So, I have an unlocked galaxy S7 that I'm trying to activate with verizon. How do I go about doing this?
I read online that it is not possible because verizon will show it as incompatible and I wont be able to get a sim card from them, but others are saying that it is possible.
I'm also reading many ways to do so. Whats the newest and best firmware version?
Some say to use Verizon firmware, while others say to use U firmware?
The model that I have is Samsung SM-G891A and I read to get the firmware that I want to flash to, from THIS site but this site does not list my model at all. Would there be any issues flashing on my model?
Last but not least, the guides state to use Odin to do the flashing, but I'm on a mac. Any experiences with Jodin? That can be read about here
sammobile gets 'tricky' searching for the correct firmware. I had many many issues and discovered oddd things that helped me find the samsung firmware I needed on that site.
If i were to type galaxy in the firmware search box. a bucket load of models would appear on the drop down menu.
If i continued to type and added "s7" the model list would still show 20 different variants or more.
if i added edge to that search menu. so it would now read " galaxy s7 edge "
the drop down list would should a-z variants, except of course the variant i needed E.G. verizon variant.
If i clicked the search button ( which you must click as the enter button is non-responsive )
many times the firmware search box would auto fill with the wrong variant.
pressing the back button and attempting to search for the Verizon variant would show no results. if i simply changed the search from galaxy s7 edge(S935A) to galaxy s7 edge(s935V).
Was very frustrating.
My solution, since i knew they HAD to have a Verizon variant.. search on google for the EXACT stock firmware I was needing.
E.G. G935VVRU4BQK4 and then change the country code on the drop down menu to the code i required. then proceeded to download... or try to download because usually it would log me out and force me to reenter my login credentials. then upon researching and getting ack to the download page it would log me out again. So then I fixed that by using Internet explorer and copying and pasting the URL from chrome into the I.E. browser after logging into the website and would be able to download the firmware I required.
hope this info helps you.

you do not have a s7 you have an s6 active
"
AT&T now testing rumored Galaxy S6 Active (SM-G891A) upgrade
The day before yesterday, we reported that an unidentified Samsung smartphone carrying the model number SM-G891A was imported into India for testing. Unfortunately, no documentation accompanied the handset from South Korea, but seeing as the Galaxy S6 Active sports the model number SM-G890A, we came to the conclusion that this unnamed device was the Galaxy S6 Active (2016). T-mobile tab is the same as the GT-P1000 only uses a diferent modem, you can use all the roms for GT-P1000 just need to flash the t-mobile modem.
i have rooted my P1000N stock (2.2) using z4root.
You can upgrade to Gingrebread, Honeycomb RC1, and Android 4.0 (ICS) alpha3
You can find custom firmwares in developers section,
If I may add a little more.
1. If you are are going to change your phone's initial software to enable voice, please be advise that once voice is enabled, you will only be able to get edge internet, similar to people with ios running simple mobile.
2. If you are needing voice enabled, please do not flash the tmobile modem as you will only be limited to data coverage only. You may download any of the fine modems that DarkPal put together in the Developement thread that is stickied and see which one works best for u.
3. I would recomment you start off with the overcome rom as it is samsung base. They have a pretty good tutorial at their website (if its up) and once you get comfortable flashing your tab, then you can move on to other roms and experiment.
Remember, tmobile modem will restrict you to high speed data, while other non tmobile modems like the jpz will give you voice calls, but restrict your data to edge, hope this helps.
so i have googled and searched and googled some more and i cant seem to figure out how to make this work
I have
Sprint Note 9 that has been unlocked and works on other carrier(its on cricket as of right now)
SM-N960U
Software: N960USQS4DTD5
Service Provider: SPR/XAA/XAA
Android 10
so the issues is now that it is unlocked i keep getting pop up from sprint saying my profile cant be updated and so forth so i have been trying to flash it to ethier the unlocked firmware or even ATT firmware since cricket uses that towers figured that would be better then sprints but everytime i just fails right from the start or it sits for 2-3 and then fails (image attached) i have installed all drivers and im using the patched version of odin.
at this point i am out of ideas on what could be going on with it
Thanks

