I just rooted my moto g6 play. I would love to get rid of all of the bloatware. Is there a list somewhere, or any information on which apps are safe to delete/disable? I don't want to delete/disable something then something go wrong. Thanks!

What bloat ware? Most can be uninstalled without root. Not much bloat in the system of a moto.

I was wondering if i could flash this VRZ_XT875_5.7.983.xt875.Verizon.en.US_cfc_01.xml.zip using Safestrap (in Safe mode) so i can have a Stock Rooted Rom without the bloatware. I dont want to delete the bloatware in my Non-safe system because i want to be able to update if the send any OTA updates for it. Has anyone tried this?
Not a good idea!
Why don't you just buy Titanium Backup Pro from the Market and freeze all the bloatware? That way when a OTA is available all you have to do is unfreeze the bloat.
I thought about that. If you freeze it its still there right?
My thing is, I dont like opening my app drawer and seeing a bunch of useless apps that i have to scroll through to find the one im looking for.
Try a new launcher that lets you exclude apps from the app drawer (as opposed to Blur, which to my knowledge only lets you include apps into categories).
I used to use LauncherPro, which has that exclude functionality. There are other launchers that work better with rooted phones though.
Alright i will try that. Thanks guys for the different suggestions. Very much Appreciated!

Freezing keeps them on the phone but not seen in the app drawer. You can also create a new folder in the app drawer and just put in what you want to see, the open the app drawer to that folder.
just do a back up in recovery before you delete anything so when you want to do an ota update you can just restore to the backup.
Rooted non dev VZW Moto X, want to try and freeze the notification to pull the OTA. I froze "updater" in TiBu and I still get it. I also disabled notifications for framework in the apps list and I still get it. Any other suggestions?

I have XT1053 and not Verizon version. I froze MotorolaOTA 1.0 in TiBu and it took care of update notifications for me. My coworker has Verizon DE edition and it worked for him too. Is that the app that you froze?

I used TiBu so can't help you. It was worth the $6 to me. But you can just download root browser and navigate to /system/priv-app then press and hold 3c_ota.apk and select rename. Rename it 3c_ota.apk.bak. Then when or if you want to take the OTA, just rename it back to 3c_ota.apk.
Also, you can use root browser to delete the OTA file from /cache. Navigate to /cache and find the OTA and then press and hold then select delete.
Hello, everyone. Long time reader, first time poster.
I just finished rooting my new Developer's Edition GSM unlocked Moto X. As I started to freeze the usual apps that are necessary in order to stop OTA notices and lessen the likelihood of sending my device into a bootloop by mistake, I noticed that the apps that I had on my Verizon Droid Maxx aren't here. I saw some threads that stated that I needed to freeze update.apk, MotorolaOTA, FOTA, and rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak.
Of all of those steps, I've only been able to do two of them: freezing MotorolaOTA and renaming otacerts.zip.
Where can I find the other two apps to freeze? Is it even necessary if I've already frozen MotorolaOTA and renamed otacerts? When I had my Droid Maxx, I was unable to click on System Updates in About Phone without the app crashing. Here, after freezing and renaming these two apps, I can still check for updates, which leaves me a little worried.
Thank you for your help.
3C_OTA.APK is one you want to rename.. It exists in /system/apps or /system/priv-app (I forget which).

Great, I went ahead and renamed that one 3C_OTA.APK.BAK. I can still check for updates in System Updates, which is something I couldn't do on my Droid Maxx after freezing all the OTA apps.
Is that normal for this phone? Are there any other apps / files I need to take care of?
Thanks for the reply!
Any other ideas? The fact that I can still check for an update makes me nervous. I'm just trying to confirm that this was all I needed to do.

MotorolaOTA 1.0 is what I froze on my retail X (while it was downloading an update) and as soon as it was frozen, the download icon in the status bar disappeared :good: I'm not sure where the apk is located to move/rename since I used tibu to freeze it.

Renaming 3C_OTA.APK has worked for me and others who wanted to block OTA notifications..
here are links to just a few times before that it has been suggested...

I'm sure if you searched, you could find more instances of it being suggested, and successful.

That's all I froze on my phone too.
I got the s5 Active and recently rooted and flashed safestrap. I was wondering what the best way to remove the bloat from the stock rom was? Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you want to do. You can install a ROM that is bloatware free, freeze apps with Titanium Backup, or you can manually uninstall them.
For the first option you would just have to search for a bloat free ROM such as the one I'm running: Extreme Debloat.
For the second option, you would root your phone, install Titanium Backup, and just go down the list freezing one application at a time until you're satisfied. (I only specifically froze the AT&T apps in my app drawer, nothing outside of that).
For the last option, there are a few applications that you just run and they uninstall a "list" of bloatware. I don't remember where I saw it, but the application was made by someone on XDA.
I'd just use TiBu and remove what you want instead of a ROM that someone else decided what stays and goes as a lot of stuff is dependent on other stuff
Thanks for the help guys.
Guys, please help.
I'm using an app that does not work with the rooted android.
Is it possible to root and then delete some useless Verizon apps and then unroot a Verizon LG G2?
TIA

Good for enterprise.
I must not have root and also I don't want to use cloaking apps.
Thanks.

As far as I know, there's no way to unroot once rooted (except going back to stock, but that'll just put the bloat back in). I read quite a bit regarding modding and have never come across it.

Probably gonna have to stick to stock then... You can disable most apps via App Manager...
Thanks.
You can unroot from super su. If you scroll all the way down in the supersu settings It will say complete unroot. You can do that. I've checked it and root went away. Although I didn't modify any files/recovery/kernel or delete anything.
