If you are on millennium ROM or any one with Magisk, install Viper4android from the magisk library. Just download and it will install automatically.
Just make sure you have Uninstaller app to uninstall Samsung's stock sound alive; Viper won't work with Soundalive present.

Make sure it IS working, you can have "Dolby surround and pro logic" IRS; which can make sound pretty loud.
I will try attaching it, after you have it. Go to convolver, press on IRS, it should give you error of some sort, after that copy the file in the viper4android folder in the internal memory>kernel. Boom, it should be working.
PS: I can't attach the file but Google it you may find it.
OR just turn on playback gain, you can adjust it in the settings, in which it can go as far as "extreme" gain; aka the loudest.

Viper4Android for Android Nougat is out but after installing it I realized that MusicFX is still present in my ROM and V4A is not working inside all apps.
So I have created this simple Viper4Android Cleaner script to take care of that.
I have tested this on all Nougat ROM available right now and it's working very well. The script will remove MusicFX, AudioFX, SoundFX or DSPManager.
Also in order to make V4A working inside any app, audio_effects.conf and audio_policy.conf needed to be replaced.
In short all you need to do is flash it in TWRP before or after V4A installation. After when you boot up there is no need to update driver anymore.
It's all done, just turn that switch ON in V4A app and enjoy your favorite tunes.
ViPER4Android_2.5.0.5_guitardedhero.zip can be found here.
Nice, good job!
v1.3 is out, some little script cleaning...

In the Viper app there is a lot of options to play. You will need some time to set it up but once you are happy with results you can save your profile so next time you don't need to do it again.
I also just added My Viper profile in firs post if anyone like to try it. Extract it to internal storage/Viper4Androd/Profile folder and load it up with Viper app :good:

No, the script will not remove old versions of viper or any other viper combinations. There is just to many files for me to track. This is meant to be for fresh ROM installations, to remove default effects and make ROM ready for V4A.
N5X should be okay but I don't have that device so I can not test it.

After trying out a lot of different sound mods and apps and patches I always came back to Viper4Android. Simple to use, great sound quality and a lot of customization.
Steps:
Flash the attached Magisk module (v4afx_v1.7.3.zip) through Magisk Manager and press volume up button twice.
After that reboot your device and enter the Viper4Android app.
Next, you need to set up the sound mod.
*I only use Viper4Android for my headphones so I will cover only that part but you could test out different settings for other audio outputs*
In the Viper4Android's menu go to UI setting and set it to expert.
Go to Headset and click Enable, I suggest you put on your headphones now so you can hear the changes in the sounds yourself and tweak them to your liking.
My settings on Redmi Note 5 Pro are:
Spectrum Extension (enabled): Strength: 0,5
FIREqualizer (enabled): Preset: Acoustic
Convolver (enabled); Impulse Response: BBE2.irs (extract the attached BBE 2.zip into Viper4Android/Kernel); Cross Channel: 30%
Dynamic System (enabled); Listening Device: High-end headphone v2; Dynamic Bass:5%
Viper Bass (enabled); Bass mode: Natural bass; Bass Frequency: 100 Hz; Bass Boost: 3,5 dB
Viper Clarity (enabled); Clarity mode:Natural; Clarity:6 dB

There are many Arise editions but I find the attached one simplest to use.
Steps:
1. Flash the attached file (ARISE Sound Systems Deuteronomy 2.2.3 Mac 'n Cheese Edition FINAL) through TWRP
2. Reboot to OS
3. Install Busybox (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.meefik.busybox) from Play Store
4. Open the Busybox app and install busybox
5. Enter the Viper4Arise app
Done!
Next, you need to set up the sound mod.

Hi, been trying dozens of Viper. Installs, but driver still Enabled=No. Have Viper on my rooted S5 for almost 4 years. Love it. I got a "new" 935-F using Superman Rom v2.8 7.0 with permissive Superstock Kernel. I tried your method and always wind up with the same Enabled=No on the driver.

https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=962187416754473447
Flash through TWRP, clear Dalvik and Cache, reboot.
If you have viber installed, use this flash tool to delete viber

And use the app Selinux mode changer from store and change to permissive.
This Dolby Atmos version.works together with Viber4android.
Install the same versions of viber and than aml through magisk manager what you see on the screen shot
Instal all the steps from viber with volume up!
For newer versions of Magisk (16.6) you need a newer version of Dolby Atmos.

It works for almost everyone else. Rather than just saying it doesn't work for you, if you actually want to get it working, provide more info.
Which phone do you have, what mods are you using?
What Rom ( version date) are you using, which kernel, firmware, etc.
Does CDLA work for anything else? Do you have a second pair of CDLA headphones to try?

I did the steps (used tsongming's and Oel's files) mentioned here and while Dolby works on speaker and any earphone with the 3.5mm adapter, when I use it with my CDLA earphones the sounds remains unchanged and when I checked it by flashing Paranoid Android with Dolby Atmos magisk module it worked on every earphone. What am I doing wrong?
Firmware 20s X727, default kernel, ROM: crdroid (latest version), using SELinux permissive.

First, be in Permissive mode while flashing these audio mods.
Flash Dolby and the Audio Modification Library.
Boot to system to confirm that Dolby is installed.
Add Black and Cheese Mod, through Magisk.
Use root privileged file manager and go the the sd card.
Look for a file called ariseparameters.prop open it as a text file and locate where it says " install.add.libraries"
Add =true it should read:
PHP:
install.add.libraries=true
Click save.
Add Black and Cheese Mod, through Magisk. ..Again, it will uninstall
Reboot to Recovery , flash: Black and Cheese Mod - Now it will be installed with the effects libraries now permanent because of the prop file change
Reboot to system
Now in viper you should no have the additional sound effects and presets.
Be sure to complete setup as previously advised by going into Viper settings, change "FX compatible mode" to compatible.
Select "Lock effect mode" and choose headset
Everything should now work.
