Has anyone tried connecting a Gear S2/S3 to their Mi Mix? I got it to connect to my 3g Gear S2 just fine and gave all the apps all the permissions they needed (and then some) but the Samsung Pay app won't show up in the gear app for install and nothing, and I mean nothing, will show up in the galaxy app store. I've tried 2 factory reboots and rebooting my phone and still nothing. To me, the Gear S2 is worthless without a working galaxy app store. Anyone else have this problem or have a possible solution? My Huawei watch works perfectly as does my Pebble Time Steel so the Gear S2 seems to be the only one with an issue.
Please help! Thanks.
If I remember the Samsung store app won't run on non Samsung devices, could be wrong though. I dropped Samsung watches awhile back after the proprietary behavior they showed with the early Fit's ... went to a Moto 360 and haven't looked back.

Well I would agree except my Gear S2 works perfectly on my old Nexus 6P and Honor 8. So I'm thinking there is something that is blocking its use. I have noticed that the China rom blocks a few things (google opinion rewards for example). I've tried the latest global official rom too and it is even worse. I can't even connect the watch to the phone before the gear app just crashes. I guess it just won't work on MIUI. No big deal really as my Huawei watch is sufficient and nicer in my opinion.
I have the same error with my Samsung Pay Gear S2 app. Whenever I try to open it, it returns the error that Samsung Pay cannot be accessed by rooted devices for security reasons. Unroot your device to use Samsung Pay. I have downloaded the SuperUs app to try to unroot it and it says that no root detected on my phone. My Samsung Pay app used to work just fine until they upgraded it. Now it doesn't work anymore.
Does Samsung Pay work on non Samsung devices?
You Can use an Apple Watch Series 3 (probably a Series 2 and earlier models as well) standalone with a Note 8 (S8/S8+ and maybe any Android Device?)!
[ Thanks to @spinedoc on Android Central for this idea!]
**Please, no flaming! I live in both Android and Apple World (as many do). Been loving Android off and on for years. Bored with iOS/iPhone for a couple years now. I do have a Gear S2 (and I wear that too, total geek, I know...) but I have yet to find a decent <= 40mm Android Capable SmartWatch. They are just too large on my wrist and Apple Watch 38mm is perfect so I bought a new Series 3. Apple Watch is behind in tech to me compared to some Android Watches but AW is very slick and really nice looking to me. Some people cannot afford both an Android Wear watch and an Apple Watch even though I believe Android Wear works on iPhone. I kept my iPhone to work on theming as it was jailbroken but isn't any longer due to upgrading to iOS 11. Also I help a lot of friends and family with their iPhone setups and problems so it's good for me to have an iPhone on hand as I follow along when helping them.
Of course not all of the features of the Apple Watch will work but many will! I haven't tried out all of them yet. Phone calls won't work.
You MUST Own an iPhone [for Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) or earlier models of Apple Watch, you need an iPhone 5s or later with probably the latest iOS] in addition to your Android device and have Hotspot functionality on your cellular plan.
Here are the steps that I used (it is NOT necessary to initially have a SIM in your iPhone when setting up. I am using a Series 3 GPS Only Apple Watch with an older iPhone 6+ on iOS 11).
1) Turn on the Hotspot on your Android device (I'm using a Note 8).
2) Connect your iPhone’s wifi to the Android phone's Hotspot.
3) Your Apple Watch will access the internet using the wifi hotspot connection on your iPhone.
4) Now that you have “established” an authorized/known (can’t think of the word Apple uses) wifi connection you can leave the iPhone at home and either leave the hotspot running or turn it on when you need updates to certain apps on your watch!
5) Go into messages on your iPhone (especially when the SIM is NOT in it) and be sure you have an email address that is checked off to use with iMessage. I used iMessage seamlessly - with voice text entry…too small to type (of course there is no trail of the SMSs on your Android phone).
My weather updates, my mail comes in and I can respond. Haven’t tried anything else except Siri who told me the time but couldn’t answer a couple of questions about Apple Watch (just referred me to open the web on the iPhone). Remember that the functionality available on an Apple Watch is dependent upon what exists on your iPhone, not what's on your Android device.
Surprisingly, I didn't get much of a hit on the battery either in my Note 8 or on the Apple Watch when I left the Hotspot on. Not sure how much data was used but I get a 10GB/month hotspot on my AT&T plan so doubt I'll eat that up before the next bill comes out.
If you have an LTE version Apple Watch on AT&T then using NumberSync might not be that good of an idea. Check out this article on Android Central:

FYI this worked for me with a series 2, than means no cellular connection, I'll bet it works better with a series 3. Battery draw was higher on both the AW and the Note 8 (hotspot continuously on), but I still made it through a full day. Most of my stuff is on Google Voice, so all that worked perfectly and I got notifications on the AW and was able to respond. All the apps I tried which involved the phone seemed to work fine, for example the Ecobee app on the AW worked fine to adjust my Tstat at home. Apple pay worked perfectly as well. Siri didn't work when I tested, it said couldn't find my iPhone. iMessages can be tricky as mentioned above. The only thing that truly didn't work at all was making and receiving phone calls.

