I'm currently on Juwes 5.0 ROM and use Launcher PRO as my home screen launcher.
I have noticed that TW Launcher is still running in the background and using quite alot of ram. Can I safely remove TW Launcher or will it mess up other parts of my phone that rely in it?

On stock rom I deleted it, no problem. I use ADW Launcher EX.
Same as the previous poster - I always remove TW Launcher and it's never caused a problem.
Cool thanks guys guess I will be removing it soon then.
What about the stock email and messaging apps? I don't use them either but I'm sure I remembered reading that if you remove one or both of them it will cause problems?

I use Go SMS and they recommend you don't remove the stock messaging app. Not sure about the email, but I've never found a reason to remove it.

Well a good reason to remove it would be because it shows up in osmonitor as using ram in the back ground even though I haven't used it ever!
I think its a shame that android isn't modular enough that these things maybe can't be removed or maybe it is samsungs doing because they never thought that anyone would want to use anything but their apps

Can't help you there, I use the stock email and messaging apps. But, one time after a flash, my mms apps was missing, and i didn't realize it immediately. I had no problem during theses few hours....
remove using titanium backup.. it can remove almost any system app..
I have removed it with Titanium on overcome 4.0, no problems..Using Go Launcher X..
I just flashed the stock o version, and tried uninstalling the lg sns app, as i thought it is the one that contains Facebook and twitter. After the uninstall my home screen would no longer load and i had to reflash again. How can i remove those apps?
Also on the stock home screen bar how can i change the default messaging link?
Thanks a lot
Ps. I tried searching for these, as i thought these should be common questions, but my searching skills are just horrible.

Is it even possible to uninstall the LG sns apps from stock rom? Are you rooted? For what I know, it is a system app and cannot be uninstalled like ordinary user apps.
Anyway, if you phone's rooted, you can just download titanium backup and either freeze it or uninstall it from there, should be no problem, I do that too, I don't like the sns apps and some other LG bloatware. I don't know about deleting it manually using apps like root explorer or es explorer will have any negative side effects, but it usually don't.
Cheers!
Yes i am rooted and I tried to remove sns and also F-Secure using Titanium Backup, but thereafter i could not get to my homescreen anymore. I will try it again. Maybe it was something else i did, and not the removal of sns that caused the problem.
While rooted, uninstalling them with Titanium Backup works fine for me.
About the default messaging app on the home screen, if you mean by the 4 icons that is always there.. I don't think you can change it,atleast not easily anyway, there is no options for that.
Actually it's very easy to change the bottom icons in the LG Launcher. Enter the apps-drawer, click menu/edit, then just drag the apps you want down to the bottom icons.
Thanks. That was exactly what i wanted. I tried just dragging without the edit part but that did not work. I was also able to remove sns without problems.

It works! I though I tried it before when the first time using stock rom 8months ago and it did'nt work! So I thought it will never work for stock rom! Thanks!
so like always I get my phone from verizon and there are just LOADS of apps that I don't want and will never use. the first thing I usually do is download my browser of choice (xscope) and then I will go into an application and click a link or an ad. you are prompted with a dialogue of which of the browsers you want to use to open I chose xscope and tick the box that says use this as default. I am then safe to un install the stock browser and not run into any problems. I also took out the ones I knew wouldn't interfere with anything like netflix, blockbuster, pre loaded game demos.
my question is , is it safe to remove these moto blur applications, I never use facebook on my phone, I don't twitter...they're wasting space and I'd rather just get rid of them, but my last phone was the moto droid 1 and it didn't have any of this blur bull****.
so are there any complications if I remove my facebook or twitter apps then I click someones facebook link and my phone explodes because it cant find the moto blur app? Also can I get rid of the backup stuff...and Im not sure why...but Gallery has been replaced with 'my pictures' and it has that ****ing red thing on the top which indicates it will upload these to my verizon account....uhhh no thank you....do I have to keep this or can I just install an old gallery and make that default?
I wouldn't remove them, just freeze them. Titanium backup pro is a great tool and really worth the money. There's a lot of apps that can be frozen and not cause issues, check the Android development for the Droid 4, there's a thread about which apps you can freeze. Removing them can cause instability with the phone, and no sbf files have been released

I doubt anyone at the store is going to know its rooted if I just un install that.
Please don't return your phone. You root you pay!

