funkyhuawei debranded single sim to dual, android pie emui 9 - Huawei Mate 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

hi guys,
i have debranded my mate 10 pro through funkyhuawey from branded single sim to unbranded c432 dual sim.
the process has changed my imei so the question is: will i get emui 9 (no pie update till now)?
is there anyone who has carried out the same process that has already received pie?
thank you

This process is not supposed to change your imei at all.
I did the same and am so far receiving Ota so you should be good

My actual imei is different from the original one.
Anyway thanks for your feedback.
Have you received pie?

I have not received pie for now but received previous updates without problems so not worried.
For your imei you should register a ticket to FH support maybe they can explain to you what happened.

FH changes your IMEI when you rebrand. Under settings, there is maybe the old IMEI but you have to go to fastboot and type this: fastboot oem get-psid. This will be different than the one under settings. The imei in fastboot matters for everything like unlock-code etc.

Change Region with Firmware Finder

Hello,
I don't know what to do anymore. I just want to change the region of my P10 from VTR-L29C185 (Oreo) to VTR-L29C432 (Oreo) because I live in Europe and have problems with the mobile network.
I got my bootloader unlock code from the Huawei Site which didn't work (I get the check password failed! error). Then I contacted Huawei saying the code I got didn't work and they sent me the same code again. I explained them the problem and they told me that in their database, my phone is carrier locked to SFR but 1. I checked the SIMLOCK Status which is "SIMLOCK_DEACTIVE" and 2. my SIM Card from another provider works (I just have these issues like random disconnects and it only gets 2G).
So my question is : Can't I simply just flash the European Firmware via Firmware Finder ? Has anyone tried this ?
Thanks.
No you can't. You'll have to rebrand first, with an unlocked bootloader. Did you enable OEM unlocking in developer options?

Yes. The device is recognized in adb and fastboot, and the bootloader shows FRP Unlocked.
have you choose "after emui 5.x" when you asked for the unlock code? Because it sounds like you asked for unlock code for device "before EMUI 5.x".
next suggestion is that you entered wrong imei/product id/serial number. Where and how you get it?
Or anyway, where you bought the device? C185 is middle east region. And it could be locked to carrier by disabling unlocking bootloader and not sim cards.
you can try DC Phoenix ..you need to pay them, and they will send you the unlock key. Should work.

Yes I chose "after EMUI 5.X", and checked the imei/product/ and serial numbers multiple times. I got it from the settings and the secret menu with the dial code.
I bought it on a french website, but it was not a french reseller. I know C185 is middle east, and yes, I think paying DC Phoenix is the only thing left for me to do.
I read the bootloader code with DC Unlock. It wasn't the same I got from the Huawei website and it worked. Funny that Huawei themselves did not give me the proper code even after contacting them.
I hope I get to fix the network issues now. Thanks !
I also have Huawei p10 vrt-l29 and it is middle is one(c185) and im in sri lanka and belongs to Asia Pacific.i also have same network issue as you.so can i know is above method worked to you and how should i do step by step please help me to fix this im totally fked up with this this

that could help but it needs to connect to the phone via usb (last time i used octoplus was 7-8 years ago)- there might be a usb service to connect through internet but i dont know how safe is that.

No it won't work unless first you have to clone main imei via chimera tool or any other tool that help to colne imei and you have to buy dual sim tray also.
After that dr.keten rom will work as dual sim.
There are many video on YouTube how to clone imei for dual sim.

please can the process of converting N960N to N960F/DS be reversed, and how?
So, flashing the correct firmware for the device restore the phone to it's factory state with software updates available. Dual sim will be lost, (of course). and the device will show the true model as N960N, not N960F/DS

If it was sold as single SIM (L09), you cannot 'transform' (by changing firmware) to dual SIM (L29), because there are hardware differences.
For any flashing (changing cust for stock firmware, custom ROM, rooting, TWRP) you have to buy Bootloader code and unlock Bootloader (it is possible but the code is costly)

