Before the upgrade I've read many posts about people bragging having twice longer SOT.
So OTA eventually flew in.
After the upgrade I did factory reset and spent few days with just a basic functionality, a little bit of YouTube, email etc.
Surprise #1. I was getting 5-6 hours of SOT. Few days in a row.
So I started installing all my apps.
Surprise #2. My SOT returned back to the same ol' 3hrs of SOT.
Conclusion: do not install any apps and get a decent SOT

Well, it's obvious then that one of your apps is causing the issue. Don't blame the phone

My battery life has been MUCH better on Pie.
Same here, better battery on pie.
I have great SoT on Pie, but my data is off most of the time, i uninstalled quite a few bloat apps using adb (not rooted) and have set most apps to not sync in background, except mail, Instagram, etc. I generally get around 7 hrs SoT with 60 to 70 odd hours between charges.

No change in battery life. It was fine for me (approx. 6hr sot) on Oreo and remains fine on Pie.

when DC v2.08.1 came out i downloaded it just like all the other DC ROMS prior. At first i noticed some improvements in battery and performance, but after a few days of using it i decided to check what has been using the battery in settings.. this is what i came across

crazy thing is i hadn't used the camera that day... i monitored it for the next few days and still no matter what i do on the phone throughout the day, it always shows these same stats.. the great thing about all this is my battery would last past 24 hours no matter what i did on the phone..
i ended up flashing DC v2.09.1 (cause im a flashaholic) and couldn't get the same results.. well i decided to nandroid back to 2.08.1 but i lost the battery performance i was getting before... when i checked whats been using the battery, it would show normal things that i've used and cell standby and phone idle would be back to about 40% each... so i decided to wipe and reflash DC v2.08.1.. low and behold, after about 3 days, its back to 96% camera, 2% cell standby, and 2% phone idle.
my question is does anyone know how, or why this is happening?? im loving how long my battery last and the speed of my phone because of this.. i just wanna make sure it stays like this.. or maybe how to make this happen on other ROMs cause im sure im gonna flash another one again soon...
(oh and by the way, im not missing any phone calls, text messages, or emails.. everything is working perfectly)
It happened to me a few times while on dc, rebooting would set it back to normal.
I read around here somewhere that ir wasit was a sense bug..i forget where...
I don't have any useful information sadly.

rebooting doesnt change anything for me (which is a good thing)..
Now that you mention it, I had the same experience, yet didn't realize it at the time, being new to rooting/roms/etc...i have lately been using stock 2.1 rooted without updating..and really noticed the difference in battery life. Got me thinkin' now.
My device is not very old. It's about 1 year now and battery isn't as good as it used to be. When I got it after school I had minimum 50% no matter what I've been doing and atm it's 24% which is disturbing.

Check for battery health in 7378423 to see if it had any wear out in battery capacity. Mine is 31460 (1+ year, when buy it is 32000, Sony is always add more to make the battery last longer )
And check for any apps that run out of battery, malware too (There are some Android malware which mine Bitcoin/Litecoin and make phone hot and run out of battery)
Also check your kernel setting or reflash ROM if nessesary.......
Mine is 1,5-2 day battery life with typical behavior.......
Well, my battery says 31440 when at 86% of charge. I haven't got many wake locks in betterbatterystats either so I'm not sure what could be the cause. I'm on stock kernel. Thanks for the heads up on that mining malware. I had no idea it went over to mobile devices. My phone actually gets a bit hot after some regular usage, but nothing out of ordinary I guess. I did lots of mods to the stock rom on my own so I'm not that keen on reflashing. I'd rather find out what could be the cause of that poor battery life and fix it by myself.
Any other suggestions and things to try?
You can reinstall your Firmware, and see if the battery life would be better. And my Wakelocks have i solved with the App DS Battery Saver.
Strangely enogh my battery was at 2880 after only 140 charge cycles.
Then by accidient it deep discharged (problems with not charging, hard reset etc. until it was fully 100% dead) and now is back at 3130 with only the first charge cycle counted as 1.
Not the case here since your's has a good number, but I wanted to add this information.
Hey guys, my Moto X used to be able to get OK battery, but since the 7.5 update, I lose 15-20% over a five hour period, which is quite disappointing. any fixes?

All of a sudden for me too, GPS is now eating up to 15% of my battery and the Android OS is at 11%... I noticed this this morning. The only thing I installed last night was Greenify...
Quite similar to what I have. Android system and Android os always on top

This is new for me. I normally have pretty crap battery life but services and OS are normally never this high. The battery on my phone is so hit or miss. It 's behavior seriously changes daily. I don't get it.

By the way, it got me to 8.30pm yesterday before I had to charge. As bad and inconsistent the battery is, at the very least I can say it gets me to dinner without too much babying. I'm just concerned when it drains much quicker than usual which means I can't use it as much for it to survive.
Hello fellow Moto X users! I want to buy a Moto X 2014 Pure Edition. Since this is my first smartphone, I have read several reviews online as well as the reviews of the people who have bought it from the online store. The phone looks great on paper except the battery, but since the software is optimized and mostly stock, I believe the battery is finer than those of pesky Samsung phones. I do not want to spend too much, neither do I have a taste for skinned Android experience.
There's one issue though, I haven't been able to get a clear picture of what the smartphone's battery is like. Some websites like GSMArena have claimed the web browsing time to be 9+ hours on Lollipop, while some other discussions on reddit point out to screen on time of 4-5 hours. I need help because this is the only great device I can buy for the limited money I can spend.
I request someone on the latest Lollipop firmware to post statistics of their battery life. If you can show me the variation of battery over WHOLE 24 HOURS with Screen ON Time over that period, I'll be very happy. I expect this phone to provide me 4-5 hours of screen on time over 18-24 hour period.
Thanks.
BUMP!
ANYONE? Please? Just a screenshot of screen on time and overall time?

Not much to go by really. When I was working I had wifi on 24/7. The 5h+ SoT is purely on weekends when I just read on it, not doing anything else.
And I were you, I'd wait till Aug-Sep when Moto X 2015 comes out (has a 3400mAH~ battery). Other than that with mixed use of reading, tapatalk, spotify, web, mail checking and skype I'd reach around 5hrs of SoT by the end of the day.
Edit: I use Temaseks CM 12.1 set at 380 DPI. Stock ROM lacks the customization for my taste.
update: this was from the CM 12.1 Temasek build from 0530
This was done with reading on fanfiction reader only, nothing else.

OK, so I have a 920I running 5.1.1, and today I was almost fully on mobile data. And I got truly, down to earth, horrible battery life. How bad you might ask? 1 percent every ten minutes. 6 percent an hour. In standby. SOT stood at 1h 20m.

So, anyone have any explanation? I barely have any apps on here: WhatsApp, Clash Royale and Clans, Snapchat (not logged in) and Tapatalk. Thats it. I just factory reset the phone last week too.
Im starting to think there's something with my Google account, as poor battery life seems to carry over on every Android device I own. My gmail account is particularly old, since 2007 if im not wrong, so perhaps theres an issue with that?
Nevertheless, ANY suggestions are welcome.

It seems you played that new supercell game a lot.
Try package disabler pro? That usually helps with battery or try wipe cache and finally if those dont work than try reeset phone.

Not nearly enough to make the phone's battery suck this bad. My Moto X takes only a very slight hit when playing.
