Second sim is not available, when you are using the first one (when answering/making a call).
...and if I am surfing on socials like Facebook in SIM #1 does it work receiving call on SIM #2 or is it stopped?
EDIT: solved
Similar to the Huawei Mate 10 series, the P20 and P20 Pro can support dual-SIMs with dual 4G and dual VoLTE running at the same time. This provides the best dual-SIM experience as both lines are connected to the best network possible. It also supports download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps with 4X4 MIMO over a 4.5G LTE network.

This all depends on whether you have the dual sim version of the P20 Pro. Most UK versions are single SIM only. Allegedly, these can be converted to dual sim using a guide available on this forum or using the funky huawei paid service. I am still looking for full verification that this workaround is fully functional or not. Goes without saying that, you will also need to buy a dual sim tray for these UK versions of the P20 Pro.

Oh, I'm in Sweden, and my dual SIM works like a charm. Have my work sim and private sim running simultaneously without any issues at all. I opted in the settings to run the surf on sim 2 since I have more data on that one even.
I do wish I could set one number at "do not disturb" at a time. Or change the ringer to vibrate or silent for just one of the phone number.

@OP
What this guy said is 100%
The only way to obtain dual SIM from a single SIM variant is to essentially lose bootloader unlocking ability by using the funky Huawei method.
It's up to you to decide which you think is more important.

What's the difference between active and standby? Plus, did you rebrand your phone after network unlocking it? Did it affect the network unlock at all?

Uhm, well. Mostly here in Sweden the phones are unlocked and unbranded. So, I just smacked my work sim and private sim in the phone and activated the "dual active 4G" option.

You dont. Try to make a call from sim2 when sim1 is engaged in a call. Or be on a call on sim1 and and get a notice when someone calls you on sim2 and change to that call. You cant do that and that is the difference of dualsim standby and active. The last Huawei device to have dualsim active was the Honor 8. After that they have stopped supporting it, cheaper with standby than active

Yeah that works. If I'm in a call I can add a call using the second line without the first call dropping out. The first call can't hear me tho, unless I switch back. But, both are connected, just the the speaker and mic can only be connected to one at a time. I figure that's a software limitation tho.

Strange that your phone can make it but not mine. And since the phone just supports dualsim standby and not active it should not work. Thats why there are an option to forward calls to the other sim when the the first one is engaged in a call as it is not possible to have both sims active at the same time as the phone just got one radio part.

I actually just tried after the last comment to make sure. And it works. It might be because both of the cards are on the network provider "3" and they do the calls over 3g and 4g since they don't have 2g access. And as my earlier screenshot shows, you can have both of the 4g's active at the same time.
But if you're right about that "one radio part" shouldn't that also be impossible? I'd think it's weird to build in two 3/4g antennas and just one 2g.
Sorry I have to revive this dead topic.
Is there an updated list of DSFA smartphones (dual sim active, two radio modules)?
I know DSFA can somehow be "emulated" using VoLTE /dual VoLTE or VoWifi if the device and carrier supports it.
How do you do this on mi8?
I can on phone call while using mobile data to chat on my iPhone 7
You description needs more details. However, it seems that you are wanting to make phones using data and you can't?
If you have properly gone through your settings and enabled WIFI calling and Mobile data, and you are still experiencing an issue, then try checking your APN settings.
There is a very good chance that your settings are incorrect and it's why you are experiencing this issue.
He is asking why data is disabled when you answer a phone call.
I have the same issue on Sphinx + AOSiP
With my older Xiaomi Redmi 4X I was able to browse the net while speaking to someone on the phone.

Voice over LTE (VoLTE or HD Voice)? Is that what you mean? VoLTE enables LTE voice calls which sounds clearer than using 4G (HSPA+) and sometimes this is needed to simultaneously use calls and data (internet, downloads, etc).
Make sure your carrier supports this technology, and that your carrier's APNs are properly set up. If your carrier doesn't support VoLTE, it's not a problem, but the following steps will not help you. As far as I have an understanding, if you have two SIM cards active, you can only use one SIM card at a time for multiple functions. Also, I have only tested this in SIM slot 1.
Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Region. Set your region to Hong Kong. This may automatically install some bloatware (useless) apps, but you can delete them as they are mainly for China. Once this is done, try to call and see if it sticks to LTE and allows you to use your internet. IF IT DOES NOT, go to your dialer (phone app) and dial *#*#86583#*#*
You will see a message pop up at the bottom of the screen, this is normal. Now you should be able to enable/disable VoLTE in the carrier settings (Settings > SIM cards and Mobile Networks > tap your SIM card and phone number). It should already be enabled by default. Now try again. If it still doesn't work, double check your APN settings or contact your carrier to see if this phone fully supports their network.
As a bonus, setting the region to Hong Kong also unlocks the Face Unlock functionality, although I believe it has already been enabled with the latest update. KEEP THE REGION SET TO HONG KONG. Do not change it back as this will disable VoLTE. Region does not affect languages or other phone functionality, so it is safe to keep it this way.
Hello All!
Im new at this topic, because some weeks ago, i bought a z3 play phone, i coming from a moto maxx (quark) from motorola..
I want to know how i can enable vowifi/ wifi calling for use with my z3 play, because i cant found this option on the menu, when i search it, only appears the option for "enhanced 4G mode" that include Volte calls (volte works well and wifi calling works in other phones but with my z3 play no) but i want use with wifi calling, currently im using android pie, and the model is, XT1929-6, opencl channel.
can some one help me with this?, could be useful change to other stock rom?, opencl -> retla, or retail?, the current software compilation is: PPWS29.131-27-1-11
Thanks you a lot!

