Question Weird launcher issue - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

I don't know what happened, I was going to pair my smart watch (non-samsung) to my S21 Ultra but it wouldn't, so I rebooted the phone, and it rebooted with the One UI launcher instead of Nova Launcher, so I switched back to Nova, checked the default setting in Nova settings and it was still set to Nova as the default, when trying to leave the Nova settings, it again returned to One UI home, so I checked in settings for default apps, and Nova is still set to the default. So I tried force stopping One UI home, and return home, and again, it opens One UI home, it will not open Nova anymore.
I tried rebooting again, and oddly enough, Nova was the default launcher again. Figured it was just a glitch so I went on with my day and it just happened again but I haven't touched anything, it was on my desk all day untouched and when I picked it up, One UI launcher again.
Now, no matter how many times I reboot, it will always pick the One UI launcher, but the weird thing is when I'm in Nova, I can't swipe to go home because it's already on the default launcher, but when in an app, I swipe to go home and it goes to One UI home, and swiping to go home does nothing within that launcher as well.
So some how, not sure what happened, but the phone is using both launchers at the default now and there's no way to stop One UI from opening.
I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, or if there's a fix for it, but would removing One UI with ADB (if possible) cause issues? Like if I force remove this with ADB will the phone even boot to a different default launcher if One UI home isn't there anymore?
I would do more testing but this is my daily driver so I don't wanna mess with it too much, but this is really annoying that it keeps defaulting to One UI home.

I was having the same issue at first. What I did to fix it was set OneUI as default, exit the menu. Go back into that menu and then change back to Nova Launcher. Reboot. It took a couple of tries repeating the same process, but it eventually sticks. I haven't had any issues since.
Also, side note. The Samsung widgets that aren't transparent, first set them up in OneUI with the settings you want them at. Then when you go back Nova Launcher, remove the the original and readd them. There is only 1 widget that I can't get to go transparent, Reminders.

No launchers working on my Galaxy Note

Few days back I opted to change the look & feel of my Galaxy Note so decided to install Go Launcher Ex.It was initially on but started lagging on home screens.Yesterday I uninstalled it and went for the default one.Today I thought of giving other launchers a try so went for ADW & LauncherPro but none seem to work or start even though they show as installed app.
what do you mean they arent working?
have you unset the default in applications?
I mean just nothing happens after installing the launchers...neither any shortcut or any change to the gui...
You need to run the launcher then press the home button and select the specified launcher as default.
Go to manage apps & clear defaults of your last used launcher

[Q] defaults being reset each boot

I have disabled Facebook home and uninstalled it. I have the Android default home and ADW Launcher. Every boot it asks me which launcher to go to. Each time I select ADW Launcher and then press Always. But every boot the defaults seem to be reset. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the First or with Jellybean.

Do you have S-Off? The only reason I can think of that would cause it to do so is if you don't have S-Off. When you uninstall Facebook Home, it will reinstall itself as the default home upon rebooting the device because of S-On. So if you don't have nor want S-Off, I'd recommend simply turning off Facebook Home in the Home Settings rather than uninstalling it.

[Q] Notification drawer not coming down

I just got this phone a couple of days ago. So far, I've got TWRP, Chroma (12 Apr version since any of the later updates don't work for me), and SuperSU up and running. I've also got Nova Launcher and Greenify as well. Once in a while, I'll get a pop up that says "[APP NAME] has been granted superuser permissions for an interactive shell". It's usually Nova Launcher or Greenify that does this, and right after that, I'll notice that my notification drawer won't come down anymore. Technically, I can force the drawer to come down by changing the gesture in Nova Launcher (both this and Greenify still work fine), but it's basically the entire top part of the screen that becomes nonfunctional. I can't click anything that happens to be there, be it the Google search bar or the menu buttons within any given app. When I turn it horizontal, the nonfunctional part of the screen turns with it as well.
I'm not sure what the problem is, but it does go away after I reboot my phone. Half the times it will work, half the times it won't.

I would venture a guess and say this could be an issue with Nova. I don't recall Nova needing superuser privileges though from when I used it on my rooted G3, but that, perhaps, has changed. I would restore a backup, if you have one, or try a different launcher and see if the problem persists before going further. Start with the simple fixes first. :good:

Huawei Home keeps setting itself back as the launcher

This is for the EVA-AL10.
I use Nova Launcher. I changed to it using apps -> settings -> default app settings -> launcher. It works fine, but then when I turn bluetooth on to listen to music during my commute, some time while BT is active, the launcher gets changed back to Huawei Home, and I have to go through the progression I detailed above. Unless I turn Bluetooth off, I run the risk of the default launcher being changed back to Huawei Home again at any time.
Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone have any ideas?

[Q] 3rd Party Launcher

I have been using the Nova Launcher, Prime, for years. I have set this as my default launcher. However, every time I reboot the phone, it reverts back to the Pixel Launcher. I re-set Nova as default. Sometimes it goes right back to Pixel until I go back into setting to set Nova as default, once again. This time it holds.
Is there another way to force Nova as the default launcher, even after a reboot??

Try phone settings, apps, default, set Nova as home launcher. Sticks for me even after a reboot. Don't do it from the Nova settings

Weird. Just restarted the phone to test and it sticks.
Sorry not sure what else it could be
I've had this happen as well I think it's if you try to use the launcher before it completely boots up. What I mean is I turn my phone on and as soon as it shows my home screen I try to go to the app tray. It then reverts to pixel launcher. I guess Nova needs to push out an update which I am sure will be coming.

Also to be sure and check that you allow Nova to modify system settings. :good:
