Got my phone this Sunday. I had LG G2 previously. Performance and battery backup wise this phone is comparable to G2. What bugs me is the touch performance. I can't seem to make horizontal swipes work properly. Majority of the time, the phone detects it as vertical swipes.
I then have to scroll down again and very precisely swipe left or right. Anyone else have this issue. Note that the same apps and my swiping methods have worked flawlessly with G2 which I had for more than two years.

Yup even happenes to me... Especially clearing the notifications,...
But it doesn't happen in CM!!!
This is certainy an OS issue, try updating to global beta or, to diagnose the problem, go to developer tools-> show touch information, and if you see some weird shaping lines and not the actual line you drew on the screen, with a little overflow, you might have a hardware problem.
Hope this helps

That is absolutely a relief knowing that it doesn't happen to CM. So It's definitely just an MIUI issue. Thanks for letting us know.
The same problem here in my mi5 (rom MIUI 8 Italia based on latest china developer)

The same problem for me: Mi5 (rom MIUI 8 Italia based on latest china developer).
Horizontal swipes seems too sensitive
I installed cyanogenmod and the touch gestures works Pretty good! Maybe miui 8 calibration has to be patched

I suspect it is a hardware issue.

it isn't hardware issue: I installed Cyanogenmod rom and with it touch sensibility is ok
I also have some issues while using the official miui global rom. But with both, cm13 and cm14.1 everything works flawless! So you should think about flashing it and seeing if its a hardware issue.

Welcome to the club, I had already a indentical tread like this, same one! To me this touch it's so annoying, because I constantly have to do something on my oneplus x brothers phone and my previously Xperia z5 father's phone, and the touch of then it's so much smoother... If I had knowledge of this issue previously it certainly would have been a deal breaker.. Im waiting for my boot unlocker SMS from Xiaomi... My biggest fear it's that the camera quality be much worst on CM 13, it is??

You are right. Been to CM13, and now back to MIUI 8 because I need the camera quality of MIUI. Well, its just now a matter of preference to me.
I have some problems with touch on my Mi5.
I'am on global developer (official ota) version, and I have sharp lcd on my Mi5.
From time to time, touch is loosing smoothness and look like is ''brooke''/not perform normal.
When this happens, only resete helps.
Right now, 2 days works normal.
Before thet, 10 days was normal, and than problem was there.
Is it any solution, but I want stay with MIUI?
Thanks and best regards.
The touchscreen is not working properly with the Nillkin Tempered Glass applied.
Every time I charge my phone with my Blitzwolf QC 3.0 charger, I have issues with the touchscreen. To resolve this, I need to reboot the phone. After the reboot, the touchscreen response is back to normal.
It looks like the charging changes the way the capacitive touchscreen works. Until I reboot the phone.

It happens the same to me, after charging the touch responsiveness most of the time is very slow and buggy, a reboot is needed. I'm on LineageOS and have tempered glass on, but can't remeber which one.
I'm happy to find that somebody else has this issue since I was thinking it was just on my phone, but this seems to be some kind of different issue then.
I can confirm that Xiaomi Mi 5s 3GB 64GB Golden version with Global 8.0.3.0 MAGMIDI Stable has this issue, the touch screen is not reliable, sometimes we try to swype horizontally and it understands a vertical swype, in other hand, it also happens that you touch the screen at one point and it thinks that you were holding the screen on that pointing, popping out a holding option.
I reported on Xiaomi's official forum, it's good to report there in order to get their attention.

