Yes, I already broke my phone. Go ahead, grin and chuckle..now that you've gotten it out of your system, anyone want to offer a little guidance? Never disassembled a newer cellphone before. New glass is ordered and has been shipped, just waiting for it to arrive. I'm hoping the process is fairly simple. I do have a specialized set of screwdrivers with all the hard-to-find bits, so that's not a problem ..it even has the tiny blackberry bit.. but from what I can see HTC uses standard micro Philips screws. Yay for standard formats!

If this phone is anything like hd2 you're gunna want the flat pry tools they sell (search hd2 screen replacement tools). Their not needed but a nice handy thingy to have, other wise you might crack your LCD from flexing it too much.

I wont grin and chuckle too much, I broke my Atrix after 4 days.
The Vivid screen seems very fragile. 2 of my coworkers have broken theirs within a few weeks of having them. Small drops from waist distance. Its too bad because I have seen the current Samsung models dropped from 6 feet face first and survive

Yeah, I've cracked mine as well. If you google HTC raider teardown on YouTube.. There's a vid.... Butttt, it's not in English and it's a teardown not a screen replacement tutorial.
It seems as thought HTC has been using reeeeally thin glass in their devices.
Whered you get the glass? It'd be very thoughtful of you to do a tutorial as you do it. I really want to replacement mine but if you remove one on the screws by the battery it voids your warranty

Honestly, I think Corning had another incident of releasing faulty glass. I've dropped mine numerous times, from pretty high up and I don't have a single scratch on my phone.

How much is it for them to fix it?
I have no idea. Shoot them an email (not Support Inquiry, youre gonna wanna send it to Repair Inquiry) and they should be able to tell you. Make sure you fill out the S/N box out now, or their just gonna send you an email back asking for it.

They use a double sided tape that hopefully comes with your replacement screen , I tried to replace a water damaged screen and it really wasn't a fun process

Yeah when mine fell I had it in a shirt pocket, bent over to pick something up and it slid out, fell about a foot and a half..directly onto the search button corner on ceramic tile. Crunch. I ordered a new panel from tmart.com .. I got a confirmation email back on the 4th saying its been shipped via usps.. should be here soon. I hope it comes with everything I need - cost me about $50.00 with the shipping and everything. I paid the extra 3 bucks for insurance lol..

