Nokia 7 plus Wifi problem after November update - Nokia 7 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi, is anyone having an issue with the wifi after the November patch update?
My wifi is not picking up my home router's signal and the speed its giving me is just 350 kbps instead of the original 95 Mbps. The connection is good on other devices and so I am pretty sure this has got to do something with the update. If you find a solution help me!
Thanks.

I have the same issues,it connects only if i restart the phone but once i turn off WiFi is not connecting anymore, can we roll back to October update? I doubt nokia will fix this issues any time soon

I've done the following step and its working back to normality so far.
Try soft resetting the phone. ( Volume Up+ Power button for more than 10 secs)
Clear the Carrier services and settings cache before proceeding with the soft reset.

Hello i have the same Wifi problem here after november update...Very hard to connect to Wifi, only a restart solves the problem for a few hours...

Not the actual "wifi settings"... Just clear the storage and cache of "Carrier Services" and "Settings". Then do the soft reset. Its fine so far.

Same problem here, I hope that Nokia will solve this as soon as possible, a lot of problems with the device with every update... So sad [emoji17]

Sure nokia will solve the issue maybe next time when they release the December security patch which will be in January sometime till then no WiFi, really sad,i wish they be more responsive to customers and at least someone should test those patches before it reaches out to US:cyclops:

**** nokia, no bootloader unloc, no faultless update...
Switching to oneplus.,.

I've logged the issue with Nokia Support via the Support app. They claim to be aware of the issue and claim their developers are working on a fix. I suggest everyone reports the issue to Nokia/HMD.

After two attempts not working for me... After reboot works good but it appears again... Let's wait for the patch..

Lag When I Unlock The Phone

Hello after i updated my phone to oreo it lags sometimes. I assume that it is kind of a Glance problem cause when i turn off glance there is no lag at all(pretty strange i know). I contacted support about this 2 times and they said restart the phone and clear the chace of the app that causes the issue. Neither of them work. Does anyone else facing this issue?

The only lag I have is with the fingerprint senzor. If I doubletap the screen and then I press the fingerprint, it unlocks instantly. If I press the fingerprint with the screen off, it takes a while before the screens turns on (~1.5sec). Maybe this is how it is on the Nokia 8, but on the HTC 10 was lightning fast.
I will reset the phone if the problem presist s i will send the phone to service

Had a 10 as well as don't really notice that much difference. What I will say is that battery performance trounces the 10 so I'd imagine it's pulling the Nokia from deep sleep that causes the minor lag.
always restart wherever it lags. it lags with the amount of oreo update.
Did you tryed a factory reset? I did it and it is more responsive then before. But safe needed data first. Backup before factory reset!

I think it is so the phone isnt getting false attempts to unlock it, only my opinion though, i am not saying that is deffo the reason.
I just have the same problems with my Nokia 8 since 2 days.
Fingerprint or power-button unlock is sometimes painfully slow. Maybe up to 5 seconds.
I have the Android 8.1 Oreo update installed since some months already and also the newest security patch.
I have read, it's a general problem of the 8.1 version, that unlocking gets slowed down.
Anyone has a solution so far? Factory reset doesn't seem to help always (I didnt try), but maybe downgrading to Android 8?

No, this didn't work for me at all.
I think it's related to deep sleep / doze feature. Try to restore factory settings and wipe clean data + cache of the phone and see if it will help. There's so many things that can cause this that we're not able to help any of you.

Thanks, I know, but that also didn't help me. Currently I am following this bug report at Google:
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/109710373
It seems to be an issue witht he June Android Security Patch... a lot of Pixels are having the same problem.
I don't thinks it's the June 2018 update problem. If u look at the dates on this thread, the problem started after the oreo 8.0 update back in November 2017. Hopefully it'll be fixed in the android 9 update coming soon. I updated straight to 8.1 after unboxing so I don't know if this problem was around during nougat

Phone suddenly looses WiFi connection, only restart helps

It started two days ago. Phone works well for some time, then suddenly it looses WiFi connection. WiFi is still enabled but icon in status bar disappears and apps cannot download content from internet.
I would normally try to restart WiFi in such situation, but I can't do it. Clicking on button in notification bar does nothing, neither going to "settings -> wifi" and clicking on toggle switch.
What helps is restarting entire OS, but after a few hours it happens again. It happend 4-5 times during those 2 days. I originally posted such thread on reddit and some people started to say they have such issues too (and they also started 2 days ago) so it looks like some faulty software update.
Is it known issue? And if it isn't: where should I report it?
>> so it looks like some faulty software update.
What is exact your stock ROM, like EVA-L09 c432 b3xx or something
There are no other updates than when you receive OTA upgrade (in which case you get complete new build number) - assuming you are not using custom ROMs.
Also, what kind of WiFi connection you have, 2.4 or 5 GHz, which channel, encryption, etc
Asking because didn't see anybody else complaining about, and WiFi for me works perfect, on various WiFi APs at hone or work, with different settings
Omg it started happening to me 2 days ago aswell. It happened yesterday and the day before but today it didn't happen. And im using Magic Rainbow Rom.
I have got the same issue. Before that the newest FW where installed. I did it through firmware finder. It was L19C185B401. My P9 almost never getting updates himself.
I have got the same issue. How could i fix that problem.
Please help!!!

