Note 9 OTA updates and CSC region - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Greetings, I'm new to Samsung. I was always an HTC consumer before. All have been rooted and manually updated, but I'm trying to go about things differently for a little while with the Note 9.
I'm just wondering if the OTA updates are rolled out via CSC, and are they only rolled out to specific CSC's in each country? I have a SM-N960F with CSC : N960FOXM2ARK2
I'm currently living in Ireland, not Germany.
My current software version is AP: N960FXXS2ARK2
CP: N960FOXM2ARK2
Still on November security update.
Just browsing I thought I should at least be on a higher Oreo update, if not pie already.
Just want to make sure I don't have to go a different route or just wait. Any insight would be appreciated!

I would follow this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78660727&postcount=384
so first update to Oreo Arl3 then to Pie CSA2
then keep an eye on the main thread for future updates

Thank you for the link, I did see a couple posts like this, and lost the link. Though, I was more curious how the update process worked with the CSC to try and troubleshoot a bit. Of course, very easy to flash a zip, just wondered why a brand new, unaltered phone would not find an update.

Need the current firmware for note 8 Singapore XSP

Last week I installed a requested security update after that I root and installed a custom rom but unfortunately I restart the phone and send me to 7 days jail now when I try to reflash the original firmware became an error sw rev. binary 2 binary 3 I been downloading the current firmware from samfirm but I still have the problem look like samfirm has the 2017 /20/12 it still don't have the current firmware, or what can be wrong?
Thank you in advance!
Jose
If it's an older fw then you probably can't downgrade. If SamFirm doesn't have the new version then have you checked other places like sammobile?
Thank you for the reply, I mean Sammobile that's where I been downloading the firmware but it seems that the don't have the current update, is any other place where I can get the current firmware?

You can also try Updato (.com), or the SamFirm tool (google it) for Samsung firmware downloads, although I am not sure if they have anything more recent than Sammobile. Worth checking though. Worst case, those sites should eventually post the updated firmware you installed, but I am not sure how long it takes for them to appear. I can't imagine it taking too long. If not maybe someone else can chime in
Thank you, still have no luck I guess I have to wait until sammobile release the new firmware with the January security update for Singapore (XSP)

CSC to T-Mobile on Exynos Pie update

I know the official pie update is just coming out and that fixes will not be immediate. Just looking for thoughts, opinions, or an actual way to do this.
I have a newer N950FD in the US and was about to root and then flash the tmobile or XAA CSC using a tool on xda. Of course the Pie update is now out and I’m not sure this tool will work. It seems like these kinds of utilities need to be updated for the new OS. What are the chances the CSC changer will work on pie? How hard would it be for a newb with support to patch this utility with the proper files?
This is the CSC utility that is EOL. I know they were updating it when Oreo came out, but I’m not sure if it was just the CSC file itself or something more involved.
Thanks for any help. Hopefully this will get things moving.

Samsung S10 AT&T (G973U) not getting updates since 1 August, 2019 Security Patch

Hey guys.
I bought my phone from AT&T retail shop in the US last year. But unfortunately I had to move back to my home country. Ever since the August 2019 Security Patch, I have yet to get any update. The AT&T website indicates that my phone is due to get an update in December 2019 but I have yet to get it.
Is there a way I can resolve this. Whenever I check for updates, it indicates that my phone is up to date. This happens also when I use Smart Switch application.
Samsung S10, Snapdragon 855
Model: G973U
Baseband Version: G973USQS2ASGK
Thanks in advance.
August? You are like 4 or 5 updates behind! Android 10 is out for the S10 now. You're probably going to have to flash the latest firmware using the patched version of Odin floating around the forum here.

Unfortunately since August. But thank you for this insight..I have been searching for days on what I should do. Though I would like to know when I do flash using Odin, will I start getting updates or do I need to update manually every time.
Also if there is any other way of solving this problem without having to flash my phone I am willing to give it a shot.
Flash whenever you want, but it will reset your phone unless CSC_home is used. You might get updates after flashing with Odin as long as your SIM card matches the firmware (i.e. T-mobile firmware and SIM), but then again you might be stuck using Odin to update every time.

SM-N950F Note 8 UK update help

Hi,
I have a note 8 (SM-N950F) UK. It's unlocked and is still on Android 8.0.0 and the security patch version is 01/04/2018.
When I try do an OTA update it says I've got the latest version of the software installed. I've downloaded Samsung Smart Switch and and that says "Your device software is up to date: RD7(XEU)
I don't think my note 8 has a OEM version of the rom on it. (When I originally got it, I believe it was on the EE network, but wasn't locked to that network).
I was wondering if anybody can help me with the fact i can't seem to update it to Android version to 9 or update the security software.
The details are:
AP: N950FXXU3CRD7
CP: N950FXXU3CRB9
CSC: N950FOXM3CRDC
Don't really know what the above means, but would like to update the ROM to Android 9.
Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
Terry.

