Quick clairification: target device is officially identified as "Fire 5th generation" although many refer to it as a "5th gen Fire 7". There is no "HD" in the name. Same with the 7th gen varient. The HD designation is reserved for 2nd-4th gen devices (some) and 5th-7th gen devices with a screen size of 8" or above.

yup 1024 *600 is not HD, ok I will change it.
@ANDROID2468, thanks for all your hard work. We had recently shelved these devices at Christmas because we upgraded our kids' tablets. My son broke his today so I had to dust off the Amazon Tab and put it back in service. I'm thrilled to see some more progress has been made in opening this device up. It was the perfect "first" device for my kids. I'll be unlocking and installing your custom ROM tonight.
This thing runs freaking great too man!! Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! ya, especially with amazons ad service and OTA update removed, it makes the tablet run a lot faster! I'm glad you are enjoying it
It's great to see these devices getting some love! I've got three 5th gens for my kids rocking a 2016 build of LOS 12.1. They seem to be running ok for an old cheap tablet, but I can't help but chase shiny new things... How do you feel that the overall smoothness and operation compares to the old Lineage 12.1?

You can improve responsiveness (especially after wake) by adding a 128 MB swap file in the largely unused cache partition then dialing back swappiness to 10. Makes a huge difference.
Disabling sync also helps with post wake responsiveness (ie: lag), especially if a Google account is involved.
Lovely Rom, very fast.. Is there anyway to remove the lockscreen though?

oh, I forgot about that lockscreen hack, I'm going to find a way to implement that at a system level for the next build
Can't wait
Do we take chance for ban if we register? I would like to use the alexa functions but it requires me to register.... Any ideas of way around this?

Care to expound on this one? I know this is a bit off-topic but the Nabi SE which runs on the same MT8127 SOC has a largely dormant /addon partition which could be exploited.
Add arabic language
Thank you my friend for this nice rom .. and if you can please add Arabic language .:good::good::good::good::good::good:

Largely SOC independent. Devices with <2GB of user addressible RAM rely on swap to reduce resource contention and lag while multi-tasking. 5th/7th gen Fire kernel allocates 64MB of ZRAM which roughly equates to 128 MB of addressible space yielding around 1GB of usable memory for FireOS. Trouble starts when ZRAM fills leading to aggressive swapping which the low end processor doesn't handle well. Adding a static swap file in the cache partition makes use of wasted space while expanding the effective memory footprint.
But there's a new problem: ZRAM is memory based so makes sense to aggressively swap out idle processes as recovery is relatively quick. A static swap file resides in relatively slow eMMC storage. Dialing swappiness back to a low number (10-25) discourages swapping of process memory in favor of file/page caches which are generally less critical for typical work loads. It also slows cache fill rate which dramatically improves responsiveness switching between applications.
The above is a simplified generalization of Android swap management (tip of the iceburg) and not strictly accurate. But the bottom line remains the same: performance improvement with no downside other than the time required to implement (5 min).

I'm still researching about adding Arabic system wide, but in the next update I'm replacing the keyboard with Gboard so for now you can install Gboard from play store and change the keyboard language that way.
Thanks you very much! I installed in a Fire 5th gen

mssmison,
Glad you are back with your builds!
Questions...
Q-1: You mentioned "Flash".Does this mean this won't run on an SD card?
Q-2: You mentioned this is a "320x480 only right now".
So, this won't work on my Vogue?
Thank you!

You can use 320x480 on the Vogue. Hero builds use 320x480 and they look great

Not sure about haret. 320 x 480 just means you need to flash the 320 x 480 nbh for it to work.
mssmison - Do you got any screenies? Did you get the nexus launcher in this build?
I'm getting launcher force closes and restarts but not to the boot screen just the splash screen. I've never experienced this on any build. I did a fresh install and flashed the nbh that was included. It was real laggy but after a couple restarts and waits on launcher force closes it did speed up a bit.
hmmm, try another fresh erase and install, after setup wizard let it sit till it's fully loaded before you do anything.
Great work!
Sorry if Kaiser folk annoy you but was wondering if anything was done to the .nbh (changing the size of system/data partitions, etc.) to make this work on the vogue? I'd like to try it on my kaiser but was wondering if I need to tweak anything before i flash.
Don't worry, I don't plan to change a couple things and release it as my own
If there is something to change in the nbh I might upload a couple for Kaiser users with your permission.

Drewden - How's this work for you? how's the speed for you compare to the original eclair build? I couldn't get this build working quite right but I'm going to attempt it again later today. The first norootfs build worked pretty good for me and was pretty fast for an eclair build.
I tried to add my own apps into the system image but I am getting an issue with the installation of the .tar file. Its telling me I don't have enough space... Should I make a bigger partition on my sd card for the system image?

