n920V update question - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody, i have a question, i hope you can help me with it, around 6 or 7 month ago, i bouught a note 5 refurbished from aliexpress, the phone works almost perfect (camera trembles sometimes when i start it) but appart from that, is physically good.
The thing is, when i boot up the phone, the android logo has a "custom" with a open lock on the image, and i've read that is a thing that mainly lock the android pay freature (also, the phone is not rooted, just seems like a slightly modified version or something).
So: I wanted to upgrade it, but seems that the image they put lock that freature, and they say me that upgrading it would void the warranty. Now its been 6 month so no warranty for me, its there any way to check if i can safely upgrade it? because im afraid that if i download a version, and flash it, it will be bricked because i did something wrong. What i need to attach here so you can help me know if its safe to upgrade?
Also, why the hell i have a "united arab emirates" thing on my phone info? like Track ID and TA:
Thanks everybody that can help me. and Sorry for my english.

BRICKED Diamond, where to send for repair? PLEASE HELP

I live in Australia, and have a Telstra branded Diamond, although it is unlocked ( i use Optus Sim card) anyways i was hoping to install unbranded cooked rom found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422417
I didn't know I needed to install HardSPL, i tried but it failed so i continued on (i know I'm retarded) so i tried using the Diamond Unlocker.
I hit Next, Next, Next until it got to progress bar it stayed on 0% then jumped to 100% and said that my device wasn't compatible or something like that, at that point the image on the diamond faded to black screen. I This happened when i tried Hardspl but i just hit reset and it turned back on alright.....this time it didn't, it doesn't react to the power button at all, iv tried hitting the reset button, booting into boot loader even though I'm pretty sure it doesn't have one, and tried MTTY which I'm pretty sure it pointless because my diamond doesn't turn on.
Please share any knowledge or ideas you have on how i can fix my Diamond, or where i can send it to be repaired (I have no warranty with Telstra by the way)
Is my diamond bricked for life?
EDIT: In the hope that my Diamond will return to life by holding the power button, i have noticed i can still feel the vibration it usually makes when turning it on although NO DISPLAY

Thats the only problem, i have already thought of this, although i don't have proof of purchase anymore, can i still get it repaired without proof of purchase?
ANY Replies or ideas are appreciated, please HELP
I would contact them without a receipt you may have to pay for the repair
but I don't see why they should not make money of you repairing your broken device
Thanks for the reply, my question is, i bought this phone off a friend and knowing him he got it from someone else who probably has stolen it, so if i take it in for repairs and it is stolen I'm screwed....right?.....are they able to I.D a stolen device?
Thats what you get when you buy a stolen device. You'll pay it back one way another.
I guess but for $250 who wouldnt take it. I guess i should have read ALOT more instead of rushing a flash. So last question, does anyone know if its physically possible to fix the phone, if it be replacing a bit or get a technician to hardwire or something......is it possible? or am i stuck with a nice new paperweight?

I think its a case of what goes around, comes around.
Hey
I have a similar problem. But mine is bought and original and I have a receipt. Anyways, there's no way around the sending, is there? Because, I think, it'll take a lot of time and regarding the fact, that the mistake is on my side, the warranty is void, isn't it?

master reset

Can I do a master reset? I'm rooted & using CM w/kspec.
Considering sending my phone in for replacement/repair. Not sure if I can tolerate the off-color screen & cycling auto-brightness. Thought it wasn't a big deal and I'd wait for an update - but after reading other forums I'm not sure if or when there ever will be an update.
The guy from Google suggested I try to reset the phone. I know that wont fix anything but thought I'd give it a try...
What do y'all think? Should I just put up with the slight off color screen & hope for a software fix? (That's what the HTC guy said to do). Or should I try to exchange it.
I'm rooted I know but HTC is still good about replacing rooted phones right? I should just instal the stock rom right before shipping?
Srry for the multiple questions
..........
When you just rooted it is possible to revert via factory reset. If you flashed anything else then your bootloader is unlocked and there is no known method to revert that. warrenty is void. maybe HTC won't notice, but if they do, you would have to pay at least the shipping charges.
if you have already flashed another rom, do you have amon_ra's recovery image? there is a wipe -> factory reset option. there is another one in the settings menu somewhere (on the "normal" os), but i don't know what it really wipes and what not.
to bad you guys live in the US. i could even break all warrenty seals and get a repair (at least for products I bought here)
HTC has been quite good about honoring the warranty on hardware defects regardless of unlock/root.
thanks
i dont know what to do. the phone looks fine really now but that is because im using it in a bright room. its only when on low brightness or in a dark room that it looks really purpley...
guess i will return it... because there is also the auto brightness issue as well... or do i wait for the supposed software update??

