Got a Canadian version P20 Pro, but when trying to activate the google pay pay in stores, got the error "This phone can't be used to pay in stores. This may be because it is rooted or altered to some other way."
Anyone saw the same issue? I didn't boot it even not unlock the bootlocker. Or is it due to I activated private space?
Its rooted?
If you are, you need to install Magisk. My device was rooted and has the same problem. Magisk sometimes works, I think on certain versions. So I finally gave up and relocked my bootloader and unrooted.
I need my GPay
No, it's not rooted. Contacted huawei technical support, they said could be a firmware issue and I have asked for a replacement phone. I will see how the new phone works.

So, my friend just bought a Galaxy S6 from T-Mo. Nice device and all.
But... she only speaks a bit of english. Her major language is portuguese, so I installed a custom ROM to enable full portuguese translation. Unfortunately, she called me today about her SIM card.
Her device, right now, is rooted and tied to T-Mo. As the operator states in its website...
Device not recognized by your service provider. Please call customer care. Rooting your device will disable the unlock application
Download the latest T-Mobile software to continue

Also, from the Play Store description...
Device Unlock is an application that allows you to request and apply a Mobile Device Unlock directly from the device. The application is compatible only with Samsung Avant devices at this time.

(she just realized that the phone was locked after she bought the nano SIM, which took 72~96h after the ROM flash, last tuesday, so no way to detect it)
So, four questions:
1) Am I able to unroot and retry the operation? (using, of course, T-mo stock ROM)
2) Does KNOX Status interfere something on it? and...
3) There is a way to request the unlock code from T-Mo?
4) According to Play Store comments, no one succeded in unlocking the device using this "tool". Even Samsung Avant's owners. Is that confirmed?
Thanks in advance.
.......I was able to unlock my phone after rooting and then returning to stock. Even stranger is I still owe $297 on my EIP. The app worked and says I'm permanently unlocked. I have no idea why it worked.
T-Mo said that the phone needs to be activated on the network (IDK if it was at least once, I think it was something like that).
Because this phone never saw the color of a T-mo SIM card, in fact. So it's a 50% chance of going totally wrong.
Update on the case:
for now, phone is still locked.
When I try to use the T-Mobile Device Unlock app, it says that "Server is not responding". IDK what to do anymore.
Downloading MetroPCS ROM to see if I can do anything about it... but no luck until now.
I have a P20 Pro bought from China, as I had problems using my S8+ with China sims, but Google Pay contactless doesnt seem to work. I can add my cards fine but when I try to set up contactless payments I get the message "Additional features could not be set up. Please contact your bank". I have contacted my bank and they ensured me everything is fine on their end. Everything was working fine on my S8+ so I don't believe it's my bank but rather the phone firmware. Anyone come across this?
If it's the firmware, is there a way to bring it to EU firmware but unroot it (lock the bootloader?) after I'm done? I'm quite sure Google Pay won't work if my phone is rooted and my bank apps definitely won't either.
Use the Huwei phone software to restore the phone.
You should do this first with a 2nd hand phone anyways in case previous owner modified it with tracking software etc.
Hi,
I have some issues with paying via Google Pay since the Pie update. It always shows "moved the phone to quickly", even when I don't. I have yet to successfully complete a transaction with Google Pay since the update. Has anyone of you had these issues as well? I am wondering if something is up with the NFC I have read somewhere that there is already a patch to the .163 update that resolves some NFC issuesm but don't quote me on that!

I'm still on the 9.0.0.108 beta version but Google Pay works like a charm.
I have the same issue, since the update. I am using Google Pay with an N26 bank account in Germany.
Hi!
I have the same issue since the Update to 9.0.0.163. (C432E5R1P9).
Google Pay says the phone has been moved to quick, Bunq App just keeps switching between "payment mode" and "unlock with fingerprint mode".
I used the Phone for payment (PayPal / N26) without issues until the Update.
I think there is something wrong with the NFC too.
I don't use it for payments but I need to read some NFC cards every now and then, and after the upgrade it sometimes takes 3-4 attempts to do that.
I also found it is terminal and card dependant. I have issues when I pay with google pay via paypal at the REWE terminals here in Germany. It always shows "moved phone tho quickly", but when i let the phone rest on the terminal for a longer time it works. Using my visa card it works as intended. On other terminals payments with paypal are also free of issues.
Good morning all.
I have a setup fully working with GMS, EMUI 11, notifications for ALL apps, GPS working and without GSF freeze.
Since there still are no bootloader code to get i was wondering if i can use magisk module with unrooted phone to install safetynet fix?
Will that work with no unlocked bootloader?
This is for google pay purposes.
2 years ago i had Mate 20 pro. And suddenly there where bootloadercodes to get for a small fee in this forum for USD 6 and then i had the perfect setup for my mate 20 with root and google pay.
I am still convinced that if bootloader codes becomes available again thru some thrid party offer (funky huawei og global unlocking solutions) google pay will work 100% with magisk module and safety net fix as i hides root access and phone operates normally.
I really love huawei phones and EMUI has really grown on me. I had samsung note 10 plus in a short period and i am never going back to one ui again. EVER.
How does magisk module work with unrooted phone?
PS! i am in contact with global unlocking solutions once a week to check if bootloader codes is available in whatsapp.
Hope all of ya is staying safe and well. #covid19
Have a nice day.
Regards from norway.
As far as I know we would need to wait for unlocked bootloader unless someone can say otherwise
I bought a device from ebay and shipped abroad (outside US), the IMEI and serial number states that the device is unlocked on Google's website , but when I received the device and inserted SIM it says that the device is locked under Xfinity and I need to contact the customer service to unlock it, contacted the live chat support after lot of tries in different days one of the agents told me that he check the IMEI and the device is not locked, and adviced me to try to call the customer support, after a lot of international calls, couldn't reach to anything cause I don't have account.
There's no return policy
IMEI: 358116101231886
Serial: 0A051JECB14767
Is there anything I can do?
I have a Verizon pixel 4a 5g beginning with IMEI numbers 53 as well, except I bought it new and never paid it off. A few days ago on the latest Android 13 update, I used the app hail to freeze all of my carrier apps, as I typically do this to remove any bloat, and since I couldn't use a SIM in the phone anyway since I stopped paying for it it didn't matter if I affected any apps related to service. It must be specific to the latest update, but I disabled every Verizon branded app and every app with the name carrier on it, but I did not disable or freeze the device setup / work config app because it is responsible for several things, such as the OEM unlock switch which is expected to always be grayed out. Well for some reason, this time and I'm convinced it's related to the latest update.... After freezing those apps, not even rebooting the phone, OEM unlock was suddenly able to be toggled and now I am rooted and using a T-Mobile esim on an unpaid off, Verizon pixel. This is the only advice I can give you, download shizuku and set it up because unless you have root you cannot freeze apps with hail. You have to run it using Shizuku. It can't hurt and it's worth a shot
Thank you, I will give it a try, can you share with me please the list of the apps you froze, if u have it saved.
Sadly It didn't work