Thanks again @spinedoc for your initial information on that NumberSync article on Android Central. I posted this guide on the ATT forum and someone stated that even trying this was a hot mess! No way! Once you set it up that's it. It works really well with the series 3. You used ecobee, it works with liftmaster too.
I love the watch but I love my Note 8! So I do want to live in Both worlds.
If Android Wear comes out with a smaller watch I'll end up buying that too. Lol!

Say u turn your hotspot on , tether the iPhone to note 8 , leave the house but your iPhone loses connection to your note 8 because your out of range so it hooks onto your home router. Now you won’t get messages?? Think that’s the problem I had. It Did work when I left the iPhone in the vehicle, lost tethering so iPhone went to cellular data. Can anyone confirm?

I had my iPhone (no SIM in it) tethered to my Note 8 hotspot. At the same time the Apple Watch is automatically connected to the iPhone (which is still using the hotspot for internet connectivity).
Once the Apple Watch was connected it "established " a know WiFi connection so you can actually shut the iPhone down and the Apple Watch will connect to your Note 8 (or any previously connected hotspot which your iPhone was connected to).
So when I leave my house and my Apple Watch is out of range even with my home WiFi (you'll know when your watch has no connection as it will display a tiny red phone or something like that, at the top of the screen) I turn on my Hotspot right in the notification shade (which also turns off your N8 normal WiFi connection) and the Apple Watch connects automatically. That "not connected" icon disappears.
Now you will not receive any cell-related content. You'll get text messages Only from those using iMessage (but you can respond on your AW, I use voice dictation, so easy) your Note 8 texts will not appear on AW. You'll get email updates (if the email accounts existed on your iPhone), you'll get weather updates and can use wifi-connected light bulbs and garage doors etc. if they were all originally set up on your iPhone and if there is a corresponding AW app. Still lots of functionality!
I'm such a geeky goober that I have an Apple Watch on one wrist and a Gear S2 LTE on the other! Like jewelry to me.

I forgot to mention that this is the GPS Only Apple Watch.
Also, @vincey, are you trying to just tether your iPhone to your N8 hotspot (& not use an AW at all)?

Series 1
I tried it with my Series 1 Apple watch and I am not receiving messages.
Thanks for the great info everyone,
Have anyone had the chance to check the method with the series 4 ?
In terms of battery, will the watch last for a day using the hotspot ? Have anyone tried checking WhatsApp notifications ?
my son wants apple watch he does not have phone yet. he does have ipad. if i find an old beater iphone5 to set up the apple watch, he could do similar as you with note?
the apple watch would record exercise, would that sync back to apple health on wifi? i don’t see apple health app for ipad though.
could he use ipad to copy music to apple watch?
can he install games from ipad to watch?
plan b is fitbit versa
Is this still working? How long does your Apple Watch Series 3 last before it needs to be charged again when doing this?
I'm assuming WhatsApp messages sent to the iPhone will be received on the watch?

An Apple Watch can only be directly paired with an iPhone, not an iPad, and if it has watchOS 4 or later, then it can't be paired to an iPhone 5 or 5C, because they won't run anything newer than iOS 10, but as long as the watch has watchOS 3 or earlier, you can still pair it to a 5 or 5C. Otherwise, just get a 5S. If it's a cellular iPad and there's a SIM card in it, then he can do what the OP did with his Note 8, but he won't be able to sync or install anything on the watch using the iPad. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure a Fitbit can be paired to any phone, tablet or computer
Need help. Recently updated to MIUI Global 11.0.1 and now 2 problems with my Samsung Gear Sport.
It keeps losing the Bluetooth connection and no notifications are coming through.
I set no restrictions for battery saver for:
- Galaxy Wearable
- Gear S plugin
- Samsung Accessory Service
And permanent notifications allowed. Cleared cache.. Don't know what else to do.
Can Wear OS run on the X Fold?
I have TAG connected watch and I read that it does not work with Chinese ROM
I have the TicWatch 3 PRO Ultra and although it was a pain in the ... to make it work, Managed it with both the Chinese and Play versions of the Wear OS app installed together. it is fiddly but eventually, it works. Also, I get all the notifications on the watch (even the ones that will not show up on the phone...

Tutorial unfortunately no as I did not follow any... First tried installing Wear OS from the Play store but it was not finishing the setup. Then I downloaded Wear OS from the Vivo store (the so-called Chinese version. This one does not have any Google Account integration) I gave all possible permissions to both of them (yes, they can be installed at the same time.) Then somehow the Play Store version worked and connected to the watch. I installed also the TicWatch App that is needed (in my case. Guess TAG has one too) and after some more fiddling with notification permissions, it just worked. I get all my notifications and everything seems to sync properly.
I hope that they will really release the phone in India next month, as usually, the Indian releases are Global ROMs with more compatibility with everything. Then we should be able to flash it on our devices...
I have my Galaxy Watch connected.
First loaded the Chinese Wear app, then the Galaxy Wear app.
BUT it won't stay connected. It's OK while the phone is open, but as soon as the phone logs off the Bluetooth disconnects.
I've given the Wear apps every possible permission and power settings but it just won't stay connected.
Just to update from my last post, I've decided to trade in my Galaxy Watch 3 for the new Watch 5. Will be interested to see if that makes any difference. Probably not
I have the same issue - cannot keep my galaxy watch connected (it's the 1st gen)
All is fine and after a while it just disconnects.
The galaxy Buds Live are fine and keep connected.
I'm using the Galaxy wearable app. (as these devices are not Wear OS i think)