[q] help please!

I bought this HD7 off of craigslist, i was checking it out and everything seemed fine, it was brand new.. no box or anything, just the phone..
until i go home and realize this phone is in demo mode!.
the phone is fully functional, except for the Windows live E-Mail. And the screen doesnt stay off, it turns on after a couple of minutes and goes to a demo screen showing off the phone.
Wtf! can someone help?.
this douche sold me a stolen demo phone, i called him and he said its bc the phone isnt released yet, and once it is, it should be fine.
Plug it into your Zune software and see if you can run updates on it or do a hard reset
Moved to general.
I tryed, it says there's no updates available. And there's a email stuck in the phone, [email protected]..
How do you hard reset?.
Hold both vol up and vol down and press the power button hard resets.
It lets me reset it, but it boots back up with dome fake contacts, emails, messages , and does the same thing.
It sounds like the software on the phone is purely for Demo.
What you would need to do is flash it with software that comes with a Normal HD7 and for now, I don't think that's possible.
Thats why I am very skeptical of deals on craigslist.
Why else would they have no box, charger or anything else a week after release?
Theft, demo unit, and/or scam...
How do i flash roms onto this phone?, sorry im new to windows, i came from a captivate..
Yeah craigslist sucks eggs, bunch of junkies on there lol. It just caught my eye, and i wanted it.
can you upload your tmoUS rom for me and explain how to flash it?!
i'd appreciate it alot..
THANKS!
I bought mine on ebay and I got a demo rom too. IM PISSED. I found a rom for tmobile specific but there are no instructions on how to flash these things. If they came with demo roms is it still the real deal?

Guys, RETURN your phone, demand your money back. Otherwise, you're out of luck. You got scammed.
There's no way to flash ROM's on these phones. Maybe in a month or two there *might* be a way to flash them, but WP7 may also never be flashable.
To flash a HD7 you need to stick it into boot loader mode ( turn the phone off, hold down the vol down button and at the same time turn it on.) Then connect it to the pc make sure you have the Zune software installed and windows should find the correct driver.
Try and flash the network rom I think the US is tmobile and the UK one is O2 you could try the HTC rom you may be lucky.
Yeah, go to the HD 7 rom development thread and there are original carrier roms. I believe those are the ONLY thing that will flash to your phone. I swear I read someone with the same problem (demo software) and that's how they fixed it. Good luck.

SM-N950F Unresponsive Touch Screen

Hey folks
Got my Note8 couple weeks ago, and not too long ago, the touch screen started abruptly not working correctly. It's explicit to using fingers, with S Pen all works fine. The symptoms are usually that I can't pull down the notification bar, and if I try, the whole screen locks up and only way to get back control of the screen is to use screen lock and reopen the phone, or using S Pen. It doesn't work any better with my flip cover on or off. Was just thinking, does people here have same symptoms, and since here are people who really know about this stuff, I would like to ask that is this more a software problem than a hardware one. Does someone possibly have a fix for it/developing one? Thanks!
I had that issue, but oddly only after sim-unlocking my phone with a code from a company.
I ended up flashing a completely stock, unbranded version of the firmware and everything (minus my camera force closing) was fixed. It was even quicker, and didn't have any lag!

Hey, thank you for your tip. Could you share the info about what version you flashed, and where to get one? Cheers!

You're welcome!
I've flashed the latest BTU version for myself (as I'm in the UK)
The best thing to do is look at UPDATO, go to firmwares, type in N950F and sort by country (pick yours) and then click on "date". It'll arrange it by the newest available.
Updato is basically sammobile; but it has faster downloads.
It's all legitimate and provided you flash it correctly, you won't have any issues regarding Knox and warranty.

Hey, could you share some advice as to flash a device without breaking warranty? Even though in the end it doesn't really matter since I have all-inclusive warranty, so if I end up bricking the warranty I can just trash the phone and get money from it that way, but it could be nice to try and retain the warranty still. Thank you!

Please don't quote me on this; but I'm sure others on here will be able to confirm.
Flashing an official ROM via ODIN won't mess with the warranty (i've never had to use the warranty- fingers crossed!).
It's pretty simple; in the file you download, each individual file within the *.zip begins with a few letters, i.e AP or BL.
Put each into the relevant field in ODIN (they also use the same letters- AP, BL etc).
Put the phone into Download Mode, connect it, make sure you have your drivers installed and then run it.
Simple really.
Also, just a few things I do when flashing out of habit- I don't know if it affects it, but it's just stuff I always do out of paranoia:
Use the original cable, and do NOT connect the wire to a USB hub, plug it directly into your PC.
