Does anyone know of a mod where my phone auto tries the password after I put all the digits required into the pin instead of having to press the check after you put your pin in? Saves an extra button press of the check.
This option is there in multiple Custom ROMs I've used, such as the one I'm using right now, Havoc OS 2.1.
There's a feature called "Quick Unlock" under Lockscreen Customization, which enables the phone to be unlocked as soon as the PIN is entered, without the need to confirm it. I don't think this feature is available on Stock OOS.

Yes I am on CM6 where are these settings? I been all over but can't find them.
Edit: Found the lock out time, what I like is to avoid the time it takes once locked to ask for password.
I am looking for this as well.
CM Settings > User Interface > Screen Timout Delay
"How long to delay before enabling screen lock when screen times out"
.......
Alternatively you can use the Power Controls widget and choose the "Screen lock" to do it manually.

I think we may be talking about two different things.
I have a pin lock set up. After the screen turns off its quite a pain to type in a 7 digit number each time. I'm looking for a way to continue to keep the slide to unlock screen when the screen turns off, but to delay the actual pin/pattern lock for x amount of minutes

The slide to unlock and pin are joined at the hip. You can't have one without the other. (this was stated by android team member and it will not be changing anytime soon as it's a security issue).
If you use the settings I pointed to you can delay the lock combo altogether for X amount of time. Use the top for when the screen turns off by itself, and the bottom one for when you manually press the power button to turn the screen off.
(I know this because I use a pin code as well, and I just tested it)
I supposed you could pester someone over at CM and they'll look into decoupling it.
You can download an app from the market to disable/enter your password for you if you dont like having to enter it everytime you wake the phone. I personally use an app called Lockpicker so i dont have to type in my exchange email password everytime I wake my phone. Just a suggestion.

I like your suggestion, because our Draconian IT policies force us to use a password after wake always. I will look for the app now.
Thanks a lot.
Edit: this doesn't work with Froyo. Bummer.

I see. I tried what you suggested and it is what i was looking for. I just have a habit of turning off the screen with the power button and never configured the second setting. Thanks for pointing that out!
I have password protected the phone with numbers instead of pattern. I have to press the numbers and then press go to unlock the phone. Is there a way to unlock the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 just like apple phones or windows phones by just typing the numbers. I do not want to press the go after the 4 digit number.

That's one of the annoyances I had to get used to when I switched from the iPhone. I would type my PIN and space out waiting for my home screen to pop up. You get used to it though.
If you're rooted, you can use Wanam Exposed and under Lockscreen there is an option for Enable quick PIN unlock, that will get rid of the need for hitting go after the pin.
From what I've read, there's no solution, but I won't accept it until I read it on XDA.
Pressing the power button when using pattern lock does not bring up the pattern lock screen. Instead there's a stupid swipe screen first.
Has a way been found to disable that swipe screen & go straight to the pattern lock screen?
I remember this first appeared with the Marshmallow update with my Note 5. Lots of people complained about it, don't think a fix was found. I just lived with it & now I'm used to it. In fact I totally forgot about it until reading your post.
OK. Let's try another approach.
While looking into this I learned that setting security to "None" works. Tried it, & it does seem to.
I need a lock, though. Sooo...what about using a third party swipe lock? Do any support Trusted Devices?
I have mine set up as swipe to unlock with a password, no pin, no pattern. I also use fingerprint and iris to unlock. Most of the time I also have a trusted device (Gear S2 watch) connected that prevents my phone from asking for the password. There is also a setting for unlocking with the home button instead of pressing the power button. Go to Settings: Display: Navigation bar: Unlock with home button. So for me, with my watch connected, I just hard press where the home button is on the screen and I'm unlocked, no swiping! You can use this with or without AOD.
LOL, I guess I'm having trouble even accepting a non solution from XDA.
Bumping for more ideas/solutions.
Can I maybe disable it with BK Disabler (if so, I haven't found a way).

The answer is in the post right above yours. Go to settings>display>navigation bar and turn on "Unlock with Home Button".
I get what that says, however, I use the LED cover. When opening the cover it powers on the phone. I want to open & unlock...not open, swipe, & unlock...not open, press, unlock.
Basically, the only way I've found to disable the swipe screen is to disable security completely. I want the lock, though.
Method on my Note 8, Android 7.1.1
Settings, Navigation Bar, set Unlock with Home button to on. After that if you hold the home button it will skip the swipe to unlock screen. For me it takes me to my pin screen directly.

I prefer the fingerprint. Mine is set up that even if it's showing the AOD, as soon as I press the fingerprint sensor, it's INSTANTLY unlocked and showing the home screen. By far the fastest way.

solution
...........you must have installed a third party free software, like mobogenie e.t.c,so go to your settings and find permissions in there you might find a permission regarding your lock screen dont allow any non-samsung apps access to it,and that should do it,lemme know if that did the trick.ciao..........( i copy this from another web site)
This works for me. I uninstall everything which I install today., becouse swipe screen start today.
Sorry for my bad english
hey... I'm lookin for a solution on this as well
android 4.3 and kitkat we didn't have fingerprint... but we didn't have to deal with swiping all the damn time every time we turned the screen off
this sucks... want to keep the screen fingerprint/pattern without the swipe to unlock bit
There is a very discrete menu button in the upper left hand corner of the first unlock screen. That will give you the option to turn it off.