BACKUP First!!
On PC: (computer)
-Download samfirm.exe or frija
-Download latest Odin version (can be found in sammobile.com firmware section or google search)
-Open up samfirm.exe or frija use : SM-N950F and XEU in the search fields and download file (~4.8 GB File) and unzip the zip file.
-Open Odin and put PHONE in download mode and connect to PC.
-Place the 4 files in its correct place:
BL = BL-FILE
AP = AP-FILE
CP = CP-FILE
CSC = CSC-FILE or HOME-CSC FILE **
** CSC-FILE WILL DELETE EVERYTHING and bring back to factory settings (like doing factory reset!) Backup first before choosing this file.
** HOME-CSC FILE will keep data intact
So choose only ONE File!!!
If you run into bugs after update do a factory reset!
They're YouTube guides on how to use Odin and samfirm.exe or frija!
But beware that you CAN NOT go back to android 8 period! So make sure that you really want to go to pie!!
Just to add to what Bluephnx said, the link below will help you on how to use Odin, but also has the download link for SamFirm. (For region in Samfirm, use either XEU, which is UK and Ireland, or BTU, which is UK, or you will get carrier bloatware. You can obviously flash carrier filmware if you choose)

Many thanks for that. Much appreciated.
I'll give what you suggest a go.
Really don't understand why I can't do it OTA tho', would there be something wrong with my phone to stop OTA update working?
And is there any reason not to go to Pie (9) and stick on 8 that you know of?

It just glitches/bugs out sometimes. It has happened to me before, but once flashing via Odin, it usually resolves the OTA problem. You could try a factory reset, which can sometimes resolve the OTA bug, just back your data up first.
I honestly can't remember what Oreo was like to make a comparison for you, but some people do hate Pie, where I have been very happy with it since it's launch.
Here is a little explanation of Pie on the Note 8 on YT that you may find useful.

Did you ever do the OTA update yourself before on that phone or did you just buy it on AP: N950FXXU3CRD7 CP: N950FXXU3CRB9 CSC: N950FOXM3CRDC? If it's been that way since you got it then the most likely answer is that someone else updated it using a version of firmware that can't update via OTA and the only way to fix that is to use odin and flash the latest version of firmware.

How To Guide [One UI 4.0 Beta] Video Installation Guide (Snapdragon & Exynos)

I wrote a full guide on how to flash One UI 4.0.
This can be implemented for any of the phones supported for the One UI 4.0 Beta. However I only own an S21 Ultra, so I'm only hosting the files linked within the guide for that device, but the other files can be found around here in the OTA download threads.

This is such a great guide!
Out of curiosity, is it normal for the beta build to periodically "restart"? I noticed that the lock screen flashed, reloaded, it required me to use the PIN (instead of face/finger print). When I checked the uptime on the phone that stayed the same.
Any ideas?
Can some tell me if I have a Verizon S21U (SM-998U) on 4AUIG how can I install the beta? Will this method work? Thanks

Yes this will work, you will have to use Odin 3.14.1 patcheD, downgrade to 998U1 XAA AUH9, then factory reset, enter adb sideload, flash beta 1, reboot, reboot to sideload, flash beta 2, factory reset, reboot, done.
All files are linked in the guide
EDIT:
OR you can use the 998U beta files lingering around here, really doesn't matter, only difference is that the CSC I believe has to match, so if you have 998U VZN, and the beta 1 update is for 998U TMB, then it's going to see that the firmware is different and I think it's going to fail, which means you have to flash whichever one is for the update zip first. Which the person who uploaded should say their exact firmware they were on that they captured the update from.
This is why U1 is just easier, there's only one, they're all XAA, no CSC stuff to worry about, no carrier bloatapps in the background. It's the ideal choice for the best experience.

thank for your explanation and recommendation! Greatly appreciated.
Hi! My s21u CSC is ZTO (Brazil), part of OWO multi-CSC, and it's still on AUHB firmware. Can I manually update to AUHD? Or do I have to wait for the AUHD update specifically for my CSC and only then update to ZUID (Beta 1) and then to ZUJ1 (Beta 2)? Also, the device is not rooted yet.

You can manually wait but the likely hood of something for that specific model being leaked around here probably won't happen.
Best to just use patched odin to flash auh9, flash zuid beta one, reboot, flash zuj1 beta 2, factory reset, start from there and call it a day. wait for leaked updates to appear here, it's going to be the most common device to get leaked builds
I did some research @hthiengo and I found a few things

Just follow this guide, but replace the initial firmware I have linked with Exynos firmware for SM-G998B AUHD, then flash the ZUIC file linked in that thread, from there follow along with the OTA section and flash ZUIC to ZUJ1 and you're in business.
From that point, you can continue to flash OTA update's as people capture the .bin file.
Alternativly, there's an updated section at the bottom of that opening post, where someone has also captured AUIE to ZUJ1. This will just go from the October Security patch of One UI 3.1 to One UI 4.0 Beta 2 directly, saves you a few steps out of the gate.
thanks for updating the guide to include exynos
So I switched to TMobile from Verizon so I have a actually TMobile phone. I enrolled to beta yesterday thinking I'd have it by now still haven't received it.
