I just got OTA Update to 10.1.1.0
Iam still on locked bootloader but want to unlock as soon as i can and flash AOSP
Is there any disadvantage like ARB when i update?
I think the ARB is just when going from one version of MIUI to a previous MIUI version. I think you should be okay when wiping everything and then flashing AOSP
Hi there,
Same question I have. I am on miui 10.0.3.0 and with twrp and rooted with magisk. /unlocked bootlooder of course/
Just got ota update to 10.1.1.0
Phone is global roms are official from xiaomi.
Rooting was a pain in the a** so I really dont want to mess it up about this encrypted issues…
AFAIK are all AOSP Roms for Dipper based on Pie. So it should be easier to switch the rom if your are already on a Pie based Stock rom. So go ahead and good luck for the AOSP-Trip. :fingers-crossed:

I would just like to know what would happen if i tried restoring a backed up version of the stock modem that come with my phone through TWRP. would it be safe or would i have a bricked phone by the end of it?
hi,
though I'm not experienced with that, it appears to be safe to restore a modem at the Redmi Note 4X.
Unsure about Redmi 4X but I'm interested too.
edit: there's already a discussion about flashing modems at XDA unter FIRMWARES:

What is unsafe is having a Marshmallow firmware for a Nougat ROM and up, if you plan to use Nougat or newer I'd recommend flashing 37_PA, the newest firmware from Global Dev MIUI, firmwares should be always universal unless it's noted, some MIUI update also comes with a firmware, if you see some Nougat ROM they'll ask you to update to a newer firmware if you were on Marshmallow, which is why MIUI 8 (MM) to 9 (N) will also update your firmware
TLDR; if your backed up firmware is from Marshmallow and your ROM is Nougat or newer no it's not safe, otherwise everything is good, if you want to update firmware just flash the boot.img from TWRP
hey thatnks much imma check it out
alright ill try this out as well thank you
There is a way to install an official MIUI rom without enable the ARB counter?
I've no ARB currently on mi MI8, i've always installed only Xiaomi.EU roms, and they have removed ARB update from their roms.
Comparing Xiaomi.eu and official Global Dev roms, seems that Xiaomi.eu removes the AndroidBoolLoader file: \firmware-update\abl.elf from their rom, but i'm not sure that this is the only things needed to remove ARB from official roms
If someone kown how to remove ARB from official rom, without removing entire firmware folder (needed to update others devices firmwares) ........
Hi All,
As you know they already released the Official Android 9.0 Pie for Huawei P20 Pro in EU.
I have the previous version of Android 8.1 CLT-L29.
My devices is:
-Rooted
-Bootloader unlocked.
Can I update via OTA to Android 9.0?
Is there any problem during the upgrade?
Will be still rooted and bootloader will be still unlocked?
If not what is method to do upgrade and still have a Root?
Thanks for your help!
You need to flash stock recovery first.
You will not continue to rooted.
Your bootloader will remain unlocked
Thanks for your kind answer.
Do you think should I update to 9.0 or should I stay with the previous version?
I am not that sure about the root process at the moment and I don't want to loose it.
I don't think there are that many new noticeable features. EMUI looks and behaves pretty much the same.
Hi there!
I know this might look like a dumb question but I want to know before I mess something with my phone, lol. The question is, are MIUI updates accumulative? I mean, at this moment I'm still on MIUI 10 (Android 9 based) but I want to update to MIUI 11 (Android 10 based), I own a Mi 9T Pro, global version running MIUI 10.3.3.0 and MIUI 11.0.4.0 it's available to upgrade via OTA, can I update with no problem? Or do I need to install the first version of MIUI 11 and the move to the latest version?
Thank you.
nah, you can easily just tap the OTA button and update no problem.
(locked bootloader right? if so, no problems)

Thanks. And yes, bootloader is locked and everything's stock. I will try to download the update package and then transfer it to my phone, of course the OTA version so I can update from the updater app.
Hi, a few months ago I replaced the rom on my global phone with the Indonesia rom. Is it safe for me to install OTA updates via MIUI updater app? I heard that Chinese RN105G flashed with global rom gets bricked when doing so, but global and ID rom are very similar though.
i found a guide on ghizchina, where is explained that via twrp is possible and it's safe
