I have a rooted Nokia 8 with December patch, and every keymapper that I tried using freezes my device after starting, to the point that I either reboot it or it reboots itself. It seems to be something related to "drawing on top of other apps", since it doesn't happen with anything else.
I've tried several different apps, like tincore, gkm touch and gamekeyboard.
Also tried octopus which doesn't need root but it says something about the game being 64 or 32 bits and won't work...
Some of the keymappers freezes my device right after starting, some only when I try to actually use it (tincore opens, but as soon as I tap to display it my device starts to slow down)
Are there any ideas or other apps that I could try?
Thanks!
I'm using Button Mapper, free version, no root. But only to switch the capacitive buttons, I'm used to have back button on the right, more convenient for me this way. Works fine, no problems at all.

Hello,
I was wondering if there is some way to track what is happening on my phone? Since my screen stops working when waked up from standby. i.e. if i press the button at the top to standby and then when i press it again and reach the lock screen the touchscreen is not working, it is simply not registering touch and neither are the 4 small buttons on the bottom (back, settings, home, search). However, the OS in itself is still running as I think since I can still see the time move and if I hold the off button the menu comes up for reboot etc.
Anyone heard of anything like this or any tips how to solve this? I am rooted and running CM6 I think at the moment.
Thank you,
Svarto

so the only way to escape this is by pulling the battery and rebooting? when you do reboot and dont go in standby, the touchscreen works fine?
You can check the issue using logcat and /proc/kmsg.
Also, you can read my threads on the subject, describing the same error with logs, and see if your logs are the same.
I'm currently trying to check if the error repeats itself after full wipe and starting from scratch. In the meantime it didn't show up until I applied a theme, and then after reflashing the ROM it's gone again - I'm still checking, only a day has passed.
Yes, the only solution is to pull out the battery and reboot. Then it works fine and I can go in and out of standby. I havent found a particular pattern to it happening so it is hard to reproduce.
I will have a look at that logcat and your other thread!
Just to guide you - when it happens to me, the phone gets stuck with mmc0 access that receives "CRC error" reply and doesn't go through. Pressing power button for a long time several times and playing with trackball / touching the screen between presses "releases" the "lock", and you'll be able to work with the phone again until you put it to sleep again. If you turn WiFi and BT off and then back on - the problem seems to disappear.
I decided to try and upgrade my galaxy tab 1010 to Gingerbread in the hopes that it would fix a problem which is that whenever I click on the power button to open my tablet (not to turn it on but just to resume from sleep or whatever), the screen lights up black and the bottom lights are on but it takes countless retries to get the thing to actually appear or it just stays black. Even a restart is not enough at times. This is causing me problems with updating because to make a CWM backup for example, it has to boot into the menu which I can no longer see after it shuts off. Sometimes it works fine, other times I give up trying to get the main screen to show up. I can click on the buttons at the bottom and get the vibration feedback and can also hear the audio going up/down when I click the volume buttons but often the screen will stay black.
The 2nd problem is that although I have Kies installed, every time I connect my device to my laptop (Windows 7), the laptop will install drivers for it separately. This is a problem because in Odin for example when I try to flash CWM on to there, after I've flashed it, it will turn off in order to reboot meaning that it disconnects from the laptop and when it boots back up, the laptop does not recognize. So to fix that 2nd problem, I need a way to install drivers on there so that my laptop always recognizes it rather than installing every time.
Thanks for any help....the black screen thing is really frustrating me and I've done some searches where others have black screen problems but their are usually different and the device won't come on at all in those cases rather than come on sometimes and not come on other times unless I try several times.
Good news is that I managed to upgrade to gingerbread with the root and it was working...Odin did the trick though still can't get anything going on Superoneclick on my Galaxy Player because it's not recognized when in USB debugging mode. Upgrading did fix the problem of the screen not coming on and staying black.
Bad news....installed bloatware removal tool, removed a few apps which I was sure were non-essentials (Samsung movie guide, visit Britain, couple more like that)....and it seems to have hard bricked. I found this tutorial on hard-unbricking but it's for the p1000, dunno if it would apply to the p1010: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312391
So gonna either try that or since this thing isn't under warranty anymore, I have to find somewhere in Mississauga Canada which will do a hard unbrick on this.
So starting today, after no changes being made. My apps won't open. I click on them and they bounce like I'm clicking on it but nothing happens. I did a full factory restore, they seem to work randomly then they stop working again until I reboot. After a few minutes, this happens again. The app menu button seems to work completely fine. It will bring up my app menu but the apps won't load. Sometimes when I click on them like 30 times they will finally open but other than this they won't. Also the home screen apps are having the same behavior. It seems like software but I don't know how it could be software related if I did a factory restore and it didn't help. Also when I hold the app button down like you would do to relocate it on the home screen, it acts like there is nothing there and opens up the menu that would come up if I held down on a black area of the screen to change the wallpaper or something. This is pretty terrible. Help? Thanks.
Update software then, Repair My phone with the Sony Update Service.
Hey,
so as the title says, the touch screen of my KFHD7 doens´t work anymore. Further, the buttons on the side refuse to work either. When plugged in via usb, my pc recognizes the kindle and i am able to view the files on it. The screen also gets bright and i see the function to unlock the kindle, which is infact impossible without touch
But lets start from the beginning:
I installed an app called "droidmote" (a remote between two androids). This app wanted me to install "busybox" as well to function correctly. after installing busybox, the app worked some time and then i rebooted my KFHD. After this reboot, i had some kind of mouse cursor on the screen. the standard touch functions refused to work. instead, i had to move this cursor (a little cirlce, not an arrow) and press the screen. When i used more fingers "multitouch" it also showed several of this cirlcles...it was really weird. After some reboots, things became even worse: If i moved my finger to the left, the circle moved to the top... if i moved my finger to the right, the circle went down...it was really annoying. After giving up, i tried a factory reset.
After booting up again, the KFHD asked me which launcher it should use? How could that be? i thought a factory reset would wipe all the data and of course my root and 3rd party launchers? how ever, i was not able to chose any launcher because the touch screen refuses totally...To make things even worse...during the pain of navigating with this circles an changed directions i think i deactivated the adb feature
So...has anybody an idea of what i could do? Thank you!

If the launcher was written into system data, then it would remain. After all, factory reset only reverts back to system data, and if the launcher is there, it will stay there.
I had a problem like that once, and I reset it also. Turned out I was plugged into a charger. Some chargers, due to voltage, will cause the touch screen to behave weirdly. Just unplug, and it will work fine again.
If this is your case, unplug the charger. Otherwise, I've got no clue. You're rooted right? Use the KFHD Sysem Restore tool. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254

Is there anyway to test the hardware on the G925A?
My phone is encrypted, running ATT Stock 5.1.1. I've done a factory restore and restart every couple of days. After the OTA update to 5.1.1, a box pops up saying android is starting apps every time I cold/warm boot the phone and it takes longer than I remember to boot now. There are times when it just wont open some apps or the app will open and immediately close, without an error message. It doesn't respond to swipes to unlock at times. Sometimes I hit the home button to wake it up and the screen will turn on and immediately off again. Same thing happens when I wake it using the power button.
I can't help but to think that the issue is hardware related.
Thanks in advance