No success with the Watch 5, as I reported in a separate thread. I'll wait for the Pixel Watch.
Got my Galaxy watch (1st gen i guess) successfully paired and it keeps connected. As long as the 2 devices are bound. (once disconnected i have to reconnect via the wear app - no big deal)
Thing is though - battery usage of the watch is through the roof. I hardly get a full day out of it.
Anyone know what might be causing this?

First gen Galaxy Watches did not have a very good battery life to begin with... 1.5 to 2 days at most with good use. Another thing is that the connection between the watch and the phone is not stable for some reason (probably due to the stupid Vivo battery optimizations or some Bluetooth issue)... For instance, my Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra GPS (names those things) lasted about 3 days with my old Galaxy S21 Ultra but now I struggle to get 2 with the Vivo X Fold...
Which Watch work with X Fold ? It seems no one actually. i have 2/3 Xiaomi, nothing work and it's not Band !!
Samsung Watch 3 works. Samsung Watch 5 does not work.
I now have Huawei GT3 pro and it works perfectly. Does not use Wear. Great battery life, eight days so far !
I agree nt so bad... nothing better than others... But qualitative.
Everything work ?

I have a Vivo X Note and also a TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra. Wear OS works well together with the Chinese version. The only and for me the biggest problem is that I cannot pay with a card via Google wallet from watch. When I open the apk and want to add a payment card, it says a connection error with my mobile phone, and on my X Note Wallet does not open through google play services, and I cannot add the card to the watch. I have no problem with paying on my mobile, Wallet works ok there. If I connect the watch to the Lenovo Yoga Tab tablet, Wear OS from the Google Play Store works there without any problems, and I also add all the cards to the Wallet in the watch. I read on the forums that the problem is with the new versions of the Google Play services and that it will help to downgrade the older version lower than 21.26.58. The problem is that when installing, the system gives an error and cannot be installed... So at the moment I have a working watch, but no payment, which is frustrating. Have you tried paying with your watch?

I will never work, as Android Auto, Google backup, Google Timeline and Ok Google activation.
Vivo doesn't use a full Google Play Service framework as they have Jovi application instead of Google one.
Hello
Does anyone manage to make the Remote Connection work? It's missing in the Galaxy Wear settings.
I'm guessing it's related to the Wear OS China version app.
Just got my new Galaxy Watch 5. It looks great, very smooth appearance
Installed it in the usual way after removing all the old apps and starting from scratch including Watch 5 patch.
Good news - Galaxy Wear found the watch straight away and did the bluetooth pairing.
Bad news - Galaxy Wear immediately said "This watch is not supported on this phone."
I'll be having an other go later on, but it's looking like the watch will be going back.
If you have an older copy of Wearables try that after uninstalling the new version. Make sure you get all the apps for the watch.
Firewall block the old version's updates though before opening it... or it will update.
Conversely try updating everything including the watch firmware. Sequence* of your actions here can effect the outcome. Wearables can be quit the terror but I've always gotten my Buds+ to work right, one way or another
Samsung tech may be useful as may Samsung forums. It sucks but so does a lot of things; bennies for success, nothing for failure.
*trial and error, and yes it can take multiple attempts. DO NOT factory reset!
Clearing the system cache and especially a network reset may help. Make sure Wearables has all its permissions, CHECK!!! It will puke on you if it doesn't! No warnings why either
I've been back again, tried everything I learned in getting the Watch 3 to work. But this one is different, it's not like the failures before when something just doesn't work or goes into a loop. This is the first time Galaxy Wear has connected to the Watch and then said definitely that it is not comparible with the phone. I'm having bad feelings about it.
The other thing I would say though is, are Samsung going to sell the Watch 5 into China? If so it should work with Chinese phones - unless it has different firmware.
Watch 5 returned. Waiting for Pixel Watch.

Another horrible news about Vivo Security and policies.
Anyone had the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 to work with the Wear OS version from Vivo app store?
yes i have the watch 5 pro working i have had vio x fold, vivo x fold plus and now vivo x fold 2 and it worked on all
what you have to do is uninstall all the versions you have of samsung wearables and plugins then go to this link and install this version of wearables http://samsung-gear.apk.watch/2.2.41.21071361/for/huawei-honor-8
once that is installed open up the settings of ur phone go to bluetooth and connect to your watch then open up the wearables app and it will download an update follow it through and it will work perfect for you
just remember to set the wearable and watch os apps to be locked in the task killer screen and set the battery management to high power for the wearable and watch os apps to make sure you get all your notifications and for it to stay connected

I have both watch 4 and watch 5 connecting to vivo without any issues. Do not use the Samsung wearable app from the play store but use the above apk. Once the phone is synced, all the Samsung plugins gets updated to the latest version.
