Is this the same whether you're on WI-FI,or a data connection?
Perhaps the resolution depends on which VZW Data plan you're on &/or,if your high-speed cap has been reached for the billing period?
IDK if the different resolutions on the various data plans apply to video chat clients, just tossin' around the possibilities..........

Yes, no matter if on wifi or cellular. Video viewed on my note 9 is amazing.. Thinking it had to do with some kind of bs compression that vzw applies... Photos on the other hand are crystal clear.
Just really frustrating to have a 1200.00 phone that I can't share HD video with anyone else.
I've even lowered the quality below HD and it still pixelates and looks like garbage

Not knowing which app you're using, but,it sounds app-related,perhaps it has to do with a size limitation on the chat client & video quality is affected.
Just taking guesses here, hoping someone will chime in with a solid explanation.

I'm assuming you are sending them an MMS - if so, they will always look crappy!
If you had an iPhone before as well, you would have been using iMessage. That system will allow much higher quality images than an MMS will, but obviously it's limited to iOS.
For Android, you'd have to use something like WhatsApp or similar (and have your friends use it too)

has nothing to do with the phone. just share videos via links. you could be on a google, one plus...etc and it would all be the same.
id be tempted to tell you to sell your phone for thinking its a device issue since it makes as much sense than thinking it was a phone problem....lol
just use samsung link sharing when you open the video, then press the share icon.
but you should definitely return the phone :cyclops:

Are you talking about SMS? If so, it pretty much compresses your video to a 10 mb file. As you can imagine, that would give you about 1 second of HD video. Any more than that, compression kicks in. The longer the video, the heavier the compression/loss of resolution. SMS is a technology from 20 years ago, it was never meant for this. They pushed it to being able to send decent quality photos, and that's about as good as you're going to get. Apple's iMessage does not use sms for iphone to iphone texting, so it may avoid the compression issue, I'm not sure. And carriers are doing away with SMS, and moving to RCS, which may help this as well.
Point is, if you are sending video over SMS, don't. The issue you are talking about has nothing to do with your phone or any phone. It has to do with limitations of SMS.

I completely understand it's a network compression issue with vzw, and not a device issue.
I love my phone but I need to have a native way to send hd videos... So either way, selling it might be the solution.
The problem that I have is that I would have to convince my bosses to use the new app, as I use my phone to document structural issues and send them to their respective management reps.
This will be nothing short of a miracle.
Why would vzw sell a Ferrari of a device, but only let it in the granny lane capabilities wise

SMS is SMS, has nothing to do with Verizon. It's not a network compression issue, its the limitation of the SMS protocol itself. You get high speed LTE with verizon, right? Verizon does not limit you from using your LTE connection for Whatsapp for example. You choose to use SMS, therefore you have to play by the rules of SMS. Again, this has nothing to do with the carrier. To further expand your analogy, that's like you buying a Ferrari and never taking it outside the confines of New York City. Your car can hit 200 mph, but you're crawling along at 10 mph. If your job requires you to send HD video to iphones and you know that iphone to iphone there is no issue, and you can't use any other app besides text apps, you probably have no choice but to get an iphone. Perhaps this will resolve when Verizon finally activates RCS messaging instead of SMS, as Tmobile is starting to do, but knowing Verizon, you'll be waiting a while. And I don't know that RCS will solve your problem, you'll have to look into it's limitations and when Verizon will actually enable it.

samsung link sharing to the rescue. yeah its 2 steps more than just adding a file to a text but it sure gets the job done quickly. guess g drive or onedrive can basically do the same thing.

Samsung Galaxy note 9 for best full screen video watching experience
Everyone i have found that the note 9 video watching experience in full screen mode is crappy and i have also found an solution for that
Step 1 is to turn on color adjustment and select personalized color option and complete the table.
This will make the washed away red colors in your full screen mode the way you see the color in any other mode
Step 2 is enable the developer options an turn on disable hardware overlay,
This will make the low light quality of the full screen mode 10 times better when watching video
Also applies for the gallery
Thats all hope this was useful for those of you whom watch video on full screen mode and have bad video quality and colors on Samsung phones,.

Thank you, the solution is great, I think it will work great.

It can be an Apple problem as most videos from diferent androids look crap on my iphone , even though the video is sharp on my macbook pro , could be anoyher ios 13 bug as there are alot still not fixed, iphone owners these days seem to be only beta testers for apple , something you dont expect with a 1500 phone ( yes i have both iphone 11 pro and note 9 and 10+ also an old nexus 6 )

Videocall, fullscreen?

