My Galaxy Note 8 doesn't even have an option for wireless charging? Is that right?
How do I get the option to turn it on?
It'll just work if you choose to use it; I don't think there's supposed to be an option for it. See the attached image (I use a wireless charger daily)
Strange, in my menu (N950U1) there is the additional option to allow fast wireless charging. See SS (unfortunately in Dutch...)
Wireless charging does work indeed without any settings, as stated by oddbehreif...

Just curious, have you actually tried charging it wirelessly?

I have a 950F 128 GB, in settings, there is no switch or anything related to wireless charging, and 0bviously no fast wireless charging toggle, but, if I put it on a wireless charger, it does charge, moreover,, if I toggle the fast cable charge, it fast charges wirelessly, if put in such charger, as I see it, switches or toggles for wireless charge would be redundant

I don't have fast charging on (normally) but I did try with it on, too.
I placed the phone on a wireless charger - it didn't work. My wife's Galaxy S7 charged on the wireless charger I tried.

Where did you buy your phone from? From carrier or online store (not from carrier)?
Your phone might be defective so try warranty?
If from online make sure phone is not fake.
Maybe try another wireless charger?
They is no setting to turn it on or off its just on.
Yeah I think it's a fake phone as well..

Warranty claim, that's it
Really? Because it's supposed to just work with a wireless charger without changing any settings (and it isn't)?

It is up to you, I mean, if wireless charging is not working, there is something faulty in your device, I would claim warranty

Are you talking about wireless charging? Like putting a receiver in your phone and then resting your phone on a charging pad and have it charge without and cables? If that is your question then the answer is inductive or Qi charging.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/consumer/wireless-charging.html
Here is a video showing the Verizon note 2 with wireless charging.

Or if you are talking about charging your extra battery you can get a wall adapter for that.

Uhm, actually I didn't think about wireless, 'cause I knew that only the newest models have that module integrated, like G2 or Nexus5.
What's the difference between Qi and induction, pardon me?

That is what I meant. Thank u very much
From what I understand Qi charging is just that they have named the wireless charging platform for phones where as inductive charging is the actual science behind it all.
Unfortunately Verizon has made it somewhat difficult to make that happen on our note 2 but it can be done with some modifications.

Or also something like that:

or:

Almost all desktop cradle charges will only allow Note 2 with a thin tpu case or no case at all. Also, that other wall charger for a battery itself can only charge at max 500mA (1/4 of your typical 2A charging speed). I think for what you are looking for the cradle charger will be more appropriate.
I have been using this dock for about 6 months.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009UIVBBA/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It charges the phone and provides also an extra slot for charging a spare battery. I would recommend it.

No modification is needed, search ebay for qi wireless, you can buy a receiver that connects to the USB port, and the actual receiver goes under the battery cover.

Sorry, could you provide a link? I believe you are referring to one that uses an oversized case that plugs in to the micro usb charging port and has the charging antenna built in. I have seen these but it is far from an elegant solution. Also, does it allow for a pass through so you can still use the usb port while installed?
Edit: is this it?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qi-charger-...S_Cell_Phone_PDA_Chargers&hash=item3a84f8ea94

You can still use the oem battery cover, but if you have a international version, a dedicated receiver is available, so the USB version is not needed.
Hello all.
I've never messed with wireless charging since it's relatively new. I pre-ordered my Note 7 yesterday and have decided it's time. What kind of charger do I need? I checked out the Samsung site and it doesn't explain much. Any recommendations on cheap quick chargers?
Thanks!

I've tried plenty of different wireless charging pads and stands for the S6 edge and S7 edge. Most of them either don't charge unless you take the case off, some of them stop at 100% and doesn't keep it charged at 100%, some you have to place just right or it will keep pausing and charging over and over, then you have some that charge extremely slow.
I would advise just to get the Samsung Pad or Samsung Stand wireless charger. So far it's been the best at charging wireless for Samsung phones vs 3rd party chargers. I myself use a Samsung Pad for my room, which is not the fast charging version. Charges at a good speed, even with a thick or slim case on it. Worry Free. You should be able to find on Amazon for under $30.