The second issue you're reporting happens to me only with xMIUI xposed module, I activated 'expand notification with one finger swipe downward' and I has that issue too, but I don't have it without that module. Could this be your problem?
Wanted to start up a thread where users can share their experience with the underscreen fingerprint scanner as well as faceunlock.
I registered both thumbs and right index finger. It seems like the scanner will only read the finger correctly if the finger is placed in the same orientation as it was during the initial registration. This is a bummer.
Seems like the faceunlock unlocks the phone even before the fingerprint scanner tries to read the print.
The faceunlock is not that secure. I would go out and say it is not secure at all. My brother came to check my new phone and it unlocks the phone based on his face. I think it's only because we both have beards.
Anyway, bit disappointed, with they just stick with regular fingerprint reader on the back.
The underscreen fingerprint scanner is a tech that is not really ready for primetime. I hope this does not hinder the sales of the phone.
I am using a T-Mobile variant on 9.0.
Hi there,
So, my theory is that the finger print sensor is NOT optimized for Oxygen OS. there is a huge lag obviously compared to any previous Oneplus Phones. that being said, there are a couple of factors that can contribute:
Screen is dirty
Finger is dirty.
Try registering your fingerprint in Paypal or Cash or any of Google Pay or your banking app or any of the other programs that require a fingerprint sensor. Since it was already registered and (hopefully only) stored on the phone, these apps all registered my finger lightning (sorry apply pun) quick. NOT as fast as previous fingerprint sensors on the back, but MUCH faster, at least to me, as trying to unlock it on the screen once it's sleeping. Yes, and by the way, the sensor is NOT always on.
For instance, you have to either turn the screen on, or have the tap to unlock screen or raise to unlock screen on in order to have the sensor unlock your fingerprint.
There's also quite a few bugs i've found. To me, and I've owned every Oneplus since the 2, the T mobile version doesn't feel that optimized in terms of OxygenOS. I don't have an unlocked 6T to compare, but there's a few things that the T Mobile version doesn't include, that was announced at the presentation, since as the nice portrait mode of the camera. I am hoping that it gets updated soon, otherwise i'll just completely buy this out and sell it and pick up a RED 6 or 6T again.
Suffice to say, i'm a little disappointed. Great advertising though with EVERY tech site that this was the future, although the future is not as quick as what's going on now.
Face unlock is VERY quick, but not that secure. I agree.
If it wasn't for the larger battery and the T Mobile trade in, I would have gone back to the Oneplus 6, however, I can't find RED in 128/8.
I have multiple fingers registered and they all work fine and fast. Increasingly fast in fact ... So fast that it made me wonder if the phone was actually locked in the first place by using unregistered fingers. Works fine and fast no matter what orientation my finger is on the sensor.
I've been reading so many posts complaining about the in-display fingerprint sensor ... Saying it's slow. Glitchy. Inconsistent. I have not seen any hint of that on my new OP6T.
It seems to function as good as or better than my OP3T's dedicated sensor.
I was having issues as well so deleted all my prints and redid them this time by not pressing so hard on the screen. Now it works 10x better
I have an unlocked version and I think, in my case, it has worked better then the sensor on the back. My fingers are the nastiest , dirtiest(stained with oil and dirt) and it does better then what the back sensor ever did . It may be a touch slower but does a half second really matter ?

Same here, works perfectly for me, I have 4 fingerprints registered, both thumbs and indexes. They all got increasingly faster with time.
My friend came over yesterday with his pixel 3xl, was worried the in screen reader would be mediocre, but he was so impressed with the performance, decided to sell his phone and order the 6t, guess he couldn't live with that notch lol
You don't even need to add multiple prints. When setting up your print, just scan in at different angles with every press. I used the same strategy with the old external scanner so my fingerprint could be picked up at odd angles, and it applies to this as well. There is no difference between this under display reader and the old external one, in terms of speed.
I came from Samsung Note8 and the sensor on the 6T is much faster than the Note 8.
Not sure what kind of weird crap ya'll are having to do to get your prints working in different angles... I simply registered mine as normal. I can do them from upside down, sideways... It doesn't matter.
I don't understand why so many seem to be having issues with this. It's by far faster and more reliable than the capacitive scanner on my old OP2. One interesting thing I've noticed is that if there is a slight delay, it's the OS not the scanner. Sometimes I'll remove my finger before the screen unlocks but the screen still unlocks, it just takes a few extra microseconds. The scan time is less than a second and it seems to work in various finger positions.
Coming from 5T and 6 I find the 6T scanner to be perfectly fine. It may be "marginally" slower but we're really splitting hairs. It fires up and unlocks in a timely manner.
As for face unlock if I wear my sunglasses in the car it won't unlock with my face. I have to pop my shades off for it to register.
I have no issues with mine, I can unlock it from any angle on all my registered fingers. I'd recommend deleting your fingerprints and reregistering.
Maybe we should start posting how we registered our fingerprints. The ones that are having success should post how they registered there fingerprints. Then we can determine a sure fire way on how to do it.
The scanner is working fine for me.
I found that for my left thumb, training it in the way I place my finger when I pick up the phone made it fast and flawless.
Too everyone who states its laggy or slow, especially compared to previous ONEPLUS devices, remember this, the in-display fingerprint sensor is optical meaning it scans an IMAGE of your finger as reference. Hardware fingerprint sensors map a 3d layer of your finger which makes them faster and more responsive because they do not have to rely on light or image capture. I can say without a doubt tho, the oneplus 6t has the fastest optical fingerprint sensor compared to other manufacturer, including the mate 20 pro. This has also been proven in a couple youtube comparisons. Optical will never be perfect because it relies on light, pressure and image scanning. I have used the fingerprint sensor and face unlock and I am quite impressed with both, no issues at all for me. Yes they are both less secure but if people are that worried about security, stick with a PIN instead. I am by no means bickering at people, just want to relay useful information to provide a valid arguement in OnePlus' favor as they have truly optimized their unlock methods compared to others who use the SAME technology.

