Is this a Samsung thing? Links that should redirect me to youtube or reddit, just open in the browser. The only browser that I've tested that work properly are Samsung browser and... wait for it... Microsoft Edge. All other browser just do as I said at the beginning of this post.
Am I stuck with using the samsung browser (which isn't that bad, a actually) or is there some fix?
This doesn't happen here...
Make sure you delete any defaults, restart and try to open a link again.

My apologies if this has been mentioned/answered elsewhere (I did search) but when clicking on a link to YouTube on Facebook, Internet Explorer opens up and then says something like "Can't download file! Windows phone doesnt support this file type."
Is this a bug? Can it be fixed? I've tried installing loads of different YouTube apps to see if it will open the link up in them but it doesn't. This is really annoying!!

the youtube apps dont detect the click through thus doesn't change the link to the m.youtube.com sub-domain, been covered before, no answer to it as yet apart from manually chane the url once it fails?
i tried manually editing the link when it opens in IE but its not a normal YouTube link and all the things ive tried changing it to just give the same error. YouTube links open fine from Twitter and other places, just not the Facebook app which is what annoys me the most. I love my Windows Phone but its missing so many features that would be considered basic by todays standards and Microsoft really need to kick up the pace if they wanna stand a chance of survival!
Have you tried opening it on the Facebook section of the People hub?

I can't remember that it was like this on GB, but anyway now on ICS the browser always seems to remember previous sessions, I find this very annoying....
Browse Browse Browse, close browser....
Open browser, last opened page is shown, and press back and there are the previous pages again...
How can I make that the web browser forget everything from before and just starts with the homepage??
Tried to find options in the settings, but can't find it...

I know there is a manual way of clearing cache and history, but even that doesn't make the browser forget the previous session...

The simple solution is to install Dolphin HD Browser from Google Play and set it as the default browser. There are loads of cool plug-ins for Dolphin won Play too. Like the Evernote plug-in that lets you post directly from Dolphin.

The android browser does not keep me logged in. Whenever i close the browser, it logs off sites I was logged into and so very annoying. I have had this problem since I did the software update throught the settings. The Firefox or other browsers don't give this problem. But i find the android browser simpler and better to use. How do I fix it? I obviously tried clearing cache and passwords and all the options in there.
I'm using a galaxy tab 8.9''.
Before you created a new thread, did you read around?
if you did, you will realise everyone is talking about original galaxy tab P1000 and its variant.
your device has its own forum.

Eh, I have uninstalled (or hidden, don't really know) quite some apps using this method:
Forumpost on XDA about unbloating without root
(XDA) Uninstall bloat without root
However, I encounter a small issue now. I also uninstalled this Browser from Vivo. Mainly because of the overkill of chinese in it, as well as that I (obviously) didn't use it, and I couldn't really avoid it. (switching the default browser to Chrome seemed to work, but whenever you leave that setting-screen and come back to it, this Vivo Browser is back in place. Uninstalling using the above helped, but now I encounter another issue. This Browser also was malfunctioning with certain radiobuttons on websites, which also made me not use it for login on certain public wifi's where I am regularly. However, without the Browser, I can't seem to let Chrome open in order to guide me to the Wifi login screen at all. Sometimes, on some wifi's, the redirect works (so I just open google.com in Chrome, and I get redirected to the login page straight away), but on some wifi's that is not happening. When in the Wifi-setting-screen I tap on "Tap here to authenticate", nothing happens....Anyone an idea?

You should be able to do the same with the browser as you did with the launcher, set the browser as default.

True, I found the setting. However, whenever I leave that settings window (after setting the default browser to Chrome), and come back to it later, I see that it has swapped back to the Vivo browser. And for stuff like publicwifilogin I still got this vivo browser (and that caused some issues since it has issues with certain radiobuttons)...
Hi, not sure if I've debloated something that Chrome needs but browsing is fine, but when I try share a webpage Chrome crashes everytime any site if I try share... any ideas? thanks
If I install a different browser the share option works fine, but not in Chrome, seems there is some dependency app or something that chrome needs to link with the sharing function...? dunno. Unless there is just a bug in Chrome?
Needs Huawei Share...
Thanks yes it was the 2 Huawei share apps.

Have you tried Samsung internet browser? I have to say it's stellar, dark mode throughout, ad blocking, rapid with no overheads.
Truly the best browser I've ever used on Android
No bookmarks sync so that's the downside.
Chrome can still be used but the comparison is night and day.
The data harvesting that Chrome takes is truly horrific. They want everything.
Google have gone too far.
Ps: in regards to sharing, if you're using an ad blocker then that can cause havoc.
Turn it off and retry.
Or go incognito and retry. Incognito will mimic a perfectly blame browser.
Was my own fault, had deleted the Huawei share all which is needed to share, so reinstalled using adb and all sorted out, thanks.