Hello
Is it possible to see the person you are having a video-conversation with in fullscreen?
With that sharp high resolution VGA screen of ours, do you really need full screen? You can clearly see the detail of both video windows the way it is.
Well, yeah, but would still be nice if it is possible...
Psh, wish I had that problem. Here, stateside, AT&T has the only video calling feature available, "Video share". $4.99 for 4 minutes or $9.99 for 16 minutes per month, and it only streams one way, they can't see you if you're giving them a video stream. Stupid. And yet they'll probably remove the front facing camera on the Touch Pro, because who wants to talk to each other face to face anyways?

and you got to the moon...hmmm i begin to believe the "moon on a tv studio" theory
we do gave here full 3g and 3.5 now (don't know and don't care what's that).
video calls are taken as granted here but not many ppl are using it.
lot of pranks but that's another story..
I probably wouldn't use it that much, maybe to talk to my girlfriend who's stuck in Texas for a few weeks but that's about it... I just don't understand why it's not available. I mean, not to say you're not ahead of us, but it's not like Europe blows us away in technological ability... We have 3G pretty much nation wide here, and the phones we have certainly have the capability for a front mounted camera... But they get removed (ie Tilt).

I hear what your saying - Same problem in the UK, its available but not used all that much. I remember those 3g news articles many years ago touting one of the main features of 3g being video calling!
Considering you can video conference over 64k isdn im not sure why it couldn't have been done with Edge!
Full screen would be nice tho!
it's really useful for internet which is not soo painfully slow as gprs
I think the problem is a lack of applications to drive the use of Video calling. Here in Dubai, we have 3G and 3.5G everywhere (KuKuriKu: 3.5 gives you data speeds of up to 7.2 mbps on your mobile if configured properly on the network). The service is available everywhere and most phones on the market come with two cameras and the service itself is very inexpensive yet usage is still quite low. I'm a heavy user and I find that the only time I use the front camera is for MMS- only used video call in the beginning when it was a novelty (apart from the occasional need to tease someone when you're at the pub and they're stuck at the office when only live video will suffice )
Sooo, no one has a suggestion how its done? full screen videocall? :s
well, I'm interested too, in Kaiser videocall settings you are able to set fullscreen videocall, but in our Diamond there are only two options: both pictures (large or small). I was looking for a registry key or something else... anyone?? Thanks.

Does the front facing camera suck or does it suck

Ok so I love face timing on my iPod and iPad with friends and family and recently I decided to give it a go on my Note with Skype on my iPod and the results sucked.
First of all I see the image from my iPod's camera in my note but not my note's camera on my iPod which is super weird
Next is the front facing camera sucks, the resolution is so low, I know its a 2 Mega pixel cam but I'm sure its not suppose to look like a no pixel cam. The image is very grayed out its visibale to see but very grayed out. Is it just my phone or is it like that for every one or is there like a setting
Is there an alternative apply or something?

Open the camera app and switch it around so it's using the front camera. How does it look? If it looks good, then you probably have a software problem, or skype problem.
I haven't tried Skype on the Note yet, but I recall it downsamples quite a bit on Android!
Using windows Skype scales the quality in order to keep up with the network's speed.
Maybe it tries the same on Android. Were you on wifi?
How's Google Talk?
Yea I was on wifi and no I didn't try google talk but anyways its not about skype its about the camera quality like when I try for self portrait with friends and stuff it with sucks, can it be adjusted in the settings because I don't think its low lighting

If you mean the image is less saturated, you are right.
I find this more than acceptable for a frontfacing camera.
Did you take all the plastic film off?
I quickly snapped a pic, so you can compare.
Cheers,
Daan
edit: XDA Scales it down a bit! But for color comparison it should do okay.
Yea its kinda like in the picture you showed, its a 2megapixel cam should it suck that much???