I ca't see your attachment. Maybe others too.
I even reuploaded the jpg from a png and it still wont show up it really does not show much just that it read a couple files and then failed.
OMDAM can you explain abit more I have not nodding phones in a couple years or really even done any major adjusting of them if someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it
Last thing I have a question about from. What I have read the note 9 is the same phone across all carriers just different software to block and allow different bands is this correct. If so would it not be smarter to installed a unlocked or att files since cricket is att

I think by OMADM he's probably referring to an app, most likely a system app, that is responsible for this popup you are getting. I checked my Note 9 and I don't have this app as it is running on T-Mobile. It probably is a Sprint system app that gets installed with Sprint version of Android firmware.
You are correct that all Note 9 are same hardware and if unlocked, based on which carrier sim you insert in the phone, it will automatically switch system software to relevant carrier. I could be wrong but I suspect that your Note 9 was remotely unlocked by unofficial methods or else, once you had inserted cricket sim card in it, it would have automatically switched the Android to AT&T version and you would not be getting this pop up. Best way to verify that your Note 9 was unofficially unlocked or not is by either inserting Sprint sim card in it, the phone will not work with Sprint if it is unofficially unlocked or by checking the phone IMEI on Sprint BYOD portal. If you check IMEI and phone shows attached to an account or has balance, it will mean that the previous owner of the phone unofficially unlocked the phone without paying off the phone and sold it to you as an unlocked phone.
I have owned 4-5 Note 9 phones in last couple of years and I use both AT&T and T-Mobile MVNOS and whenever I switched sims, the Android software version automatically changes after reboot to match the sim carrier. I have old Verizon and Sprint sim cards lying around for testing purposes and I have checked those too with same results.

One other way you can know for sure is if you have a non-Sprint sim card lying around such as from T-Mobile or Verizon or even AT&T or their respective MVNOS (not Cricket obviously), insert that sim and reboot the phone and see if the carrier software changes away from Sprint and hopefully you will not get this popup anymore.