Ok sorry for the delay getting back to you guys.. been frantically waiting for the screen to clear US customs (ugh) and arrive, which it finally did today. I was able to get my hands on it at about 3 this afternoon, but I wasn't able to actually look at it until about an hour ago..
So.. I open the package, big grin on my face..and the first thing I notice is that the glass is AT&T branded. Funny, considering I'm in Canada and using Rogers..but hey a digitizer by any other name...and all that. So! I open the bag that my "tools" came in.. There are 2 blue plastic tools, one a prying tool and one looked a lot like a guitar pick. Cool. There are also 2 screwdrivers included, and I'm momentarily excited, until I realize they're just tiny torqx bits. The Raider uses TINY philips head screws, so those were useless. I put them into my tiny tool set..for later consideration.
Back to the screen. Looks like it the real deal, so I watch half of the teardown vid on youtube.. As mentioned in an earlier post it isn't an english-language vid so aside from seeing the locations of the screws and the methods of levering off the internal components, there's no exchange of information going on. I would like to mention however that the video kind of glazes over the locations and removal processes for some sensitive connections, so having only experienced laptop repairs personally.. I was in fairly uncomfortable and unfamiliar territory - but I was determined.
I tried several ways at getting the phone down to its base components, and finally succeeded in locating the panel's ribbon connector interface on one of the phone's circuit boards. I had to remove the back of the phone, pull the batt, sim and sd, and pull the 4 main screws that lock the housing down onto the phone.. From there its a matter of levering off the black plastic shell and whats underneath is a whole lot of tech in a very tight space. There were 3 or 4 wires I had to disconnect, about 15 tiny screws in 3 different lengths, and then when all was said and done I had to pry the busted panel off using the supplied blue lever tool (pretty handy, actually.) and then lift the lcd away from the metal housing enough to slide the old connector out and the new one through.. This was a very tricky process - I drink way too much coffee to hold completely steady for long..lol.. Finally got it all through, but by this time I had smudged the inside of both glass surfaces pretty badly and it took some serious mechanical dexterity to hold the surfaces and wipe them down without wrecking any of the flapping, loose circuit boards, screens, etc.. it was a frightening experience.. I won't lie.. I definitely feared the worst possible outcome given my limited experience.
So.. the panel's ribbon cable is inserted, the white clip back down securing it.. I manage after several attempts to remember how to put the puzzle all back together, and after about 45 minutes of messing with it I had a visually complete phone again. I hit power, and miracle of miracles the HTC logo flashes on the screen.. I'm hopeful..
The phone boots up, looks great (aside from a few smudges I missed on the inside..grr) so I start touching the screen and here's where we have the first problem..lol.. its recognizing that I'm touching the screen..but not really accurately.. it seems to be that there are dead areas.. So now I'm thinking I broke something..lol..
Smoke break.
Took it all apart again, forgot to clean the smudges, removed and re-seated all the connections, and about 15 minutes later I had it back together again. I booted it up and waited.
Success!! It sees where I'm touching accurately now - I think the ribbon must have moved while I was putting it back together, I was shifting things a lot as I was trying to figure it all out, so I must have stressed the cable enough to move it slightly in the slot.. that, or I didn't have it all the way in / straight the first time I did it. Either way, it works fine now. I was successful on the 2nd attempt, and now the only difference is that this glass feels..rougher? less smooth? not sure how to describe it.. it feels different, anyway.. and the at&t logo of course. Aside from that, you'd never know it was in pieces an hour ago..lol.
Would I do this again? ..I hope I don't have to. Its not impossible, but man, if you're going to try this BE SUPER CAREFUL!! lol..
edit: and no - it didn't come with the double sided tape, but it seems to be staying without having to replace it.. it wasn't too hard to remove it from the panel, but getting it back on straight took some finesse.. lol.. it comes apart easier now when you're tryingn to disassemble it..but seems to be holding together fine on its own.

Corning makes the glass on the Raider/Vivid?
I would suspect it to be more sturdy if its corning, my SGS has been without a screen protector and still does not have any scratches. Yes i know SGS is Gorilla Glass and this is not but i would think it would be stronger.

So..I have smudges on the inside of the glass. Stupid sweaty fingers. Now I'm tempted to pull it apart again ..but not far enough to make a tutorial lol.. besides.. I'm glad I didn't have a camera on me - you guys woulda had a good laugh at me breaking into a sweat trying to pry loose the glass panel the first time..lol. I know it was already broken but (a) I was trying not to cut myself on it and (b) I was also trying not to break the lcd underneath. Which I believe also has smudges on it. Oi.. I guess I'll have to get in there and clean it. Probably not tonight tho. I'm just glad the thing still works - I was scared I was going to bust something. There are a LOT of little things in there. I've taken apart laptops (MacBooks at all) and successfully reassembled them so I think I'm up to the job. I'm reaaaally thankful that it says AT&T at the top and not HTC like the pic shows (since I'm on att).. Another question though, did you successfully get the "void" plastic piece back over the screw? Because, I want to keep this phone as "under warranty" as possible

