I recently bought the XZ1c and have been downloading the System Updates. Every time I install one, I get a notification that a new update is available. I've noticed that the most recent ones start with 41.3.x.x.xxx; mine starts with 41.1.x.x.xxx. It seems like I have to download every update in-between before I get to the current one. Is there a way I can jump right to the newest?
I found a site called http://www.xperiablog.net that lists all the System Updates. They have a couple links to the newest updates, but they're for International models, like Brazil or Middle East.
Thanks,
-Adam

Cool, I'll check 'em out. The last update I installed was 47.2.A.0.306; it also installed Pie 9.0 during that update. I no longer get a notification that there's a new update available, but I noticed on some site that the latest software update, which was released last month (October) is 42.3.x.x.xxx. Is this true? Thanks.

I installed MOB30I last week. There seem to be 2 new versions available. But they are not available via OTA. Are updates even available on these versions?
"they are not available via OTA"...?
Maybe I'm misunderstanding - do you mean the actual delivery over the air or these images which have been out for several days?
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota
6.0.1 (MMB30J) & 6.0.1 (MOB30M).

Just flash the zip files available here, these are full OTAs (NOT factory images), hence the size
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/ota#shamu
I was on the same build you are and sideloaded MOB30M OTA, everything went well. I'm assuming you are stock just like me.
Have fun sideloading, OR just wait for the OTA to arrive directly to your phone, which may take a few days.
I wanted to know if the ota will be available directly through system update as quite often i dont have access to a computer. I guess ill have to wait till it arrives. Thank you for your help.
eventually, yes
I originally flashed from US to CE1 .374 w/ us oem fix. Not sure why I didn't use the custom UK that everyone else was using, but now I'm lagging behind in the updates. Can I use newflasher to switch between versions or is that just asking for trouble? I thought i saw somewhere about flashing and not losing user data, but that probably is for staying in the same verison?
also, after doing the us oem fix, can you update through ota? or do you have to reflash everytime?

You can flash new firmware without loosing your data. Use Xperiafirm to download the firmware of your choice. If you are looking for UK firmwares to flash, I would go with '1310-6856 Customized UK' as this is unbranded and you won't get any carrier bloatware in it.
Unpack newflasher into the same folder as the firmware. If you don't want to loose your data remove userdata_XFLASH.sin. Then start newfalsher.
I don't think OTA updates will work as you're in the worng region, but I'd be happy if someone corrected me on that.
I would hold off flashing until the new 47.1.A.5.51 is available for UK Customized, it should be any day now.
yip im on UK Customized, and its taking ages for the rollout to happen, but I think i will just wait as I found that when I changed regions before . The region that I switched to got rolled out at a different time the next rollout out.
I guess sony change the regions for very release.
OTA will work for you i.e you will get the UK Customized OTA if your in the states.

I called Sony and asked them this question. "If I buy a UK phone from England and use it in the US, will updates take away the fingerprint sensor?" This was the answer, "No. If you install Sony Xperia Companion to your computer and do your updates that way, it will always update to UK version specs."
Hi, i would like to do a flash from UK/HK rom to CE1. Is there risky regarding TA or anything else ? Could i loose my camera and fingerprint usage ?
Thx

After using newflasher to update to customized DE 47.1.A.7.1 saving my userdata with no problems, i decided to update to the newest 47.1.A.8.49 using the same method, and am having a few problems. first, when i startup, memory app and software update both have errors and stop. then settings have weird characters instead of %s.
I tried flashing back to .7.1 but went into a bootloop.
I flashed back to .8.49 and it works, but still has those problems that initally made me try flashing back to .7.1
Any ideas?
thanks
wonder if i'm doing something wrong when trying to preserve user data.. i'm trying to go from CustomUK (my phone is on 47.1.A.2.374) to Custom CE1 (which is on A.8.49). i downloaded the firmware files via XperiFirm, and removed the user data.sin file. I also replaced the OEM.sin file with the US version, then used newflasher. but my phone gets stuck in a boot loop, and i have to resort to wiping user data.

I did the same, flashed the DE 47.1.A.7.1, it worked perfectly. Then last night I got an OTA update via 'sony update' on my phone. I let it do it's thing and it's been working fine ever since. Perhaps go back to 7..1 and let Sony update it?

Pretty sure it would have worked if you had just removed the userdata.sin. I moved from different firmware & region using this method and it worked fine. I don't know what OEM.sin does, but mixing them up from different regions is probably the issue.
The attached screen shot shows some of the text errors in my update. Anyway to fix this kind of stuff?
Thx
this explains why i couldn't flash back to .7.1.
I'm on Customized UK .2.374 with the US OEM file. It's a US model on Cricket Wireless. So far I haven't been notified of any OTAs, even after checking in settings several times over the last few days, but Xperifirm shows .5.51 as being available for Customized UK. Based on the replies in this thread, it sounds like I'm supposed to get the UK OTA, but it hasn't shown up yet.
Has anyone in the US on the UK firmware with US OEM file actually seen an OTA yet? Ideally I'd like to keep getting OTAs and avoid flashing every update...
(This would be so much less painful if Sony had just enabled the fingerprint scanner in the US...)
Have you tried with the Xperia Companion on a PC?

I was in the same boat. I was on the CustomUK firmware with US OEM file, and after I saw Xperifirm update to .5.51, i never saw it update via OTA on my phone. Ended up flashing to the Customized CE1 version since that is up to date on .8.49

Thanks. Do you think it's because we're not on a UK carrier or because of the hybrid firmware from flashing the US OEM file?
Anyone else on the same setup...please let us know if you're also not getting OTAs.

The OTA's are checked based on a combination of the parameters found in the OEM partition and the system partition.
Specifically these found in the /oem/system-properties/cust.prop file:
ro.semc.version.cust=1310-4371
ro.semc.version.cust_revision=R8B
And these in the /system/etc/prop.default file:
ro.semc.version.sw=1307-7511
ro.semc.version.sw_revision=47.1.A.2.324
It builds a web query from the parameters like this:
http://fuas.sonymobile.com/fuas/services/updates?cdfId=CUST&cdfVer=CUST_REVISION&channel=cable&clientName=Xperia%20Companion%20Win&clientVersion=1.7.2.0&devId=IMEI&lang=en-US&model=G8441&securityState=HWC_Yoshino_Com_001&swId=SW&swVer=SW_REVISION&tac_mc=NO_IDEA&updateFormat=image
You can see the complete URL for your phone in the Xperia Companion logs.
Just look for a line starting with: http://fuas.sonymobile.com
So although you have an older SW_REVISION, if it's newer than the firmware available for CUST then a firmware update isn't offered.
What this means is that Sony is providing OTA's that are essentially based on your OEM region and the US region only has version 47.1.A.2.324 available.
So if you have newer firmware than that, you aren't offered the update.
This also means that if you are offered an update, it will be the US version of the OTA which may cause problems when it tries to patch binaries from a different region's partition.
I haven't been able to get my hands on any OTA files yet, so I don't know what's in them or probability of an OTA breaking a phone with mixed region firmware bits.
Why am I not getting it? I checked for system updates and it says I am already up to date, but everyone is saying Oreo is out now.
I have crc5. So, somehow I have an even newer version. I would guess we need to go back to the last Verizon Android v7 to have the OTA work.
Good to know. Guess I need to find a firmware download for it and flash it manually with odin

Hello I have a P9 EVA-L09C636B134. I live in the US.
EMUI 4.1
Android 6.0
Phone works ok, it feels slow at times. A reboot usually fixes it for a day.
I have my FIRST EVER UPDATE from the updater (B168). Should I do it? It says there are 2 patches: first one is entirely in chinese, the second one says a few things like add watermarks, fix UI issue, optimize startup, etc.
Yes. Why are you still on marshmallow? Nougat has been available since last year.

I read that the update made their phones use more battery or something. Also I don't know how to manually update, I assumed it would hit this updater thing but I never got an update off the updater. No risk to update you think? I should just do it?

OTA = Over the Air. Official update delivered by Huawei. Go to Settings > System Update and check for updates.
FirmwareFinder = App to show/browse/download available and future firmware updates on Huaweis servers. Only necessary for those who flash updates manually.
In your case go to System Update. There should be an update. Maybe you have to do this a couple of times to reach latest Nougat-Version. Good luck!

Thank you. Perhaps I did something wrong.
1) set proxy to "localhost" and port "8080"
2) my model number was there, clicked it
3) went back to check settings: settings are (show packages for current region OFF, in app proxy port 8080, use simple OFF, show only fullOTA ON)
4) clicked first package (full OTA - MF)
5) clicked in app proxy
6) go to "updater" in settings
7) updater has package, click download and install
8) error "package checksum error." (immediately, before 1% downloaded).
Is it possible I need to not update the most recent one? I am still on android 6.0, EMUI 4.1 and like I said never had any other update OTA before (never used firmware finder). Thank you!
edit: restarted the phone, the package is now gone. Maybe I should do a different package, maybe an older one, not the most recent one?

Ok thanks, I am trying the oldest build B361 from B168. The download started.
There are 19 total packages, 14 before the first VD package. Holy **** this is going to take forever!
Thank you very much for your help.
Can you explain why these dont come automatically, why I need to do this manual process? Is it because I am in the US?
Also why do I need this proxy port thing?

There is no option for B193. all of the packages are in the 300's.
The download finished (I think) but it could not install. It said I needed to free up some space. I uninstalled some apps and now it will not let me view the progress (I clicked new custom version, it just takes me back to my setting page). in my notification screen, it as EMU download percetnage at -930% and it is not moving. I tried restarting a few times it all stays the same. Current version still says B168.
edit: I clicked menu and then "download latest full package" and it seemed to have reset everything. Should I try this package again? To repeat, this is the oldest package on firmware finder, B361. I also noticed there are duplicates in firmware finder... and some of the packages are for L09,L19 and L29, these are all safe to download? Should I keep doing oldest 1 by 1?
Thanks again for your help, sorry I am so noob.

I bought this phone today.. is iy possibly the reason to nog getting may update at all. I updated for the first time today
No, some regions never got the may update which has actually been fortunate. The may update has been withdrawn due to issues.
I'm in Australia and it didn't get released. https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2019/05/relax-samsungs-big-s10-bug-wont-affect-aussies/
I've already updated to ASE6 firmware.. Using samfirm download the OXM ASE6 firmware from any region which have this and extract the zip files.. Put the respective files using odin and use the home_csc to flash to phone.. You won't loose any data or files in your phone and will have the latest firmware...
Just wait like most everyone else does. It doesn't go out to everyone at the same time. It's not always best to be first.
It's quite sad but I know singapore is very slow at receiving samsung firmware updates...
