How to go back to MIUI? - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Questions & Answers

I'm on HavocOS Pie, with Treble TWRP (twrp_mod.img) and I wanna go back to MIUI. How can I flash MIUI EU, MIUI Pro, and other MIUI custom ROMs?
Can I do this with the modded TWRP or should I use the normal TWRP?
Before flashing the ROM, I just need to wipe System, Data, Dalvik, Cache (and Vendor if in modded TWRP)?
Before someone ask, I want to go back to MIUI to compare in pratice if I prefer stability + some functions of MIUI, or customization + new Android from Custom AOSP ROMs.

I also require this.

official MIUI - use MI flashtool via fastboot method only
unofficial MIUI - flash via TWRP recovery or MI flashtool will also work
Sure you can. Actually I used twrp to update the stable version of miui for countless times. It is OK, at least for my 64G mi5
No. Official rom you must need miui flash tool.
you can flash Custom recovery form EDL mode even in bootloader locked
Hi. What would be the safest way to go back to global stable rom? I am on miui eu 6.11.10. Boot loader is unlocked, and my recovery is twrp 3.0.2.0. In recovery I get error message when I try to clear cache "can't mount cache". I just want to be able to receive ota, got tired of changing roms. Thanks
Hi I'm on eu Stable 8.1.6. I want to flash developer Global 7.1.19. What is the safest way? Can I do it by TWRP and what I should wipe?

Yes; if you do a backup via TWRP of your miUI rommed device: sysimage + data + boot
advice: save it outside of the device (your computer, etc) for storage.
Then you can go frolicking with wathever rom you want, when tired put back in the device the backup files; reboot in recovery and via TWRP do a restore.
advice 2: as a baseline for a good/solid backup save also "efs" (that is the modem/sim stuff).
Why sysimage and not system?
Because that is an image (all the bytes) and the other is just the bytes in use; so sysimage will be a larger (in mb/gb) file but a more robust one (backup wise).

the TWRP website with mi5 version, wich the latest is "twrp-3.0.2-3-gemini.img" 2016-11-20 https://twrp.me/devices/xiaomimi5.html
the mi5 forum: http://en.miui.com/forum-92-1.html
the rom download page with the official flashing guides: http://en.miui.com/download-299.html
Because to do what you ask you have the recovery method and the fastboot method.
Going from eu to global ROM by TWRP what should I wipe (data, system, dalvik, cashe...)?

Can I just flash official stable .zip on aosp rom?

Hello!
I want to go back to MIUI on my Santoni (Redmi 4X). Currently I have AospExtended ROM and TWRP recovery. Can I just flash official stable .zip from Xiaomi website through TWRP? (miui_HM4XGlobal_V9.2.5.0.NAMMIEK_c6f74c37a1_7.1.zip)
Also AFAIR my phone was originally on Chinese/English software, so this Chinese/Global ROMs are universal or not?
Many thanks in advance!
Yes You can flash MIUI ROM via Recovery method.
Wipe data+dalvik+cache+system
Flash Your ROM Zip
Flash Lazy flasher(needed if flashing MIUI ROM)
Clear dalvik & cache again
Reboot to system
Wait for 5min Atleast at MiLOGO

Just flash as usual.
- Wipe data, cache, system (dont forget to backup your important files)
- Flash MIUI
- Flash lazy flasher (optional)
Keep in mind
If you flash global beta version, it will replace your TWRP, you need to flash your recovery by fastboot whith pc.
China version, cannot replace your TWRP.
Hi,
with the xiaomi.eu rom, you won't loose your recovery. Just follow instructions told by @MattHdH :
- Wipe data, cache, system (dont forget to backup your important files)
- Flash MIUI
Reboot.
Done !

Redmi 4X: .EU don't wipe system / LOS wipe system (?)

Hi everyone,
I'm using Redmi 4X (China Version) currently with the latest 8.11.15 Global Beta ROM. I would like to flash TWRP again and go back to Xiaomi.EU ROM. I'm a bit confused because: If I want to flash LineageOS for Redmi 4X (santoni), in the instructions it says "wipe system" but in Xiaomi.EU they say "don't wipe system". So if I want LOS for now, and then Xiaomi.EU, who is wrong and who is right? Or will I have any issues if I wipe system?
Yours sincerely,
CyNote / peryson
Wiping system is must before flashing any custom rom.

In Xiaomi.EU site they are saying when you flash their rom, do not wipe system or persist! (I'm confused)
Because I wanted to try LineageOS, and in LOS site they say to wipe system.
You must need to clean flash (including wiping system) when switching between different ROM but you don't need to wipe system if you are flashing same ROM or it's update.
E.g. as now you are using MIUI 8.11.15, so whenever next update releases you can flash update without wiping system.
So if you want to flash Lineage OS and your device has currently installed ROM is MIUI then you'll have to clean flash including wiping system.
This same applies to all other ROMs. If currunt ROM and the ROM you want to flash are different then you'll have to wipe system too.
If you've already installed xiaami.eu ROM installed already then you don't need to wipe system, you can directly flash update/on top of it.
Xiaomi.eu and MIUI are two different ROMs.
MIUI is official ROM from Xiaomi and Xiaomi.eu is modified ROM from official MIUI ROM hence they are different and requires clean flash if you switch in between.
You'll have clean flash including wiping system in order to flash Lineage OS on your device.
Do take full backup of your data before flashing.
Hope it clears your doubt.

help me for flashing aosp based rom

mine was cn stable 11.0.4.0 build miui 11 android 10,then i flashed eu beta 9.12.12,so do i need flash vendor for install aosp based rom, like havoc, evox?tell me about it ,i heard that if i have miui 11 with android 10 then I don't need vendor or firmware,is it true?
Yes that's true, if you're on MIUI 11 no need of vendor, however i would get out of that beta firmware first, flash stable and then shift to custom ROM
Sent from my Redmi K20 Pro using Tapatalk
i wouldn't recomend you touching vendor image unless after flashing the rom you get bootloops.
if you flash or change vendor it will change the encryption keys so ALWAYS flash DFE (disable force encryption) before you reboot. this is unsafe for security reasons! , however if you have taken backup! then perform FORMAT DATA and let new encrption keys to be instated to access internal storage!
