Cell Near Not Working Properly While Screen Off - Tasker Tips & Tricks

Hi friends.
In tasker I use cell near profile. My Os is Android 6, phone is HTC One M8 and rooted.
But while screen is off this profile doesn't run properly.
In tasker settings I selected "Use reliable alarms" and "Cell Workaround".
I exclude Tasker from battery optimization.
Probably Tasker is in deep sleep while screen is off.
How I can solve this problem?
Thanks in advance

My device HTC One M8.

I seem to remember seeing that there are HTC OS related power settings beyond battery optimization that affects your device. Take a look through your settings for anything that HTC has added.
I'll try to search for what I read once that makes me think this.

Thanks a lot
I looked through my settings for anything that HTC has added.
I couldn't find anything.

I'm not finding the discussion I thought applied. [emoji853]
Have you tried:
Preferences -> Monitor -> Display Off Monitoring -> Cell Wake Screen

Yes I have tried.
If I unlock phone, cell profiles work properly.

And is your location mode on? If it's on battery saving, try just having it on.
I don't use (have never) cell near. But, things are different starting in android 6. Either the location mode is getting killed when the phone is off, or Tasker is.
Power management apps like greenify will also affect screen off performance. Or other mods like a wake lock blocker installed, xposed, a Magisk module...
The cell work around setting should be used when scanning for towers of towers are not being found otherwise. If your device connects to a tower not in your list for the context, then the context will not trigger.
Geofencing might be more reliable for your use, or WiFi near.

Thanks a lot for your interest.
I shall try turn on location.
Also i will analyze greenify and xposed settings
How i can use geofencing?

I would use the AutoLocation plugin. FAQ

voice command 1.6's BT responsiveness

I'm sorry if this has already been posted somewhere but I couldn't find anything on it. I finally got around to installing this on my MDA using it with the SonyEricsson's SBH-662 (or something like that). The original Voice Commander responds rather quickly but with the VC 1.6, I have to press that button on my BT headset 6 times just to get the voice prompt. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
nxZEN 5500 and MS Voice 1.6
My MS V works near flawless. I hold the button for about a second and I hear the beep in my earpiece. Recognition and response greatly improved.
You DID install to the device and not you storage card, right?

I have to agree VC works very well even better than version 1.5. From what i have heard you can now install to the storage card but perhaps we are seeing the results of doing so. When I first read the title to this thread I said to myself hmmmm. I do think that this version is just a little slower than the previous one but it may just be me anyway overall I'm quite happy with the way it works and think i will most likely buy a copy for my wife's SDA she keeps asking for it.

This is what I'm experiencing:
the MDA goes turns off (screen is off). I press the BT button on my headset to activate VC and the MDA turns on. the problem is that it doesn't get out of the My Info screen. If I get out of that screen, I'm alright.
Wordaround:
1: go to Start->Settings->Owner Information
2. proceed to Options tab.
3. Untick "Identification information" under "When the device is turned on, display:"
I guess no one has that ticked.
PS: This is also true if you have your device pswd protected. You will have to press the BT button again, after you have entered your password.

I don't want to sound harsh here, but this has to be said in the most realistic form possible...
READ THE MANUAL!!!!
But since someone else will probably ask the same question a million times i'll copy and paste the information from the manual for you...
The Voice Command Button doesn't work when the password screen is displayed - The password screen blocks the Voice Command Button to avoid other people from placing phone calls while your device is locked. To enable, uncheck the 'Password Protected' option. Note some organizations prevent this override from working due to increased corporate security measures.

Honestly in the future read the manual it will make you look wiser and make people like me less upset.
I did get a hold of the manual after the post and realized that check box. However, that tick does not help by pass the "My Info" screen. I still have that problem. Hence, my workaround.

If your workaround fixes it then it can serve as a resource for people when the manual isn't working...
I recommended the manual simply because i had the problem when i first installed VC 1.6 and after ticking the checkbox, as mentioned in the manual, the problem was solved for me.
My specs are as follows...
T-Mobile MDA (USA)
Official T-Mobile 2.26 ROM
Plantronics Discovery 340 BT headset
I have no problems with BT and VC 1.6.... I haven't changed my owner info or my password protection. The headset wakes my phone from standby and is ready to go when i press the button on the headset.

you're a freaking moron. I said what I said in the followup because it's supposed to help you if the program isn't doing what it's supposed to do. I don't know where you've been but this happens in the software industry. The manual says one thing and the software does something else. As a software developer, this i DO know.
Here are MY specs:
MDA
Offical Tmo's 2.26 /w radio 2.47 <-- that might be the culprit
opmap
SE HBH-662
BTW, the manual ALWAYS works (unless you have problems opening up doc files or ur doc file is corrupted). It's the freaking program that doesn't work according to what the manual says.
25 years in the world of IT/software R&D have taught me that often times the developers and the people doing the documentation sometimes don't communicate very well.

USB Utility

I'm not quite sure this is the appropriate place to post, so forgive me if it isn't.
I remember some time ago, when still on my magician, that somebody had made a program so that, when connected to a pc via USB, the phone would be seen as a usb pen drive, directly accessing the sd card. I also remember it was only for WM5.
But I switched to Trinity, so now I'm looking for it through all of the forum: I hate to be the lazy b*stard, but I've been searching for the past hour to no avail: every time I key in usb, half of the threads in the forum show up, obviously...
So anybody remember what it's called?
Thanks for any help or indication
WM5Storage
After install you must goto settings> Comunications> USB to PC and uncheck that setting for WM5Storage to work properly. Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot for the quick answer you guys - you're simply great!

