Correct version for boot loader unlock? - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Looking at buying the x4, and want to make sure I get the proper version so I can unlock the bootloader, root, twrp, and all the fun stuff ?
This is the standard version, not the Prime exclusive:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074VFRKZG/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdo_t1_lfJwCbTV5AKKQ
That version should be good, correct?
Thanks in advance,

I got the android one for $165 from here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1449873-REG

I ended up getting the Android one edition from BH photo as well. I spent a little more to get the 4 gb ram, 64 gb rom version

best buy is selling the android one unlockable bootloader 64gb, 4gb of ram (their website incorrectly described it as 3gb ram) for $200. I bought two and successfully obtained the bootloader unlock codes from Motorola for both. I assume, but do not know for sure, that the 32gb, 3gb ram android one phones best buy sells for $150 are also unlockable.

great deal

I bought the 32 gb 3 gb ram version from best buy in December for 300 bucks and yes it is bootloader unlockable and i think i remember it came with a separate vendor partition so you can use treble gsi without modifying gpt

Mi8 Variant

I have ordered a Mi 8 with 8GB RAM and 256GB Flash instead of the version with 6GB RAM and 256GB (it is not Explorer Edition, nor SE)
What do you know about this version, is it original? It is not listed on many Xiaomi sites, but i have found some articles that says Xiaomi also launched this version.
Also, do you think there will be any problems with installing a ROM? Since it has 8Gb Ram instead of 6Gb?
It may be a typo. You'll probably receive the 6/256 version
Yes, i already inquired about an 8gb / 256 and it doesn't exist (atleast 1.5 weeks ago). I ended up buying the 8gb/128gb version (blue) instead. Hope you didn't pay extra for the advertised 8gb, since i agree you will probably get the 6gb/256gb version.

Does the T-Mo E5 Plus really have 3GB RAM?

According to some reviews I've read/watched, the T-Mobile specific version only has 2GB of RAM, as does my current LG, and VLC gets closed all the time by other apps because of RAM issues.
The T-Mobile tech specs page says that the phone has 3 GB of RAM.
So.. do does the T-Mobile version really have 3GB?
And just to confirm, if the T-Mobile Motorola E5 Plus does have 3GB of RAM - Its bootloader can be unlocked via Motorola for custom ROMs, correct? (I know the Cricket version is sadly SOL for that)
I have the Tmobile E5 Plus, model XT1924-7 and yes it has 32GB ROM and 3GB RAM.

Buying from Canada, coming back to USA

It looks like Canada is one of the cheapest ways to get a P30 Pro. Living on a border state, I can get into Canada and back as a long day trip. Was wondering if any has experiencing doing this?
It looks like Fido and Rogers both have it for $1099 outright, but when I tried to order online it requires signing up for phone service. And I have no idea if they would actually let someone from the US buy one outright from them?
Hopefully someone else has insight doing this?
clove.uk has it the cheapest

They will not allow that. You need to have some form of Canadian ID or bank account when I spoke to them the other day.
clove.uk or amazon.co.uk (for now anyway) will allow pre-order for April 5th release... however order now before Brexit and get it shipped out before Brexit as who knows what will happen to shipping once it hits....
The ones in Canada 6GB RAM though keep that in mind:
https://www.koodomobile.com/phones/huawei-p30-pro
128gb are 6gb ram, 256gb is 8gb ram. Problem is the Canadian carriers want you to change your plan or sign up for a plan. If you want to pre order, you will get a free watch. If you want to buy it outright, you'll have to wait till launch. Rogers, koodo, videotron, bell, telus, fido all have the same rule for this phone.

The version Clove UK is selling is the 128gb with 8gbb of RAM. Are there two SKUs? One with 6gb and one with 8gb, but both with 128gb?
Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk
Videotron in Quebec is selling the 128/256gb 8gb of ram. I talked to them yesterday when I tried to buy one out right.

I have heard from people that the Koodo website cannot do different description just based on colour. So 256GB could have 8GB, hopefully.

I've talked to 2 different higher up reps from Bell and Rogers that say the specs on the 256GB are still 6GB RAM. Only storage is different. So not sure at this point. Drives me crazy that these manufacturers have so many different variants to create this uncertainty

Bell and Rogers doesn't even offer the 256GB model. I've only seen Koodo with it so far.
I'll try to see if someone at Koodo can confirm.
Edit:
In Facebook chat Koodo Rep says it's 6GB RAM

Doesnt mean the carriers will carry both though unfortunately.
Videotron has both and I think telus, koodoo and virgin also. Bell, Rogers, fido only have the 128gb as far as I was told.

I bought my 256GB from Koodo (only black 256GB available btw). It's released here on the 11th, should get it in the mail a couple days later.
I can't wait! Lol. My note 4 is holding on by a small thread.

Does the g7 plus has 128Gb version?

I'm thinking abut upgrading my wife's G5 plus and found this item:
https://m.aliexpress.com/item/4000114833594.html?spm=a2g0n.shopcart-amp.item.4000114833594&
I'm tyring to understand if this a real moto.
1) The price of this item looks too good to be true.
2) In GGMarena I only see 64Gb for the G7 plus ansld this one listed as 128Gb.
The seller told me that this is CN model with global ROM.
Will I be able to unlock the bootloader and flash custom roms?
Any ideas about this?
Looks fake to me tbh

Check on motorola website if it exists.
I did found some info on the issue:
The 128Gb is a real version in china:
https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/...us-with-4-6gb-ram-and-128gb-storage-in-china/
I had a strange talk with a chine representative over WeChat and he told me that not google apps run in that phone.
and also gave me a site from Motorola that should allow to unlock it's bootloader:
https://www.zui.com/iunlock
But I have no idea if the hardware is the same as the normal G7 plus so not sure if a custom ROM will not brick it...
If it is running the international ruu then it would have Google play store preinstalled.......

I’m on att but I wanna get an unlocked one. Is all Verizon devices unlocked from the get go? Sorry I need some help as I’ve been searching for a few days now but I need the experienced help

How much internal storage would depend on your storage needs and how long you expect to keep the device. On a 256GB device actual space is around 200GB when system memory is deducted. The 512GB variant is hard to find, Samsung's US website doesn't offer it in the Verizon or Unlocked Models. I saw only one new unlocked on ebay at $2000 USD. Unless you're in a contract with Verizon or you need mmWave you might consider switching to Tmobile. Samsung US has the 512GB variant with no trade-in for $1380 USD.

Thank you. I actually found a 256 s21 ultra for 750. It wasn't an easy find but I found one at brand new too and so far I'm not regretting switching from an iPhone.