They are expensive. I'm also waiting for their answer (people say they answer from time to time, they depend on an insider, when he is able...):
https://imei.by/delivery
Ministry can also do it, little cheaper (40$) but you will need to open back cover and connect Testpoint pins. Minister will need Team Viewer remote access to your PC. I guess (didn't go for, waiting if I can buy from the first above) he will low-level flash an old Oreo, where from it was possible to generate BL code. Then he would, IMO, update back to Pie. Guy told me the operation might take an hour or two:
https://ministryofsolutions.com/paid-services/amp
I was also told that those can provide the code but for ridiculously high price (you can ask them):
https://funkyhuawei.club/
Finally, don't use them, they only unlock BL for one-time (and high price) you don't get the code:
https://chimeratool.com/

Exactly for VTR-L09 or some other Huawei model (it's not the same)
A year ago I played for a week and rebranded EVA-L09 to L19, tried a lot but it never became dual SIM.
To the other side, similar rebranding to dual SIM model worked fine and straightforward for P9 Lite
Edit: You could have provide a link to spread info and help the community (if single SIM P10 can be really rebranded to dual SIM)
This is what i got with MT tool
Can i install one of those updates and if ok how can i perform it
Thank's

P30 Pro C431 to C432? (Or better).

Hey guys, I'm very confused with the amount of information around about the P30 Pro rebranding, FunkyHuawei doesn't support the P30 Pro as we know which leaves us to our own devices.
Here in the UK my P30 Pro is on contract (EE) and sim locked of course..
Unfortunately this means I'm on EE's firmware which is fine but slow to get updates, I'm on June still when August is already out...
My question is, is there ANY way I can change from C431 to C432 (or better) and get on to .193?, I imagine the sim lock will remain which is fine, I just want to get faster updates..
Sorry if y'all have been over this already I'm just trying the get a definitive answer in this thread
Note: am I correct in thinking C432 is the best/faster firmware for updates?
Thanks in advanced :highfive:

As far as I'm aware with Huawei devices , changing firmware regions is not possible without root.

I'm on C431 on the non-Pro P30 and have the .193 August update, also on EE
Try the eRecovery method, and the Hisuite update method
Also read something about the carrier software only installing after inserting the SIM, to return to stock firmware remove the SIM card, factory reset the phone

According to my knowledge/understanding,
C432 is global European
C431 is quite the same but with the ability to be directly custom by carriers inside the rom
You'll usually see c431 on phones sell by orange isp across Europe.
There's also the way to add a custom patch by the carrier with the sim, that's come with additional little patches on top of the main rom (any rom cust/region numbers in that case).
Warning [emoji615]
This is just my guess
So it could be so wrong

Yes, you're perfectly right.
C431 is sold (in Romania especially) by carriers (Orange, Vodafone, Telekom, Digi) and retailers too. The one sold by carriers has an update of their own when you inserted their SIM (ex. If you bought an C431 from Vodafone and you insert an Vodafone SIM, you will get an update from them and you're firmware will get customized, so for the next firmware you'll have to wait for Vodafone to approve and be delivered. If you insert another carrier SIM, you're phone will remain with the untouched firmware and get updates as Huawei release it, in batches).
C432 version is rare arround here, i didn't see any of that on the phones i saw (friends, reviews, on-line resellers) but the only difference between C431 and C432 is the ammount of apps preinstalled that you'll get when updating.
Cheers,
SilviuO
The carrier 'extra' patch I talked is the one which could spread through the sim and, afaik, be with any cust/region/csc devices ; but you can avoid/postpone it (even if getting annoying reminders).
C432 usually are from 'regular' shop. (mediamark, fnac, saturn, amazon...).
C431 from carrier or affiliated ones, even if it correctly said not simlocked for most of them. Note (global idea): Western european 'law' which 'forbid' to sim lock phone or if locked have the obligation to freely unlocked it after a short period if requested by customer.
C432 is, as you said, the 'best' for getting quicker updates in Europe. Said quoted because it's not only that, depend your country, carrier, imei, huawei id...and sometimes luck
C431 is almost the same but could be managed directly by your carrier for specific parameters like network management ('standard is for dummy' they certainly think...and proud of themselves) or services (WiFi calling is a good exemple) and you can't avoid it. But they also have stronger commitment against huawei like they can't 'sleep on it'. If not huawei will push c431 without waiting, that's why c431 and C432 is almost the same.
Again [emoji615]
These are my only understanding/guesses while surfing around in forum, spec sheets, etc...
I have no clue and no will to argue if someone say its not true.
Just sharing my 'experiences'.
Conclusion :
If you're going to use the phone mainly in Europe, go chase for a c432.
And I will add, if no need from services stucked/moved to some specific bands like cdma in america/japan or special regulations in some asian countries, c432 will also be the better hardware cust version.