I'm in the same boat. version 1 + the update worked awesome. it was fast and never really gave any problems beside the hw3d stuff not working properly.
This build is pretty slow, and the launcher is constantly force closing or hanging the phone when trying to open the launcher.
I did get the launcher to open once, and it looked sweet. if this build could get tweaked to run as fast as the first build and be more stable it would great.
Lots of potential here, but for now i'm going back to 1.0 as the os is more stable.
My bad wrong thread
I got this one running pretty alright, I am using Home++ app so no FC issue for me. It's faster and much stable compared to 1.0, Dialer/Phone app is tad bit faster. Compcache/Swap setting is cool.
But I am use to 240 build, so I am not getting any love. I am looking forward for QVGA build that Craig talked about...
EDIT: It gets even more responsive when Compcache is reduced to 16 (did after drewden said). Even dialer comes in less than a second. Now just want 240 version...

It's running pretty well for eclair. it has its moments but I set the homescreen to stay in memory and enabled compcache @ 16 meg. The launcher fc's stopped after that. I'm not too sure on the compcache/swap thing so if somebody could fill me in that'd be great, as id like to know the optimal setting.

Glad to see some one working on something. I do not understand why there is not more interest in this device due to the quality and the price point. This is one bad ass piece of hardware and now it is only $270. You can not get a tablet with a screen this good for that price anywhere else. I think it is better than the Transformer prime infinity screen so the only other one that may be better is the Nexus 10 and they both cost more. I already checked out the Nook HD+ and it does not get as bright. Not to mention I have two 7" android tablets and a 10". I love the 8.9" size it is perfect ! Anyway just keep working at it and since the Kindle Free did not manage to block 8.30 I guess I will have to downgrade but If this gets working good it will be worth the work !

So far so good... a little odd dealing with the missing bar at the bottom while typing and I'm having some trouble with the background sticking after an unlock, but things are a bit smoother than they were on stock and LMT is great, reminds me of Button Savior on my Nook Color.
Thanks for the work, other than wallpaper I can't think of anything really odd going on. Thanks for the reminder on the GMail, I forgot about that needing to be done when I set things up initially.

Hello everyone, I have been working on a beautiful pedometer app with new material design that keeps track of how many steps you've taken to promote a healthier lifestyle. Be it walking, jogging, hiking, running, or any other activity, you'll find this app useful in keeping track of your stats. How this is different from most other pedometer apps is that with the hardware step sensor, this app uses almost no additional battery so you can keep it running all day. In my testing I noticed no difference in battery life between a day with Pedometer running and a day without it.
From the Google Play description:
Features:
- Set your goal! It is recommended that you take 10000 steps a day. This app allows you to set a goal that's right for you, and displays your current progress.
- Track your progress with a detailed list of history entries. Unlike other apps, Pedometer's history feature will keep track of all the info from every day you walk.
- Split counter for activities! Create and save activities so you can separate how many steps you took in that one jog from the rest of the day. Useful for tracking progress over a particular activity rather than throughout the whole day. Free version is limited to the creation of 5 activities, purchase pro to unlock unlimited activities.
- Colorful themes: choose one of 6 colorful themes that use the new material design. Dark themes coming soon.
- Low powered: Unlike other pedometer apps, this one will not affect your battery life at all.
- Achievements and leaderboards: sign in with your Google+ account to unlock both single and multi day achievements and compete with your friends in leaderboards!
- More than just steps: Pedometer also shows you how far you walked and how many calories you have burned today.

There is also a pro version you can buy if you'd like to support me. This pro version currently adds a distance counter, so you can see how far you've walked all day. I plan on adding more pro-only features in the future, such as a widget or custom themes. But don't worry, the free version will still be perfectly capable of serving as your daily pedometer. If a feature is extremely popular within the pro version I'll consider adding it to the free version as well.
Requirements:
- Devices with a hardware step sensor, such as Nexus 5, Moto X, or Galaxy S5. Most recent high-end devices will also have this sensor. The hardware step counter makes it possible to keep the pedometer active without any additional battery drain.
- Android 4.4 KitKat or newer: The latest version of Android provides APIs to utilize that hardware step counter

I have used only three permissions. One is start on boot. This is used to start counting as soon as you start the device. The other two are write (and therefore read) external storage. This is used solely for the purpose of exporting logs to assist with debugging if the need arises. Don't worry, your data is safe, and this app will not be sending away any of your information.
If you have any questions of suggestions feel free to contact me, I try to respond within the same day.