Just give me a error... "failed to disable RNDIS to use Serial"
you might need to shut down any background apps that are running. I had WisBar advance running when I tryed and it would not even bring up the screen. When I shut Wisbar down i was able to change the setting. could be a background app or today plugin that is interfering with it.

I think it's probably AvtiveSync, which is almost always runnig in the background, that is causing the error when you uncheck the USB>PC setting.

I solved this problem by deleting (temporary) my com connection to my bluetooth device (GPS).
DHCP client and RNDIS versus USB connection
As i tweak so much over time on my system, my DHCP client was turned off.
That's why my RNDIS device could not connect.
Through my local PC it needed to connect to the network DHCP server. CE seems to do this through XP's DHCP client services.
Turning these services on created the "advanced network connection" to work.
Big advantage to connect like this instead of turning off the RNDIS module and connect through 'normal' USB, is that my PC will now recodnize and automaticaly change from my private phone to my work phone (WM6.0 and WM6.1)
Network capability of my phone is achieved by having the right ip address in the 'external NDIS module' (networkcards). I had to do this manualy. Don't know why but; hey... Without network, still all Active sync options can be used, like installing or removing software, opening the mobile registry etc.
So: 6.1 can turn off the advanced network capability. My 6.0 with a lot of tools cannot.
But They both work better with my PC if I leave it turned on and turn on the DHCP client of my local PC.!
I hope this helps. It was a lovely solution after 5 hours of reading threads.
WM5torage is good program for that

Is there a utility/software/plugin that does the following...

I am wondering if there are utilities/plugins out there that do the following:
1) Add an option to "Restart" the Tilt. As in, a soft reboot. I know it seems foolish but wouldn't that be a nicer option that turning it off and then turning it on again completely? I know, I know, same thing either way, but still, just wondering.
2) Give you GPS Data. As in, how many satellites are in range, maybe longtitude/lattitude, and other such location info. I have seen some GPS units that actual show a diagram of the satellites above you...that would be cool!
I already have Google Maps and am probably going to get TomTom-6 for my navigation needs, but I thought it would be cool to have a little utility that gives you the current nitty-gritty info about the GPS right there and then.
Download links would be appreciated if the above-mentioned do indeed exist. Any takers?

Yep there shure is, and i bet if you search "htc gps tool", you will find it. use the wiki and search, and read read read.
tons of apps do both, pshutxp, quickmenu for restart,
gps tool, visual gpsce for gps
Well on the AT&T Tilt, if you hold down the power button long enough - it'll ask you if you want to power off the phone - which is a soft reset.

can anyone turn wifi on with hbutton?

I've searched the forums for a small app to turn the wifi on the diamond on. I use hbutton but it doesn't work...i get "wifi not found"
All i'm looking for is an app or the ability to turn wifi on using mortscript, then i can assign it in hbutton.
Surely there's something quite small and rudimentary out there that works?
any help appreciated?
cheers, Cojo
try this wifi_on-off

I use a utility called bt switcher and have one of my soft keys to switch bt on and off. You can also switch bt on and have it discoverable. Works a treat for me.
Oops wrong thread!! Sorry misread your original post!!
Steve
You could try AE Button Plus - I've mapped toggle WiFi on/off to long press on volume up, and bluetooth on/off to long press of volume down.
Not mortscript but does what you need.

SD BT and WiFi Lessons Learned on WM Side

I ported the complete registry entries from HTC Fuze to HTC Shift filling all the missing keys in Shift regarding BT, WiFi, SD and USB. This did not change the functionality of WM at all, i.e. it did not recognize any of those except the USB for ActiveSync, which is normal. No strange behavior. I compared the dlls that are references like SDMemory, btfsd, encfilt etc. They are similar. Now I wonder these things may be hardwired to the main MB instead of the WM side and WM is a daughter to MB something like a modem card. I may be wrong also. I am not giving up. I want to explore if I could use BT, WiFi and SD if vista is turned on. I know we could use SD Card as a network storage using totalcommander or any other tool if vista is turned on, but I want to use it as a local storage instead of network storage. I will keep you posted.

Gospeed to your work !
(Title should read: Godspeed to your work)
If anyone knows the address of one of the senior HTC engineers responsible for designing the HTC Shift,
we could then simply hold the guy hostage until he reveals his secrets.
Or maybe we can offer a bribe first, it would ease logistics of the operation.
Darn, our hybrid needs just a few more tweaks (SD,BT) to make it
reach it's full potential.
If the EC bridge controller is only powered when vista is active... we might
need some X-Box and/or PS hackers to take a look at the big picture.

Solding
I, for one, would be willing to solder a SDHC card straigt onto the WM MB.
If someone could point out the right place and contacts...
I know I might ruin the WM side, but I'm not using it much anyway, and I can acces internet via bluetooth and my phone, so... I'd be willing to risk it...
But hey,.... I'm crazy
HTC Debug tool
Has any one tried the HTC debug tool - BT test module on HTC Shift !!
BT test attached here
good idea, to soldering a SD Card on wm side. but without a hardware engineer how know where you must soldering.. And maybe you must enable that on MS7xxx Processor ?
