Thinking of getting a VPN for general safety/encryption and Netflix US library unlock. Could anyone suggest a good provider for this matter? I tried searching for one, but with so many choices I feel lost.
I'm on a tight budget, so looking only at cheaper options.

Thanks for sharing, going to have a look!
HideMyAss! Nice one. It's one of the largest VPN providers owned by Avast.
Private Internet Access! Good monthly fee and no logs unlike HideMyAss and others.
I use Opera Browser for VPN. I honestly don't see the point of purchasing a VPN software when you can simple get it for free as an add-on in the browser. Try it and thank me later.

Expressvpn
Secure vpn
Windscribe, 10Gb free
Windscribe FTW
I have Windscribe. Bought the lifetime subscription for it and have been using it like crazy. Both on my phone and PC to download movies/sw/music etc. The subscription came with the option to install it on 5 devices. Totally recommend it.
Expressvpn
Expressvpn
VAnguard
I am using Hoxx VPN...It is best for use, you can try this. Thanks
Short Answer: Windscribe or Proton VPN.
Windscribe is offered for free with up to 15GB/Month of bandwidth for free and it is faster than proton VPN, This is what you get with PRO:

}
Proton VPN is offered for free with UNLIMITED bandwidth but slower speeds than Windscribe, This is what you get with PRO:
Conclusion:
I don't like to pay for a VPN so I just use windscribe until my bandwidth is done and then I switch to Proton VPN until the end of the month and once my bandwidth is reset in windscribe I repeat the same process. If you want to pay for a VPN then I would recommend windscribe since you get more for cheaper

Are you also open to using an RDP, if yes then I would recommend using EC2 from amazon, I once used their free trial version for one year.

Was using express vpn. Great, but pretty expensive.
In China, VPN is still a very important tool for linking external networks.

Hello,
So, I just flashed my phone with Windows mobile 6.5. I found this cool little app someone added so you can share your phone data connection via wifi.
Now, I have a pda unlimited connection plan. However, does anyone know if you can get caught by ATT for not having a tethering plan?
Thanks for the info and great site!

I cannot tell you about the ATT Dataplan, though usually you'll have to do big numbers in data for any provider to notice!
But what I *do* want to ask is where you found the app, which one is it, and how stable is your phone with it?
I tried a few on my kaiser, and they always hang the phone!

Possibly... But HTC recently developed their own "Wifi Share" or "WiFi Internet Sharing" app (which supposedly will come free of charge with their new ROMs) of which there are several versions floating around as well...
are you talking about htc's internet sharing app? going over 5GB of data a month gets AT&T suspicious

It is the CM or OM internet sharing. Found it came with the windows 6.5 23049 TCP_Stock-like WWE. Everything works well. Funny thing is with the old windows 6.1 I only had 3G. After the upgrade, I now also have HSPDA service. However, I have to say the new IE 6 mobile is nothing great. Skyfire has far better flash support.
Today a guy and I where talking about phones. He has the Iphone 3g and thought it was great. Until I pulled out my phone and went to youtube on skyfire. He did not say much after that. Just started watching the video and tried other flash apps.
These older phones are still great! About 2 weeks ago I was ready to sign another two year contract for the iphone 3gs. Now I am going to wait until the next iphone, Motorola Cliq, or HTC Hero.
Thanks again for the advice!
Mike
haha you should have tried to do anything other that and he would have busted his phone back out and ran his mouth..
As long as you do not go crazy; AT&T will never know. I think there is a real amount of data they look for. But from what I have heard, if you use a total of 5 GB of useage(not just downloads); it throws a red flag. They believe you cannot use 5GB on a phone and basically, even though the plan is unlimited, it is not really unlimited.
Check out the AT&T Tilt FAQ's in the Wiki. And look for tethering
Also for fun do a google search for "man gets $85000 cell phone bill for modem use"; that is what happens if you use your phone as a modem all the time.
Sorry guys, Bloomberg asked me to discontinue the development of this app. So I'm removing the download link and will not continue to work on this
Hi everyone,
I have begun to work on a financial application for Android. It is called BloomDroid. As the name suggests, this application retreives data from Bloomberg data system (ie the website:mobile.bloomberg.com).
The version I post here is a very early beta and I'm planning to add many more features (of course limited with what bloomberg offers on its website)

