i upgraded to Pie 9 (One UI) official update. But after restarting the home screen won't come. It continuosly says "Samsung Experience Home keeps stopping" and gives option ..App Info ...Close App and Send Feedback.
I basically can;t use my phone. I can't get into Phone or any App. Phone bricked!
Do you get a chance to go to settings and maybe uninstall updates for SEH app or swap to Easy mode. Does it work if you boot in Safemode? As last restort, you might have to factory reset (make a backup using smartswitch if pos.)
No even settings malfunctions. I cannot go to the app screen, where i see the apps. How to boot in safemode?
Safe mode doesnt allow me to uninstall anything under Samsung Experience Home
Can you change to Easy mode so that it circumvents SEH ? Then once out of safe mode try to uninstall updates for SEH or download another launcher and set it as default. You are not using any themes by any chance?
Luckily i had Nova Launcher. When i exited Safe MOde and rebooted it asked me whether it should use Nova or SEH. I chose Nova "Always" and phone is back on
Here's the solution according to Samsung. See screenshot.
Also if you use one hand operations+ , disabling its animations FC the launcher for me.

Bump up up up up
Try to change the theme, I have no issues using go launcher. You can also remove user settings from manage apps, if you run out of ideas. Though it will realy wipe all go launcher settings.
Problem solve with a factory reset.
PS: I wasnt able to acess any options menu, i could acess only the status bar.
I have disabled Facebook home and uninstalled it. I have the Android default home and ADW Launcher. Every boot it asks me which launcher to go to. Each time I select ADW Launcher and then press Always. But every boot the defaults seem to be reset. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the First or with Jellybean.

Do you have S-Off? The only reason I can think of that would cause it to do so is if you don't have S-Off. When you uninstall Facebook Home, it will reinstall itself as the default home upon rebooting the device because of S-On. So if you don't have nor want S-Off, I'd recommend simply turning off Facebook Home in the Home Settings rather than uninstalling it.
Sent from my HTC first using xda app-developers app
So today, after loading an app, my Nokia 8 decided to reboot itself. After rebooting, a few things ceased to function.
The Home button no longer worked. The recent apps button stopped working, I can pull down the notification bar however, the settings button and extending the notification bar to show notifications no longer functioned.
On top of this, Google Play stopped functioning with regards to installing software and you will notice that you cannot access the developer options anymore (as well as all your personal settings being reset!)
Was at a complete loss at what to do... I managed to install the Nova Launcher from an apk file from there accessed the short cuts to the Setting Wizard and re-ran it.
You can re-run the setting with the same email address and as soon as it's finished, everything should be working back to normal. You may need to reset a few preferences (such as keyboards etc / glance screen etc) but at least all the buttons work again.
Step instructions:
- Download Nova Launcher. If you cannot from the google play store, search for it on Chrome and download an apk version
- Install it (you may get a pop up advising you need to let apps installed from chrome, go to settings and allow it)
- Once installed, click on Open. This should launch the Nova Launcher
- Long press anywhere on the screen
- Choose Widgets.
- Look for the Activities widget and hold and place it anywhere on the screen.
- Scroll down to Setup Wizard. There's two, one that's "Setup Wizard" and the other "SetupWizard" without a space. Choose the first. There should be an option under it called ".SetupWizardUpgradeActivity". It might be slightly different for you pending the version OS you have but that's what came up for me.
- Select that to create the widget shortcut then click to open.
- This will bring you to the setup wizard and then just click Next all the way through (turn off any preferences you may have in the past)
And voila. Back to normal afterwards!
Note: You don't need to use Nova Launcher as your default launcher. You can even uninstall it if you want.
Works!
Thank you, this totally worked!
I think Skype crashing and crashing the phone caused this for me. It's getting an uninstall as a special thank you.
Cheers,
Peter
Please help! I don't see any option for setup wizard!
Got a Fire 10 on prime day this week. Came with 5.6.0.1 and last night I rooted using Kingoroot and installed Play Store, etc. Thought I had disabled OTA updates but this morning I saw that it had added the new show mode feature. It will now boot into show mode and will not show the home screen when I use the circle button. If I swipe down from the top I can get to settings and from there I can use the app switcher to get back to Nova Launcher, but every time I try to go back to home screen it goes into show mode. I have rerooted and have tried to use adb to make nova the defualt and disable amazon launcher. Any ideas on how to disable show mode or at least get it to turn off? Thanks.
I have the exact same issue. Did you ever figure it out?
Fixed; for the most part

I installed Launcher Hijacker and that fixed it. It will still go to show mode sonetimes but a second press of the home button will take it to the right launcher.

You can get rid of Show Mode? Try to deregister your Fire tablet and disable the Show Mode's device administrator, go to Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Device administrators -> Show Mode and disable it and try to factory reset.

I found the packages for launching show mode is called Launcher and the package name is com.amazon.paladin, can you disable it:
Code:
//Using ADB on your PC
adb shell
su
pm disable com.amazon.paladin
//OR, using Terminal Emulator app from Google Play
su
pm disable com.amazon.paladin
I don't know what happened, I was going to pair my smart watch (non-samsung) to my S21 Ultra but it wouldn't, so I rebooted the phone, and it rebooted with the One UI launcher instead of Nova Launcher, so I switched back to Nova, checked the default setting in Nova settings and it was still set to Nova as the default, when trying to leave the Nova settings, it again returned to One UI home, so I checked in settings for default apps, and Nova is still set to the default. So I tried force stopping One UI home, and return home, and again, it opens One UI home, it will not open Nova anymore.
I tried rebooting again, and oddly enough, Nova was the default launcher again. Figured it was just a glitch so I went on with my day and it just happened again but I haven't touched anything, it was on my desk all day untouched and when I picked it up, One UI launcher again.
Now, no matter how many times I reboot, it will always pick the One UI launcher, but the weird thing is when I'm in Nova, I can't swipe to go home because it's already on the default launcher, but when in an app, I swipe to go home and it goes to One UI home, and swiping to go home does nothing within that launcher as well.
So some how, not sure what happened, but the phone is using both launchers at the default now and there's no way to stop One UI from opening.
I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, or if there's a fix for it, but would removing One UI with ADB (if possible) cause issues? Like if I force remove this with ADB will the phone even boot to a different default launcher if One UI home isn't there anymore?
I would do more testing but this is my daily driver so I don't wanna mess with it too much, but this is really annoying that it keeps defaulting to One UI home.
I was having the same issue at first. What I did to fix it was set OneUI as default, exit the menu. Go back into that menu and then change back to Nova Launcher. Reboot. It took a couple of tries repeating the same process, but it eventually sticks. I haven't had any issues since.
Also, side note. The Samsung widgets that aren't transparent, first set them up in OneUI with the settings you want them at. Then when you go back Nova Launcher, remove the the original and readd them. There is only 1 widget that I can't get to go transparent, Reminders.
