Global ROM with locked Bootloader on Chinese Varient k20 pro

Hi Android Enthusiastic's
I was totally impressed by Redmi k20 pro specs and price and I had brought it from China next day it was released in Chinese market, I had to deal with slot of Chinese bloatware and I was finally waiting for official global ROM to released and I unlocked bootloader and flashed global ROM and when I try to relock the bootloader it gets stuck in recovery mode
And works fine with unlocked bootloader
And later I came to know that Xiaomi had actually did this on purpose that no should do like this
I ask all you is there any workaround for this that I can have official global rom and locked Bootloader
Because unlocked bootloader can lead to hacking and loss of sensitive information and potential for virus attack
Since you have the chinese variant if the phone locking it's bootloader will limit the phone to ONLY being able to boot the Chinese ROM or one of these fake global ShopROMs which nobody should use (in my opinion).
I don't think it possible to flash the official global ROM and lock the bootloader. Maybe some day the Pro's will be able to convert a Redmi K20pro to a Mi 9T Pro with baseband and bootlock support but at the time of writing this is not possible.
Until then you have to choose between Chinese ROM with locked bootloader or any other ROM with unlocked one. I use Xiaomi.eu ROM with unlocked Bootloader and deem the data encryption safe enough.
A thief could boot TWRP, format data and have my phone but that is a risk I can take. In that case I might even still be able to lock the phone with my mi account if the thief used MIUI

Recovering from botched MIUI 11 OTA on fake Global ROM Mi 9T Pro?

I ordered a "Global ROM Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro 12GB 512GB Exclusive Edition Smartphone Snapdragon 855 plus 4000mAh 48MP Triple Cameras 6.39'' on AliExpress (yes I know now it was mistake to get "Global ROM"...). Everything actually looked really good, Google Play store worked, device model showed up as "Mi 9T Pro", only thing I needed to do was lock bootloader for banking apps etc and everything has been working great.
At some point I was offered OTA update to MIUI 11, and I decided to install it last night. The install went until 65% and then the screen went black and the phone rebooted into the dreaded "The system has been destroyed" error. Now since my bootloader is locked I don't know how to recover from this - Mi Unlock Tool and fastboot both won't unlock, Mi tool wants me to add my account in developer options which of course isn't possible. I tried the "fastboot continue" method too with no effect. All I want is stock MIUI with locked bootloader and working OTA updates.
fastboot vars:
product: raphael
secure:yes
anti:1
board_version:4.9.2
hw-revision:20002
unlocked:no
Is EDL mode the only way to recover from this?
So you locked your bootloader and installed the OTA?
Unfortunately yes, bootloader was locked when OTA was installed.

Flash correct regional ROM through QPST/QFIL
You'll get a locked bootloader with OTA updates
Thanks for the response. It looks like QPST/QFIL only work if the device is already in EDL mode. Is there a way to boot to EDL without special cable / using motherboard test points? I tried fastboot oem edl and got "FAILED (remote: 'Oem edl command is not allowed Lock State')".
Following this Thread. Let me know If you get any Answer please mine stuck too and cant do aything and dont want to open my brand new device.

It doesn't work with Raphael.
So an update for those wondering. To fix this I had to use EDL mode and flash the original China ROM. It seems EDL cables do not work on this phone, so I had to open it up and use the test point method to boot into EDL mode. Even in EDL mode and using QFIL, there is still an authentication process on the phone itself, which requires an authorized Xiaomi account in order to load firmware. Obviously my own account does not have that authorization, so I paid $30 to one of those shady looking "unbrick" services. They remoted into my PC with UltraViewer (TeamViewer ripoff) and logged into their account and the flash succeeded.
Lesson learned... never lock the bootloader on this phone!

Yes. According to Xiaomi, it is recommended to unlock the BOOTLOADER but if you don't want to, the device will not be damaged:
Steps:
Put the device in FastBoot mode
Install XiaoMi Tool on your PC and configure it ( https://www.xiaomitool.com/V2/latest )
Choose option "Device locked. I want to unlock it"
You choose which device is yours
And let the app guide you

Question Call recording missing from settings

Hi,
Two day ago I still had MIUI Global Stable 12.5.18.0 (RKLEUXM) and upgraded to MIUI Global STABLE 13.0.7.0 (SKLEUXM). I though upgrading will fix that problem but it hasnt.
When searching through setting I cant find "call recording" feature. I do not even have a stock contacts & dialer app. Is there a way of fixing this with or without root?
Is flashing global OTA from indonesia or India going to fix this? How should I proceed? Cant find any information on the web on the subject. please help.
