keep device active stop deep sleep - Tasker Tips & Tricks

i got a galaxy note in order to show my cameras as well as ring doorbell camera. the device is plugged in 75% of the time and i want it to never shut off. is there a way to program this in tasker? the screen can go black but i cannot have the screen not respond to notifications. basically if the device has been sitting for some time it will not run the tasker profile i have setup for the ring doorbell?

First, have you gone through the FAQ: Usage Problems, specifically the section labled "Why doesn't Tasker work in the background on my device"?

Perhaps Solution for BT suspend in WM 2005

I am trying screenguard at the moment to see if this works.
With this you can lock your buttons and blackout your screen while keeping the device active therefore the BT stays on.
Like with normal mobile phones.
I think this could be a solution until a real OS solution is found.
http://www.pocketmax.net/screenGuard.htm
Hope this helps.
But even if you have charged the phone at night, won't this eat the battery for lunch, if not for breakfast?
No, not a solution.
Battery died within 8 hours.
So still no solution.
I think MortSaver is a beter solution.
MortSaver is a combination of screensaver, keylock, and a "stay off!" function.
Screensaver: The display's turned off, but the PPC keeps running (e.g. for audio players). In spite to other tools, MortSaver turns off the dispay again if it's been switched on by e.g. an alert or the on/off button.
Keylock: All buttons (except the one necessary for deactivation, of course) are locked, as far as it's possible to me. A few programs sadly use some undocumented tricks, which allows them to get the button presses even if they're assigned to MortSaver in the system, or set themselfes as topmost window, by which the direction pad keys will be sent to this window. Disabling MortSaver can be done either with one button or a sequence of two buttons.
"Stay off!": PocketPCs are often switched on by themselves or accidentally - by alerts (appointments, SMS, ...) or accidental button presses in your pocket. In those cases, MortSaver can turn off the device again after a selectable timespan (so you recognize MortSaver's active and the device alive).
After power on or system-caused disabling of the screensaver, MortSaver shows a countdown until the screen or device (depending on settings, also see instructions), the button(s) to deactivate it, the time, battery level, a user definable text (e.g. owner infos), and on Phone Edition devices also signal strength and hints about missed calls and SMS.
MortSaver is Freeware.

Kaiser waking up on SMS - How to turn that off?

A problem I have is that when reciving a SMS the Kaiser wakes up (turning of the button lock). After this anything can happan in the pocket...
Any ways to let the Kaiser sleep right through a incoming SMS or MMS?
Here is what I use to ensure that my Kaiser is locked "On Device Wakeup"
I found it on XDA-Devs a while back. All credit goes to the author "Matt Armstrong".
Basically it adds a CPL Applet to the System Tab called Device Lock.
Check the option to "Lock on Wake"
I just set mine to lock after 5 mins anyway. Then even though a text wakes it, it simply goes to the pin screen so it cant ring anyone or the like.
Thats a device lock(?)
I just want my Kaiser to not wake up on incoming sms/mms.

The Device Lock doesn't stop your phone from waking, it simply locks the keys and dims the screen on wake. So in your pocket (or elsewhere) it will still notify you unless you are set to silent.
If you want to stop the wake up process have you turned off all notifications for SMS/MMS? I believe it is the notification that actually triggers the Wake-up not the actual receipt of the message.
thanks..this problem annoys me as well
Hi
The phone has to wake up (i.e. come out of standby) to accept the text message, so it may as well light up the screen and let you know about it.
Regards
Phil
So it isnt possible, in any way, to make the kaiser just notify incoming sms and keep on sleeping.
Thats pretty sad because the on/off switch is the best device lock on the market in my opinion.
I get the idea with the device lock on wake cab but it would be perfect to just lock/unlock with one simple keystroke.
*swenglish...*
I find it strange that the device doesnt wake up when an email comes in (on a outlook account), but it does wake up when an SMS comes in?
^ drives me nuts! lol
so in other words the only way to avoid this is the fact on turning off the text message notification all together?