Do you think it'll charge through a case with a flygrip? I figure I'll have to pull the case off but I was just hoping I could, lol.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
There's a high possibility that it won't charge with the flygrip, since it will elevate the phone from the charger. But until you get it, you won't know for sure.

I've gotten it to work with an Otterbox defender case with the clip on the back. So most likely, yes. But I can't confirm with a flygrip.

no need to overthink this any samsung charger or simply check amazon reviews to see whats good for others. I m using a choetech that I got on amazon which worked great with my Note 5 but was a little picky with my S7. But it was a fast charger I only paid $20 for but I was truly happy with it.
Like I said in the beginning dont over think it either get a good cheaper fast charger or just get samsung versions. fyi - I got the free samsung wirless chargers with my note 5 free gifts and they are terrible too me
What I found is that Galaxy Note 7 supports fast wireless charging like S7/edge. I tested with Tronsmart Chocolate fast wireless charger, maximum 10W output power (9V/1.2A). And it works well with other brands Quick Charge 2.0/3.0 power adapter, not only Samsung AFC adapter.

Did you ever test a wireless charger with a Flygrip? I use one on my Note (no case), and I'd like to get a Stand version - so in addition to the 1/4" thickness of the flygrip, I also need to see if the bottom of the stand has a wide enough lip to accommodate.
Ok I got my 128gb card and my Samsung wireless convertible charger today. I also have last year's wireless charger. I set my new wireless charger up and when connected my phone it says charging. When I put my phone on my older one it says fast charging. Also when I put it on the wall plug it says fast charging. Is anyone else having these problems?
Nope. My new Samsung charger came with a new adaptive fast charge adapter and usb c cable. Says fast charging. I'd never spend that much on a Samsung model. Still doesn't charge properly in portrait mode. My $15 youshare wireless fast charge base works just as well

I figured it out I have a 3.0 charging hub and when it is connected to that it does not fast charge. But if I hook my phone straight to the hub it fast charges. So it has to be a Samsung wall plug for it to fast charge.
Yup I have a 6 port anker qc hub but the fast chargers all require the stock wall adapter for some reason. The aftermarket ones are the same way

Notice the packaging for the new (Note 8) Convertible charger has been changed to a slimmer, nicer box. Wonder if they changed the charger it's self?
I have noticed mine will only say wireless charging and not fast wireless charging sometimes. If I take the phone off and pit it back on it jump to fast wireless charging.
Model: CLT-AL00 (Dual SIM)
Build: 8.1.0.131 (C675)
Location: India
Chargers tested: Original box charger, Tronsmart Quick Charge 2.0 charger, Choetech Quick Charge 2.0 power bank
How is the charging speed for you guys? It has been over 24 hours since I received this phone and charging is too slow for me.
First of all Huawei cheated us Indians by not bundling supercharger and choosing to include a 9V/2A charger instead. It would have been great if the phone charged at least to that spec.
In 30 minutes, my P20 Pro charges about 14% (i.e. from 4% to 18%). And I wasn't using the phone. I first tried the charger/cable that came with it (upon which the phone displays fast charging) then my old Tronsmart Quick Charge 2.0 charger and finally Choetech QC 2.0 16000mah power bank. Although Huawei does not use QC, it should at least charge on 5V/2A speeds.
I used a USB meter to measure the output and was surprised that the phone uses only 5V/0.8A regardless of whether the screen is on or off. My S8+ uses 8.8V/1.6A (with Tronsmart and Choetech) while the screen is off and 5V/1.5A when the screen is on. At 5V/0.8A speed it could take 3 or 4 hours to charge the massive 4000mah battery.
What about you guys? I am wondering if I have a defective hardware and should replace within the window.
Also considering the phone supposedly uses "AI" everywhere to learn your patterns, did the charging speed improve over time or has it been the same since day 1?
You will only get fast charging with the 1st party charger. Its proprietary technology.

