Second sim is not available, when you are using the first one (when answering/making a call).

...and if I am surfing on socials like Facebook in SIM #1 does it work receiving call on SIM #2 or is it stopped?
EDIT: solved

Similar to the Huawei Mate 10 series, the P20 and P20 Pro can support dual-SIMs with dual 4G and dual VoLTE running at the same time. This provides the best dual-SIM experience as both lines are connected to the best network possible. It also supports download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps with 4X4 MIMO over a 4.5G LTE network.

This all depends on whether you have the dual sim version of the P20 Pro. Most UK versions are single SIM only. Allegedly, these can be converted to dual sim using a guide available on this forum or using the funky huawei paid service. I am still looking for full verification that this workaround is fully functional or not. Goes without saying that, you will also need to buy a dual sim tray for these UK versions of the P20 Pro.

Oh, I'm in Sweden, and my dual SIM works like a charm. Have my work sim and private sim running simultaneously without any issues at all. I opted in the settings to run the surf on sim 2 since I have more data on that one even.
I do wish I could set one number at "do not disturb" at a time. Or change the ringer to vibrate or silent for just one of the phone number.

@OP
What this guy said is 100%
The only way to obtain dual SIM from a single SIM variant is to essentially lose bootloader unlocking ability by using the funky Huawei method.
It's up to you to decide which you think is more important.

Uhm, well. Mostly here in Sweden the phones are unlocked and unbranded. So, I just smacked my work sim and private sim in the phone and activated the "dual active 4G" option.

You dont. Try to make a call from sim2 when sim1 is engaged in a call. Or be on a call on sim1 and and get a notice when someone calls you on sim2 and change to that call. You cant do that and that is the difference of dualsim standby and active. The last Huawei device to have dualsim active was the Honor 8. After that they have stopped supporting it, cheaper with standby than active

Yeah that works. If I'm in a call I can add a call using the second line without the first call dropping out. The first call can't hear me tho, unless I switch back. But, both are connected, just the the speaker and mic can only be connected to one at a time. I figure that's a software limitation tho.

Strange that your phone can make it but not mine. And since the phone just supports dualsim standby and not active it should not work. Thats why there are an option to forward calls to the other sim when the the first one is engaged in a call as it is not possible to have both sims active at the same time as the phone just got one radio part.

I actually just tried after the last comment to make sure. And it works. It might be because both of the cards are on the network provider "3" and they do the calls over 3g and 4g since they don't have 2g access. And as my earlier screenshot shows, you can have both of the 4g's active at the same time.
But if you're right about that "one radio part" shouldn't that also be impossible? I'd think it's weird to build in two 3/4g antennas and just one 2g.

Sorry I have to revive this dead topic.
Is there an updated list of DSFA smartphones (dual sim active, two radio modules)?
I know DSFA can somehow be "emulated" using VoLTE /dual VoLTE or VoWifi if the device and carrier supports it.

[SOLVED] Dual SIM: 4G/3G?

Does the OnePlus 3T support both SIMs on anything above 2G? I have one SIM (lets call it SIM X) that needs to use 4G/LTE (data only plan), the second SIM (lets call it SIM Y) is used for text/talk and needs to use 3G because the service providers doesn't have a 2G signal. Can the 3T (Canadian version) support this setup?
I've tried asking OnePlus this question, i get a different reply everytime. Hoping someone from the community could give me a definite answer.
Thanks
SOLVED: So I bought the 3T. The scenario outlined above works. And it is dual sim standby.
No problem setting it up like you described in cm13 and I think oxygen will work also. I did data on my sim 1 and calls and texts on sim 2 setting it at wcdma only and it works fine on 3g only.

Pair 10 pro with AT&T Number Sync successful

So sorry if this was common knowledge but I haven't seen anything on this yet so I thought I'd share. I decided to try setting up AT&T's number sync between my new mate 10 pro and my LG Sport and it worked. What makes that amazing is this is the first non att branded phone I have ever been able to set up directly between the phone and a att smartwatch that didn't require me using a att branded smartphone in the middle. You can't find the ability to do it through the my att app or website but if you initiate through the watch, it will open the browser on your phone and then give you a number sync code, once you log in through the browser, you put in the code and then accept terms and it will successfully link. This phone also seems to work well with the LG Sport. Battery life is waaay better then when it's paired to my Att Note 8.
FYI, Att number sync allows multiple devices to receive a phone call or text message from the main line they are tied to. That way every thing is seen from one number. One of the requirements is that the phone must be Att branded.
So that tells me between this and VoLTE working on att with this phone, this phone was all but ready for att network and only thing missing was the att branding on the phone before att backed out.
Sorry if long l, just wanted to share to maybe help other att users.
Have you been able to get/verify that VoLTE is working on your mate 10 Pro? If yes, how did you verify it works? I have a Dual Sim 10 Pro rebranded to the US 10 Pro (did at Best Buy) with the Enhanced Voice and VoLTE options enabled. Thanks.

