Hi,
The people I talk too on Google duo or Whatsapp experience a very annoying "echo" of some sort. It's actually so loud that it makes normal conversations without earphones (on my end) impossible. I'm guessing it comes from one of the microphones being to close to the speaker or too sensitive...
Do you have that same bug ? Has anyone found a fix ?
Thanks in advance.
Had this annoying problem too. I deactivated voice match and ok Google detection. That solved my echo problems.
Hope it helps, cheers
Thanks, just tried it then rebooted and no go... Still that horrific echo ?

I lower my volume to 60%, and there is tremendous improvement in echo.
Yep I guess playing with the volume is the only thing to reduce the problem to an acceptable level. Thanks !

Hey everyone,
I have the problem that the call-volume is very low. I've already tried different settings, but there is not really any help.
Does anyone have the same issues? When I'm in a silent ambient, it is okay, but e.g. in the train it is really hard for me to understand the other person.
And no - my ears are not THAT bad
Haven't really noticed an issue with mine, although not usually calling from anywhere that is too noisy.
yes i have that prob.setting the qualiser to bright and disabling speaker voice enhancement improves it a little. but still the call volume is low.
Yes i also feel its bit low... but not very low!
For me it's good enough!
When I have a call in quiet place or a noisy place like in the city or a cafe or something, I understand everything good
i have that problem tooooo.in fact i fight with my gf every time cuz i cant hear what she say ,any advice to fix this problem?can i change some setting and fix this?
It's not that bad! Try using the earphones

:silly: using an earphone is not a solution.. can someone tell if this issue can be resolved using some mod/software?

Did this solution work for anyone? I am not seeing much difference, please help me if there is any third party application which can be used to boost the volume.
I've wanted to find out if there's a way for some time!
I connect to my car via aux cable for hands free.
But when I get a call I have to increase volume 7 or 8 steps for me to hear.
And then when the call finishes, I get deafened from when the radio kicks back in!
Hey there,
i have a problem since i got my One (april) but it seems to geeting worse. If i am on the phone its sometimes really hard to unterstand my partner because the speaker is so quite. I do not mean handsfree phoning, its just the internal speaker. It happens with all kinds of roms (rooted
+ s-off). Whats interesting, is that if the call is quite, and i go for handsfree it es quite as well, so i thinking about a software issue.
If i listen to musik the speaker is fine.
What could i do to search for the problem ? My phone is on the first hboot and running android 4.4 android revolution 41.0
any tips for me ?
thanks!

well their are a couple of other things .. there's a tiny mic on the backside of the phone that tells the phone your in a loud environment and to raise and lower in call volume, theirs a tweak to override it somewhere here on the forums .. I'll look for that. EDIT Found it >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2406524
The other thing is the actual speaker grill can get plugged up with debris have you tried cleaning those tiny holes ?

applied the mod. did not help as well.
I think theres really some sort of HW issue, because of all the different roms i used to use there was no changes.
maybe there is some sort of mini speaker in there with a problem, or a amplifier problem

Searched a lot but did not find any help, anyone else has face this issue and come with a solution. Help me regarding this issue.
Your exact same question has been asked several times. I can't image you searched allot...
Even a Google search gives you the answer straight away: https://www.google.com/webhp?source...&ie=UTF-8#q=xperia+sp+low+volume+cm11&spell=1
I have looked in that thread but its not working for me.. thats why i posted it here
I presume you're on locked bootloader then?

Download the latest CM11 release.
You're most likely still on an old version which had an experimental fix for the rear mic bug.
This is what's causing the echo. For now the rear mic has been disabled. (Only needed for filming videos, so not a big deal for most people)

Then use the fix I have already presented in numerous other threads... Install Williams kernel for CM (v3.0 was the most stable one) and use Fauxsound to boost your volume. IT WORKS.
Hey there, I have had my z3 compact about 3-4 weeks now and am loving it, however it was only recently that I have used it for a call or two. I have noticed a slight delay/ echo from my end (when i talk, i hear my voice a second later), any idea why/how to solve this?
p.s. I have also realised that that turning down the volume reduces the volume of the echo, figured i'd put that out there in case its related.
Many thanks!!!

I also get a muffled / echoed sound of the other party when on a call on the z3 compact and did realise that it reduces on lowering the volume. Was wondering if it was just me...
The Z3C sound get muffled because of its water proofing and the echo is probably from the other party phone being put on speaker, especial with iPhone which has the mic built near the speaker that can cause feedback.

Its mainly the muffled sound for me on higher volume, and the other party was neither on speaker nor it was an iPhone...
I think I may have solved the issue, but not 100% sure yet after only having made one call to test. But try this guys, go to 'settings' and then 'call', and deselect the 'speaker voice enhancement' option? I hear that there is a bug which causes the phone to echo when this is selected, but like i said not totally sure if it is fixed yet, but it seemed to have done the trick for me so far. Tell me how it goes!
solution for echo sound for other person on loudspeaker
I had the same problem till I solved the problem.
I've tried everything like downgrade to 4.4, changing microphone setting, repairing with sony pc companion. Nothing solved the problem so dont do that things.
Here is the solution.
Go to setting then call. Turn off microphone noise suspension and speaker enhance and slow talk.
Then restart your phone.after 5 minutes do the factory reset with delete everything option. I mean tick the option which delete your internal memory.
After that your phone is ok but dont chang any options in call setting. Don't turn off or on any setting in there like microphone noise or speaker enhance or slow talk.
Leave those options what it is.
Your phone is fine again
Hello everyone,
First of all, I would honestly like to praise how good the Z3 Compact looks, feels, and performs. I got it 2 days ago (from a non-Sony supplier), and I don't regret investing in it.
I have a problem, though, and it's the only one on this device - the microphone during calls. There's this echo that the other party hears when calling me, and on top of that, my microphone's quality is not the best.
Since it's new, I don't want to open it up and see what's wrong with it, but my guess is that both microphones (the second belonging to the camera) are on during calls and that's what makes the echo - the other party's voice is heard via the second mic and it gets sent back to them with a small delay.
Is there a software-related solution to this? I'm running the latest SliMM (6.0.1) with an unlocked bootloader. Thanks in advance for all your help!
Its most likely just a software problem, try fiddling with the Call Settings in Settings and see if anything there helps alleviate the problem if not, try using another Audio Engine ( e.g Beats Audio, Viper ) and see if that helps.
Also check if its a signal related problem, slurred speach and cut audio are signs of low/poor cell signal. Good luck

Thanks! I will definitely mettle with audio mods, but as far as Call Settings go, I've already disabled the "Mic noise suppression" feature, which makes a difference, but the echo is still present.
The bug is still present, by the way. Should I find an actual fix for it, I will update this post.
Sent from my D5803 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Update: It has nothing to do with the Android version nor the ROM...the microphone picks up whatever the speaker plays during a phone call.

I had similar issue. I disabled 'Microphone Noise Suppression' in call settings and it helped. Give it a try.

I have already done that, a long time ago, but it doesn't help. It does make my own voice sound more clear, if anything.
EDIT: I seem to have found the cause of this problem, and more on that can be found here. The thing is, the Google App and the "OK Google" feature are active in the background at all times, which might be what causes both microphones to always remain on. So what's the solution? Get rid of the Google App - freeze it, delete it with Link2SD, whatever.
I will definitely keep checking if that truly is the solution, and I'll definitely ask the mods to close this post, once everything's clear.