No, the little void sticker on mine was less like a sticker and more like... glue, with paint on it.. lol.. it just flaked apart when I tried to lift it.. but I wasn't concerned with preserving it. Maybe if u use an x-acto or something like that you can lift it intact..? Let me know how you do.
I started getting some random touch input glitches yesterday, and today they got worse.. then my son spilled hot coffee on me and I dropped my phone on the carpet where it of course popped apart..lol..and then when I booted it back up I had some *major* touch glitches.. it was seeing input higher up than the actual contact point, and just acting real buggy..the phone was lagging.. so I took it apart again, completely.. took my sweet time reassembling it this time - I even got out the micro-fibre cloth and cleaned all the glass, and voila.. this time - its like new. I can already tell its put together right this time, which tells me something wasn't quite right before - I'm guessing I didn't get the ribbon cable seated properly before.. there are a lot of tiny, offset contacts on the end of that little cable. Anyway, I guess the moral of the story is screw warranties, and the more times you disassemble your phone the better you get at it.. lol.. it wasn't anywhere near as intimidating this time around. Felt kinda easy, actually. I think I just psyched myself into thinking it would be hard to do the first time around.
I do miss my original glass tho.. I'm thinking about contacting HTC and ordering an oem panel lol.. this one feels.. grippy. The HTC one felt smooth as silk.. I dunno this one kinda feels more like window glass. Meh.. better than a broken ghetto phone. At least now I can whip it out in public without hanging my head in shame and peeking around to see who's looking at my ugly screen. I never even tried HTC directly..I just googled the part and went with the one with good reviews..

Sooo.. I got angry at my Raider today.. started doing the weird touch input glitches again after a battery pull, got frustrated and slammed my phone down on the table in anger...and.... smash. Brand new panel is now ten times as shattered as the old one was. AND...now the phone won't even light up. AND..it looks like I may have cracked the actual LCD this time.. just a small crack at the very bottom - wouldn't even be visible with the shell on the phone.. but.. I'm not very optimistic. I get absolutely nothing on my screen when I boot the phone, all I get is one haptic "bump" and thats it. Nada.
Sooo... looks like I need a new phone. Again.
Lame.

Ok so I decided to try my luck at replacing the LCD as well as the busted digitizer that I just re-broke..lol.. back to tmart, and ordered both. I really wish I could have found the whole assembly pre-built, but the only company I found selling both as a single unit had a minimum order of 5 pcs. Out of my price range for repairs, although with my track record maybe it wouldn't have been a bad idea? lol.. anyway, I just bought both parts from tmart and am still waiting for one of them to show up. The good news is I was able to replace the LCD already. It really is just held in there with tape. Like.. there's nothing really holding it all together..you'd think with all those screws and tabs they could have come up with a better way?? Ah well. I have a display again, but until I can get the digitizer and install it I'm without input.. so I can just watch the phone boot and then sit on my lock screen. Or boot into recovery mode and use the vol and power buttons to mess about.. But why..lol. I'll just wait.
I'm just happy that nothing else seems to be affected. I had my alarm going off still with no screen, so that tipped me off that everything else should still be ok. I won't know for 100% certain til I complete the repair, but it looks promising. I picked up a used HTC Magic (ugh) from kijiji for $80 and it came with 3 batteries, 3 chargers, 3 usb cables, 3 leather cases, and a bunch of other crap in threes. Just so I'm not completely without a phone in the meantime. Overall not bad for $80 but man is this phone slow. I installed a custom rom **THANKS XDA!!** on it and it improved the performance and look of the OS a little, but it lags a lot even overclocked when just typing a text.. I can't wait to get my phone back!!
Aside from the screens, this phone is pretty tough. I slammed that sucker down pretty hard that day.. Cmon HTC - why didn't you give us gorilla glass on a $600 LTE phone!?!?!?!? I wish I could find an aftermarket panel that was made from gorilla glass. That would totally rock!
Yeah, i really wish they would've put gorilla glass on it. I used to have the atrix and ive dropped it on tile floor at least 3 times... Nothing. Keys in the same pocket as phone.. No scratches at all.
I didn't want to try my luck, so I just got a replacement vivid
maybe like a glass screen protector but for the camera, or even possibly a plastic one but it might not be as "transparent" when taking pictures.

