I have had several people say they try to call me and the call never rings or it goes straight to voicemail. Has enyone had this problem? I've searched with no luck.
I am having the same problem. I thought it was T-Mobile.
have the same problem with my xz1 after pie update
This is a common problem for GSM.
Better networks and better signal handsets tend to do it less often.
The quality of the carrier's network itself plays a major role in this.

I've read several threads on this issue but my issue seems to be a little different. I'm on T-mobile and am dropping calls, usually at specific increments like 10 minutes or 15 minutes. I sent the original phone back to Motorola and got a replacement, same exact problem with the new phone. I've tried different ROMs and different radios to no avail. Marshmallow doesn't fix the problem either, nor does VoLTE. The issue doesn't happen on Wi-Fi calls, but sometimes the phone has problems actually placing these calls and I have to call the same person 2-3 times to get it to work. It sounds like a combination of a crappy baseband and strange coverage in my area. Normally my coverage is good, I live in a pretty densely populated area and get a good LTE signal 90% of the time. This has been happening for about the past 3 months or so. Any tips would be appreciated.
I am getting calls that go straight to voicemail. This does not happen all the time, but when it does there is no call log, just a voicemail notification. Searching the web and support calls to T-Mobile seems to indicate that it is because the Mate 20 Lite does not support VoLTE, even though the phone has the band support. When a call comes in, T-Mobile will try and drop the call from LTE to 2G/3G, fail and then send the call straight to VM. Cannot find a solution and it seems there are many people having this issue across many different brands of unlocked phones on the T-Mobile network.
Here is the odd part and why I think it might be the phone. I am getting insane battery life on the Mate 20 Lite. I charged the phone to 100%last night, went to bed and 8 hours later it was still at 100%. Last night I missed an important call that went straight to VM. No forwarders, call blocks, airplane mode etc. I also noticed that these straight to VM calls happen when the phone has been sitting/immobile for a while. Like the aggressive battery management is killing some service. This does not happen with a Xiaomi A2 that my wife is using.
BTW, I am connecting to band LTE band 4 and get near 40Mbps down when testing, so I assume I am getting 4G LTE.
The phone is still within the return window and if I cannot solve this, I have to send it back.
Anyone have a solution?
No solution. I have a similar problem where I live there is nearly no cellular reception and the only way to get calls is to be connected to WiFi which activates VoLTE / Voice over WIFI. Huawei Mate 20 Lite does not do it though. Why not?
I would like to share a peculiar trouble with my S10 that I purchased 8 days ago.
At my workplace, wherein I have been working for about ten months, I am now experiencing major trouble in calling with this phone - the person at the other end is never able to hear my voice properly - in every call!
But, outside of my workplace, this problem does not occur at all! Voice quality is amazing.
I went to the service center. One of the representatives immediately advised a factory reset and fresh installation of software from their system. I got that done, but the problem was still there. Very poor connection!
I went back and another representative gave me an advice which has solved my trouble magically! Now, the call quality is back to normal just like i get outide my workplace.
The advice given to me was to change the Network Mode from LTE/3G/2G to 3G/2G. He had said that this new phone has more bands than ever and that it is possible that my workplace environment does not support the new bands (sounds illogical). By the way, the signal bars still show 4G icon but not Volte/LTE like in the other network mode. (And my last phone, Mi 5, never gave me such a trouble)
Although the problem was solved, but i wondered that changing the mode from LTE to 3G will have a bearing on the data speed. I used Ookla speed test to determine that and yes, there is a major difference in download speed - it is less than half in 3G/2G network mode.
Can you please tell me if there is a trouble with my device harware or was the representative right?
LTE does require a much stronger signal than 3g and when you default to LTE the phone is probably just getting enough LTE to stay locked in to the signal. The LTE signal is getting knocked down in your building. Also HSPA+ will propogate better than LTE, even on the same bands.
Thanks for responding. In all this while I've done a lot of research. I managed to ask someone to come with their S10 to my office. The calls went through with this S10 without any hiccups whatsoever.
Also, I've been using the same network in this workplace on Mi 5 without any trouble. Also, there are many S9 and S8 users in my office. They have never had such complaints and they call on VoLTE.
Also, I tried two other networks and the problem persists.
Clearly, there is trouble with my phone. It is with the service centre now for diagnosis but they have been claiming that the problem lies with network in my area.
At the service centre there was another customer with Note 9 who complained of similar call drops but in random locations. The service centre simply did a fresh softwareinstall and sent him back.
My problem is that I will never be able to prove to them about call drops since the drops do not happen at the service centre.
I've had many occasions where I'm on the phone and the call drops. I try to pay attention to the screen as the 6T was pretty bad for that (I would face hang-up all the time) and it seems better with the S10 but I still get a fair amount of call drops. If I even attempt to hold the phone with my shoulder, it's almost guaranteed it will hang up as the proximity detector will enable the buttons.
Keep LTE enabled for data, but turn VoLTE off so calls switch to 3G/2G
Did you try to use a different sim card?
Hey guys, i'll start off by saying this is my first post, so go easy on me.
I'm currently running the oxygen OS pie beta 2 on my Oneplus 3T.
A couple of months ago, I had this weird problem pop up. People suddenly couldn't call me. And when I made calls, they say they can't hear me clearly at first and then after about 15 seconds, they can't hear me at all. The surprising thing is, I can hear them clearly on my side. I tried searching for solutions to fix microphone problems but that wasn't it. I thought it was SIM card problem and changed my sim. But the problem persisted. Then I wen't on to change to another carrier, which didn't solve the problem as well. I tried flashing havocOS thinking it might be a problem with oxygenOS, but still, same problem. By now I already know that it's a problem with the phone.
And then I tried switching the network to 2g only and viola. I could make and receive calls. However, data is super slow on EDGE (as expected). So after some time, I tried using 2g/3g automatic as the network setting (hoping the problem would have miraculously gone away). This time, the phone still couldn't make calls but it also got really hot. Sometimes to the point where it's too hot to touch the phone for long (no joke). So I immediately switched back to 2g only. I also tried 2g/3g/4g automatic and this allows me to connect to lte and the phone doesn't get hot but since my carrier has no VoLTE, I still can't make calls as the phone has to drop to 3g for calls. The phone takes a really long time to drop down to 3g and when it does, the calls still don't work and the phone gets hot.
So now i'm stuck on 2g only because I need to make and receive calls but data is just too slow to use. I hope I've given enough information. Any solutions?
Don't have a solution, but just a couple thoughts (shots in the dark, really):
1) What country are you located/what carrier do you use?
2) Does turning WiFi off make any difference? May not make a difference on this device, but I vaguely remember a while back someone having a problem with another device (and maybe a carrier specific issue) not dropping down to 2G for voice calls, and I think it only happened when WiFi was on.

I'm from Malaysia and i'm pretty sure it's not a carrier problem. My sim works on my friends phone perfectly.
Nope, wifi didn't make a differene unfortunately.
I got a strange issue, sometimes when I answer a call I can't hear other person, not sure why? It happens usually when they phone me.
I use VoIP calling and wifi calling due to weak signal at home, may update exynos. Any thoughts?