Two megapixel is just not that good. Even with a good lense it won't be very high quality. There is just too little information stored.
The frontfacing camera in phones are always lower quality.
Two megapixel is really a lot for a frontfacing cam.
I wouldn't say it "sucks". It performs better than any other frontfacing cam I ever owned.
Touch Diamond, Hero, SGS, Incredible S.
If you want more saturation maybe you can use a different camera app.
Camera 360 for example, maybe that has more settings.
Still, don't expect high quality pics from any frontfacing cam on a phone on the market right now.
i think it looks awesome. i have done video chat on skype on H+ signal and the video quality is great. output from my end is always great both on video calls to the uk and usa. But video input from the uk was good although usa video was poor but that was their internet speeds that was causing trouble.
i have tried it multiple times as my child likes to do the video chat and finds it fun, so we just log into skype on laptop with my wifes account (connected via wifi) and on the phone (connected via H+) with my account and my child enjoys video chat.
I frankly doubt that video could get better on any current phone or probably even laptop for skype video calls.
for reference over 3g connection (i sometimes get 3g but most times get better H or H+ connection) with uploads speeds ranging from 2600kbps to 3500kbps and download speeds ranging between 3600kbps to 6000kbps and my wifi speeds (for laptop via landline) for downloads are about half that and upload speeds are about 3-4 times slower! having an unlimited data connection helps as i dont keep count of the data used now.
photos and videos shot even in a slightly dark room are good too from the front facing camera.
do you have a screensaver film applied over the front facing camera that is spoiling the image???? common mistake on new laptops where people complain about webcam quality but would have forgot to take protective film from the lense off after removing it from the packaging.

No I don't have any film on my cam, I rather video chat over my phone than my laptop as 1 the laptop screen is too big making the picture from the other end really blur and its also heavy to carry around the house. Its much more convinient to do video calls over my note as the screen is bigger than a phone but smaller than a tablet sorta making it the almost perfect size for video chat, I'm wondering is there any alternative to skype where an ipad and my galaxy note can video chat

Same here. I was never the type of person to have long phone conversations anyway, but I use my phone less and less for phone calls these days.
What used to require a phone call, or multiple calls, is now usually done using sms, email, facebook messages, online chat, whatsapp etc.
If you wanted to organise to go out tonight or something, it used to take maybe 3 or 4 phone calls to check who was available, when and where everyone could, or wanted to go etc., now you can do a group message or chat and get it organised with a lot less time and effort and you don't have to actually catch someone when they are free to talk.
Sms still uses the phone network though, but it's use is declining due to most people having Whatsapp, facebook messaging etc. available on their mobile and costing less. But we'll still need the data network to remain.
In regards to name, I, and most people I know, just call them "mobiles" now, which is still a shortened version of "mobile phone" which everyone is aware of, but for anyone who just landed on the planet, there is no phone reference there.

Actually, I bought my Note online. But to address your point, if I were to go to the local T-Mobile shop, I'd ask for a new "mobieltje", which translates to "mobile". The phone part of mobile phone is almost a vestige, especially with VOIP & Whatsapp becoming more popular. Although it is sometimes called a smartphone, so I guess there's that.
Still, if I had to choose between dropping the phone network or the data connection on my Note... well, you can guess my answer!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Cell Phone" redirects here. For the film, see Cell Phone (film). For the Handphone film, see Handphone (film). A mobile phone (also known as a cellular phone, cell phone and a hand phone) is a device that can make and receive telephone calls over a radio link whilst moving around a wide geographic area. It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile phone operator, allowing access to the public telephone network. By contrast, a cordless telephone is used only within the short range of a single, private base station. In addition to telephony, modern mobile phones also support a wide variety of other services such as text messaging, MMS, email, Internet access, short-range wireless communications (infrared, Bluetooth), business applications, gaming and photography. Mobile phones that offer these and more general computing capabilities are referred to as smartphones

taking the last few words of it REFERRED TO AS smartphones. they have nothing to do with the mobile devices, they just got the word Phone on their name because of the pre-evolution state of been. as you would say the human race, apes. we did may evolve from them but we are a new species in the evolution Lader.
because their purpose of the device isn't anymore to call someone, or send a SMS. and this wasn't enough for you just thing the
reason you have bought your last multimedia device. was it is the good quality phone calls? was it the better signal reception? or was it the keyboard layout for better SMS writing? or was it the bigger display to see movies/webbrowsing or the better cpu-gpu (soc) for better gaming?
so now can you see the whole picture?
or am I blind?

Whenever I take out my Note anybody around(especially Girls) gets her attention immediately towards me.

For me it's a smartphone because although I use the phone part less and less it is still important to me. Yes I chose the Note because of all it's features (big screen, connectivity, office capabilities...). Nonetheless the phone functionality is a basic requirement. If the note did not come with the phone functionality I would not even have considered buying it. No phone is a no go, I absolutely need a device that can make phone calls.

