I was given an old Kindle Fire HD 7" 3rd Generation KFSOWI - Soho completely stock and was playing with it a bit and decided to try the KingRoot app (NOT KingORoot). It was going along and got to 35% then said it failed and asked if I wanted to try again. I clicked try again. Thats when everything went downhill. It rebooted on its own then displayed the all white Kindle Fire logo then moved to the brighter white and orange logo with the glimmer moving across the screen. There it stays now. It wont go any further.
I have tried to use Vol - and PWR with it turned off to try to get to Recovery or Vol + and PWR for Fastboot but after the all white logo it just shuts off. Its as if the recovery utility is no longer there.
I do have a Fastboot/Factory cable I made a while ago and when I plug that in it does get to Fastboot mode. However in ADB on my desktop it wont see it there. If I plug in a standard USB cable to the Kindle and let it go to the white n orange logo then ADB will see it and brings up the Serial number but instead of saying "device" it says "unauthorized".
I am seriously at a loss right now as I have been googling to to fix this since it happened and all the ready made utilities are for other generation devices.
I have tried the usual holding the power button for 60 seconds to turn it off and then try turning it back on but nothing works.
Im just not sure what can be done with I cant get to recovery and ADB either wont see it or says its unauthorized.
PLEASE HELP!

Classic FireOS boot hang. Tough to fix on older (pre 5th gen) devices that do not offer a way to reload FireOS from stock recovery.
Unfortunately, this is not the correct forum for your device (this thread is for 5th & 7th gen Fire 7). You'll want to repost your question here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hd

Hello,
I've had my Kindle Fire HD 7" rooted for awhile now and I decided to add in a second bootloader. It wasn't flashing properly; so with a bit of lurking on the forums I saw a application specifically for my device. It was called FireFlash. This application got me stuck in fastboot mode and suddenly died. I heard about factory cables and I purchased one. - I now have a $200 dollar paperweight sitting on my desk. I've tried researching and everything I do with ADB I get:
< waiting for device >

I'm very new to the Android scene. I'm more of a iOS guy than anything.
Thanks again if one of you people can get me on the right road to success. I believe I knew what caused this and that was upgrading TWRP. I upgraded TWRP because i was unable to install a ROM which made me in a fastboot loop. Now I'm just a paperweight.
When you say the device doesn't turn on, do you mean it won't boot or do you mean it won't power on at all?

I have no power whatsoever. Holding down the power button for thirty seconds didn't work, nor did charging it.
Hi everyone!
This is my first XDA post. I need help with my Kindle fire HD 7'
I Soft bricked it while trying to root it. What is happening is that i can turn it on, but only the Kindle Fire logo comes up,
the after about 5 second, the logo goes away for a split second and then comes back but this time with the "Fire" part of the logo in cyan.
After this point it just stays in this position basically forever until you hold the power button. I have the factory wire for a fastboot, but the issue is that my PC wont recognize my kindle fire whatsoever. I know I have the correct drivers installed, but no matter what i do my PC wont recognize my
Kindle.
Please Help!!
Tl;dr 1) My Kindle Fire HD 7' is semi bricked
2) I can put it in boot camp mode due to the factory wire
3) No matter what I tried My PC wont recognize the device

Ummm... if you were trying to root the device, how in the world did you install the 2nd bootloader? And as for the driver issues, try using Ubuntu instead of Windows. It WILL recognize the device. @stunts513 please see if you can help this fellow out.
Ah thanks for the mention, I'm less active now that I got a job but since I'm off on weekends I try to keep up with posts at that time. Anyways if it turns blue then try holding volume down when you initially see the orange logo and just keep holding it even after it turns blue and see if it will go into twrp.