The app is not available in the Android Market for now. I want it to mature a little before then.
You can download the app from: (app removed by request from bberg)
It requires full internet access permission for internet access and sd card write access to store charts.
It downloads 7-8 kb per query, so be careful if you do not have an unlimited plan.
Features:
- Retreive company name, description, price and change(%) for given quote. You must provide company ticker in XXXX:YY form, XXXX is the ticker for company, YY is the country code. such as GOOG:US, 4338:HK, GGQ1:GR, AAPL:US, 2788:JP
- Lookup for company ticker
Planned:
- A list of equities (like in stock Stocks program)
- News from Bloomberg
- Markets and currencies.
- Maybe a widget.
Changelog:
19/12/2009 - v.0.0.2
- Now you have a stock list!!
- Charts are saved on sdcard/bloomdroid
- many many bug fixes
21/10/2009 - v.0.0.1
- Bug fixes.
19/10/2009 - v.0.0.0
- Initial release.
- Can retreive any quote on Bloomberg web site.
that is a cool idea. i want a better widget for stock portfolio
cracking little app, love it!
I've released an update for this app.
Would like to hear the comments of investor members
will it work with milestone?
It's cool !
Is it possible to draw a simple and advanced technical chart i.e. simple moving average, rsi, stochastic, cci, bollinger band, macd,
It would be perfect if the above wish list become real.

Is this app dead or is the developer still updating it? Hope so bc I love BB's commodities, futures and currency quotes.
Hey guys, app is not dead.. Just I didn't get enough encouragement to continue working on it. But now that I see at least 3 new users , I'll resume working on it as soon as I have some free time.
Please make an update for 800*480 for my htc desire!
Bloomberg official app is the only thing i envy from iphone users..!
Sorry guys, I've stopped working on this after being approached from BloomBerg to halt development. We have to wait for their official app I guess.

i saw the vendetta online on xoom trailer, and i want to play it badly, anyone got a release date or beta test date?
Says coming April 2011 on the Tegra Zone app.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
The devs say it should be launching soon!!!!

In the meantime you can play the PC/Mac/Linux version. I just signed up online and I'm trying it out tonight. Game looks like Freelancer (great PC game), but online...which is amazing.
Start your journey so you can make the jump when it comes in April! (Seen on Tegra Zone). XD
lol thats what i thought,i love freelancer, and play in one of the multiplayer mods, and i am starting to play it on my pc for now,but i want motion control1!!!!lol

So I was kinda hyped about it,cause im a freelancer fanatic, and space fighters are my thing, and the thought of controlling a space fighter with my xoom is well, kinda hot? Anyways, so I was thinking, maybe I got my hopes up, and was expecting to much from this game? Or maybe It was my expectations that were to high...But as I sit and play this game on my Xoom, and 100% sure my thoughts were wrong, this game is amazing, everything I was looking for in a space fighter on the Xoom!
game is out as of today. Was gonna make a new thread. But desided to revive this one
I'm a fan of space flight and something on the Xoom could be pretty neat (but not sure about the controls.)
However, one of the reviews mentions a trial and subscription? Whats up with that? Buying the app plus paying a subscription to play? I haven't found the details yet but I'm lookin...
Edit:
Found a preview through a link on the vendetta website. $10 monthly subscription.

How many MMO's are available for mobile devices?
They should go the micro-transaction route like pocket legends. Pay for what you want to do. You spend a lot of time playing, you spend more money, a little time, a little money. The model has proved extremely profitable for them. 40-50% more profitable on Android than iOS too, as announced earlier today.
It looks neat and all, but I'm not going to buy an app that requires a subscription for a game that I would likely only play intermittently.
Edit:
Also, PC players are in the same world? I foresee a lot of Xoom users getting their asses beat down pretty hard.
I wonder if the subscription at least is transferable to the PC. ie, play on either device? I dunno..still hard to swallow for a game released in I think 2002?
The Android Version includes:
" Single-Player "Free Play" mode: after completing the tutorial, a free-play sandbox sector becomes available, letting you perfect your flying technique and enjoy minigames while offline. This feature will be expanded in future patches, and will permanently be available to anyone with the game installed, regardless of whether they ever choose to subscribe. Enjoy!"
If you want this game just google the apki have it running on my galaxy s it kind of boring and there only a 16 hour trail what that all about