What version of the bootloader are you on?
What is the number of the firmware you are flashing?
Are you using the original cable that came with the phone?
So I bought a brand new Sim-free sealed note 9 from eBay last week here in Germany. Take it from the box turn the phone on and see the OPTUS logo when I power it on and then I was thrilled like WTF is this a fake phone? (didn't know what that logo is) so I searched on google and found out that is just an Australian service provider so was relaxed and then I put different SIM card in the phone and I can do phone calls and use mobile data without any problems. The only problem is that the service provider SW is Locked on Optus Australia (OPS). I downloaded different stock firmware's from SamMobile for Germany (DBT), UK (BTU) Even Australia (XSA) and still in settings at the software info/service provider is shown: OPS/OPS,OPS/OPS and every time when I turn the Phone ON/OFF the annoying OPTUS logo is shown... I tried just only flashing the CSC in Odin but still no changes... I contact the buyer on eBay and he is willing to take the phone back and full refund me. But I want to keep the phone really like the Note 9. Please help me
You have to change the CSC using a combination file ROM, as they use a multi-CSC now. In some ways, it's better than the old system but in others, it's worse.
This took me ages to figure out but after finding a guide and the right combination ROM (must match the current bootloader version else it won't boot), it worked.
Here's the thread that helped me: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...9-s9-csc-only-same-model-numbers-csc.3870836/
Look through all the comments if you have issues. I believe I mentioned, somewhere in that thread, the exact steps I took to make it work.
Newer versions of SamFirm have a combination ROM download option to simplify finding one (new SamFirm builds don't seem to be on the website yet but the guy who maintains it now also has a YouTube channel where he posts links. Seems to be fine except the very latest version seems a bit ad-filled).
Just so you're aware, the N960F shouldn't be carrier-locked. You just can't change the CSC like older phones could. S7 and Note 7 were the last Samsung phones that used the old CSC system, if I remember correctly. Getting rid of the carrier logo is worth it, though, in my opinion.
I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere already, but I've been hopping all around the forums the last few days without any luck of finding something that addresses my particular situation (and I apologize if this' the wrong place for this too)...
Phone info:
Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 9, 512gb, bought off Amazon.
Model # is SM-N960U
Android 8.1.0
Verizon Branded
It came with a Verizon SIM card, but I already have a Sprint SIM card.
My situation: I have a Sprint branded Samsung Galaxy Note 9, it got damaged, but I didn't want to upgrade to a newer model (for reasons not relevant to this) and for $200 more than the repair costs, I was able to buy the same phone, but the 512gb version...
...So I did.
However, after activating it, which means putting my Sprint SIM card in it, and following all the steps with Sprint, I could receive calls and text-only SMS messages, but I could not get my mobile data to work on the phone and decided to blame the fact that it is Verizon branded* for this
*Sprint Customer Service kept saying I need to reset the PRL, among other things, like I would on a Sprint branded Note 9, but you can't do any of that on one that's Verizon branded; the options/menu in the settings is different
...So, this led me to downloading:
Odin3 v3.14
Sprint Branded Firmware from Updato: https://updato.com/download-samsung-galaxy-note9-firmware/spr/
...Specifically, I downloaded the one dated October 29, 2018 on Updato since it seemed like the closest to what was on the phone...
...I then turned on USB debugging through the Developer Options (could not find or gain access to the OEM Unlock option though, no matter what I tried, on my phone), rebooted my phone into Download Mode, but did not "proceed" as it were, plugged my phone into my laptop, Open Odin as an Administrator, put the firmware files (i.e., BL, AP, CP, and CSC) in their respective places...
...I picked the CSC, not the Home CSC, for the CSC spot in Odin, in case you were wondering...
...and finally pressed Vol Up to "Proceed," as it were, into Download Mode and clicked start on Odin, which did its thing...
...And, after a bit, I got a green "Pass" in Odin and my phone was now in Recovery Mode, since I left the "Auto Reboot" checked in Odin...
So, I selected "Reboot Now" and... I got the Verizon Splash screen and it was like nothing had happened to the phone... Except... My Sprint Mobile Data now works on the phone...
Now, I could technically live with this and begin transferring my data from my old Sprint branded Note 9 to this new Verizon branded one, now that the mobile data works, but there are WAY to many smaller annoyances with the new phone (like how one updates the PRL) that I was hoping to fix by rebranding it as a Sprint Note 9 via Odin
...So, any advice on what I should do?
Also, I'm not married to Oreo either, I just went with that because it is what the new phone has on it as my old phone is running Android 10 with One UI 2.5... And I figured I'd update the new phone to that, via OTA, once it was rebranded too...
Just clarify:
-Is "rebranding" possible with my Note 9?
-What can I do to make it happen or what have I done that I could do differently to make it happen?
Summary Issue: Starting in March 2022, some Samsung Galaxy S20 FE devices started having connectivity issues with carriers. This specifically impacted my phone, a US Cellular-branded phone S20 FE 5G. Specifically, this was a problem for the SM-G781U model number. At some point in March, a samsung update was released that created a bug/connectivity issue affiliated with making calls or connecting to the carrier data networks.
Resolution: This issue can be resolved by flashing stock Samsung Firmware to move you to the SM-G781U1 model number. You do not need to be rooted/have your bootloader unlocked.
Skills needed: low
Note: you will need a Windows computer w. admin privileges
Steps
Download Bifrost to download the official Samsung firmware. Model: SM-G781U1 Version: XAA (this is the carrier-non-specific version)
Download the patched version of Odin
Use Odin to flash SM-G781U1 firmware to the phone. You do not need a bootloader unlock (takes around 15 minutes)
Fixed.
this is the kind of post this forum doesn't have enough of.
Thanks! My parents have been going nuts with this over the weekend. They have an unlocked T-Mo version used on AT&T. My mom took it to a store today and the idiot blamed it on the ROM and tried to sell them new phones.
I'm going to send this to my dad and have them try. I'll report back.
Thanks!
How do you get it in to download mode? I've tried the methods I've found online, but I keep ending up at the recovery screen.
NM got it.
I got it into download mode and sent the files. Log shows two files it sent, then it's just sitting there. It's been almost 15 minutes and nothing's really happening. Did I do something wrong?
Wonder if it's a Windows 11 issue.
Hi I recently purchased a refurbished phone and it won't connect to the mobile data. The first one i had do this I sent back. But now the 2nd won't either. This one says the model # is SM-G781V. Does the instructions you posted work for this model or is there something else I have to do?
Sometimes quick fix is toggle airplane mode on and off. You can reset network settings. Also look up your providers APN settings and be sure you add them in your phone and select that one.

I already tried this but sadly it doesn't fix the problem