I have bought this phone on carrier called claro, if I install lineage or resurrection remix could be use wifi calling or volte ?
I mean what carrier are you using it on? If you using Claro Argentina then perhaps it should work. If you're trying to use it on another ClaroNetwork I'm not sure. you need to specify what network and what country that you're going to use it on as well as what network and what country the model is. For Verizon they only support Wi-Fi calling on models they sell. The same with AT&T.

My carrier is claro chile, in my case. When I use other simcard(with volte is working on other phone) in this phone. Not works, but if I use the. Claro simcard only appears volte.
I want to know if flash the resurrection remix. For example, could be possible use both services. But I’m not sure if this work or not. Up today I don’t know for someone that are using resurrection that says if volte / vowifi works in this custom rom.
Hi team,
This is a Global Mi 9T Pro, Miui 10.3.2, bootloader is not unlocked.
LTE 4G works, however no "voice over" - it reverts to 3G for voice calls.
*#*#86583#*#* results in "the number you have called is not connected", using both SIM 1 and SIM 2, have tried 2 different SIMs that show "VoLTE" on Reno Oppo Z and GS8. 4G switcher app shows "VoLTE not provisioned". Any suggestions on how to enable VoLTE? I have tried a factory reset once...
Thanks

I'm in Brazil carrier Tim, unfortunately there's no specific MBNLoader file for this carrier, so I selected the generic Brazil MBNLoader, it wasn't enough to turn ON VolTE in calls though, it reverts back to 3G or 2G
any other ideas?
PS found a post on another forum that says the Malaysian MBNLoader will be fully compatible with the carrier TIM on Brazil. I tried it and it worked perfectly, now I have VolTE. GG

If you are "roaming", does it switch by it self to proper MBNLoader? (if my question make any sense?)

I think what you're asking is if the MBNLoader changes automatically depending on geolocation or when a new SIM card is inserted. TBH I don't know. But if I would have to guess I'm guessing it is a setting that you select when turn on the device for the first time, and that remains selected even if you insert a new SIM card. Lemme know if i've misinterpreted your question.
Just got my Pixel yesterday, noticed that I don't have any sign of 5G connection even if I have everything activated on my sim and used 5g in my area with a Huawei P40 Pro....
I noticed, when I accessed the *#*#4636#*#* menu that it shows my sim card as sim2. I know that on second sim there's no 5g and I wonder if that's the problem. If it is, is there a way I can solve it and make the phone see my sim (physical, and my only sim) as sim 1?

I know that. But it doesn't connect to the 5G network, even if the phone itself is set up to use NR, LTE and all the stuff there. It stays connected to LTE only.

Yes, tested with P40 Pro, working. Here's the Pixel

Do you have both SIM activated? It says "Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) phones with two SIMs in use will fall back to 4G networks. To connect to 5G networks, temporarily turn off the SIM that isn't set to use data."

Nope, I don't have both SIM activated. I only have a physical SIM that's in the phone, no Esim and still, it shows it's SIM 2. That's why I asked if I could reset or something and make the only sim I use SIM1, I suspect it has something to do with the phone keeping 5G off for it.
Hello balenax
I have the same issue I am based in Kuwait. They told me that my carrier needs to do some configurations with the manufacturer (Google) and then google will enable it with a software update. The physical sim I installed says Sim 2 similar to yours and once I tell it to use NR only the Network goes away instantly. I will play with 2nd sim and tell you if something happens. Please do update me if you try something

Yes, I think it's similar to OnePlus 8, the 5G connecting is enabled only for some carriers. It's a matter of time (hopefully) but I'm afraid they won't do that for unsupported countries (I'm from Romania and Pixel is not sold here officially).
Our best bet is root and edit the carrier policy files, just as on OnePlus.
I'm not that eager to do that, I'll wait for a while and see, maybe it will be solved by Google and operators.

Yes it's the same for all 5g Androids and unsupported countries, unfortunately. It is really frustrating since the bands are supported. Only Samsung, Apple, and Huawei devices are supported everywhere since they make deals with everyone. I hope this 5g mess gets fixed soon. I am not a fan of rooting my Pixel. I am hoping it will be fixed by beg on Next Year. I just tried installing an esim but it shows up as sim 3 so there seems to be something blocking the use of sim 1. It would be interesting if someone with 5g working to give us a screenshot of the Phone info I suspect that they will be on Sim 1 . If yes is it region locked!
