Unfortunately while flashing a new recovery my phone died bricking it. Even worse for me, I don't currently have any rom on it so it couldn't boot into anything after that point. To attempt to recover from this I followed this guide, and have successfully gotten the X526 stock rom booting. However, I am unable to get to developer options to enable the OEM unlock option as I can't skip the initial setup. Every time I hit skip the attached warning shows up & prevents me from exiting setup. If anyone has an ideas as to what I could try that would be amazing!
SOLUTION:
I am unsure why this worked, but moving the SIM card from the rightmost slot to the leftmost slot enabled the network. Once the network is enabled, instead of skipping setup just setup the google account and you can get around this warning.
Warning:
The system has detected that you might have performed an unsafe factory reset or system update. Make sure that the network connection is normal and that you sign in with the same Google account that was accessed during the last session. The phone won't start properly if the login fails due to Google's security policies.

Go to fastboot and try oem unlock commands

I know there are a couple screen lock's on the market place but they are junk from what I read and can be bypassed by just restarting the phone. Is there a way to password your screen other then the pattern lock. I would like to use an actual password. Would it be possible to come up with something with a rooted phone?
You can achieve that with PocketShield 3.3 (currently beta) by setting the following options:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

}

Edit: Sorry, wrong forum. This is for Windows Mobile only.
Although this method can still be circumvented because the phone will be unlocked momentarily before the security app loads... perhaps difficult to circumvent but possible nevertheless.
It does depend on what you want to secure... setting a SIM PIN may meet your needs and is surely more secure (on the radio side of the game) than any app you can download.
Perhaps the combination of the two would provide the security you need?
Keep in mind, if you use an app this will not prevent somebody booting into recovery and taking all of your data. A SIM PIN won't prevent this either but at least your SIM data and your radio (carrier) connection will always be safe. If they take your data then they can log on as you. Take care to secure your nandroid backups too!
Hi,
I recieved my S21 Ultra yesterday and sucessfully rooted it using the guide/youtube tutorial.
Today, I restarted the device and upon restarting it would go into a bootloop with a small message on top saying:
'Custom binary blocked due to remaining installment balance'
After searching, there are sources saying that this is due to the device being on finance or not fully paid. But I have fully paid for the device.
I had to flash stock FW using ODIN and it would now boot up and is working fine,
But then I try to root again, but Odin will get stuck on OMR when flashing prism.img

The download mode would say something along the lines of:
custom binary(VBMETA) blocked due to remaining installment balance
Also in the developer options I do not see the OEM unlock option anymore, and doing the tutorial to show this is not working either.
Any help would be appriciated.

I am trying with latest FW
Hi all. Great forum btw. I've spent days browsing the material, yet, I've still messed up my device.
I attempted to root the S10, unlocking the bootloader etc, however, I messed up the patched image part and ended up in a boot loop. The mistake I then made when in the download area was locking the bootloader again. I know, I'm an idiot.
Despite flashing the phone with stock firmware using Odin, when the phone boots up it says it's can't apply a Managed Service because the phone has, or did have, a custom OS on it.
I've tried all sorts via ADB, Odin etc, but I'm stuck. The worst part of it is that it's a work phone, and I'm not sure how I'm going to explain myself to the IT department if I can't fix this myself - eek!
Help! Any help is really appreciated. Below are a few pics of the areas I can get to, plus the messages I get when I try and boot the phone normally.
Thanks for reading this.
(I can get to these areas fine, but despite factory resets and trying all the other options, I can't progress)

Hello all
I have a problem with my phone. After starting the day all normal, tried to install an app for my job (KeyAccess Pass) to enter the building and etc, left my phone by side and continue to work. After some time, I've realised the my phone was off, tried to power on and since then stuck in the screen bellow.
More info: probably bootloader locked, no root, stock rom MIUI 12.5.something updated with OTA almost 2 months before. Tried power + volume+ and power + volume-, nothing different.

if you still have an active warranty, id suggest to check in at a service center.
try accessing safe mode (power on then voldown). most of the different boot modes require a 2nd vibe tick, is it still locked out? if you do get in, try formatting data via recovery. if not, yeah the service center is literally the only way with a locked bootloader.
Thanks for the reply. No warranty for me, and I'm locked out yet, so I will think a bit if I will go to the service center or buy another phone...

Bump
Despite i don't own this device, i can try helping:
you could try to get out of fastboot by pressing all of the hardware buttons (always works in my case) and the phone will attempt rebooting.
Not sure if this whole dm-verity disabling caused the device to go numb (i own one with dm-verity) and it gets a bit hard when i used to try and flash a different custom OS by disabling storage encryption.
Not even aware if this thing involves reflashing again the firmware, but i found a neat post that could disable dm-verity for every android device
Edit:
in case of struggle with reflashing stuff and start all from scratch, MTKClient can be of help