Report it to Google. Google Play Services is ****ing it.
Factory reset idea ?
I think I have exactly the same problem. WIFI icon in traybar is enabled, but wifi is not working and can't even turn on/off Wifi settings.
Today bluetooth keeps playing up, where MiFit is turning off Bluetooth and saying that it can't connect to the band because bluetooth is off.
When I will close app, start bluetooth and try to sync band, bluetooth goes off.
I am on a stock ROM
Also. If I will try to restart the phone, it will stuck on restart animation. Hard reset resolves the problem.
I also suspect Google play services as nothing else changed on my phone.
Problems are starting to be even worse. My battery went crazy, 70% to 5% in half an hour. Phone works really slowly. I'm quite angry, my p9 is a few months old and those problems came out of blue without any particular reason.

Is "hard reset" the same as "factory reset"? I want to avoid this if it's not absolutely necessary. Configuring all installed apps again would take forever. I've currently done "factory reset" to Google Play Services (came back to version that was preinstalled with phone), if they are causing the problems, it should stop by now.
I have the same problem (L09 FW-B395) . It started few days ago along with crazy battery drain. I did factory reset but it didnt help. I tried to set wifi config. during sleep to be always on and it seems to be working. I havent had wifi broken for 2 days now.
As we can see there is no connection between issue and FW version. We all have different. So is it really could be some app issue? I've got battery drain issue too. It seems like wi-fi can not connect finally but take battery for connecting again and again untill it fully discharged. Only reboot helps. :/

WiFi issue
I'm having the same WiFi issue from several day ago.
Same here, also the battery drain and heating are present. I noticed when this issue is on, I have no access to see the battery usage information. I'd be really pleased to find a solution to this problem. I have had P9 almost two years now and no issues whatsoever. Even the battery lasts usually two days until this came up :/
I too have the exact same problem which I started to notice a few days ago :
- Crazy battery drain appearing randomly with the phone getting abnormaly hot
- Wifi is not responding anymore, not possible to deactivate/activate it in settings or with wifi icon in shortcuts. No more networks detected but wifi stays activated and I guess it is heavily searching networks, draining the battery.
- No access to battery stats (it is refreshing continuously and does not display anything). When stats are restored, there is a "blank" period in the battery trend/graph
- Only shutdown/restart the phone solves the problems until it comes back !
It appears randomly and I thought my battery was dead again after only a few months (new battery). I am on B399SP02 (it's a P9 EVA-AL10). Any idea what's going on ??
I have exactly the same issues for a week or so. Initially I though this is related to this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76525545&postcount=31
because I am on b393 but apparently this falls more under this thread.
What I have noticed today is being above 50% of battery problem disappears (edit: this morning I've lost wifi at ~65%). When I am below I cannot even restart phone due to some infinite loop and need to do hard reset.
How is it possible to experience the same issue at almost the same time on different ROM versions?
What Google Play Services version are you on? Mine is 12.6.73.
Same thing on my Vodafone (Hungary) version of P9.
For me, a hard reset solved the issue!
Update: the issue came back (Google Service drains battery).
I had no other choice, but disable google service until get fixed.

GPS Ruined after EMUI 10 Update (won't work even with hard reset)

Hello,
I have a model CLT-L09 (Region: Spain). I have had a problem since update to 10.0.0.161. My GPS started failing, it would find satellites but won't use them after 1-2 mins. As a result when I use Google Maps or other apps the cursor won't follow me until 1-2 mins. GPS before worked flawlessly, insta-located me inside my home. I did a hard reset to clean my phone and updated again to 10.0.0.161. The problem persists. Last week I updated via OTA to 10.0.0.171. This solved the problem for a day, then GPS was ruined again...
Can anyone help me? Many many users are having this problem, just search "P20 pro GPS" on google...
Thank you a lot,
Same here. I'm following.

I haven't tried because I don't have any issues with gps, it works perfectly fine... I have P20 Pro, CLT-L09 and it's on 10.0.0.171 (c432e3r1p3) firmware.
I'm only guessing that incremental ota update messed something up in your case... I never take incremental ota updates and always update with HiSuite which downloads full firmware (4.xx GB in size).
I downgraded to EMUI 9 with full wipe and reset with Hisuite and yet got GPS problems.
I have this problem too after updating to EMUI 10. I tried dowgrading til 8.1 but GPS is still not working. I tried all suggestions I could find to fix but nothing worked

Hello guys, I have done the same and no succesful. However after hard resetting/updating GPS works like a charm for a day.
I went to Huawei technical service and got my battery and motherboard replaced (new IMEI). Well, I stayed in Android 9 for some days and GPS started working badly. Now updated to Android 10 and here we are again... Is it maybe about Sim Cards, or some apps, configuration we got?
I downloaded some GPS app and my phone feels like 'cold starting' everytime. My other phones fix GPS location instantly.
Hmm.. Could you try this...
Download GSP Test from Playstore
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest
Run, press 3 dots in top corner, go to AGPS/Clear and update
Then wait a bit a see if you get fix

I have already did it. In other phones when you do that, it takes a little more longer to fix. In this phone it feels like you are always resetting agps. Putting off and on gps makes me wait for 1-2 mins to fix. It's like the gps does not remember the previous state...
So, resetting agps does nothing
Edit: in these apps. My phone starts at 0 satellites in view always, then progressively start seeing satellites. The problem is even I see 10-13 satellites with good signal it won't use them. With other phones whenevef I have 5-6 satellites it fixes... It's weird.
I've had the same issue for over 9 months now... It locks GPS but then loses satellites when phone is in sleep mode.
There are many other users with this issue - so far no one seems to have a solution.... This is outrageous!

Hi,
I've found somewhere a tip that seems to work on my phone, but not a definitive solution. If I reboot the phone, the GPS starts to work fine until I set the airplane mode. That's what I usually do overnight.
Then the airplane seems to break the GPS and after having set it the only way to recover is a reboot.
Are you experiencing the same?

Question Device Freezing on MIUI 13.0 4 GLOBAL.

My device keeps freezing 3 to 4 times a week after MIUI 13.0.4 global update and I would have to restart the phone to resolve the issue. I never had that issue on MIUI 12.5.9. Is anyone else having the same ???
I had some performance issues and freezes after updating to 13.0.3. Then I performed a factory reset and the phone improved a lot. I still think that 12.5 performed better, but at least it's stable again.
Mine feezes too sometimes, mostly when trying to skip forward youtube videos more aggressively. It either unfreezes after 10-15 seconds or reboots by itself. But only happened 3 or 4 times so far.
13.0.3 Global, waiting for next update
Since the V13.0.3.0.SKFEUXM update I have massive battery drain, Google discovery doesn't work correctly and the notifications aren't erased when I wipe them. Any help please? Thanks
Issues with MIUI13 seems to be a lot. I am rooted and use the EliteROM MIUI13, except for battery all seems to be working fine.

For battery issues, I recommend checking "battery", under settings, to see which apps are consuming the most.
In my case, Google Location history and Google Play Services were the top battery consumers. I checked their permissions and found that they were set to "always allow access to location", which resulted in some mad GPS and battery use. After setting them to "only while using the app", battery became just as good as it was with 12.5.
Your experience might be different, especially since you have a completely different model.
Same issue and didn't happen before at all!

I sent feedback (Applications, Feedback) 4 times to Xiaomi and got this reply from them 3 times: ' Dear Customer: Mobile phone System lag/hang when daily use, it is recommended to clean the phone memory, close the background application, leave more running space or restart the phone, and charge it in time. Thanks for your feedback. Mi Phone Feedback Team'
It's so annoying as I've plenty of space on the phone and go change it in time. I use this phone as much as I always do - I'm not the problem here; the update is!
Anyone got solutions? I don't really want to do a factory reset...

For me the culprit was the MIUI "Security" app. I started the phone in emergency mode then went to settings, apps and deleted cache and data for the Security app. Rebooted the phone and never touch the Security app again - so far it's OK, but this is a very unsatisfactory situation.

What do you mean by
started the phone in emergency mode...
Is it the standard recovery mode?

Yes, standard MIUI recovery, then choose safe mode.

I did the same on my wife's phone redmi note 10 pro with miui 13.0.10, upgraded from 12.5 just after unbox - > always suffered from this issue
I'll keep you posted on the outcomes.

The version of Security app is 6.2.3-220622.1.2
Another issue - maybe unrelated? - is that sometimes it takes a couple of seconds or more to turn the screen on, after pressing the power button

How did you find out that the culprit was the security app? Having the same issue here.

Sorry for late reply.
For me, I knew it was the security app because the phone showed a notification saying the security app had stopped, or something like that before it froze, but it definitely said the security app had malfunctioned and that's why I cleared its data.
Hope that helps.
