It is already being sold on the online shop in my country at about $40 cheaper than oneplus 6. Should I buy it? I heard that China Rom versions cannot be unlocked any more. Is there a way to convert the China Rom to global rom anytime in the future?
Only 40$ cheaper? You just need to wait about 2 weeks, than you will get it much cheaper (in China about 360€ 64GB, 400€ for 128GB and 440€ for 256GB). Even with +50€ it must be about 100€ cheaper.
Xiaomi is not Huawei, so you can unlock bootloader. After the global version is online, you can flash it on chinese version and get also full OTA support.
The next sale starts in 5 days, with about 1 Mio. devices.

Don't buy it, save yourself the headaches. Just wait for it to be officially released in your country.
i saw unboxings on youtube with playstore already installed, so this cant be hard..?
You can install Google on China ROM in 1 min. but you got a lot of China stuff, bloatware and notificarion problems.
I'm sure, you will see global edition in about 2 weeks.

Don't know about other sellers but where I bought mine, TradingShenzhen, it already ships with Play Store.
Otherwise there is no issue in flashing global if needed.
is there a hardware difference like the bands supported?
I'm in China the mi8 no google service
I went to see mi8 in the xiaomi home
the hands Feel is not very good, and it is still MIUI9 system, feel strange. but mi 8SE is relatively small, feel good, but still no google service。 if any want to buy , Buying in China is easy。4+64G CH$2699 about $422.
Dear community,
I just bought a Mi 8 online. Unfortunately, after the purchase I read about the new rules Xiaomi made for Global and Chines versions of their phones.
I then checked what I bought and sadly it is Chinese Version with "official Global ROM and OTA updates".
I assume that the bootloader will be unlocked, which ist not so nice for some apps.
But what I am more concerned about is the question if I will brick the phone if I try to upgrade to MIUI 10 Global (which I think I will but please correct me if I'm wrong)
Are there any disadvantages in just using the Chinese ROM (english language would be fine for me)?
So would you think, it will be better to return that device and buy a Global version instead? (I bought on AliExpress and its not delivered yet)
Thank you very much and kind regards,
undefined
You can update to global MIUI 10 from OTA with no problem, i have done the same yesterday. The only thing you can't do is relock your bootloader
Thank you, roccovite, I didn't know that
Do you know if purchases in Google Play also work?
I think I would have to try, if my banking app will work too, even with unlocked boot loader. But I think I haven't locked the boot loader in my Redmi 3 pro neither and everything works.
Hi friends
I want to buy Mi8 in the next few days, In fact, this will be my first experience with Xiaomi devices, and frankly, I'm a bit afraid.
I did many web searches, I found that this problem is very widespread and it happens to many people, and this scared me frankly.
Is there a way to avoid this problem?, can I know if the phone is "really" Global, or Chinese, or -As in your case above- "Chinese Version with official Global ROM and OTA updates" before I purchase it ??, or I really need to purchase and open it to know??
thanks in advance
Dear A7.Rtb,
I think it highly depends on where you're going to buy. For example if you're going to buy on AliExpress, there is one major reseller which labeled all phones accordingly with "Global" or "Global ROM". You just need to look for the phones labeled "Global" and ignore all the others, even tho "Global ROM" is generally cheaper.
Maybe you can also see it on the box the phone came in with but I'm not sure about that
Kind regards,

Thanks for your answer,bro.
In fact, I'm from Syria, and here we can't buy online, and we don't have any of the purchasing agencies such as AliExpress or Amazon or others. There are only small local shops, which means I can check the box before I buy the phone, I think the phone type must be defined on the box, isn't it ???.
But there is something I didn't fully understand.
Do you mean that the phones labeled "Global ROM" are Chinese version in the first place, but with the global ROM installed on them - as if I purchased the Chinese version and installed the Global ROM from miui.eu on it, for example - ???
I'm really sorry if I bother you, but this phone is priced here about 220000 of the local currency, and this is not cheap at all, so I don't want to venture ...
Thank you again
Dear A7.Rtb,
don't worry, you don't bother me
First thing, I hope you are as safe as possible in Syria, my friend.
As far as I read here in the forum and at Google is that the Chinese version box has only Chinese letters on it and that the global version box has a sticker saying "Global" on it.
But I can't confirm that because I haven't seen it in reality yet.
Yes, many sellers on AliExpress taking the Chinese version, unlock the bootloader, flash the official global ROM and put it back in the box.
I read today about the disadvantages of having an unlocked bootloader. As far as I read, the phone will work fine but Google Pay and some apps like banking and Netflix won't work because they check if the bootloader is unlocked.
Hope I could help you a bit
Have fun and stay safe

