Us celluar Moto X

Guys, has anybody tried to take a Us. Celluar Moto X and run it on Verizon? I am contemplating doing such if its possible. I think the Us celluar bootloader is unlocked on the moto x but not sure. I am curious how hard it would be to do this. I have done this before on Samsung Galaxy s4 before, and it was a pain but, I am wondering if the Moto X will be much easier

Help me choose!

I have a Google Nexus 4 love it but it's on HSPA + for AT&T and I hate that about it..
I have a choice..
Come to the Moto X or Goto the Samsung Galaxy S4..
Can anyone tell me about their experience with the MOTO X what you love and hate about it what someone learns after buying it, if you could would you buy it again?

It is stock android+ - the plus being touchless controls, motorola assist and active display. It has no lag because it doesn't have an overbloated OEM skin like touchwiz on it. And the Motorola radios hands down beat the Samsung radios. I had the GNote3 and tested it side-by-side with the Moto X and in weaker signal areas the Moto X outperformed the GNote3 in speedtests as well as having fewer dropped calls. In strong signal areas, the GNote3 and Moto X perform the same.
Ergonomically, the phone just feels great in my hand.
Get the GSM unlocked Developer Edition if you can because the latest version of Android is not rootable on the ATT Moto X.

Well the bootloader is locked down hard on the ATT Moto X and no root available on 4.4.2 and the dev who rooted the Moto X on 4.4 says he is not going to work on finding a way to do it for 4.4.2 so probably never will be. Don't know if that is important to you or not but since you are here on XDA I would assume that it is.
yes very much so. my ability to develop my phone is very important

The att gs4 has a locked down boot loader also if you are able to get the baseband version of MDL for the gs4 get it! That means there's an exploit but I doubt you'll be lucky enough to get one. You'll probably get one with mf3 or mk2. You can still flash a few custom Roms via safestrap but when I had my gs4 I was always trying to get something close to stock android but the only Roms you could flash is touchwiz roms. The gs4 is a good phone but the gs5 is around the corner and the gs4 will be but a forgotten memory. Plus the features on the gs4 is gimmicky the features on the moto x is very useful. Get the moto x you won't regret it. And if you don't like it within 6 months get the gs5 with the att next program. No root method for att gs4 4.4.2 either on MLD

well, you won't be able to do it with an ATT Moto X running 4.4.2 unless someone finds a way to root and it doesn't look like jcase is interested in that.
I highly recommend the Moto X for it user functionality, but then again you're asking this on the Moto X forum. THe GS4 has too much gimmicky bloatware for my tastes, and I love the Moto X's features.

You won't be able to root on the gs4 once the 4.4.2 MLD update comes.
MOTO X Slapped
You have to shell out some cash and get the unlocked Moto X or Nexus 5. Most of the phones on AT&T are bootloader locked, and of course, since they are AT&T branded they won't get the same level of dev supports as unlocked version.
Nexus 4 is still a pretty good phone. I used it on T-Mobile and flashed the LTE radio. You can try that and see if you can pick up LTE on AT&T, but they only provide band 4 LTE support in very few places, so it's not very likely.
In all honestly, if you intend to buy phone for lots of custom roms, the S4 is a much better alternative provided you can unlock the bootloader. The Moto X I think is a better phone, but doesn't have much custom roms and kernel. The thing is the Moto X work so well I feel no need to root it, it already perform very well and have great battery life out of the box.

So what Roms has everyone Tested on Sprint Moto X

so i have been away for awhile and i know when i left Most ASOP roms on the sprint Moto x was causing data to drop.
So i was wondering what roms has everyone tested out on the Sprint Moto x and what ones seem to work and what ones dont
i have been running stock rooted for awhile and i am looking for a change in looks. also has anyone found a working kernel for sprint?

Verizon Moto X (2014) on T-Mobile?

Hello,
I am curious if the Verizon Moto X 2104 still works well on T-Mobile. I ask 'still' because I have read around and found some old posts that say the phone works great. I also found similar results about the Verizon G3 but after switching to T-Mobile found that text messages are inconsistent at best, hardly ever send or receive. The best I can figure is radio updates messed it up.
So I am wondering if the Verizon Moto X 2014 still works well on T-Mobile.
Thanks

News: Motorola No Longer Updating Moto Z2 Force T-Mobile, ATT, Sprint Models to Pie

https://www.droid-life.com/2019/06/...update-for-t-mobile-sprint-att-moto-z2-force/
Okay, I'm fine ?
I gave them a second chance coming from a Moto X Pure to the Z2 Force. As a longtime Moto user (OG Moto X)…I am not surprised because it's been nothing but BS since Google sold Moto to Lenovo. But it's still depressing. This was my queue to jump ship. Problem is I'm not impressed with the current smartphone offerings. Probably going to either give the Xperia 1 a shot, or wait for the Pixel 4's. Sad day. F-U Lenovo! Thanks for taking a great company and completely ruining it.
Yeah, the entire reason I purchased this phone is because of the price point, external storage (despite the non replaceable battery), and that it was going to be supported through pie. I would have never bought it if it wasn't getting pie.
Are there any other phones that hit all those points, because I won't go Moto again after this bull****.

I'm in the same boat as you.
Loved my Moto X Pure but was let down by the software support.
Gave Moto another chance w/ the Z2 force and it has been a colossal disappointment.
I use whatsapp video chat very heavily and no matter what I tried, the app would crash and disable the camera. The only solution was to restart the phone. I was really hoping the update to 9.0 would've solved that issue but there goes that hope...
Yeah, I'm in the "never again Moto" camp with you.
I emailed Motorola to request a bootloader unlock since they won't update to Pie. Hopefully they permit it.
Motorola contact page: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/prod_ask/
Bootloader Unlock page (AT&T and Verizon not qualify): https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b
Just got off the phone with Moto and att.... Att admits they have not requested the pie update because of the problems they have with 9.0 updates on the samsungs and lg's. They promise they will be requesting said updates once they get closer to finished with the other brands. I'll not hold my breath. They also could not explain why the wifi calling feature was disabled on this phone. Moto said z2f hardware was incompatible with the pie update. I called him out on the lie as Verizon has the same hardware and getting the update. He then said att had not requested the update so therefore would not receive it. Now I got both companies on same page.... Not requested so not sent. So Moto has written the update and has released it to Verizon and one other provider ( I forget whom). To me it sounds like the fault goes to att or they would have requested the update that Verizon does have for this phone. I'll touch base with att again in a month and see what bs they can fill me with then. The struggle is real!
It wastes our waiting. They gave us hope and broke it after a music note. If ATT doesn't give us Pie, he has to give us bootloader code.
Will those of us with unlocked bootloaders and Sprint phones be able to flash pie one it's released to Verizon?

It seems to be worth a try. If Motorola gives me unlock code for ATT, I will do it.

Same story here. I like the Moto Mod ecosystem, but not enough to buy Moto ever again.
@motorola, at&t is making you look bad. You should fix this!!
