Nougant to Oreo error 7 - Xiaomi Mi MIX Questions & Answers

Issues trying to flash Oreo or pie ROMS. Before this issue started I was on RR Oreo I wanted to go back to Nougant because of the options to have more features/customizations. I ran Nougant for awhile and was wanting to go back to either a Oreo rom or Pie. I tried several times to flash RR Oreo also tried other Oreo and pie roms but I get error 7. After I got the error 7 I formated then tried again and it didn't work. I'm using the updated blunden twrp 15.1 I also tried the fstb blunden and no luck. I tried to flash the firmware that works with RR Oreo but twrp gives me file is corrupt and I know it's not I iv used that same file before. Any suggestions would be good and thanks.
Edit, I thought I had my issue fixed. I have twrp updated img installed, I did a backup of my current Oreo rom. I then wiped data because I wanted to try a different Oreo rom. I flashed the Oreo rom and got error 7,wtf I have formated I don't know how many times. I had to sideload the Oreo rom I had on before..

I can't flash any Android Oreo ROM

Hello, I have a problem with my Xiaomi Redmi 4X phone, as I said, I can not flash any Custom ROM for Android 8.1 All this happened after I put my phone in service to replace the display on which I've broken it. Now any version of Android 8.1 I try to flash results in a bootloop. I have to mention 3 things
1. In TWRP when flashing I noticed that all Custom ROMs are stuck in "Flashing system files ..." for a few seconds after saying that it ended flash-but did not abssolut anything.
2. Now a few hours I accidentally flashed Pixel Experince, but now I have the same problem.
3. I can not flash any versions of TWRP.Not much but...
THIS IS HAPPENING ONLY ON THE ANDROID OREO ROMs, Nougat ROMs works perfectlly
Try to flash first latest version of twrp or you can flash redwolf recovery then flash firmware v40 then try clean flash for oreo roms
As mentioned by above user...(latest TWRP recovery and firmware is must)
Flash latest TWRP recovery, 3.2.1-0 should be fine but there's update available 3.2.2.-0 so any will do.
Next, flash latest firmware.
Clean flash is must when changing OS.
It's most likely you don't have latest TWRP recovery and firmware.
Do backup first.

Mi 5 bootloop whenever installing android oreo based rom

So, I tried everything, flashed the ROM based on OREO like 9.6.1.0 ended in bootlooping the device, also custom rom based on OREO doesnt work too, like pixel experience, LINEAGE, ETC
Other than OREO based, ROM based on NOUGAT works well, like MIUI 8.xxx or RR based on NOUGAT
Any idea why this happens?

Your custom recovery needs to be an Oreo version compatible, so you can install oreo based roms on it.
Try to update to early version.
Regards.

this is quite weird ... since if you install any nougat ... you'll sure receive OTA update to oreo (dev or stable) ...
why dont you take that OTA?

yes, installing the OTA based on OREO update also cause bootloop happens
basically, anything OREO based, whether it's ota or flashing it manually through TWRP, ZCX TWRP, or Mi Flash cause bootloop
Have you wipe your internal partition?
I think we need to wipe all partition after installing firmware when come from nougat to Oreo, because Oreo have new vendor partition.
At least you should use twrp-3.2.1-1-gemini

Try reflashing latest twrp via fastboot (not from within twrp).
After wiping all partitions (also mount and wipe vendor) and formatting data, reboot to recovery before flashing the ROM to access the data partition correctly again.
Then also try to boot (would go with a custom ROM) without any gapps, mods or root first, to further center the problem.
What happens now?
Have the same problem
Try to install latest build via fastboot --> failed
Try to install miui nougat based work, ota update to oreo based -->bootloop
Also try to flash all included internal storage but the problem still occured
Any miui nougat based and aex mod 5.1 work fine in my phone
Install lazy flasher before installing anything like SuperSU...

Puh, don't know.
Do you have an old backup of your efs partition lying around?
If so, try restoring that.
If that also doesn't help, I'm through with my math here, I think...
Flash a Lineage OS 14.1 build without GApps but with a firmware that supports Oreo. Then, go to developer settings, turn on ADB and run adb devices on your computer so that the RSA Fingerprint pops up. There, make sure you tap on remember this computer and click ok.
Now, do an update to Lineage 15.1 without wiping anything. As soon as you reboot your phone, connect it to your PC and try to get a logcat. Paste the logcat here and we'll be able to see what's actually going on.

Downgrade Pie to Oreo - Error 1 can't mount new /system?

I updated to Pie DevBase to test it a bit, then to RomAur 4.0, didn't like it and now i'm trying to go back to Oreo using devbase 6.0 ARL3/4 or LightRom .zip's.
I cannot install ANY Oreo ROM anymore from TWRP. It will always say after installing can't mount new /system installation aborted.
I can flash a Pie .zip just fine tho like RomAur for example. No errors.
I got Oreo to install once by completely Odin flashing ARL4 onto my phone but then after i installed DevBase ARL4 once it failed again after that..
Wiping /system will let it mount but still errors as soon as I install a Oreo ROM.
I also flashed several different bootloaders and TWRP versions (the themed ones, the themeless one) and i have no idea where this is coming from...
Anyone got some tips? I mean, i can use my phone as any Pie ROM will flash just fine and so will an Odin flashed Oreo but i wanna use my custom Oreo ROM's...
Restoring a TWRP nandroid backup sometimes works but usually not. Also gives a /system error.

Nougat roms say: Encryption failed - on first boot

Hi!
I cannot use any 7.1 roms, because on the first boot, they say that the encryption failed ( most of the time in chinese) and i need to reset the device. If i hit reset, the same screen will appear again. I'm trying installing different firmvares from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-4x/how-to/firmwares-t3682965 with no luck so far. Do you have any idea, what could solve the problem?
I always wipe everything before the new firmware and i reflash the rom.
Try changing recovery that should help, i have used Orangefox recovery R8.2 and was able to flash various Nougat based MIUI ROMs and Oreo ROMs(i have not tried any custom ROM based on Nougat than MIUI)

Can't get past Error 7 on my T710 in TWRP

Hello,
I'm trying to install custom ROMs but I can't get past Error 7 on my T710
Tried different versions of TWRP 3.3.1 and TWRP 3.4.0, tried many other ROMs, tried removing 'assert' from ROMs and many other different methods, still no luck.
Flashed the original firmware now, tried everything over again (flash TWRP, flash ROMs (full wipe/format) and still same issue.
I was able to flash LineageOS on my T713 without any issues, like that ROM a lot and want to use the unofficial version for T710.
Please help.

Any chance of testing older versions of TWRP?
Found this: "Q: Whenever I try flashing any (lineage-17.1) build, I get the following error in TWRP: Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
A: This error appears whenever you try to flash an Q-based rom within a version of TWRP older than 3.4. Simply flash the linked below version 3.4 or higher, reboot back into recovery, and flash the rom zip again. "