How to turn on auto turn off during call

I checked the power settings(I set it off after 1 Min),but the phone display is on during calls. It's on for 6-7 mins, not turning off. What to do? Please rep ASAP
Just press the power button on the top of the phone, and it will turn the screen off. Well thats what i do any way. Try it out
Dont hold it for to long otherwise the phone will turn off, just give it a quick press!
Download XperiaTweak v2.0
Hi,
I have the exactly opposite problem. I have installed XperiaTweak (current version) and enabled the option "Disable Screen Turning Off during calls", but it's still turning off after a minute (like the normal standby settings...).
Do you know the registry key etc. for that feature so that I can check the settings?
regards
Nils
Whats most retarded is why we can't have what the iPhone ALREADY does...
the Xperia X1 has a front facing (near your ear) light sensor. It should turn the screen off when it is next to your ear, and turn it on when you move it away from your ear... JUST LIKE HOW THE iPHONE DOES IT.
I mean, something this simple... why hasn't it been implemented?
Think about it. Why put the light sensor near the ear then? When not put it on the side or something? because obviously someone thought that, well, when the phone is near the ear, it will go from light to immediate darkness, and when moved away, dark to light.
Why cant we have somethign this simple? Or anyone know of a workaround or third party app?

The X1 as you probably know has no light sensor or accelerometer, so there is no way to interpret when the phone is at your ear or otherwise.
FingAZ.

Actually, it does have a light sensor. What else do you think automatically adjusts the screen's brightness? This really is an ingenious idea, can someone cook up an app that runs in the background to do this?
I want to have light during call all time I tray Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3 and did not find nathing no option on battery display or call thet will keep my back linght on durring call some idea?
And the touch pro 2 does have the feature to turn off screen when you put it to your ear. Devs?
I hate how when I'm on skype on the phone and the screen dims, cutting off my wifi.

Use Advance Configuration Tools to fix this by enabling Wifi during standby.

[Q] Silent mode failed

So I was at a meeting today and had my Captivate in a silent mode (I am always very thorough about that) with vibration turned ON. And then that F-ing thing rings on an incoming call right in the middle of the F-ing meeting. I reject the call, but the damage is already done.
The worst thing is that I clearly observe a "silent mode" icon in the statusbar. I've been playing with the phone for hours now, not being able to reproduce the situation. I have etiquette app installed (http://android.popmonkey.com/etiquette/) which restores the device from the silent/flight mode after certain time-out, but it was not the time yet. Reading here and there made me think that TasKiller (which I also have installed) could have killed the process and the volume would be restored. I tried that -- no, killing Etiquette does not affect the silent mode. So why the F did that thing ring???
Did anybody else observed such behaviour? This is very important because now I cannot trust my phone with this unless it is totally powered off, and I hardly will be able to handle an embarrassment like this once again.
ok. It has happened again. And because I desperately rush to turn off the phone when it happens, everything is reset and I cannot reproduce the situation. Did anybody else run into problem like that?

Disabling standby/sleep entirely for Tasker AutoRemote

Short version:
Is there a way, with or without root, to completely disable standby/sleep mode on an Android tablet?
Long version:
I have a Pixel C tablet (running Android 7.1). I've written a set of Tasker profiles and tasks that wait for IFTTT Maker messages via AutoRemote and then act on them. I've got these profiles and tasks running on the Pixel C tablet, and am invoking various IFTTT activities from my and my wife's phones. Basically, the Pixel C tablet is acting as a home automation server that's commanded by IFTTT via AutoRemote.
I've noticed that it works well (~5 second delay) when the tablet screen is on. That delay is the time it takes to go out to IFTTT and back, and is acceptable. But when screen is off, it can take a long time to respond to the IFTTT commands (sometimes a minute or more). I know it's not the Internet itself, because when I unlook it's screen, I'll sometimes see a bunch of toast AutoRemote toast messages show up from a while ago that I sent while it's screen was off. I'm assuming this has to do with the tablet's standby/sleep mode. I've set both Tasker and AutoRemote to not do battery optimization, which I thought would keep those processes from dozing off. But that didn't fix things.
If needed, I'd be willing to have the tablet never go into any type of standby mode, even if that required root. I don't use the tablet much for other purposes, it's usually just plugged in sitting on a desk. Does anyone know of a way to fully disable sleep mode like that, or at least prevent all processes related to Tasker/AutoRemote/incoming IFTTT messages from sleeping?
Thanks,
Joe
