I haven't used a SIM in my Vodafone P20 Pro (C432) yet. I've just inserted a Vodafone SIM in it and been presented with the attached update. Having heard of devices permanently branding to a network on first SIM insertion with the Mate 10 Pro I'm concerned that if I allow this system update I will permanently have a Vodafone splash screen and apps. Can anyone confirm if this is the case or if I'm just being paranoid?
I can't even dismiss the update so it looks like I'd have to do a factory reset to even get rid of the notification but I don't want my phone to permanently have a Vodafone splash screen and crapware
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
My HD7 is currently not running as well as it always has. The power button seems to stop working every so oftern (more so after charging) and it also freezes at the lock screen causing me to have to take the battery out to restart it.
I've never changed the rom, only allowed Zune updates from the original O2 UK rom. O2 did provide an unlock code so I could run Orange UK sims.
My question is, if I install the O2 Nodo rom and then allow the updates again in case the fault lies with the current wp version, will I lose the current sim unlock status and end up with the handset reverting to O2 only?
Regards
Ray
The sim lock is hardware radio dependant, not OS...
YES you can go with any rom you like...
Hi,
New P10. Inserted my sim and start it up:
How do I get past the prompt "Change to Vodafone configuration"
"Hi it seems like you are using a Vodafone SIM card. Do you want to change your phone settings to support the new SIM? (Please note that selecting this option will reset your device and erase your current settings and data)"
There is only OK button.
I know if I tap OK this wipes the phone. I dont want the Vodafone settings. I just want to set up my phone myself. Vodafone loads a bunch of rubbish.
But this screen seems to be difficult to bypass. HELP!
With my P8 I set up a bunch of stuff and then inserted my sim and LOST EVERYthing!!! I dont want to repeat this!!! There has to be a way out of this!!!

I tried to bypass this as well when setting up my P10 Lite, but to no avail, unfortunately. I hate that there's no choice in the matter when using a Vodafone sim card. Very annoying!
Good morning.
I'm in Turkey for work, and at the Vodafone point, i think the guy did this operation (reset and change the phone settings) without asking me.
Now my huawei P10 have some vodafone app that i can't remove.
After that, in the phone there was not app like play store, chrome, and also the keyboard, so i've made an hard reset.
Now the phone is working, but it looks like a branded phone.
How can i revert to the stock configuration?
Thank you very much

Unfortunately, whether he asked you or not, there is no way around using the Vodafone configuration when using a Vodafone sim card. It is better to do the Vodafone reset as soon as possible, because as soon as you put a Vodafone sim in, the phone will prompt you to reset, and there is no way that this can be avoided. You will then lose all of your apps and data once you do the reset, you'll need to set the phone up again.
If you cannot remove the Vodafone apps, then you should be able to disable the apps in Settings > Apps > Choose the app you want disabled > Disable.
Hi, thanks for your answer.
I know there's no other possibilities, but there are many other operators, and in the end I did another sim, not vodafone.
But this reset has caused me many problems, I was traveling without a phone, and i lost many things on the phone.
I think he was not professional at all.
Now i want to revert to factory configuration, it is possibile or i have to download and flash the firmware?
Thank you
I understand your frustration completely. I'm not sure there is a way for you to get back to the default configuration again. I think once it is reset to a specific country's configuration, it is done permanently, but I am speaking under correction.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge regarding this can help.
If it's not possible, then the only other alternative would be to rebrand your device, BUT that will require an unlocked bootloader.

Hi , have bough the dual sim tray, but need help to make my Phone dual sim if anyone knows how to alter the system to recognise a second sim ?
Sorry if this has been asked before, am new here
cheers
Two words: Funky Huawei.
Beware.
I have rebranded and then changed over to dual SIM using funky Huawei. I was left with a fully functional dual SIM and broken speaker sound volume. It was stuck at 20% and no matter how many resets I did could not get it fixed.
You also loose bootloader unlock using Funky Huawei. I luckily had my phone replaced under warranty...

The only way is to use the funky Huawei method. You must pay for it. Go to Funkey Huawei site and you have all the info. These is also a thread here in XDA.
I changed my CLT-L09 single-sim in a CLT-L29 dual sim in april-2018.
No problem at all. I have a dual-sim phone and all goes well. Also I have had all the OTA update from Huawei.
The only problem is that you can't root the phone anymore, even if you buy the unlock code from a site. This because Funkey change the bootloader code to enable the dual-sim code, and there is no unlock code that works.
Can anyone tell me if the p30 pro in the UK from three network is branded please?
My sim free handset was completely stock until I inserted my 3Uk card and then it downloaded an update which included some apps and "3" start up and shutdown splash screens
Just got a system update notice for 9.1 on my sim-free P20 Pro (using EE sim). Downloaded and installed and now it boots up with the 3 logo and no sign of 9.1 additions like vlog or assistant on power button press etc.
Checked system updates and it says up to date but EMUI shows as 9.0 and build as 9.0.0.168, Android Version 9, and changelog says 9.1
Anyone got any idea what's happened?
Cheers
Mine is working perfectly excepting one thing: It randomly vibrates when I am using it on silent. No notification pops up, nothing.

Were either of your phones 2nd hand/not completely brand new and unused? As they lock to first sim for network auth'd updates.
Once you got that splash screen as far as im aware its there for good unless you unlock/rebrand maybe

Nope O2 brand new
Brand new SIM free from Affordable Mobiles.
Well, if a 3 sim wasn't the first to go in either handset I'd be getting onto huawei as something has gone wrong when the update has identified your handsets and now they've been branded 3

Never managed to get a reply from Huawei, but today I got a firmware update notice that actually rolled back the firmware, and now it's downloading 9.1
Still had the 3 boot logo, but I can live with that if it actually updates to 9.1!
