(As long as it has root.)
Anyone know a root method that works on the beckham_amz model?
Where you saw that?

The app runs a test you open it and it worked. It says it can unlock the bootloader but it needs root.

Thanks for the reply. US Moto has the unlocked version w/ battery mod on sale again for $349. --same price at Best Buy. Guess it's time.
It is hard to have root until you unlock the bootloader, so not sure how sunshine is going to unlock the phone?

From the OP of that thread -
Z 10.4.B.0.569 couldn't be rooted with both exploit, so this root tools cannot be used with newer devices/firmwares than Z1 .257.

That's why I didn't link to that method in the first place.
Are you saying that it actually does work? If so, report it in that thread as a supported firmware.

No, it does not work. Tried already and can confirm it's failure.
Is there any way to do so without unlocking the bootloader?

Hi all. So I bought a Moto X developer edition. Of course has bootloader unlocked. Question I have is regarding root. All i have to do is install custom recover and from there install supersu? Even if I have the 4.4.2? If i install the 4.4.3 update before rooting, same steps? Thanks.

I have a (sort of) similar question: I've read that Samsung S5's dev edition won't receive regular OTA updates. My friend has this phone but wants the DE and is concerned that it also won't get the OTAs. Is that accurate? I saw that the OP asked about 4.4.3 so I'm assuming that this will be updated as often as the non-DE, correct? Thank you in advance!
Yup same method I used philz touch recovery flashed SuperSU then went to Philz Setting and chose fix root.

I'm able to install the app from the play store OK, but it's not connecting to my Sim.
I'm thinking the nano Sim I got may not have secured element, but before I go down that route, was just curious if anyone has gotten the app to work on the pure edition...

I have the firm element sim. It allows you to download the app, put in numeric pass code but then it says device not supported. I did all the hard legwork for you...

you likely need to change the device model in build.prop to trick it
Yes, that would work but without a backup or a custom recovery you are really playing with fire. Huge Risk
The app will also not work on a rooted device.

all you have to do is install root cloak and you can use this on a rooted device but it will not work on the Moto X

thanks to @graffixnyc you guys have a backup already located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/img-kxe21-187-42-pure-edition-rooted-t2892882
it's also super easy to use root explorer and create a copy of your build.prop.
and you guys have a test recovery for at least flashing zips. that's all you need right now honestly. take some risks. that's how you learn.

It does on Verizon! Not that I'd use it
So in theory one must change model number to supported device and hide root?
Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone had success?
Looking to get Moto X Pure but would like to keep using Softcard. (currently using Softcard on rooted ATT Note3 with root cloak).
Thanks in advance.

And you didn't read the part just above that! Take a look closely at the UNLOCKED bootloader section... as it says...
"Don't know if your bootloader can be unlocked? See Post 70"
If you followed that advice, you'd have had your answer and not needed to ask the question.
It contains a little background so you can understand, then a link/info to Moto's site which has pretty much the same info/steps in the link @Megatron007 supplied to unlock the bootloader... and even says how to root after you've unlocked the bootloader.
Is there any way to root this version on my Moto X? If there isn't would updating allow me to root it?

To be able to root, first you must use kingroot to gain temporary root. After that you can use sunshine to unlock your bootloader. Once your bootloader is unlocked you can use the standard root procedure which is flash TWRP and let it root your phone.

I tried using KingRoot but it didn't work. And is there a tutorial online with a video? Not very familiar with android.

Kingroot does not root the phone. It only makes it possible for sunshine to work via temp root. They say that it is a try various times process. If kingroot does not work, keep trying and eventually it will.
