It's meant for international G900F
G900A hasn't had the lollipop update yet.
No you cannot use that method to root AT&T G900A

So iam planning to unlock bootloader and obviously after that getting root. Ive searched for some tutorials but mostly found tutorials for different variants of moto x 2014 and dont want to risk using the wrong tutorial .
Can someone please direct me to proper tutorial of unlocking bootloader and rooting for XT1092 Android 6.0 ?

How can I get root?
well i wanted to do the same as you. after unlocking the bootloader i wanted to root the phone but used a tut for an older version of android. I got in a bootloop and i fixed it by flashing original .img files on the device. Then i was running on 5.0 lollipop. So if you really really want that root acces, i would say downgrade your android version after unlocking the bootloader and then flash the files from motorola. Then follow a tutorial for android 5.0 for XT1092
File works fine in LGUP. Don't ask me how to install or use it - there's plenty of that already on the forums.
If you use this to upgrade from a lower version, you may get hard bricked if you attempt to then downgrade again in the future. I know for a fact that you cannot downgrade past ZVD, but I do not know if they also incremented the bootloader in any versions between ZVD and ZVI. So I would only recommend upgrading if you know for a fact that you will never want to downgrade. And maybe someone else will be able to chime in on whether you can downgrade from this version.

If anyone wants just the system.img (for making custom ROMs or extracting bits and pieces), you can find it here. It's untested as I don't own a G4 anymore, but at the very least, don't flash it if you're not already on ZVI.
For anyone who wants to extract the system.img themselves, just download and compile LGBinExtractor, point it towards your TOT, confirm that it's a valid TOT, accept all the prompts, and wait. The tool doesn't fully recognize G4 TOTs and won't automatically name the dumped partitions, but the system.img is usually the largest (around 4.3GiB) and last one dumped.
Oh man I wish I knew how to use the img file to update mellowmallow! I hate that I'm stuck using an older ROM just because I want to keep wifi tether option! I see no way to maintain the free wifi tether hack if I upgrade to ZVI, if anyone knows a way?

In this case there is not one but. A lot of the newer sammys u can flash global firmwares and unlock or use it on other carriers. Or at least u can with the us carriers.

Hahaha. It would be extremely easy for me to make one. It would have all the Sprint software still but it would be GSM unlocked...

Can You? I need ZVI unlocked.
I bought a new G4 with ZVI (locked) installed. I want to downgrade to ZVA, ZVB or ZV5,6... So that I could install a custom rom bcz there is no way to enable APN settings in it. How can I do that, any help?

Didn't someone post that they were able to do use the LG G5 sprint unlock method posted ..........for their LG G4 sprint on ZVD ? They said it worked until they took an update.
I know ZVF can be downgraded to ZVD. So if ZVI can be downgraded to ZVD (not sure), then maybe that is a possible working unlock with ability to edit/add apn.
So the first question is if ZVI can be downgraded to ZVD.

Hey Guys I wanted to drop by and ask if anyone knew of any custom kernels available for a BL unlocked, rooted, TWRP enabled At&t v40 crossflashed to US Unlocked. Thx in advance for any info. I know the sources were released a while back but now that we have unlocks I still don't see any kernels around.

The LG V40 TELEGRAM group. You must get Vlad to do a bootloader unlock first then you can flash twrp.