Whats your take on the matter? Does it bother you? Will you still purchase one?
Truthfully I personally don`t like the idea of Amazon using my device for a billboard. Maybe they should pay me for use of the space... Another thing don`t children get bombarded with enough advertising? Lets just give them something for Christmas that will add to it and that we will have no control over the content!!!
I'm not a big fan of the idea though I will say that as far as ads go, it's a pretty creative, less annoying way to do it. That said, Once someone roots it and I can slap on stock JB so as to make it a glorified Nexus 7, I'll probably pick one up.

They are already paying you, through the use of a subsidy to lower the price of the device. They have been doing this for a long time with their e-Ink Kindle devices. If you choose an ad-supported model over an ad-free Kindle, they knock about $30 off the retail price for that device. So in response to your comment, yes they are indeed paying you for use of that space. When Amazon introduce the device, they will also give you the option of paying that subsidy and remove the advertising (Amazon insist on calling it "Special Offers", but I digress. If you don't like those ads, you can get rid of them don't worry, it's not forced upon you.

I think it might help you to actually read the linked article or at least the title/subtitle for it. The entire point of the story is... "Yes, they've done it before, but this time you can't get rid of them." It doesn't look like there is any opting out of this one... at least for the time being.
What might be interesting, and something I could see them doing is giving the option of ad-removal to Prime members only.
The lock screen ads don't bother me, but an ad on the home screen's not cool.
I don't think it bothers me. An announcement has just been made that you can now opt out for $15. For $15, I would probably choose to opt out.

Hey ladies and gentlement!
As I'm already recognized a high resonance via G+, I thought I'll start a OT-Thread here related to the topic
- Free Cloud Storage -
As for sure a lot of ppl has another priority and subjectiv opinion on different cloud services,
but I think we all are fair and reational enough to share our meanings without treating other meaning or ppl here.
So I'll start with my own experience and opinion:
In my opinion the realtiv new cloud storage of 'Copy' is one of the best cloud storage service,
which offers a really great android app, too.
The app also was re-designed some weeks ago and it's quiet intuitive and more looking good.
I'm personally also a Google fan and so for sure using G-Drive, too, but anyway for general daily cloud handling I use this at all.
'Copy' also let u create a synchronisation folder which gives the opportunity to share and edit things in a kind of group.
So I personally learned to use this in my job when working on a project, so that other project-partners could see when I put in new files
and themselves could view & edit them if they want. Also they could just put in their own files, so that I can see it.
Over this you can give different rights, for what anyone can to in this folder.
(I think that's enough explained for synchronisation folders)
Let's go ahead to the most sensitive point in nowadays "Security".
So to let's say first, that there is no 100% safe cloud service and surly will never be!
So we all have to trust the service and can orientate here on the security standards they offer.
'Copy' that for uses a part for the connection and one for the encryption of data to/on their servers.
The connection is here saved by the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) standard
and the data encryption by the AES256 (Advanced Encryption Standard)
Even their are other possibilities and the SSL could be the updated TLS standard, this is one of the highest "daily" protection standard.
[I don't want to get off from topic here, so let's say that there are more higher security standard, but u have to think in relative terms here!]
In the app u also have the opportunity to set a PIN, to secure the entry in app, even the phone won't have one.
At this point I hope I don't forget any important points, otherwise just ask and let me know...
Again this is for sure a objective view on things, so please let me know what u guys think and share your meanings and recommandation of cloud storage services.
CHEERS

With the link below u get 20GB [5GB to the 15GB] free storage on 'Copy', because I invited you.
So if u want to test it or saying "yes this listen like what I searched for", just register via it,
than 5GB more, are better than not or?

PS: Yes I also get 5GB free if u use this link, but anyway this shouldn't be a big advertisement, just a recommendation.