You have to pop your shades off because part of the code for face unlock is that it requires youre eyes to be looking at the screen to unlock. Its so that someone cant try to steal your phone while your sleep and unlock it with your face to snoop. Test it, have a friend look at the phone while you look at it with your eyes closed, then open your eyes and it will unlock.

When I registered mine, I do the same thing I do to all my phones and I actually turn my finger in multiple directions and that seemed to work for me. I can scan it side ways and up and it works, atleast for me it did.

If you do that then it may not recognized you when your shades are off. What you could try is start recodring your face with your shades on, then as it goes, take them off and see if that works
Wonder if some phones are "defective"? Mine is pretty fast.
Hi! this is my first time to post about my Mi9T Pro (Global version) "6/128" that i bought yesterday here in Philippines..
my issue is only Noticeable in Playing Games like Competetive like "PUBG, Call of Duty, ROS, any Games! i think all of them ?? what i mean is.. a HUGE TOUCH DELAY!! when your 2 thumbs are on the Screen and your right Thumb swipe faster to rotate 360 is not that accurate.. i can really Feel it as a GAMER. i bought this Device more on GAMING, because of Notchless Design and AMOLED panel.
when i Play any Games i mean the Dragging on Screen Sensitivity when Scoping or Not. its not accurately going on point where i swipe my thumb.. for Example: i swipe upwards.. it goes upwards also but theres a shaking on Screen.. i cant AIM properly..
soo is there any solution on this?? can a Custom ROM or Kernel can fix this?? cause i will Unlock my Bootloader immidietly! i dont have Tempered Glass installed. only the stock Casing that are intack on the Phone.. nothing else..
soo i need your advice! im currently on 10.3.3.0 (PFKMIXM) version. latest Stable
Sadly, the touchscreen on this phone is terrible. Let's hope the new MIUI 11 software update coming in the next few weeks would solve the issue.
i dont think Android 10 can solve this..
its a hardware issue and common problem in all xiaomi device , just a matter if you are affected or not . i guess its all because of cheap low quality touch panel to cutting cost.
Did you solve this issue???? Im buy MI 9T pro and play CODM too. I also meet your problem
A) Take it back and get a new one; or
B) request a warranty repair.
However, if it's not purchased from an "authorized reseller" Xiaomi will avoid taking any responsibility for the problem. They did the same to me with the Redmi 5 Plus - widely known touchpanel fault - 100% manufacturer issue, zero help. Tons of users of that device have all manner of input freezes.
At the end of the day what matters is that you're happy with it - after all, it's your money. Make sure the seller takes you seriously. With issues like this it can be a pain to get sorted - as the phone might appear and be perceived as working "normally" but evidently the touchscreen isn't behaving ideally in videogames. Given you bought a high-end phone specifically for this purpose, make sure they take it seriously.
If the replacement handset still suffers the same issue you're describing then I'd suggest getting a refund altogether if possible. I can't say I've had issues here and I tried PUBG mobile which works fine (albeit the touchscreen controls don't feel natural anyway) - but as someone whom is very perceptive to faults other people don't notice (like frame jitter, ghosting, screen bleed, dead pixels or crappy acoustics) it can really grind my gears when tech products don't hit the mark. You need to make sure it suits your needs - it is, after all, a 'flagship-type' phone. If PUBG mobile doesn't feel right on another BNIB Mi9T Pro then it might be worth spending a little more and going for a OnePlus 7.
I recently had an expensive 'freescrolling' mouse that kept subtly scrolling up a few lines by itself after I scrolled down. You could live with it but I've not had that from even cheap Chinese mice.
Hello everyone, hope the weekend is going well.
A Huawei user here (current devices Mate 9 and Mate 10 Pro), I'm at the verge of purchasing ROG II with 12GB/512GB from AliExpress.
I've gone through this forum & seen a lot of comments. TBH, I want a powerful gaming phone and out of all the options (redmagic 3s, blackshark 2 pro, IQOO pro, Nubia Z20, OnePlus7T etc), the air triggers are the pulling factor for me using a phone to game without always having to use accessories (maybe in a meeting or somewhere I have to look serious:laugh
I noticed some complaints on dust getting into the wide angle camera. Now that's a serious issue for me being in a Sub-Saharan environment and planning to use the phone for the next 3 years or so. Is it batch-specific or general as buying from AliExpress I doubt if there's warranty.
Also, display quality (regardless of 90Hz/120Hz) is very important to me. I love puchy amazing oled displays like the the top-tier Samsung S10+, iPhones and OnePlus7T
I believe none is in the best position to advise than you guys here already with the device.
What do you think?
ROG II?
Or any other one....
Thanks