It is a phone. I spend between an hour and four hours every day using it as ... a phone!
The fact that I can do a great deal more with it, and it regularly replaces the need for a camera, mp3 player, kindle, video recorder and even a laptop, is a massive bonus, and the reason I bought it.
But it's still a phone!
I recall a friend of mine telling me his son had a new smart phone. He used every single function on it apart from the phone itself! That was because he had no social life ...
I don't call my Note a phone (even though I use it as one!).
It's My Preciousssss.

Sony Xperia X Performance on the T-Mobile Network setup question

Hello,
I'd like to buy the X Performance when it comes out and use it on my current T-Mobile network. Since I'll be buying the phone unlocked, I understand I will need to input certain "setup" info for the phone to work properly. I actually know how to enter in everything and also WHAT to enter too.......... the APN info, Voicemail, etc.
What I DON'T know how to do is enter in the following fields and where to enter them in too:
Short Message Service (SMS)
SMS Email: [email protected]
Email center: 500
Where do I go to enter those on a Sony phone?? Or, will my T-Mobile SIM card just automatically enter these in for me? Please explain.
Thank You!!

Seems like a very premature question. You might have to wait a few months for the phone to be released to get this answer. Can I have your Galaxy S7 when you get the XP?

lol What up Puff?
Well I actually got the answer I believe on the T-Mobile forum site. Someone there said they never had to that stuff and they have an unlocked phone too. I think I may have to do the APN part, but I have all that info now anyway. So it should be ok.
Yeah.......... it was just announced TODAY that the X Performance is being released GLOBALLY (including U.S. I believe) the FIRST week of July. F M L. lol
Xperia X range release dates in Europe
Xperia X – Late May 2016 (week commencing 23 May)
Xperia XA – Late June 2016 (week commencing 20 June)
Xperia X Performance – Early July 2016 (week commencing 4 July)
Haha have? No. But I WILL be selling it on eBay. lol What sucks is by then it will be worth a little less so that's less money I'll have to put towards the X Performance. Really p's me off that they're taking THIS long to release it when it was announced back in FEB. The S7 is great but there a few things that I don't like about it that are an issue for me. If you want to know more, let me know.
I don't get why they'd release it last too? It's the best of the 3 phones, so why release it LAST? Especially with the Z series now being history. Sony..........makers of great phones, employers of the world's biggest ****-tards for marketing and sales. No TV ads, no........but let's put our generic/lightweight ads on the internet only. Umm...... that's NOT how it works. The only ppl who will see those ads are the ones who are ACTIVELY seeking Sony phones. You need to get the name out there. Get some big celebrities like Clooney or Lawrence to do your ads, and make them COOL not idiotic like that new LG G5 one with Jason Statham. lol Until then, they could AT LEAST put THIS sweet ad on American TV. I think it trumps all their "usual" ads on YouTube by miles. Love the music on it too. Actually "sells" the Predictive Hybrid Autofocus rather well too without having to try so hard.

Puff,
1) Screen Brightness: Under heavy sunlight, the screen brightness on the S7 is f'ign awful. Squint (your eyes) City. lol My Z3's screen brightness S*IT on the S7's.
2) Fast But Not Fast lol: Touchwiz is not that great. Yeah the S7 is very fast for downloads, but I compared the speed of jumping around from app to app on the homescreen vs. doing the same thing on my parents' Xperia Z1s (released January 2014), and THEIR phone was loading things up faster. For real. lol That lag is all Touchwiz. Plus although the Settings Menu is better than before, I still find it more confusing to navigate through than Sony's or HTC's are.
3) Audio Issues (and I'm an Audiophile......Lite lol): First off, the speaker. It's F'ING GOD AWFUL!!! Seriously. There's only one speaker, and it's facing down. Drum sounds render on it like the sound of someone shooting a laser gun. lol Then there's the headphone issue. Using the 3.5mm port is fine, but I use an "in-between" portable amp/DAC device which hooks up to my smartphone and headphones via Micro USB. While listening to music this way, at least once every few minutes (sometimes more), I will hear a hiccup or skip. I pay GOOD money for my Hi-Res music, and the S7 is taking the enjoyment away from me everyday I'm STUCK with it until the XP comes out (a nice big F U to Sony Mobile's execs for deciding to release the FLAGSHIP X phone LAST)! Oh, and using that same setup to watch YouTube videos? Forget it. Hiccup? Try "mad stutter" to the point where it's not even worth it. This makes the screen brightness issue not seem so bad. lol
4) Home Button: This might be more a preference thing, but I've come to realize I DO NOT LIKE physical home buttons. I'd found an app that makes the physical home button act like a virtual one, but it only seems to work 60-70% of the time. So since it's not 100%, this for me becomes yet another issue I have with this phone.
That's pretty much everything I guess. Samsung Pay is kinda cool, the camera is fantastic, wireless charging is kinda kewl too, looks pretty premium too (cuz they finally did what Sony's been doing FOR YEARS and stopped making plastic-bodies phones lol), but I know the XP's camera will be great, and wireless charging is no big deal to me at all (the free one I got from Samsung is not even QC 2.0). They say Samsung may make Samsung Pay available to other phones, so if that happens, I'll probably get it again on Sony, but if not, I won't lose any sleep either. But at the stores, ppl do seem interested in watching me use it. lol It BY FAR is the best mobile pay method there is. It works every time., and you can set it up to be activated via fingerprint which saves you a couple seconds of not having to enter in your passcode.
Hope that helps!
I'm surprised to hear you say the screen doesn't get bright enough. All of the phone comparisons I've seen on YouTube indicate that it's the brightest of the major manufacturers.
I need a loud speaker though because I like showing YouTube videos to my wife and listening to music in the shower. It needs to overcome background noise fairly well.
How does it fit in your hand though? Comfortable one hand operation is key for me.