Here's the list of apps I froze on my Droid 4. My battery life is amazing now. I was at over 50% after 20 hours on battery yesterday.

Can't I just unroot it? I know none of the retards at the store will be able to tell the difference...but I figured I would use the Droid 4 Utilities seen here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492843 and just unroot it and give it back? you think it will work?

So that's all the replays I'm going to get
Well I did some looking around & found that the name of the APK for Blinkfeed is "launcherUpdateScreen.apk" that made me fear full about removing it.
So I ask again can I remove it???
I'm running HTC Sense UI everything is stock I have just unlocked & rooted the phone
Oh more ? I have can I delete gmail.apk I don't want it & want to know if I remove it will it F up my phone???
Is there a list of what's safe to remove & what's not safe to remove???
any time I tried to disable or remove Blinkfeed from my m7 the launcher would stop working. good thing before I tried disabling it I did a backup. (Dont bother trying to disable) the best that can be done to is it go into your settings and remove blinkfeed from the page itself.
Thank you

thank you & I have already done just that.
so from here on I will give up on removing it
but do you update Blinkfeed or see any point in updating it when you see Blinkfeed come up in the play store?
also got any input on gmail.apk?
If you don't use Gmail then I'm sure you could remove it. Although I would freeze it first to see if it causes any problems. It may mess with hangouts or other Google Apps.
Use a third party launcher...Nova,Apex,ADW,Next,ect.

This is exactly what I was going to say. Honestly, there's nothing good about the Sense launcher except for blink feed, so if you're want to "desensitize" your phone, you can do that via Ti. I would freeze HTC Weather, blinkfeed, and service pack. I did that once, and I didn't see any negative effects. Once you're confident with that, you can defrost then delete those apps via Ti. Make a backup if your setup is valuable.
Oh yeah, you'll lose all lock screen shortcuts if you delete blink feed, so keep that in mind.
Thanks for all the replies everyone

I'm a upper level android user & that's only because I'm a hardcore Linux user
but changing things like the launcher & other things beyond that is too advanced for me.
I have fears of bricking my phone, so I keep everything stock & just root/unlock/s-off etc...
but stay stock.
As for the Blinkfeed I will just leave that turned off & alone
but even with it off should I update Blinkfeed?? there is an update for it in the play store.
As for the gmail I will try & freeze it & see what happens.
the Google user I have for my phone, I don't use the gmail.
the user I made is just for my phone, the only thing I use it for to just to access the play store & that is only to get free apps.
I have another gmail user that I use for email but I don't trust checking email over a phone so I don't. (I work in computer & network security so I'm always paranoid about security)

For future reference, root/S-OFF/unlock is a much higher percentage for bricking your phone than installing a launcher APK, which has about a zero percent chance.
So you should feel safe installing Nova or any other launcher that you want if that will help your situation...
well I have confidence in doing that because I have done it soo many time & I understand all of it but there are areas of Android I just have not had the time to learn.
with a third-party launcher does the old one keep running in the background? & can the old be remove all the way?

A third party launcher is just another app. When you first install it, it asks you which launcher you want to use by default, or you can select either launcher every time you press the home key.
If you ever want to you can remove the new launcher via uninstalling the app and it just defaults back to the old one, exactly as you had it.
Just think of it as a normal app, it has about as much chance of bricking your phone as Candy Crush.
Hi, I'm planning buying P7, however I've read somewhere few things which worries me. First of all I've heard that you cannot change launcher and something about changing default apps. I want to use hangouts for sms for example. I'm not sure I'd like huawei stock apps. Can I hide or remove them?

yes, you can change the default app for home, sms, music, call, camera, gallery, email...with the emui 3.0 update the voice setting is difficult to find but after you know where it is everything goes well..for other app you can choose to freeze them (so the app apk is present but like it's unistalled)
Thanks for the answer. Freeze you mean they're not present on app list in launcher but apk still exist?
You can put the launcher that you want.