I didn't use the default apn that sets up when I had my att sim inserted. I used the settings from att's support page: https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1218306
If I remember, there were a few subtle differences. Honestly, I didn't notice if VoLTE was working before the new apn settings but I see that it works for sure with the new apn settings. My status doesn't change from LTE whether on call and/or browsing.

Cellular bands are the same as US version; when not in a call I connect to LTE+. I can achieve cellular download speeds of 98 Mbps. Main difference between US version and mine is my phone is dual SIM Mate 10 Pro. The second SIM connects to 4G when I make a call. If I use only 1 SIM, connection drops to HSPA+. I see an option to enable VoLTE on the second SIM, but it's disabled. Have you to find a way to enable it. I appreciate your feedback, thanks again.

Does wifi calling work?
An update on this matter...
As far as I can tell Huawei has been fixing one of their shortcomings and allowing VoLTE support on many more carriers despite the phone being the wrong reason.
I've heard from a reliable source that, although I didn't think it was true, indeed VoLTE works on T-Mobile US.
Note that this may or may not depend on the version/branding of the P20 Pro.
Wifi calling does not and has never worked on T-Mobile US with Huawei phones unfortunately.

Can you try this please?
1. Turn WiFi off.
2. Make sure 4G symbol is showing on your cellular bars at the top of the screen.
3. Make a phone call. You can even call 611 for T-MO customer service, and make sure that 4G symbol still remains while on the call and that it does not change to 3G or anything else? And if you can post a screenshot, it would be much appreciated.
Are you using the CLT-L29 and what region? European or Latin American version?

Correct it's the dual sim CLT-L29 Build Number is clt l29 8.1.0.106(c636)
That method of testing would be a step backward. I have already confirmed I am calling over Band 12. VOLTE is working, atleast for me on T-Mobile. I wasn't expecting it to from reviews but it was a nice surprise.

A workaround to get WiFi calling is to download T-Mobile Digits from play store and you can use the app to make wifi calls. You may need to sign up for T-MOBILE Digits. I'm not sure. I was a beta tester for Digits and they since let me keep the service for free on 3 devices.

Dual SIM: network drop when switching data sim

Hello,
I own a P20 Pro Dual Sim and I noticed that when I switch data from a SIM to the other one, both SIMs go offline for a few seconds before completing the procedure (screenshot attached).
It's a very annoying thing, because I often use the phone in difficult areas where I need a fast commutation. Is it working as intended?
I'm asking since I also have a Oneplus 6 where data switch is instantaneous with no network drop at all, so I wonder if there's something wrong with my device.
Thank you!

Yep, I was surprised myself when I saw it but probably it changes radios when switching between sims.
Another thing that I have noticed is that although I have data by default in second Sim, when I am in a call the data instantly switches to first sim.

Yes, if you call using SIM1, then SIM2 goes temporarily offline (so no data too) and to avoid being off the internet it switches data to SIM1 that it's the only one available at that moment.
At least.. This is how I understood.

No 5G connection

Just got my Pixel yesterday, noticed that I don't have any sign of 5G connection even if I have everything activated on my sim and used 5g in my area with a Huawei P40 Pro....
I noticed, when I accessed the *#*#4636#*#* menu that it shows my sim card as sim2. I know that on second sim there's no 5g and I wonder if that's the problem. If it is, is there a way I can solve it and make the phone see my sim (physical, and my only sim) as sim 1?

Yes, tested with P40 Pro, working. Here's the Pixel

Nope, I don't have both SIM activated. I only have a physical SIM that's in the phone, no Esim and still, it shows it's SIM 2. That's why I asked if I could reset or something and make the only sim I use SIM1, I suspect it has something to do with the phone keeping 5G off for it.
Hello balenax
I have the same issue I am based in Kuwait. They told me that my carrier needs to do some configurations with the manufacturer (Google) and then google will enable it with a software update. The physical sim I installed says Sim 2 similar to yours and once I tell it to use NR only the Network goes away instantly. I will play with 2nd sim and tell you if something happens. Please do update me if you try something

Yes, I think it's similar to OnePlus 8, the 5G connecting is enabled only for some carriers. It's a matter of time (hopefully) but I'm afraid they won't do that for unsupported countries (I'm from Romania and Pixel is not sold here officially).
Our best bet is root and edit the carrier policy files, just as on OnePlus.
I'm not that eager to do that, I'll wait for a while and see, maybe it will be solved by Google and operators.

Yes it's the same for all 5g Androids and unsupported countries, unfortunately. It is really frustrating since the bands are supported. Only Samsung, Apple, and Huawei devices are supported everywhere since they make deals with everyone. I hope this 5g mess gets fixed soon. I am not a fan of rooting my Pixel. I am hoping it will be fixed by beg on Next Year. I just tried installing an esim but it shows up as sim 3 so there seems to be something blocking the use of sim 1. It would be interesting if someone with 5g working to give us a screenshot of the Phone info I suspect that they will be on Sim 1 . If yes is it region locked!