Puff,
It might come as a surprise, but it's the truth. Under heavy sunlight, I can barely see my screen. At 100% brightness, my S7 is maybe only 75-80% as bright as my Z3 was. And judging by this video comparison of the Z5 vs. the X (X & XP have the same screen I believe), the XP should be PLENTY bright. (Watch it all if you like, but in particular, make sure you check out 3:35 - 4:25).
The S7's speaker IS loud....... so you don't have to worry about that. It just doesn't sound very good is all. For showing your wife YouTube videos, the XP would be the clear winner there. STEREO front-facing speakers that are also very clear................vs. a downward facing speaker that isn't. But again, that's just my opinion. I felt the Z3's speakers were plenty loud (like the M8's), so I don't see it being a problem. Plus the XP like the S7 will be waterproof.
The S7 fits pretty well in my hand. I can't complain there. The S7 Edge that I had briefly before it was too big plus there's no way to deactivate the edge screens, so I'd constantly be accidentally starting up apps or hitting virtual buttons on screen while watching videos.
Let me know if you have any more questions, and what you think of that video too.

I don't know if it's that they don't care, it's just that those features (regardless of which brand phone it is) are carrier-specific, not phone-specific. I just confirmed with a T-Mobile supervisor that information, so unfortunately it sounds like if I get the XP I won't get HD Voice or VoLTE. Sux but oh well. I love the phone too much to give that stuff up. If I get it and am unhappy with it, then I'll just get the T-Mobile HTC 10 instead. A very close 2nd IMO. But the XP has a better camera, so since I don't make many calls, the XP still sounds better.

km8j,
Some GOOD news..........despite my discovery that the X series will not have VoLTE, I found out it's really not an issue at all. Having VoLTE used to mean you could browse and connect to the internet WHILE ON a call. Before you couldn't do both. But I just tested out an Xperia Z1s which does NOT have VoLTE on it, and tried to browse the net and use apps like GMail app while on a call...... and apparently now you CAN do both at the same time even w/o having VoLTE!! So really, it's not a big deal at all!
VoLTE helps to connect your calls faster too, but if I have to wait a few more seconds, so be it.

This is not factually accurate. For years, GSM has been able to handle simultaneous voice and data. The issue is, without VoLTE, when you make a call and are on LTE, the data signal falls back to HSPA, which is far slower and less reliable. So yes you can do data at the same time but not as fast. Also, b12 not being supported means not as good signal in areas where that is deployed. VoLTE offers shorter call connect times, yes but also higher quality audio, more reliability and more.

Oh geez, you're RIGHT km8j!! lol I just realized while reading your post that yeah VoLTE DOES let you stay in 4G LTE while on a call. Thanks. lol Yeah not as fast.
b12??
Ok yeah....... better quality calls too. Oh well. lol I found out now that Verizon and Sprint just got that recently, so that's prob why I remembered not being able to do both at the same time. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile in Feb of 2014. When I had Verizon, they did not yet have that option, only AT&T and T-Mobile did. So that affected my statements made.

Sony once again has no band 12? So service with t mobile isn't 100% supported and may see signal drop in areas where t mobile branded phones will still have signal.