Just love your empathy.
Kudos to people like you still care for people who are different from them without any racism and prejudice
Oh man; this is stressing me just a bit that I can ruin my new phone with one software button. Is it at least unbricka me from that state?
Cause I am buying a Mi9 More details here, idk if this is allowed to post this link
So I imagine I can convert it down the line. Bootloader unlocked isn't an issue for me since I always have my phone's rooted anyway which I need to unlock bootloader for anyway.
This is my first Xiaomi phone so curious, there is an official global ROM and a different one from xiaomi.eu? And one requires flashing tool and other can flash from TWRP?
Thanks in advance
As always, I'll only be supporting unlocked devices. I expected some sort of Exynos device in the release, but I've seen none. I assume the Snapdragon variants will all be locked.
Any leads?
I've messaged a few eBay sellers and they're all selling international unlocked models but with the SD 855. So far no Exynos models have hit or are even slated to hit soon. Might have to wait a few weeks.
AFAIK back in the day the Exynos model was only available in European markets. I pre-ordered from amazon here, but no mention of exynos or SD. According to GSMarena there will be an exynos for EMEA (https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s10-9536.php)
I've messaged clove (UK based) and their S10+ will indeed have the Exynos chipset. I'll be ordering one very soon.
If anyone is worried about buying a phone from the UK and from clove specifically - don't be. I've purchased multiple phones from them with absolutely no issues. They just need to open the box and load the phone with a UK SIM in order to unlock it for use outside of the USA. So if it's a must for you to be the first person to open the box then you may want to look elsewhere.
This reddit user claims to have an Exynos version.

I was at the local electronics store today. They had all models on display. They where in retail mode. Fingerprint would not work. I had not have the chance to the settings info page. But on the description I think I said exynos. Also online they say exynos, but also 6gb ram, so maybe can't trust that one.
But I'm pretty confident that the European version will be the exynos one

I have a chinese variant S10 , SM-G9730. bootloader could be unlocked.
I can confirm Exynos is being shipped in EU also. Verified with CPUZ on the phone im currently holding.

Yep. Best version available.
For reference, the S10e Snapdragon China model with unlocked bootloader should be SM-G9700

I already bought the SM-G970F/DS from them which is Exynos.

Does someone know how to relock the bootloader?
Nevermid, it's quite easy. I did it through download mode

How did you manage this? I want to re lock mine also(Australian version). I've re flashed the stock firmware and when i reboot to download mode through ADB on my Windows PC and then try to lock it, i just get <waiting for devices>. I read some where that it's a drive issue.
I believe i've updated my drivers but im still getting the <waiting for devices>. I tried on my Mac also but i keep getting an interface error which from what ive read is a MacOS issue.
Can anyone please help? I want to relock it so that i can sell it.
The first one I bought late 2019 was locked and I had to go through the usual waiting game procedure. I got another one from aliexpress yesterday (global rom) and it's already unlocked. At least it says so on boot screen and dev settings. Is this a usual thing Xaiomi do.... pre-unlock older models? cheers....

Both me and my cousin's note 7 came locked. In your case I believe the bootloader was unlocked by the previous owner or the seller before it was sold.
no one store sell devices with unlocked bootloader.
you bought an used device from a previous owner who didn't know how to relock the bootloader.
I've also bought once a phone with this issue. Not all sellers are honest and some of them just trying to sell you some trash. I've personally started using extensions to monitor the sellers trust factor, parcel tracking and items real quality based on qualified reviews. Here is a link to the tool - https://alitools.io/en
chances are you bought a previously used phone, i would recommend restoring it with Xiaomi tools and flashing the stock factory firmware to make sure the previous user didnt leave anything malicious on the phone.
Hello everyone I live in Canada and I use a Koodo network (part of Telus wireless). I am Interested in trying a oneplus phone because I came from a samsung galaxy s8 and in Canada mine is boot loader locked. My s8 model # SM-G950W and it seems like many sources say its not possible to root. I am interested in a one plus 10 pro 5G (https://www.oneplus.com/ca_en/10-pro) or a newly released oneplus 10T 5G. Are either of these phones rootable? And if so, has anyone done it? Is rooting stable? Does it have many failures/bugs/errors? Can anyone confirm which oneplus device is best for rooting and is rooting partially done or fully rooted?
Many thanks!!
skip oneplus. it's not worth the hassle. buy a s22 or pixel instead

You seem to support oneplus in your signature and also, in north america s22 ultra, s22+ or s22 seems to be bootloader unlocked, alot of them are im not saying all of them but most are. Should I wait for the next pixel 7, pixel 7 pro or revert back to pixel 6 and pixel 6 pro ? Thanks for the info

Get the Motorola p90 pro.
I'd even look at the nothing phone 1 if you could get it, looks great, uses a 788 SOC I think, plus it's cheap and that glyph lighting is brilliant.
Rooting shouldn't be a problem but there won't be many if any custom ROMs.
The pixel 6 does have a couple of custom ROMs but they're far and few between the days.
I couldn't recommend a Sammy device as the bloat and weird convaluted OS is just horrific.