Don't bother. Pictures will look terrible. Just take care of your phone.
i just noticed another thread on the S4 forums someone said

seems interesting and easy to replace/recut. i might try that first and see how image quality compares
from the posts ive seen so far, it is only luck that prevents scratches on the "sapphire" lens. as you can see in the general chat, people who have cases, people who dont put anything else in their pocket, get the same scratches as people who dont seem to care. and this is a phone i want to use for more than a year?
some of these people are 3 months in and unable to use their camera.
Brava, if you dont use your camera thats fine, but if you do, i would suggest you look at your camera lens and watch it deteriorate without any protection

camera just fine for all my previous phone no scratch nothing shiny as new, had note went to bench and everything not a single scratches, o yeh i take a lot of pictures about 5GB of photos that taken by my note
This phone has a sapphire lens, which is a very hard material, I don't think its needed.

I think if you don't have a case it could be a problem.
It is a hard lens, but there will be minor, very light scratches on it, most likely it won't affect your pictures, but I was thinking this same thing tho, maybe a tiny piece of ghost armor over the camera.

People that are having this serious a problem should be contacting Lg about warranty work. Sapphire shouldn't scratch up that easy, that fast under normal use. I have watches that use sapphire and the only thing not scratched to hell is the sapphire.
Yeah... I might contact LG, but I've already had Verizon replace my phone (the original one in that thread) due to the scratches... New one began doing it as well, after the first time or two I wiped it off with the underside of my shirt. I ended up using a part of my left over zeiss pure crystal screen protector and custom cut out a small piece and put it on my camera lens... Works pretty good. Oh, it doesn't scratch nearly as easily as the lens did... I've had it on for a couple of weeks now and hardly any scratching. Check out the attached photo... May hinder photo quality some, but it's not much.

It's my guess that majority of the scratches are caused by fingers, when there is a dust or debris on the lens, user mistakenly puts his/her finger on the lens trying to use the controls. I am also planning to use invisible tape on camera lens, when it is pressed against glass, it usually turns invisible, I think that might work. I can just remove and toss it when I need to use the camera, and when I am home I can just apply it again.
When I first saw LG G2 on it's release day in the store, I seriously thought those rear buttons were sliding camera cover, I thought to myself, what a great idea to protect the lens, then I realized they were buttons when I handled the phone and I could not find any buttons on the side (I initially thought there were touch sensitive sliding rocker/buttons on the side)
I took the old screen protector that was part of the packaging and cut a piece to cover the camera lens. :silly:
I haven't compared pictures, but I haven't noticed loss of quality or adverse effects for the auto-focus.

My old Sony Ericsson had a sliding camera cover, that thing was awesome. You never have to worry about finger prints or scratching the camera.
Not to mention it also worked as a shortcut for the camera app like the volume down button on the G2.

Brilliant idea, sir. :good: I should have kept it clean when I took it off instead of just tossing it away. I still have two more screen protectors, and a set from an old phone, I think I am going to do that! Just cut it in the shape of the lens, odd shape but it should be OK. Maybe I can find 1:1 pdf of the back of the G2 and use that as template. Hey, maybe we should start selling them, I am sure people will buy a screen protector bundle that comes with a small piece for the camera over the ones that don't!
And I totally miss those old days when things were more functional. I can see some manufacturer (mostly Apple does this) recycle this idea and pass it as the "next great innovation"

Haha, maybe. I don't know why more companies don't make protectors for the camera lenses on phones. It's probably even more important to protect them since they'll affect quality of pictures whereas a scratch (on a relative scratch proof gorilla glass) screen is more of an aesthetic annoyance.
I do miss the "mechanical feel" of the slider for my camera. It was fun just to play around and use the camera in that regards. I remember my criteria in selecting a cellphone was that it should be a flip phone. Might seem cheesy to some people nowadays but the feeling is much different maybe like how some people prefer physical keyboards on phones. Objects around us are becoming increasingly numb-feeling. I guess that's one of the reasons I really enjoy my mechanical watch. Might not have the accuracy of an atomic watch but it's pleasing to look at.