I understand that. But even 1st party charger is only drawing 5V/0.8A power, just like a 3rd party charger.
Any 2A charger (1st party or not) should be capable of providing at least 5V/1.8A power. But here it isn't, which is why I am wondering if this is an issue with the my particular phone itself.
Does it have this written on the 1st party charger?

We don't get supercharger here in India. We get a 2A fast charger.
you will have to buy a supercharger from ebay.in. I just bought one for INR 1800
Quick charge should still give you at least 40% in 30 minutes. Your phone seems faulty to me
Hi, I have P20 Pro from over a week. I replaced Mate 10 Pro with P20 Pro and I don't understand why P20 Pro charges slower in my car than Mate did.
Mate was charge ~10-15% in 40-60 minutes when connected to car. P20Pro is charging ~2-3% at the same time.
I don't uderstand why. Both of phones have the same battery, the same CPU. That difference with charging exists only in car.
Thanks in advance for any solutions

To know 2 ways how much Ampere it charges, then download app called Ampere it will tell you how much Ampere each charger gives. With SuperCharger it should say around 4500-4800Ampere.
The second way to know it's using supercharge is that it has 2 lightning icons connected in battery icon and that it says supercharge.
I've noticed that even if you have a supercharger, you need to have a proprietary cable AS WELL to get supercharge.
Otherwise you get bog standard charging, which takes about 2 hours to charge (I think. Never charge my phone from 0)
Hi buds, how i can know if my s10 is charging fast through wireless. I have one Huawei CP60: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/accessories/wireless-charger/
And i bought from gearbest 15eur (without wall adapter) promo in February.
When i put my s10 charging i get wireless charging message. But I'm sure i can't get fast wireless charging.
Any help? This wireless charger don't support? The original wall adapter from s10 don't feed enough to get fast wireless charging?
When you put in on the charger, if it says "wirelessly charging" it's normal speed, if you see "rapidly" then it's fast charging. I don't think it's the wireless pad that makes a difference, it's the power block. I tried a 20$ cheap wireless charging pad with an old HTC power block and the phone says "wirelessly charging". If I use the samsung power block that came with the phone, it says something like "rapidly charging wirelessly".

Ah yes, am not familiar with Exynos version. Did you try as suggested to search fast charging in main Settings window? Maybe it is under a different category.

You can monitor the actual mAmps output supplied to your phone by your wired/wireless charger using CPUX app. (free). Personally, I don't use wireless charging, am not sold on it, but anyways, the app will help you figure out how fast is the charging going on at any given time during the process. I use the orig. charger and when I plug it @ 25-30% it shows the mA input just below 3000 then gradually reduced until fully charged. My desktop USB 3.O gets only up tu 900mA.
Here are two screenshots of cpux if you're not familiar with that appk.

Not very fast, there's some convenience in wireless charging, but I'm not a fan of it.
Thermal battery throttling as of 38°C?
My Galaxy S10 (EU/Exynos, stock) starts to reduce charging power from 11W to 6W above 38°C battery temperature. Test have been made with different original fast charging power supplys and wireless chargers. When i use a fan to cool no power throttling at all. It's summer now in Switzerland and i stated much higher charging time. Normal?

Strange. My s10 is exynos as well and the option is there. I use wireless charging occasionally for convenience but prefer cable charging (set to standard mode). If plug in Samsung charger it says Fully charged in 1hour 20 minutes. With other charger (Huawei) it says 2 hours 30 minute. So I think it depends on the plug and its output power. Also I charging my phone when it is around 10%.
Oh and one more thing: if using wireless charging phone gets hot.

Means that Samsung reduces charging power as of 38°C to prevent more heat and therefore reduced battery life... makes sense.