Yes, the carriers updates will come long time after Huawei release the update for your device IMEI. Tested with someone who has Orange branded firmware. I received OTA ~ 1 week after it was released on FF and his device received it 3 weeks later (that happend before using HSTool method, i was like on firmware v158 or v161, kinda ).
If you don't have career related firmware installed on your phone, that means that you receive straight from Huawei servers.

There is no version number or code to say though? Just the speed of the updates?
With Samsung you could tell via the CSC for example VOD = Vodafone, BTU = Unbranded/Unlocked straight from Samsung

Nope, there is no CSC code on Huawei or any other way to know. Before the P30 / P30 Pro, there was no C431 version, just C432 and the firmware was released / carrier branded as i described in my post reply, depending on the SIM / carrier or retailer from where you've bought your phone. Starting with P30 / P30 Pro versions, C431 was introduced as EEA firmware version (all the EU countries + Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway + Switzerland) beside C432 as EU firmware (includes al EU contries without Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway + Switzerland).
I get to those conclusions by checking the update info from the dload firmware inside Software folder (in those files you have all the info about the firmware updates -what security patches were applied, what errors have been resolved, for what carrier the firmware needs approval, etc-)
Anyway, regardless C431 is preffered by carriers and some retailers, you can always flash C432 or C10 firmwares over C431 without any problem, your cust will remain C431, but you'll install C432 firmware.
You can do that by dload method as i mentioned you or by HiSuite one (last one available for now only on EMUI 9.1 and maybe will work too on EMUI 10 but that we'll have to wait and see by mid November/early December when EMUI 10 will be out of beta and released globally).
Cheers,
SilviuO

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me.
Ive just bought this phone refurbished . Its arrived in immaculate condition, but the problem is I can not get it to update the firmware to EMUI 9.
I have contacted customer services at Huawei and they have said that I cant update the phone OTA as it has been a demonstrator phone, even though its unlocked and works OK.
They want me to send it off to the service centre.
What can I do to flash the phone to the latest EMUI 9.1 firmware for the UK?
I dont want to put EMUI 10 on as I want to use mirrorlink for my car.
Can this be done or is it better to send back to service centre?
Thanks for any help.

Try inserting the sim card. Enable 4g conection and wait 1 minute. Then try to find update with the phone. That was a solution for me.
Also, i think in this versión you can get easly the bootloader Code. If you update, It Will be so difficult to extract it.

If you unlock the bootloader, then you will be able to rebrand it to the European version (c432) and update it normally.

Hi, Thanks so much for the information.
Given I have not done this before, could you give me any advice on how to unlock the bootloader and then rebrand to the c432 version?
Im guessing that I can then update to emui 9.1 once the normal European version is on the phone.
Thanks again for any help
Huawei stopped giving BL unlock codes long time ago so it cannot be done currently, try talking with funkyhuawei to see if they can help.

You can use HCU/DC-Phoenix to get the unlock code (it should cost about 4-5 €). Then you could use HWOTA8 tool to rebrand it for free (you can find the tool here on XDA).
@paul1777 Did you manage to get this fixed as I have the same issue with a refurb mate 10 pro phone (amazon warehouse deal by any chance?) also c652 and huawei have been no help