No brotha........ they might have 1700 too, but I know FOR SURE they have Band 12/700 MHz cuz I've been following that s*it for a while now. Even on that T-Mo map link I just sent you it says "Officially announced markets where 700 MHz band 12 network has been deployed have a circled 12 placed on them."
So don't worry about that. lol As long as you live in an area on the map on that page that has it now, you'll have it with the XP too, if you were to get it I mean.
No. Just because the hardware supports it, doesn't mean it will work. T-Mobile has to certify it. Sony won't go through that. They don't care

As above the ideal way to use the xperia p is pretty much on Att. And even then you're lacking features. Is there anything in the near future standardizing LTE bands?

I don't understand. If the network has it, and the phone supports, why wouldn't it work?? This isn't VoLTE, this is something the phone actually has. So according to you, the 2G and 3G networks wouldn't work then b/c Sony didn't have them certified through T-Mobile either...which means you wouldn't even be able to make calls on it.
Not only does this site say that both the phone and T-Mobile match up with regards to Band 12, even GSM Arena's specs sheet for the XP states it has Band 12. So I have a hard time understanding how it won't work.

MGS,
Well AT&T is fine too as they (like T-Mobile) are also a GSM-based network carrier. Both are equally compatible with the XP per that site I linked you earlier.
I would hope that in the NEAR future all phone makers make HD Voice & VoLTE standard. My guess as to why that hasn't happened yet is that it would cost more money and the phone makers know that not all markets actually have these options yet. But they should just include them anyway as that is changing everyday.

Really
Cool
Stuff.......... OR..........
This..https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/what-is-rcs-messaging/
??
RCS is a poor excuse for a joke on Android users. It is not viable and will never be. Forget it and use some other platform for what you want like WhatsApp or Signal. One day you have RCS (whatever they claim it to be) and then you wake up and it's gone for good. That's why Apple is where it is, it works for everyone no hacks needed.
RCS has been fine for me after a few hiccups. If it says connecting you could try switching to airplane mode and turning it off and that does the trick sometimes. If it doesn't work then you'd need to turn airplane mode on and force stop carrier services and clear data/cache. Then force stop messenger and clear data and cache and turn airplane mode off and launch messenger again and that will do it. RCS on the Pixel 4/4XL is actually being handled by Google vs our carriers this time around. So hopefully Google gets their act together and gets RCS to work for everyone without issues.
Who in their right mind would do that? If it doesn't work bag it Google.
for some reason I had to reflash the factory image for February, this is a warranty replacement and out of the box it just was buggy but everything is perfect now

People that aren't aboard the RCS hate train and don't want to use WhatsApp or other third party chat apps. I get it, you don't like RCS and I don't blame you. It's still in its infancy and will take some time to get up and running universally. It takes me a whole 20-30 seconds to do what I described in my post. I haven't had to do it for months now and RCS has been rock solid for me. Hopefully overtime it will be ironed out even further and it'll work how it's supposed to right out of the box without any tinkering.
It's no so much the hate train as it is the lame train. If it doesn't work for everyone it doesn't work. Figure it out and then roll it out. How hard would that be to do? Yes, it's a novel concept but they should give it a try.
The point about doing the hack is that 99% of users would never do that. And the carriers could not care less and are working on their own implementation. So basically it's going nowhere. No hate just reality.
The carriers and so many Android devices, it's a pain yes... apple has one company, a web of the same devices, so iMessage is so universql and easily implemented. if every device shipped with Android messages by default that would fix a big part of it I think... but Android is open source and and every manufacturer wants to add their own touch
No problems here. "Chat message" shows up in the few people I know that have it working. I do know it sometimes doesn't work on WiFi depending on the network. The hospital I work at, for example, drops out to regular text.

Give it a try. I'm reluctant to erase my Fi eSim simply because their tech support is atrocious and if something happens I'm on my own. But the Verizon sim is easy to pop out and in. I believe it will work but that's really not a good answer or great scenario.
I've had issues with media being compressed even though RCS is enabled for both phones. Dark blue bubbles and everything but photos and videos are heavily compressed. The other sender is on Verizon. Is there any known issues with Verizon?

Can you check the size of the photos you've sent and received recently? I noticed some degradation and sure enough when I checked the file size it's compressed even though RCS is connected, enabled and my chat bubbles are dark blue. At first I noticed it from a Verizon carrier but now I'm noticing it to other carriers to.

So just tested both video (45 and 20 seconds of 4K) and picture sending over RCS. Looks like the resolution decrease big time to only 852x480. I could've sworn they were larger. Quality during playback was fine though. Pictures came out 1600x1200 and looked fine as well. We're both on Sprint.
