I did all the usual app cache clearing and system partition clearing but the battery life of my Note 8 is definitely not quite as good after the September security update. Can anyone else confirm similar battery behaviour?

I would say battery life does seem a bit better for me with the October patch compared to September's.
Battery life has been more or less the same for me. However I have notice that Asphalt 9 does use more power than Asphalt 8.

No noticeable change in battery as observed by me
No battery improvement. Its just monthly security update.
Now I also downgraded to lollipop
Battery problem I think will become auto stable,as now my phone get battery issue once in a week
Totally not worth using Lollipop for battery issue alone.
I will highly recommend you do the following:
- Upgrade to latest build.
- Root
- Use link2SD to move apps to SD card.
I have been using this setup for quite some time, and absolutely no issues.

Did you dirty flash? If so try factory resetting your device, anyway android n it's still in the beta stage for p9 lite so expect some downside

I have a VNS-L31 device and currently on B336 version. My battery life is super awesome now. Even though standby drops some percentage. When I use it, basically I can get 6 hours of screen on time with mobile data (4G). So no problem so far.

No I have tried factory reset multiple times along with wipe cache but Android OS bug doesn't go away.

I've read around the internet that the cause could be the geo-localization when there is no WiFi nor mobile data.
I have your same problem during the night time. This night I'm going to try to deactivate also the localization together with WiFi and mobile data to see what happens.
I will update you.
Anyway this is a beta so I think also that it is normal to have this kind of problem. I'm sure that this will be fixed in future versions.

What ia strange is that there is no battery drain when mobile data is on...
At least in my case...
hey Guys, I can confirm I am experiencing the same battery drain as well - Android OS is taking from 10-20% of battery usage and is always on the top. I'm in official BETA project with build 336 and despite factory reset and few other 'tricks' I still have this drain. Not sure if I receive any beta update, I will have to probably wait for stable release If anyone resolves the issue, please post it here
Awesome!!!
Android N vs RR
Hi all! This is my first post on this forum ?
So i just wanted to ask your experiences about battery life on these two ROMS: stock android n (vns-l31c432b336 and latest RR build.
If your tried both of these which one you recommend for better battery life? Im not so much into all of these RRs customization options and im gonna install ROM with best battery life. 4g always on, surfing and whatsuppin usually.
I am not sure about RR, but on B336 the worst result was around 5h SOT on LTE/WiFi (mixed) plus Spotify and YT a lot
Hi. I've been having problems with the battery life, especially about standby time. Battery has been draining at an alarming rate on standby. Any help?
Bumpin, got the same issue after updating to Nougat

I have been searching for Android OS battery drain in standby since January but still havent found any.
I dont know why most you guys have a problem with the battery... I had high battery drain but somehow I solved the problem. The only thing I did was disabling the 4G option and my battery life is awesome on N. At least for now...
Now I have 0-2% battery drain overnight.

I have one question for you, can you compare N and MM (according to you experience) of battery drain with 4G ON and OFF. Do you have more battery drain on N or MM with 4G ON?

It drains for me even on 2g. Android OS is keeping my system awake all the time -__-
For me the consumpiotn of Android OS is about 20% for me, is it normal?
Hi guys, has anyone else been experiencing poor battery life in the stock note 8 oreo rom? I've factory reset, switched off AOD etc. Same apps installed as when it was on nougat.
Thanks
Mine is doing the same. I reckon it will take a week or two to level out

i agree mine used to do that on nougat
I also have terrible battery life.
I've switched AOD off, as well as the weird Gallery settings (like Image Analysis etc), but it's still losing 30% battery while sitting idly for 3 hours.
I hope it does level out soon enough.

Maybe some of those apps aren't as optimized for Oreo yet. In any case, let it settle for a while after a major update like Oreo. I got over 5 SOT with my regular usage (27 hours runtime) on my first full charge after updating. Not bad, but it will improve a bit from there on my next 1-2 charges and hit 6 hours SOT like before.
I recommend you install betterbatterystats, give it permissions through adb, and let it run. Post some screenshots from the summary, kernel wakelocks, and partial wakelocks tabs. It'd make it easier to pin down the issues.
Okay guys, so it is the third/fourth day now and battery life has gotten better. This morning I did wake up to a bixby update, so maybe that was the issue? Anyways hopefully the battery life stays like this ongoing.
As soon as OEM unlock comes up I'm flashing a custom ROM ;P
How is everyone else's phones doing after this update?
Haven't gotten an security update since april?
I've got the update 8 hours ago so i can't answer that question. All i can tell you is that they've improved the camera and added Night mode to it
I just got it for my Indian CSC S9 and battery life seems abit better than usual. Will do some more testing and reply back.
Got the June patch a week ago. However, being the Snapdragon model on AT&T meant not getting night mode for the camera, and pretty much nothing else special either. Just the security patch.
So far, battery drain is about the same.
Sent from my Amazon KFKAWI using XDA Labs
So I use gestures instead of buttons and now the recents swipe up is too far over to the home button so 9 times out of 10 when I flick up for home the recents opens ? was fine before June update.
Do they even check their changes before releasing the updates ?
Sigh..... Battery life is abysmal, so peed off now.
My baterry after uptade June is **** ??
Idle/Doze battery life has improved a lot for me with the June update its not draining much through the night now, normal usage life is the same as it was prior to the update
I dont even have the June update and I feel like my battery is ****. I had facebook set to sleep if app is not in use. Disabling it completely to see if it helps but any other suggestions? I have the AT&T version running the May 2019 update.
Hi, How look situation with battery drain after update from 9.1.0.161 to 9.1.0.178?
I have no battery drain.
No issues here, actually seem to be getting better battery life in 178 than before.
No issues either, in fact I've noticed slightly improved battery life too - I also do a cache wipe every time there's an update.
Yeah got better than last time updated

I have de same problem, my baterry drain really fast, afther update firmware 9.1.0.178....really bad, I hope huawei solve this fast
Strange how it's only new members with a single post that are reporting issues...
I've noticed battery increase for sure.
178 was better battery-wise than 161, at least for me. I switched back just because I found the camera focus to be buggy in 178.
I did a clean install on both (i.e. backed-up everything and formatted the phone twice from recovery). I always do it this way, it saves time and possible bugs.

for me also more battery drain after update...