V2 and Material Design
In the recent Pedometer V2 update I completely rewrote the app with material design in mind. This rewrite squashed most if not all bugs from previous version, and includes several beautiful new themes following Google's Material Design guidelines. However, due to several limitations, the apks uploaded on the Play Store are not able to use the Android L APIs and consequently are missing a few L-only features such as elevations and the ripple effect. I hope that once L is officially released Google will release a compatibility library and these UI enhancements are able to make their way to all devices. However, for now, if your device is running Android L preview, and you would like to enjoy true material elements, I have uploaded the apks compiled using API level L.
Download links for Android-L version: Free, Pro
Note: Both the free and pro version are available for download here for free. However, the pro version will verify the license with Google Play servers on launch. To ensure pro features are enabled, please purchase the pro version on the Play Store. Otherwise pro versions will be disabled and the app will function fine with the feature set of the free version.

Sorry, forgot to add them. For now you can see them in the Play Store page, I'll upload screenshots tomorrow.
Sent from my Nexus 5
It says there is an error in package parsing. CM 4.4.4
Are there incompatibility issues that you haven't written?
Not working with Galaxy S5
Hi,
I have installed your app on my galaxy S5 it only detects (roughly) 1/10 of the steps, compared to S Health or Google Fit.
It is sad because I really love the low battery consumption, and would like to switch to CM12 (losing thus S Health) and don't like Google Fit because italways needs location history enabled.
Are you planning to support samsung phones?

Does it support xbox one controller with Micro USB to USB adapter cable?
Bought the app but don't know how to setup. Went to test controller and it seemed the app doesn't regconize the controller at all.
Android TV support would be great
So this app let's you use game emulators that don't natively support hardware peripherals? Doesn't that give worse performance than using an emulator that can handle BT/USB controllers by itself?

Do I have to remap every single touch based game? Just like Droidmote?

You have to map your Controller Buttons/ Analog Sticks just the once. Only if the default assignments don't work for your Controller. After which you just need to create Touch Profiles for each Game(which is just simple drag and drop).
I hope I've been able to clear your doubts.
Hello,
I just bought your app it looks great, everything is smooth except
one thing… the analogs joysticks.
So I can’t play fps or most of the games actually…
When I move the joystick I see that the screen is “touched” at the center
of its position, but there is no slide, no movement at all.
The joysticks work fine in the test section.
I tried with and with and without wrap and with high and low sensivity, no
result :'(
Without the relative touch it’s too messy to play.
I’m running a beta android 7.1 (CM based) on my OnePlus 3.
@AnkitChowdhury in tincore keymapper there is a hybrid touch pointer (acts like a virtual mouse but instead of a mouse click, its a touch)
can you implement something like that? tincore keymapper has always been very buggy for me
its easy to navigate on menus if that is implemented
thanks

Yes that isn't the most difficult feature to implement. But I do not believe Game Controller 2 Touch PRO needs such a feature. Could you possibly provide an example of a use case?

I guess your issue is solved on changing your ROM as confirmed over mail. Returning to Stock would be the best option as Custom ROM's often remove plenty of modules from the Android System.

of course, i do game on TV, plugging my phone into MHL/HDMI cable. without the virtual mouse feature I have to go back to my phone, navigate the menus then go back to my couch and play the game.
this is a hassle dont you think?

UltraPOP AOSPish LS991 LG G4 V1.1
Heavily Modified / Ultra Tweaked Lollipop ZV6 5.1
This ROM is more of an AOSPish feeling ROM. There are two versions for users. One version for responsive smoothness (no lag or stutter) at the expense of some battery life and another version more standard built for great battery life but much less performance (some stutter & lag). The AOSPish ROMs are Ideal for power users that want the most from their phones with very little stock resemblance, no bloat and more basic feel with customizations . The HP version performs the way a phone should -fast, -responsive and -lagless (just like true AOSP roms do)

Runs great. Just loaded it to test it. I'm not a big aosp fan. But anybody thinking about running this, do it! It's nice
Everything running smooth. It does seem to initially be very laggy when booting, then it seems everything settles and its quite nice. Only had it running for about an hour, am charging to 100%, seeing the battery drain over night and will put it to work tomorrow.

Theres only lag when it boots up. Like the first thirty seconds to minute, everything kind of sticks, but after that everything is quick and smooth.
I included Google launcher, however I personally use Nova Launcher Prime. the current beta build runs smooth, fast and accurate. also now has Doubletap to sleep in Nova settings. I highly recommend all users of AOSPish to use and purchase the prime version, money well spent.
Should we factory reset?

Home selector does not work. When choosing Home Screen from the settings it says activity not available.
I'm pretty sure it's been removed. I used to freeze it anyway.
Anyone else having issues receiving picture messages?
Reset after or before running this one

LGhome launcher is gone now, I do still need to remove LGhomeswitcher app. the only think going to remove the home option is editing the framework, which I eventually want to do but tearing apart and recompiling that is a pain in the arse. It's on my to do list for future.
also, I'm going back to deadline I/O scheduler but leaving rotational scheduling on. It seems smoother. I also am going to remove some leftover framework prieces no longer needed. this is only version 1.0 but runs amazing IMHO.