Rip the brand name and different colors/shades on pretty much all phones nowadays, most people can't tell one from another anymore, except Blackberry Q10. Not much originality anymore, I loved the idea of buttons on the back, and I went for it, now I find myself knocking on my wife's older LG phone, just like I found myself swiping up on all other phones when I used Z10 for 2 weeks. Originality is slowly dying not because it is a bad idea but because of all the people out there expecting things to be certain way, and to think that cellphones took this form just in last 5-6 years, I say we all got used to this way to quickly. Think about the criticism G2 received even before it was released "no way, buttons on the back, LG has lost its mind", then "Wow, I find it very easy to use and more ergonomic than trying to reach for the buttons on one sides"

Yea, it's crazy how phones (smart phones anyways) basically "standardized" over the past 5 years.
When I saw the rear buttons on the G2 before it was released, I knew it would be a great location. Bought the phone without even running by a demo and it was exactly as I expected.
The button placement works well even though many people thought otherwise.
I am confused are these scratches coming from shipment or just crap in peoples pocket
So after owning smartphones for about 5 years I finally dropped my moto x (of course my favorite phone of all time) and wasn't lucky enough to come out with an uncracked screen. The phone still works flawlessly so it is only the glass that has cracked and the digitizer is fine. I started taking apart the phone to see if I could fix it or not and I got 7 of 11 screws out of the back. Most of which stripped almost immediately and I even resorted to taking a knife and etching grooves into the screws. Well sadly I cannot for the life of me get the last 4 screws out of the back and was hoping someone here had some advice to be able to get the stripped screws out
Also I would like to know if it is possible to replace just the glass on the phone myself or if I will need to buy a digitizer and glass.

You can't do just the glass. You'll kill the screen doing that. You'll have to buy a combo part if you want to do it yourself (which at this point is all you'll be able to do, since you ripped it open yourself).
If you really want to go ahead with it... Don't get some low quality junk part. I work in cell phone and tablet repair, and I have people come in all the time with broken parts of their phones that they tried to replace. Be prepared to shell out a **** load for a new screen.
This is the only thing I can recommend. We use Gadgetfix when we can't get parts from our usual suppliers, so I can vouch for quality.

The price of a replacement screen makes a repair pointless right now. I can get a new in box XT1058 for less then the price of the screen most days.
Maybe hold onto the phone and repair it when/if the price of replacement screens come down.
Yeah....I'd just pick up a new or used phone. Price is great for this phone....you may shell out for the parts you need and have more issues...then you'll really be in the hole.

I tried to do a glass only repair on my moto x. Screen broke before I could even attempt to remove the outer frame.

I dropped my phone today and the screen cracked. It's still usable, just has two ugly cracks along the front. Anyone know of a easy way to replace the screen?

Might as well have Motorola replace it, it costs $175 for a new device, but you have to mail them you're busted one first.

Agreed. I had a similar issue and had an overall good experience with Motorola repair. Took about ten days from start to finish.

So I contacted Motorola and they will fix it for $175 and if I want it back fast I would have to pay another $40 in s/h. With that amount of money, I could just buy a brand new one for another $50. Any thoughts?

Yes it's 250 on Amazon. Probably a better choice.
Also do yourself a favor and buy a case
OK but now I'm in a dilly of a pickle... I have the option to buy the 6p. My concerns are that the 6 isn't gonna receive anymore love now that it's going on two years old. Would it be wise to purchase the 6 again? Or should I just upgrade to the 6p? I love the 6, I do. But...and yes there's always a but lol. But the 6p intrigues me. I've researched and I know its not much of an upgrade but I love the thought of the fingerprint scanner and the overall look of it. But it is slightly smaller in size and I'm a big dude...but (there it goes again), I could always get a case to make up the difference... Anyways, I would love you guys feedback on my first world dilemma lol. Thanks!