Screenshot? I'm not seeing it.
This has been on basically every android phone since lollipop. just get used to it. There's no way to change it
I agree with OP; having two lock screens is dumb, especially with the secure one just being on a blank screen - no wallpaper.

You are incorrect My LG G4 running Marshmallow I was able to disable the stupid swipe first screen somehow... I know it's possible to do on my new to me LG V20 running Oreo.
I mean seriously you said "just get used to it" on XDA forums? The entire point of these forums was to customize our devices and not to accept the default. If I wanted somebody else to tell me what I wanted I'd be a sheep buying an iPhone.
The home button thing isn't working for me because my V20 doesn't have a home button and for security reasons I don't want to use fingerprint or facial recognition.

For security reasons? Are you scared your device sends your encrypted fingerprints and face image to Samsung so they can sell it to other people?
With every new device, especially from Samsung, and new iteration of Android, it becomes increasingly more difficult to change and mod things. Fewer and fewer mods are being made and become available with every new release. You can see it in the Xposed repository, as well. I doubt disabling the swipe-to-enter pin/password/pattern is very high on anyone's list of things to change. Most people have accepted it and gotten used to it. It's not really all that much of an inconvenience. It adds maybe half a second to the unlocking process.
If you want something that's quicker, just use the fingerprint scanner. Oh, wait...
I have this on the galaxy s7 active on nougat and I'm looking to get rid of it as well...
well Oreo update its gone... Oreo update also isn't very stable... how can I remove this on Nugat? even with root acess? while still keeping the stock security system?
I have found the perfect ROM with Nougat for Xiaomi Mi 5, it was in an online folder with many custom ROMs to be tried but no one talks about them, it is amazing, nice customisation, very good battery life and pleasant performance so I am testing many kernel for it to find the best one. The best ROM for Mi 5 should be based on Nougat because Oreo needs optimization for all what I have seen, and believe me I tested many ROMs . Actually with this ROM and kernel I get 170000 in Antutu.
But something needs to be changed like buttons functions.
A weird wrong thing is that if I press back button 4 times fast, it will open the drawer with installed apps, also it doesn't let me set the long press for central button but only double or long press for fingerprint. Also I have chosen that you can't use fingerprint to wake up screen, but if I put to sleep the phone, after one second fingerprint is still active so you can unlock the phone pressing it, instead after the phone is locked and sleep you should not be able to use fingerprint, but only physical buttons to turn on the screen.
So is there a way to manually change the actions for this buttons, editing text in system folders or other like that?
I want to have my tablet unlocked (unlocked locksceen) but using the fingerprint scanner for my apps, banks etc. Samsung galaxy tab s6. If i setup fingerprints, automatically the locksceen is locked.. You have to use password, fingerprint or patern to unlock.. Which i don't want. I wanted unlock.. If anyone knows..
Thanks,

If you are on stock One UI, try this approach:
Post in thread 'Set automatic lock delay on android to more than 30 min. with ADB' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...re-than-30-min-with-adb.3791042/post-81421129
Also you have to set locking with power button to off in system settings. I was using this successfully on my Tab S5e when I was on stock, although now I'm on Lineage Os

Hmm, this is not impossible, but rather unlikely... Did you make sure to change the power button setting? I don't remember how it is named exactly but I belive it's necessary to get it work. Also you could try to separate adb command for two and use superuser access:
Code:
adb shell
su
settings put secure lock_screen_lock_after_timeout 86400000

Many thanks my friend! This really helped: "Did you make sure to change the power button setting? I don't remember how it is named exactly but I belive it's necessary to get it work"
This made me remember, that the above adb commands probably just increase the time to auto lock the screen.. If you press the button it lock instantly bypassing this I think.. So i setup auto lock the screen in 15 sec (without pressing the button), and is working. When screen goes of automatically, it supposed to lock in 5 sec i think, if you don't preen the power button during this 5 sec (otherwise it will auto lock after those 5 sec). Now this 5 sec has become a day.. So tablet stay unlocked and when i press the power key it goes to desktop. Let's hope tablet go to standby and not consuming battery this way.. This one needs to test.
I think i had an app which just turn screen off without lock. Or probably i can do it in tasker, i will try. I think it's going to work this way.. Or perhaps there is a setting when press the power button not to lock instantly. I don't remember if there is, I'll search it.
Thanks again!
Edit. I just made a command in tasker: turn screen of (without checking lock) and it works.. Screen goes of without locking (normally it won't lock for 5 sec i think, but now is for a day). So i can "lock" by a button shortcut in screen, without really lock, or i can press the button and lock instantly with locksceen (which needs fingerprint to unlock).. Or i can set to double press the power button to run the tasker shortcut, so pressing the power button screen of and lock the tablet, or double press the power button to turn the screen off without lock.. I have the choice.. It's ok this with me, many thanks again!!