Well, I have been decorating in my house for the past month, dust everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE! (see screenshots), and I haven't got dust in the camera with my phone on me all the time... So it could've just been a rare case or cases, I can't remember if it was only one user...
Also, the latest update allows you to customise the air triggers for gradual slide eg. when drifting cars or running /walking in a game. Pretty nifty... Again, see screenshots.
The only thing I think you might be downgrading on is the cam quality. I can't say from experience as I never had those phones to compare with...
Hope that helps...

As a fan of Huawei I get where you are coming from. My last two devices were Huawei.
Dust: I say just cover the vent like I did and never worry about it again. The increase in temps is very slight while gaming. You can always use the active cooler to prevent thermal throttling in long game sessions.
Display: Zero Complaints from me. Its great.
The downsides are no VoLTE which isn't a deal breaker for me. No WIFI calling which I don't understand why this isn't a thing. Its a bit heavier than I'm use to. Something I never noticed before is the way I handle my phone. I rest the whole phone on my pinky finger and it leans against my other fingers. This allows me to reach most of the screen with my thumb (I have long fingers) for easy one handed operation. Well the added weight of the phone I can feel in my pinky finger so I can't hold it like this indefinitely any longer. My pinky starts hurting now. The finger print sensor is trash. I use face unlock.
Despite that, I'm really enjoying my device. Its a great phone.
TLDR:
Cover vent to prevent dust if you are concerned
Display rocks
no VoLTE calling in USA
no WIFI calling in USA
Heavy depending on how you hold the phone.
Finger Print Sensor is trash. May get better with updates.
This is an awesome device and I'm enjoying it.
I personally love this phone so much (loved...) but right now, because i have problems with accuracy of my COMPASS and slow catching GPS signal, sent it back and waiting for results. On other side, all aspect like loudness, 120hz display and performance - this phone is absolute beast. I love it so much, even though is quite heavy. Wanna have it already back home fixed or got replacement

I've used the P7 abit now, and some things I can't get over.
1) The edges of the screen, is sharp for a flat screen. Hard to get used to.
2) Fingerprint scanner. I know, finger has to be clean and dry. Which it always is. I've turned on screen protector mode, registered each fingerprint twice and still having issues.
One thing that is making me hesitant to return/exchange is with TMobile you have the restock fee.
I probably should have gotten the OnePlus 10t or the Moto Edge 2022.

about the fingerprint, i face the same issue, its a hit or miss, mostly hit if you hold a finger in the correct place. try to enable the onbody detection which works pretty good if you carry the device with you at most times. you can also do face unlock which solves the problem.
other than that its a good device. you are going to get used to these small first world problems. you'll adapt. the 10t has other issues, i was looking to get it but the software support and the os is not what oneplus used to be (speaking from some experience). i exchanged my 7t for the p7 and have no regrets. like they say, never settle... with the moto edge i have no support in my country so... and on paper it looks fine but not that much better than the p7 (for me the CPU and GPU are the wrong set). if you want a solid device with the best of everything no matter what the cost? there's no such thing unfortunately. you have to sacrifice some functions or performance to get what you kind of looking for. so i hope that answers your question...

other than that its a good device. you are going to get used to these small first world problems. you'll adapt. the 10t has other issues, i was looking to get it but the software support and the os is not what oneplus used to be (speaking from some experience). i exchanged my 7t for the p7 and have no regrets. like they say, never settle... with the moto edge i have no support in my country so... and on paper it looks fine but not that much better than the p7 (for me the CPU and GPU are the wrong set). if you want a solid device with the best of everything no matter what the cost? there's no such thing unfortunately. you have to sacrifice some functions or performance to get what you kind of looking for. so i hope that answers your question...

I agree. I initially wanted to get the OnePlus 10t, but the manager said that the few ppl that actually bought the device, didn't have a good experience. But he didn't say why. Thought it was odd he said that because at first he said he didn't want to sway my opinion from the P7 vs the OP, lol.