If you still have the phone and aren't afraid of breaking it you could try a glass only replacement. I have never done it before until yesterday. I ordered the wire from eBay and made a simple jig to hold the wire so I had both hands. I successfully removed the glass. Hooked it back up still works. Am waiting for the new glass and loca glue (didn't order it until I removed old glass so wasn't waisting money if I broke it. I did practice on 2 junk phones first. Only one of the test screens worked before and it still worked after. YouTube videos is what I followed.

Would you care to share your links in what you did?
If better camera and finger print sensor and more comfortable phone in hand is whats important to you i would dive in. I buy 3 phones a year so i can understand you wanting to upgrade even if its not that big of an upgrade . But at this point there won't be any giant leaps from year to year .

I got all the parts on ebay. Used the cheapest I could find from us sellers. You need a loca glu. I used a uv flashlight I got on eBay to cure the glue. Have to put it on all parts of glass for about 30 seconds each spot.

I drilled 2 holes in a 2x10 block of wood about 8" apart and put the wire holding sticks in the holes. Watch YouTube videos to see how to take phone apart
It worked pretty good for me. I ended up with 2 small air bubbles under the glass and glass is slightly lifted on one side. Cannot notice once in cheap tpu case.
I used a locktite glue that takes 24hrs to cure to glue screen back to bezel. Cleaned with close pins while curing. Tried double sided tape didn't hold, krazy glue dried to hard didn't hold screen to bezel. I think all my trial and error and scraping and reglueing the bezel is why it is lifted.
Sorry took so long to reply. Just glued the screen on 2 days ago.
And I am in no way saying this is easy just that it was no where near as hard as I thought it would be. You could easily completely break screen trying this
Update. Screen works fine but... The locktite worked the best but is coming undone again. I believe I may have had the loca glu to thick. And made the screen thicker in doing so. And when I put it together it is pressing out. Am thinking of reseperating and reglueing. Any advice is welcomed

Got a Note 9 last week and day after receiving it i noticed when holding the note 9 and pressing on screen in certain areas (near sides/corners/centre) it would make a popping noise, sounds like adhesive behind the screen not adhering properly or something like that. I got Samsung to replace with a brand new one and same thing with this one, it happens whether phone is on or off, it's definitely not rite as you can hear it very clearly, feels like some flex going on in screen when it happens as i can feel the screen kind of dip slightly when it makes the noise, but ok when it does not make the noise.
Curious to see if anyone else have had the same issue? gutted as loved it for the short while i had it but sending second one back now for refund as worried something will happen with screen further down the road and Samsung may not cover it. I know of at least 3 others who had this issue when buying same time as me.

sorry should have said, no tempered glass or any screen protector applied.
have no problem with that.
only have that popping sound when using tempered glass before. changed to plastic screen protector and no sound anymore

Hey thanks for sharing that. This is the first link I got searching for this, I have it happen to mine note 9 too. It's such a bummer since I had it for only three days and will have to setup a new one from scratch if they have to replace it.
are you sure the s-pen isnt vibrating when you tap it on that side? remove the s-pen and tap it. i bet it goes away
Wow. No issues like that. I've had three Note 9s and all three have been perfect. I'd definitely return for a replacement. Weak or loose glue could seriously affect the water resistance, since it depends on a water tight seal between the screen and the frame. I'd never recommend using your phone in water anyway, but I at least like the assurance that if my phone takes an accidental dip. There's a good chance it will survive.

Yep real shame, my replacement was the same to, it's on way back, getting a refund, not worth risking something going wrong with the screen later down the road, i mean manufacturers do anything to not accept responsibility specially when it comes to screens. First one started on second day, it was great for the first day, replacement was doing it from the moment i took it out of packaging and holding it, it was worse than the first one.