Hello all,
Total beginner here, my KFHD 7 inch just stopped working suddenly, I called Amazon who said I was out of warranty (13 months old) and 'kindly' offered to sell me another one lol. have never made any modifications to it so don't why it happens..turns on and just stays at the static kindle fire logo. I downloaded:
KFHD_SRT_v1.3.5- 7.3.0 (seperate option for restoring factory recovery)
I used the factory cable and it goes into fastboot, and then ran the SR tool, I chose option 1 to restore to standard, process seems to go fine... upon rebooting with the normal cable I get a black screen, windows detects a device and then starts looking for a driver for OMAP 440 which it doesn't find, then I can't turn the kindle on.
If I then hold the power button down then press it, it turns on again and is back to the stuck logo like nothing happened...
Tried this process a few times now..
Can anyone help?
Thanks a lot.
Does your Kindle have the front camera and hdmi out?
If by front camera you mean on the screen side, yes the camera is front facing, Don't know about HDMI out never tried to output anything..But .I know it's the 1st generation Kindle Fire HD, so I guess it does?
I would go back into fastboot and flash system, boot, and recovery.
Hello,
I hope someone can help me resolve the issue i face with my kindle fire hd 7
The device was not rooted, and no parental password was set. The only protection was set is screen pin
The device was unused for several months, so the battery got completely discharged. Now I charged the device and booted it. And all I get is a big lock on the screen, a line where i can put the code, and it says "Enter your boot password", and the keyboard below it.
Needless to say I do not have a boot password. I tried resolving the issue following Amazon instructions to get to factory reset by entering the code 5 times, but i do not get a factory reset prompt.
Tried to get into factory reset boot by pressing Volume Down and Power buttons, it did not work at first. But at the end I got a screen with an triangle and exclamation mark in it, and a message saying the device is unable to boot. There were two options: Reboot device, and reset to factory settings. I selected the reset to factory settings, and the device gave me a second screen with bunch of No and one Yes
I selected Yes, and pressed Power button. So the device was rebooting with a message KindleFire and a line under it for about 5 minutes, and at the end it went back to the huge Lock screen with the prompt to enter boot password.
Amazon support were completely helpless. I spoke with 3 tech people there, neither know what to do. They keeps saying Kindle does not have boot password. So I am quite lost here and will appreciate any help
Thanks
I spoke with Amazon again, now they are claiming my Kindle is rooted, and that it is asking for boot password because a different BIOS was installed. I don't see how it is possible, there were only a few books on that kindle and it was not even connected to the network. I get the feeling Amazon has no clue what is going on and just want to get rid of me and my pesky issue.
I'd like to entertain the possibility of the device being rooted. Is it possible to overload a default Kindle version somehow?
In order for your device to work, you must perform a factory reset from recovery mode. It is a little bit tricky, but it will work. So, let's get started:
In order to get into recovery mode, you need to do the following keys combinations:
Push Power button + volume down key until you see the kindle logo. As soon as it appears, take your hand of the power butoon and quickly push twice the volume down button. After that, hold the volume down button pushed and your device will boot in recovery mode. Please take notice, that you need to do these steps fairly quickly in order for it to work. Then you need to select factory reset and yes. That's all.
Didn't work for me, still asking for boot password.
XT1585
any luck?
has anyone managed to fix this issue as i have a kindle fire 7 hd 2013 soho with the same issue, have a fastboot cable but havent had any joy fixing it, have tried firerooter and a few other commands.
Once your kindle fire gets the Enter Boot Password, it is toast. You have a brick on your hands. Amazon support cannot help you, and a factory reset does not work. It's an internal flaw or error, and sadly, Amazon does not address this publicly. If your Kindle fire is not under warranty, the best they can offer is a discount (and not a very deep one) on your next kindle.
i have a Kindle Fire 7 HD that is trash now because it is asking for the Boot Password and of course Amazon is saying too bad...i am trying to find the notebook app i had on it to see if i can recover it on my other android tablet....does anyone know the name of the notebook app that was in this kindle fire 7 hd?
Got red screen after bad flash dont know exactly what happened so used factory cable to recover my kindle fire hd 7" from the red screen?
Plugged in cable connected to pc and kindle screen displayed fastboot..all well so far..
Then I used this programme KFFirstAide and used
option 3. Completly Restore the KFHD 7 7.2.3 (Fastboot)
pressed return on pc then programme started then said rebooting kindle, kindle screen went black (no fastboot logo anymore) and it stayed black left it for ages and it did not come on again, eventually I removed kindle fire hd 7 from pc and tried to switch on but nothing happened I tried to connect it to pc again with fastboot cable and nothing happened pc did not recognise it,tried the same with cable that came with kindle and nothing happened. Have tried with no cables connected and nothing. have tried holding power button for 20 seconds then push power button again for 2 seconds but nothing happens still black screen
Is there any way to fix this now? anything inside unit I can try?
