Changing firmware questions - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I've just bought an N960F/DS 512Gb from what seems to be a reputable ebay seller and it is on its way to me. I believe it will come with Singapore Global firmware.
The N960F is not available in my region (only the N9600) so I am thinking of changing the firmware to stock UK BTU. Can I just install stock UK BTU firmware on it using Odin without causing any issues or tripping Knox?
Do I need to check the Re-partition box in Odin? I read somewhere that maybe I should but I had thought I should avoid doing that.
My local CSC is TPA. How can I check whether that is included in the multiCSC that I believe will be on the phone? How also to check if it is in the BTU CSC?
If TPA is already in the firmware, should I just install the AP, BL and CP from the BTU firmware and leave the CSC alone?
TIA
Edit: I see OXM is in the BTU CSC and I believe that includes TPA so I guess I can install the whole of BTU including the CSC.

Thanks. As I'm switching firmware, I will be using CSC instead of Home_csc. So do I tick the Repartition box?

if i remember correctly since pit file is in csc.md5 it will auto tick itself? load it and see.

To be safe, NEVER tick the repartition box. Since using Odin on the S4, S6,S7,S8,Note8, S9,& Note 9 I've never selected that option.

I have checked and Odin does not automatically check the Repartition box when I add the CSC file. So I guess I leave it unticked?

yeah play it on the safe side.
but if you look at the log window i belive the pit file gets parsed anyways.

Firmware change from Branded to Unbranded

Hey guys,
i've got the G800F branded by T-Mobile.
PDA G800FXXU1ANL2
CSC G800FDTM1ANL1
I would like to flash the unbranded DBT version.
PDA G800FXXU1ANL1
CSC G800FDBT1ANJ1
since i dont want to trip the knox counter i've read that flashing the same firmware wont trigger it. the last letter in the PDA / CSC code is for the version right? since the last letter in the CSC from the DBT version is "J" which is before the "L" would flashing the DBT version trigger my knox?
greetings and thx

You won't trip the knox since it is stock Don't worry about anything. Just flash it via odin in PDA/AP section and don't forget to wipe data and cache after installing

Short answer: NO...

Stuck with old firmware (no updates available)

I'm stuck with the an old firmware, even the security update was on March 1, 2018. It is from Singapore (STH) but I am currently in the Philippines. When manual update is used, it says latest software installed.

You have to get familiar with using ODIN if you want to have the latest firmware.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note8/SM-N950F/SER/download/N950FXXU5CSA3/251208/
This will wipe your device due to mismatched CSC, so backup first.
Don't worry. You can switch to English for these ROMS.

Thank you kind sir. Flashing official firmware via ODIN does not trigger knox? Also is it normal that I do not receive ota updates because I changed countries or networks?

Well I can answer one of your questions and that NO it won't trip Knox because you'll be flashing the OEM firmware straight from Samsung.
If you have Samsung switch on PC you can see by plugging your phone to the PC and see if it comes up with an update. If not use the Odin to update your phone.
Use the home-csc file and you won't lose your data! (Flash the bl,ap,cp, "home-csc" in odin)
Warning ! The csc file (CSC be itself) WILL delete your data!
But choose just one csc file, so choose the one you want.

If I choose the CSC file and not the Home CSC file, will I be able to change from STH (Singapore Starhub) to XTC (Philippines Openline)?

If you take your sim card out and do the csc file flash it will default to xsg/xsg/xsg. (I think)
As soon as you put your sim card in it will go to the csc that your sim card sets it to as long as it's in The multi-csc firmware. ( the OXM in the firmware name is the multi-csc.)
So check the official note 8 SM-N950F firmware thread in the guide sub forum to see if your csc is in the oxm firmware.
You can change the csc but you'll need the combination firmware to do that. Search for changing csc in xda there are guides on how to do it.
edit for some corrections.......
Edit 2: just check the oxm XTC is included in it. So take sim card out (!!!!but first backup up all important data to pc!!!) Use Odin with the csc file (to erase phone, basically start from scratch like you just turned on the phone for the first time.) Let it boot up without sim card, then place sim card in and see.

What did I do wrong trying to change my CSC?

I received my international version of the N960F/DS. It had XEU firmware. I tried to install BTU firmware via Odin using a SamFirm BTU download and a UK Giffgaff SIM and selecting CSC, not Home_CSC. I still ended up with XEU.
1st question - am I likely to get Pie and other updates more quickly on BTU than XEU?
2nd question - how do I change from XEU to BTU? I think I saw that on previous Galaxies maybe you had to install a firmware not on the OXM multi CSC and then install BTU afterwards. Is that what I should have done? If so, what CSC do you suggest?
3rd question - should I just leave it alone?
TIA.

Use search instead of creating topics saves space
simply flash desired firmware wont work, you will need to flash combination file first before that.
follow above comment will work

Can I flash UK firmware to remove international firmware without tripping Knox?

I am considering purchasing the Note 9 but it is an international variant. I was just wondering if there is a way to flash the UK firmware onto the phone without tripping Knox. The Note 9 is a SM-960F/DS I want to flash a SM-960F firmware onto the phone. Is this possible?
You can but It will always remain as DS which stands for Dual SIM

the question dosent make sense.

The firmware for SM-N960F is the same for SM-N960F/DS!
Dial *#1234# in dialer and look at the CSC line.
If it reads N960FOXM.... then you're on the multi-CSC OXM, if not then you're on a Carrier csc and to go to the OXM csc you'll need to do a factory reset and flash the oxm CSC firmware of your choice.
Check sammobile.com for SM-N960F and look for csc - N960FOXM....
It shouldn't trip knox since your flashing Samsung approved firmwares but there might be a very small, I mean very small, chance that it might. (If done correctly it should go without an issue with knox. Just given a little warning so take it with a grain of salt.)

One thing to add, when flashing and to ensure you are getting UK settings and so on is you must be having UK SIM cards in both slots when the mobile is restarting after the Odin flashing.
Else you will stay on the international setup