After studying the noise a bit more, it is definitely an issue with the glue. It will not happen all the time I press the screen, but it happens more often when the phone is a bit warm to the touch (e.g. charging the battery). Also, it appears to be along the side where the battery resides - I wouldn't worry about the battery itself, it just makes sense that the glue will get loose where it heats up more often (in my case, I don't stress the phone all that often for the other side where the SoC is to play a role). Anyways I'll be returning it tomorrow once the shops here in Berlin open 'cause now it's christmas break.
One extra thing that might be interesting, the back-side also has some sort of a glass-separation issue, at least it looks like that. Notice the circular smudge around and right of the DUOS label - I tried cleaning it but it comes back, I think the glass is separated at that point too, but just a tiny bit. I've had the phone for four days and haven't dropped/hit/scratched it AFAIK.

i agree with you, seems to be adhesive/glue issue, it did not happen all the time for me either but as you mention it, i noticed it more after recharging (when phone gets warm) so think you nailed the issue on the head to be honest.
I noticed it around the sides (edges) and the centre of screen, second one was even worse much more noticeable and was happening straight away after taking it out of box.
Something i noticed but never mentioned as wasn't sure but second one was the same, maybe it's normal but don't think it is, on the curved corners of the screen it appeared to me the screen looked slightly lifted not flush with the frame but only on corners.
I live in the UK btw. I was thinking a bad batch but seeing Samsung had a good deal on with cashback and discount i imagine they sold allot between the time i arranged to send mine back to getting the replacement which was a week so i imagine they would have been separate batches although i could be wrong.

Cool, thanks for the info. It's too dark in the winter days so it's hard to say if the glass is a bit off on the corners, but nevertheless, I will write back when I (hopefully) get a replacement one.
One last thing - you did speak directly with Samsung support? Did you buy it from their store or you just didn't want to bother with the store you bought it from?

I bought it directly from the Samsung online uk store. There was a discount direct from Samsung for students/people who work in certain industries so it could be bought for £699 (£200 off), but also they were offering £150 cashback bringing total down to £549, plus cashback by going via a cashback website meant i would have had it for around £504, also they were doing trade in so people could get even more off up to another £150.00 bring cost down to £399, then people got the samsung game deal thingy, don't play games myself but people can get a Fornite theme by downloading Fornite playing 3 games then you get the free theme, kids going bonkers for the theme, people selling the theme upto £100. So people could have the phone at a bargain price.
So I got a replacement, and just as you said, the display had the same popping sound out of the box. It happens like once a day, but since there is really no substitute for this device right now (stylus + good DAC, besides all the other great features), I'll keep using it and if it gets worse contact Samsung down the line for warranty/replacement. Decided to leave this as information if some other person happens to have the same problem in the future.

feel for you, such a shame and disappointing to happen a second time, it's a great phone, i did not want to risk it so sent second one back too. Fingers crossed you won't have any issues. Mine was happening regularly so like you say just keep an eye on it.

i actually noticed it a few times.. like last night it was doimg it. sort of right above where the keyboard is in portrait mode..
it seems to happen when its really cold outside for me.. its not enough for me to have it replaced thankfuly
I can replicate this when I clean my screen with a microfibre cloth. It happens on pretty much all of the screen. I believe I can also see some light streaks in the screen when this happens. The popping sound happens regardless of the temperature of the phone. Will have to inspect it more to see if I can spot any other issues with the screen. I got mine in the UK just over a week ago. Apart from that I think the phone has been great so far. Not sure whether to replace it.
glad i sent mine back now to be honest, personally i would send back, as you say everything else is great apart from the screen popping sound. The worry for me is the screen might cause issues further down the road, screens are the biggest issue with mobile phones and manufacturers are quick to blame user and deny warranty.

My Unlocked US Note 9 does it too. Mine mainly does it on the right side near the middle. It's not enough for me to warrant sending it back; it still works fine and I don't see any screen issues when pressing on the screen. Also I bought mine used so I'm guessing the screen was replaced. If it gets worse, I guess I'll fix it then.
