that the soft was for another phone. After i broke it i read all 42 pages and realized that.
I can't get the phone to do anything.... i can't charge it ... it's like the USB does not exist. If i start the phone unpluged, when i plug the usb in turns oFF , ass soon as i take out the USB it will start again to flash the AT&T logo...
I hope if i can't fix it, that SAMSUNG service will change it or can repair it and not charge a hunormus amount of money for that
you have give me hope telling that it can be fixed by samsung , and i still am opened for advices from u guys

thanks, im not going to be upset if people make fun, they can do it because i was so stupid not to see that the soft is for another phone and brake it with my own hand. Isn't on this forum someone that works for Samsung and can tell me for sure what to do , or if the service can do ?

Im sorry but you screwed up. Im sure samsung can fix it but charge you heaps of money. You could always "loose" your phone if you have insurance

Well there is a way of getting your phone working by putting a file on your sd card but you'd have to look for that .

Actually, you should try it... I've been told that flashing Intel boards with AMD firmwares allows unlimited overclocking! or not.

I'm sorry for that. It's a little bit of frustration speaking there. But I guess you have a way bigger problem. Although that post about putting the right file on the SD seems interesting (but I haven't heard of anything like that before).
But if you can, returning the phone and hoping that samsung will fix it will be the easiest fix.

Hello Friends,
Nowadays, I am facing a weird problem. Everytime when i was using my phone for a while, screen flickers and phone shutdown. When starting the phone, it says battery discharged or 1%, needs to recharge again and it happen in every 2-3 hours.
Also, i tried different roms thinking might be problem with the ROMs (i tried STOCK as well other ROMS). I also tried to calliberate the battery with different paid and free application but no luck.
Could you please suggest is my battery dead or some tweaks needs to be done?
Early help is really appreciated.
Thanks.

It is almost 1 year.
Need a new battery mate, this is normal around this time, I've had mine since November 2011 and it had the same thing happen. Have just ordered a new stock.
A lot of people started suffering with this after 10 months so you've done quite well to get 12 out of it.
For your info, thread on this matter:

Use pure alcohol and cotton buds and clean the pins. Don't think it will make a difference but can't hurt.

Hi,
your answer is here!. Seems to be a hardware short circuit.
maybe putting your open device close to a warm source to dry it will give you 15.031969% to save it...
Else, I fear you need Samsung service..
I don't mean to be rude but why did you open a thread here on XDA about this?
This site is for mobile phone/tablet development.
You have bought a faulty device, it happens.
You need to take it back for a replacement, simple.
I hope you get it sorted! It's never nice buying something and it not working properly.

i believe it got something to do with calibration or something related to software
as phone was flashed earlier and it might be something to do with flashing
i was thinking of writing NV calibration data from another phone to see if that may help, but thought of getting more ideas first.
WBR
Oh right, fair enough then. I thought it was brand new and you'd just taken it out of the box.

as good as new, only a few days used, sending it back would be costly
so i thought to get some ideas if it could be calibration data or something, as i have already flashed it but it didn't yield any result..

[Q] Temperature

Since yesterday my phone gets really hot while charging.
Both a standard charger and a USB connection to my laptop have this eeffect.
The only thing i can think of that i did, was an update of NFC software from playstore.
I have removed all NFC software and will test again tonight.
Anyone else with similar problems?

Don't bother. It is normal for phones to get hot while charging, especially when you are running heavy programs and Wi-Fi.
My phone did reboot once due to overheating. No big deal really.

I also wi'll be looking for it. I'll advertise you if I find the solution before.
There are two possible solutions. First of them is to root your device in order to underclock the CPU to 1,2 Ghz. You won't notice any performance decrease but a considerable heat disminution. The other one solution is to unlock your SP's bootloader, rooting it and install a kernel compatible with undervoltage. Then, undervolt it.
I hope this may help you.
Cheers!
Could NFC be the problem?
First off, thanks everyone for your reactions.
I am a bit dissapointed by the reaction from Sony:
If the battery gets around 60°C or more, you are right to be worried. Try to keep the battery temperature beneath 50°C for a healthy battery life, there are apps and widgets on the Play Store which can measure the temperature.
Make sure there aren't too many demanding apps running in the background, try closing some apps and see what impact it has on the phone (charging or not)
My problem seems solved however. I remembered giving OK to an NFC software update the previous day.
So what i did was undelete NFC software and do a cold reboot.
My battery drainage is back to normal (meaning LOW) and no heatproblems anymore.
Furthermore the heat semmed to be worst arounf the NFC contact area.
Since this is a company phone i cant fool arounf with it to much.
I am curious to know if anyone has had the same experience?
Thanks all and Bye

Battery Calibration issue

Could someone kindly point me to the area of know-how for an issue im having with my battery. After flashing many roms and restoring many backups, my phone is losing battery faster than ever without any services running. I have used a battery calibration app to assist in my issue but to no avail. It will drain very fast but lose ZERO percents over night and even gain 4 to 5 percent while the screen is off for extended time. THis led me to believe my battery is out of whack and needs some TLC pls help b0ss

Maybe no one has helped you because they don't know the answer. Look at the forums for this device, it's not very active. Most people have moved onto other devices. As far as I know, there is no way to calibrate the battery. Have you tested a different battery?

i thought this was a general request regarding batteries, not the device itself. Mod moved this thread here.. ive tried the apps, i also just deleted the batterystats.bin file and rebooted. Still hangs on 2 %. I did buy an offbrand battery that claimed to be 4200 MA but it wasnt. It was stock size and that battery was chill for the most part for a week then literally bit the dust. Wouldnt stay charged. It even weighed half the weight as my 2 year old original battery. So now im on the 2 year old one with this issue. Would you think it would be the battery itself making this happen? Or is it related to my software?

Oh I didn't know they moved it here, I thought you originally posted here. I'm not sure on S5, but on my old LG, after flashing a few roms the phone would act weird with battery life. I'm not sure about the specifics, but I think getting it back involved draining it to 0%, charging to 100%, then draining back to 0%, and repeating the process about 5 times. But that was a different phone, so I'm not sure. Have you disabled any background apps that may be running? I've disabled all touchwiz stuff I can think of so it won't run.
