Unlock bootloader again! - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I need advise. Bought mi8 from banggood with unlocked bootloader, but want to unlock again from my account, just in case of brick.
Is there a way to send request for unlock while bootloader is unlocked? If I install china rom and relock bootloader, root will disappear and my national language won't be set up.
The problem is because we have to wait a month for unlock permission...

I think, you don't need to relock bootloader. If you want to unlock again (with your account), you will wait 1 month for permission from Xiaomi.

Your warranty will be lost with or without Huawei ID

Sure but what Huawei does'nt know..
And you could lock the Bootloader in case of a warranty defect...
As far as I know when you requested the bootloader unlock code - there is no way to return...
Well, requesting the code doesn't mean that you actually applied it. So if you send in your phone with a locked bootloader for repair, you should be fine.
Yea coming from LG G4 and we had to request an unlock.bin from them to flash. Requesting the unlock won't void warranty, I'm guessing it is the same as LG where it will have a "Bootloader Unlocked" message on splash screen once unlock.bin is applied.
To those of you who have unlocked, is this the case, and I have read somewhere you can relock bootloader too. Does this then have a "bootloader relocked" message or anything? Or is it if it is locked you can't tell it was ever unlocked?

Yes, I successfully relocked and do not receive any warnings during boot. I don't know about Huaweis, but Sony Xperias that had been unlocked and relocked have a modified TA partition and can therefore be identified.
Ok would be nice if anyone can confirm that it is possible to relock the bootloader in case of warranty ?
Thanks guys!
Is there anyway too unlock de bootloader now that huawei stop giving the code??

Global to Chinese ROM to lock Bootloader

Hello XDA users!
I've bough this wonderful MI8 from AliExpress.
It's a Chinese Market device, It arrived with global ROM and unlocked bootloader.
Since i want to use Google pay and other prohibited apps with the bootloader unlocked i am trying to clearly understand if flashing the Chinese official ROM and locking the bootloader again is a feasible thing or there are some risks? Will the phone be bricked? Will it not? Wich one is the best tool to do it? Where can i find the official Chinese rom?
Thank you!
you need to think twice. if you succeeded locking bootloader. xiaomi maybe not allowing you to unlock it again and ask for binded account
can't you try a safer way by xposed or magisk to hide root, unlocking and trick your apps?
I don't own this device so I can't help you alot
I'm now waiting to my Mi 8 arrives from China and I have the same question. Looking for the answer I found this:
h***s://w**igeekphone.com/xiaomi-mi-8-what-to-do-if-you-receive-it-with-unlocked-bootloader-and-global-miui/
If someone try, please say if works, thanks in advance

if you read the link: h***s://w**igeekphone.com/xiaomi-mi-8-what-to-do-if-you-receive-it-with-unlocked-bootloader-and-global-miui/
say: "ATTENSION !!! You must NOT lock your bootloader with stable version or it will brick your mobile! ONLY Chinese Developers Fastboot ROM."
and the seller tell me this:
"If you lock the bootloader, then must lock it with china rom.
If you lock it when there is global rom , it will brick .
If you need android pay , then better install rom from xiaomi.eu"
maybe with china dev fastboot rom don't brick the phone???
I install the china dev rom (IMPORTANT NOT the china stable rom) and lock the bootloader. The seller give me the password of the account vinculated to the phone and put it when I start the phone then I desvinculated the phone from the seller's account and put my account. Now I'm waiting 720h to unlock and install the last global rom (only "clean" not "clean and lock".
IT'S AT YOUR OWN RISK I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS BECAUSE YOU CAN BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!! IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING DON'T DO IT!!!

1. No, you will not void warranty
2. When you unlock bootloader you will have message on your screen, after you lock it again, there is no message, everything is like stock.
3. fastboot oem unlock and fastboot flashing unlock_critical those two commands are enough
If you have xiaomi phone with miui, than you need to wait for unlock approval, around 72 hours, maybe less maybe more, it depends... When you have android one device, you do not need to wait, you can unlock your phone instantly.

Received new MI 9 with unlocked bootloader

Hi all.
Just got the transparent edition and it arrived with unlocked bootloader. Already done a ota from 10.2.15 to 10.2.17.
What concerns do I have with this? Obviously I cant relock bootloader and don't really want it locked anyway. Will it be tied to someone else's account because the bootloader was unlocked? What can I flash what can't I flash? Should I return it?
Just want to make sure before I brick a thousand dollar phone.
Cheers

When unlocked, a phone is usually linked to a Miui account.
- If you're in Europe, we got DRM Widevine L1. Unlocking + Flashing could give you WIdevine L3. Remember : Unless you're in Europe, Widevine IS L3 !!
If you're outside Europe, check the LTE/4G bands. They're usually the same, but like the DRM, you can't really "flash" 4G/LTE from a chinese phone to an african, russian phone for example...
When done, try wiping the phone and getting it locked to your phone number in Miui.
That's what i'm saying. Someone else has unlocked it and I just received it yesterday.. That is one of my concerns if I flash it with mi tool will it need someone else's password or mine even though it was set up with my mi account.
The device is tied to my mi account done that on setup . So that's what I'm asking because i never unlocked the bootloader though and someone else did what will happen if I reflash with mi tool. I think it would want my password but I'm just making sure before I do anything.
Cheers

Question System has been destroyed & bootloader locked because of DSU Loader installing

Hi Guys
Need your assistance, its a complete mess here.
I found android 14 pre releases in developer options -> DSU Loader -> Installed GSM+ARM64. Thought it will install android 14 pre release (Saw in one of youtube video -
).
Post restart phone it went to system has been destoryed.
1. OEM unlock option was not checked (Bootloader locked)
2. Only booting in fastboot mode.
3. Flashing through EDL/ Flash Auth not working.
I can only think of unlocking bootloader may fix this issue but problem is bootloader is locked. Can't unlock it because oem unlock is not enabled under developer options.
Please help me bypass OEM unlock check so that I can unlock bootloader & probably flashing TWRP or Orange recovery will fix the problem
Thank you
This tutorial is for those who have the bootloader unlocked (see the video at 3 minutes 38, the padlock is open).
What did you want to do?
The phone is bricked, nothing to do with the locked bootloader, see a Xiaomi repair center.
Hi
I missed that it is for unlocked bootloader.
So if bootloader is locked, it should not update the partitions & if so it should roll back to original miui if it fails.
But instead it bricked my phone.
So if someone can help me unlock bootloader I can try flashing recovery & then rom.
Or suggest better option. service center people asked to replace motherboard.
hi!
If there is any way to fix it, unfortunately it is paid.

It is imperative to unlock the bootloader with a xiaomi account where unlocking is authorized and associated with your smartphone. Without it, not worth it...
So unlock the bootloader and apply one of those countless FAQs that you'll find on XDA or youtube.
For me, settled in an hour.
Good luck,
